Show Notes
Hey lady! This week Dr. Dom and Terri welcome the inspiring and amazing Dr. Chika Oriuwa to Cultivating H.E.R. Space to discuss how she triumphed through personal challenges to become a medical trailblazer and a real-life Barbie doll.
Dr. Chika shares how despite her many accomplishments she braved a tough battle with disordered eating and found her way through the maze of perfectionism, Black exceptionalism, and the unique challenge of being the only Black student in her medical school class. And, still found a way to make her Immigrant parents proud of her hard work. She talks about it in-depth in her memoir Unlike the Rest.
Lady, if you’ve ever experienced feelings of being othered or the only in the room, then you’ll want to tune in and hear how Dr. Chika cultivated the inner resources to advocate for herself and succeed against the odds.
Quote of the Day:
"Celebrating yourself isn’t arrogance—it’s necessary. Own your story, your success, your shine."
– Dr. Chika Stacy Oriuwa
One of our sponsors for this week is Feeld (like field, but with two E’s). Tired of dates that feel like interviews? Same. In 2025, we’re showing up as our full, unfiltered selves, and Feeld makes space for that. Whether you’re into open relationships, cuddling, just moved to a new city and wanna find your people, or you're traveling and hoping to connect, this is the app for it.
Feeld is where curious, open-minded, and playful folks come to connect.
No ads. No pressure. Just vibes.
Download Feeld on the App Store or Google Play. We'll see you in there, lady!
