Doing quests I have skipped, Frizzle Claw and Need for a cure, Lost but not forgotten, Encroachment.Logged on to Treshel, who has the Brewfest Ram and she got the vendor icon and was able to buy a level 60 Brewfest Ram for 100, even though she is level 56. And no ticket needed. So then I remembered I had gotten the Brewfest mount for Rilfire because I was tired of the Kodos, but then when she hit 60, she had to go get a kodos for the speed, well guess what, she went back and for 100g, she got a level 60 Brewfest mount, so cool! By the end of Thu morning/afternoon, Trez, my new Orc Shaman was level 8. She and Cii are finally doing quests that both get exp and therefore RAF. Thursday I spent some silly time trying to do some quests in Durator. I got my Shaman to 10, but did some other stuff including brewfest in between. Friday morning I did some more quest with the shaman but then it wasn't Ashayo Running the Brewfest dailies on all 5 70's. Have bought every item there is, including two beer of the month subscriptions. Awesome! Killed Coren Direbrew, over and over again. Saw the mount drop twice in about 50 kills. Even dual-boxed him a few times. Easier to dual box tank/dps than two dps or dps/heals Ran ZA and killed the Lynx boss for the first time. Thanks DwP! AIE's Guppers raid this week one shot Gruul, one shot Mags, and we did it so quick there was time to venture into SSC and have a try at Lurker. Levelling Warrior/Shaman with friends ; ran RFK and thought we'd try SM ; decided Level 28 is a bit low :/ Glaciuss dings 60 in Winterspring! Headed to outlands, despite not having set foot in WPL, EPL or Silithus. Run Ramparts and got healing pants. I wonder what they'll be after 3.0. Made 3g on portal within 1 minute of starting to quest in HFP! Craft Faire - got enchanting up to 320. Stumbled on RP in Winterspring cave? Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 81 - Brewfest Time, Drink Up
Aprillian and Ashayo discuss another week of playing World of Warcraft, Blizzard's great MMORPG. Episode 81 - Brewfest Time, Drink Up Game Stop showed up on my iPhone caller ID and even before I saw this thread I answered "Oh WotLK Collector's Edition is ready for preorder! I was at work and with a customer and needed to get on and off the phone really quick. The Game Stop guy was like how did you know. I just said, I'll be there in an hour. I work across the street from the mall. I didn't bother to say, why else would Game Stop be calling me, to see how I'm doing? Check on my kids? Brewfest tickets can be converted into Brewfest coins, but you probably already know this. What We've Been Doing AprillianTrying to do as much of the class specific quests without asking where stuff is. Abandoning quests with wild abandon. Then for fun and relaxation played with Suyna and Primall and got them to 38 in STV.Wed morning went to UC with Mages to do Investigate the Alchemist Shop. I've decided I want to get all my current pairs to 30 so they can ride before I go back to my 38's. So I took my Belf 20 and Undead 15 to SFK and stopped to do their robe quest with the Dalaran mages. Got to the end of SFK and realzed Ardrion had two SFK quest, shared them with the mages and they were able to get the book. I figured I might run them through again. I also decided to make them both enchanters for the time being to de the greens they bop and then discard Thurs morning ran SFK again with the mages in Ardrion and got to then end and forgot to share the head quest with Weeaa who was now eligible. Friday decided to go to Blackfathom Deep. Found my cheat way to get to the back. I took severa diferent pairs, my mages and my druid 17 and warlock 18. I ran them with Treshel at first but then decided Ardrion would be okay. Sat morning I was all set to run BFD a few times and Blizzard thwarted me. Traded in my brewfest tickets from last year for tokens this year. Cute thing about WIM, it's persistent through alts log in and log out. WIM with Primall and Ashayo is in white but in same window as WIM with Ashayo and Aprillian, neat. Ashayo Jekle tried to PuG in Kara. Fail! Decided to run SFK on my warrior, but server reset. Fail! Gratz to BiP (Buffed and in Position) raid group for downing Mags two weeks running. Ventured into SSC afterward with them to practise killing the trash. Spent most of the week getting my mage to 58. Did most of the Un'goro quests in one evening (I remember spending days there!), then ventured to Felwood. To head to Outlands at 58 or not... Question: What decent quests / quest chains are there in Blasted Lands and Burning Steppes for Horde? Brewfest! Killed Coren Direbrew 8 times so far, and haven't seen mount drop Jekle got a nice healing trinket, and Ashield got a nice stamina trinket (and it summons a brewmaiden that throws beer at enemies!) Ashayo can still buy the ram mounts from Driz Tumblequick! Email Email 1 hey guys love the show, my names Groundbeaf level 60 tauren hunter in the great guild AIE, i've been double boxing for around a year now and just tried triple boxing instances when recruit a friend started. most of the time i stick to doubleboxing and have used the RAF feature to level alts on the horde side of things. before coming to AIE i had alliance toons of each class from the 60-70 range but fell in love with the horde and had to build my alt stable on earthen ring. since the RAF started i've doubleboxed a priest/warlock combo, & a druid/pally combo to 60 and working on a shammy/rogue which are 20 right now. when granting levels to my mage & hunter i noticed something some people might not have noticed. you want to make sure the alt you are granting levels on have a xp bar which is almost full and ready to level themselves, since granting levels does not effect this when you grant the level to this toon and make it 60 the toon will actually be a couple bars to 61 which is like getting a free level considering the XP jump once you hit 60. anyway hope this is something that might help some people, keep up the good work and hope to see you online sometime Groundbeaf HAIL AIE PM on Extralife Forums: Hi Asprillian, I just watched your pod cast on Crtl Alt Wow Podcast - Dual boxing. Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 80 - Warlock Quest Lotta Running Around
Aprillian and Ashayo discuss another week of playing World of Warcraft, Blizzard's great MMORPG. Full Show Notes at http://ctrlaltwow.com What We've Been Doing Aprillian Suyna did both Warlock Quests dragging Primall around and dinging 3 levels in the process. Tuesday ran down to Shimmering Flats with primal and suyna And I made a druid, Drame the Druid a male Tauren. I brought in yet another bank alt, Mi a level 3 Belf Warlock male who was sitting in Undercity. Summoned him to Mulgore and got him to 6 and Drame to 5 and went to Silvermoon. A Tauren in Silvermoon is funny. Wed Ran Drame and Mi around Eversong woods while on break and lunch at work and got them to 10. Back there Thurs morn. Oh collected eggs while there, levelled up skinning on Mi. Since they were outmatched on these hawks, I had them use their "melee" weapon, sword on Mi and Staff on Drame. But then I realized Drame needed training he couldn't get from the Belf area, so he hearthed home, and trained and then I summoned him to TB using someone on the Master account. He did all the quests and got his Druid Bear form. It's so cute. Then I had to log off and go to work. Friday morning decided I wanted some pairs on a pvp server, rolled two on Onyxia and realized there was no way I could do the RAF broke. Ask Ashayo about funds on a pvp server and rolled Aprillian, Dranei warrior and Dreem nelf druid on dunemaul. Summoned Dreem to the Dranei starting area. Dreem couldn't do the healing Note: Some quest can't be shared if there is an item that has to be used. Spent some time in Eversong Woods with Warlock and druid, brought them to RFC and then I sent Drame back to Moonglade with Quea to do some Druid quest. Man I thought Warlock quests were complicated. Sunday night I took Suyna Ashayo Jekle - Heroic Sethekk Halls for Druid's epic flight form quest Asheal - Gruul's Lair (gratz to BiP on downing Magtheridon for the 1st time!) Levelling Warrior (now 24) and Shaman in The Barrens, & Wailing Cavern Ashayo - Gruul's Lair (Banana Hammock!) and Mags (wipefest!) Ashield - Karazahn (actually live through the Prince fight!) Levelling Rogue lockpicking in Durnholde Keep & poisons Shaman in RFK Mage in Sunken Temple (wiped without dying....?) Ye olde price of twink blues! Email 1 Evening, Well to start off I figured might as well point out that a fel hunter IS the same thing as a fel hound. Now on to my topic and sorry if this letter turns into a very long TLDR post (that’s To Long Didn’t Read btw). So I can’t believe how much I’ve fallen for Aprillian. Considering when I first heard her it sounded like she always was eating a piece of candy while doing the show (which maybe that is the case) but at any rate I’ve come to enjoy hearing her lovely/weird accent. What really sealed the deal for me was the evil laugh on episode 78. It was soooooo cute and endearing it made me wish she wasn’t married. On a quick side note: If y’all or anyone for that matter is wanting to get the most out of RAF and have multiple toons to 60 in the shortest time possible, then boosting in instances using a 70 that isn’t linked to any of the RAF accounts would be the fastest way to 60. I must stress the fact that none of the accounts can be linked to the 70 or it will not receive the xp bonus. I was able to get all 4 of my locks to 60 in a about 1 day 10 hours of /played time using my 70 rogue and most of that time was actually me setting up macros. Most multi-boxers from dual-boxing.com have done it in less than a day of /played time. The basic gist of this method is simply to use a AoE style class such as a mage or pallie to pull the entire instance or must of it in 1-3 pulls (in which case it takes on avg 10-15 minutes to run the instance). A warrior can also pull this method off using whirlwind and cleave to burn the mobs. Of course any 70 can do this as my 70 rogue was able to run every old world zone without any problems. As you get high in zone it might become a bit more difficult to pull such a huge portion of the zone depending on your gear level if you don’t have a class that can kill multiple mobs at the same time (not sure if it’s a good point of ref. but my rogue has most of his T6 set minus 3 items). I won’t list the best order to do the instance to max the xp gain but I will give a hint. Once you are able to enter strat, scholo, etc skip over strat and use the first 3 rooms of scholo for the boosting. Don’t go any farther into the zone. So just kill the baddies on the bridge, the following 3 rooms then reset. Rinse and repeat. Anyway I had more I was going to say but decided since I’m at work and all I might should try to get something productive done. Aprillian and Ashayo discuss another week of playing World of Warcraft, Blizzard's great MMORPG. What We've Been Doing AprillianSuyna and Primall ding 30 and head to Og for mounts. Stopped at the trainer for the warlock, good thing, got my dreadsteed, almost paid for training on Suyna, my warlock. I did buy her a wolf mount, for 9g it was a bargain.Just realized I had not found a replacement for Primall as my main bank alt, and hence hadn't been playing the AH. I reassigned my bank alts and put stuff up and promptly began making money again. Suyna and Primall ding 30 and head to Og for mounts. I reassigned my bank alts and put stuff up and promptly began making money again.Suyna and Primal went to BB to get the blades for the deadly blunderbuss quest, Iwari made 7 blunderbusses. Then they went back to Ashenvale to turn in the DB and head over to the Satyr camp and get the oil. There were so many people running around it was crazy. So I parked them there and went back to Vapril, level 10 priest I had used Suyna to get to 10. I paired her with a warlock in Deathnell named Thea (with the little degree mark over the a) and I had Theå summon her. Did a few of the starter quests and got Theå to 4 and then headed to Brill. I forgot how nice the Brill quest were. So now Theå is about 8 and Vapril is 12. Then I realize I need to do a lower level alt on my original account so I can use all these extra grant a levels. But I should wait until I got them to say 20, since the 1-10 levels are a piece of cake. So I get yet another bank alt, Cii, she was my letter alt, I sent all the notes people had sent me to her. She is an Orc Warrior. I summon Theå to Durator and the two of them run around getting quest and levelling up. I found the perfect combo, W & W. I'm loving it. Cii charges in and I quickly switch over to Theå who dots and send her imp in. Great combo. Wed I took The and Cii over to skull rock to do the Hidden enemy quest at work on my break. They died a lot, part of the reason was they were underdressed. Thursday morning Aprillian had a spellcloth cd, so she went to Area 52 and when I logged on to Auntrillia and Rilfire, they were still in the inn there from the last Spell cloth. I hadn't really been on any of them. Got out PIA my level 13 mage out to play with Cii and the and realized that's the one to fast forward, portals man, that's the ticket. Took the trio to UC so The can do her warlock quest, she couldn't do the one in Durator, said she was the wrong race when she turned it in at the guy in ogR. I decided to start a mage on my master account, so I had to delete gnobull, the gnome I made for the Running of the Beef 2. I made Tiiaa and I brought in Qub, who was a level 3 warlock belf I had summoned to BB to replace my Horde BB alt. I had him hearth back to the Belf starting zone and then ran the two together. He had rested xp so he leveled faster and every other level I would grant one level to Tiiaa. I didn't think it was a waste because I don't believe I'll get Qub up too high. But then I had to try a new strategy because once they started levelling even, Qub couldn't grant levels without being a level higher than than Tiiaa, so I would hold off on Tiiaa turning in a quest and have Qub turn in a bunch to ding and then grant a level and then have Tiiaa turn in quest. But then Thursday night, which I took off from work, I made yet another mage, on the referred account, this time Weaa an undead Friday, Run through RFC with Ardrion Tiiaa and Weaa, leavel 11 mages, then later WC with level 15 mage. It was so much fun. Brought my level 30 on the raf account AshayoEmail 1Email 1Dear Aprillian and Ashayo, Email 1Dear Aprillian and Ashayo,Since blizzard introduced the Recruit-A-Friend Scheme, I have been addicted to Dual-Boxing, maybe its the fact that I get triple exp, but I think its because it is a whole different take on the game which offers a new outlook on the game and the levelling process. However, I have a few problems with the Dual-Boxing process, first is the fact that due to the fact that you are only in direct control of one character at a time, I feel I won't be able to play one of my characters in a competent manner at 70. However, as this doesn't matter at the moment due to the fact that I am dual-boxing two shamans, I am curious to dual-box two different classes when my current pair reaches 60, and I was wondering if you guys could offer advice on how to be sure to be able to use the characters I
Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 78 - Saving Frequently
Aprillian and Ashayo discuss another week of playing World of Warcraft, Blizzard's great MMORPG. Episode 78 - Saving Frequently What We've Been Doing Aprillian Crazy whacky mayhem trading off alts in Scarlet Monastery just to get to the dog keeper and get a blue drop. First Aprillian with Suyna, easy at level 64 she and her Felhunter take charge. Swapped out Iwari so Primall, on Aprillian account, could join and get the RAF bonus. Iwari couldn't hold aggro. Brought in Treshel, was a little better but even she died. Note: Even if you don't click the accept button on the RAF summon, the timer resets. On Wed, I took a bunch Suyna 22, Primal 22, Ishaq 20 and Lucerferus 12 into SFK. I'm loving the Priest. I'm loving grouping with me. Changed some profession, made Primall an enchanter, made Ishaq a miner/engineer Then went back to Camp T area with Primall/Suyna and Ishaq, decided to make 30 my goal for the weekend. Spending crazy time getting mats together to level tailioring and lw w/ suyna and Primall. I know I have spidersilk on someone. Where are those irridescent pearls? Getting enchanting up by de'ing everything from her and Suyna Ran into the Outriders in the Barrens, totally forgot about them. Discovered a big problem when triple boxing with RAF, 3rd toon lags behind. Ishaq is 21 and Primall and Suyna is about to ding 26. So I started another priest on Primall's account and gifted her 9 levels from Suyna. that was really sweet. Realized maybe I'd been wasting time levelling skills at this juncture and should just level them. Headed to Ashenvale Saturday night with Primall and Suyna, dual boxing on the MBA. Ran back to get dye from Camp T and noticed a lot of people running around, could this be a side effect of the RAF? Hmmm Fortunately Primall's pets are levelling with her. Sunday morning back in Ashenvale. Brought in Veyle on the 3rd account, mainly because she's in the AIE Guild. Ended up in 1000 Needles it was like being home but all new again. Accidentally bumped into the Test of Strength guy Ashayo - Extended Maintenance again ... Boo! - Gruuls on Asheal and Jekle this week. Both one-shot. - Levelling mage in Tanaris/Feralas/Hinterlands - Ding 50 - Ashayo fails at SSC - Leotheras the Blind at 1% - Tanked RFC on Warrior - need to get used to stances - Halaa PvP - good when a plan comes together - Ashayo catches Mr. Pinchey!! Interview with Tzolekk (shadermn) Email No. 1 Hey guys, My apologies for not being overly clear last email... No, I don't use my feet to play WoW (lol)... I was, however, at work most of the day before my injury, then proceeded to break the bone on the side of my foot (the 5th metatarsal) as well as incurring muscle damage and ligament sprain... and then was at the hospital (and away from my computer) for the remainder of the day. All is now well, though, and the authenticator seems to work just fine! But hey! A silver lining has come from all of this – I have a great deal more 'home time'... my kittens love it that 'daddy' is home more and I have gotten a great deal more accomplished in WoW. Hey Aprillian and Ashayo! First, please allow me to apologize to the fair Aprillian for seemingly excluding her from my last email and the possibility of catching Mr. Pinchy... t'was not my intent. We're all cheering you on, dear Aprillian, in your quest to get to 70... and we'll erupt in a cheer and song and much revelry when you ding... BEFORE the Wrath of the Lich King. Right? Plus... in all fairness, Ashayo specifically asked for the Mr. Pinchy details... and ol' Blade delivers... Speaking of delivery... I wasn't overly clear on a point I made last episode. When you use the last wish (that's wish #3) of Mr. Pinchy, he disappears. That's it. That's all. You'll have to catch him again if you want three more wishes. That said, it IS possible (if you're terribly lucky) to have more than one Mr. Pinchy in your inventory at any given time (for SOME reason Mr. Pinchy isn't a unique item...) and each one is on the same 2 day timer. So you can only get one wish per two days, no matter how many Mr. Pinchys you happen to put into your inventory. Onward. Have you ever been a little jealous of your druid friends for their ability to shapeshift into other forms? What if I told you that it was possible for ANYONE to become a fish? It takes some luck... and not a small degree of skill... but it's possible. Before you embark on this journey, you must have the following: Fishing skill (minimum 130, preferably 225+) Character level at least 10 (to get the fishing skill minimum), preferably lv35+ to defend yourself from the mobs that will be around the areas you will be... Booty Bay and Stranglethorn... for the weekly Fishing Extravaganza! This particular weekly event is also very popular with lower-level pvp toons for the extra gear (with boatloads of Stamina on it) that you can obtain... In Stranglethorn Vale... at 2:00 PM server time, Riggle Bassbait (he's the little green goblin near the big hanging fis
Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 77 - Why Didn't I Think of That
Aprillian and Ashayo discuss another week of playing World of Warcraft, Blizzard's great MMORPG. Episode 77 - Why didn't I think of that Technical Difficulties What We've Been Doing Aprillian So back in WSG with Primall when someone asks again, why I'm in there at level 14. "Why don't you go level to 19" and I thought well I do have unitl August 24th. Plus, I have the extra speed from the refer a friend. So I had Treshel take Primal, Pri level 20 Rogue, and Suyna level 13 Warlock into RFC and by the time we were done we were 16. Tonight I'll go to WC and get to 19. I only took Pri for the bag space. Now that I have the gbank for my allie alts, I thought I would move my main bank alt to SW and pulled another alt to BB so Relaq can play more. Got up early tuesday morning to see if there was no maintenance and ended up running part of the way into WC. BTW Refer A Friend, or RAF can summon into instances. Very nice. I knowI 've gotten overly obsessed with RAF. Cleared WC did all the quest except the bottle one. Had to summon Pri in to get stuff so I didn't have to destroy anything. Got tons on greens, it was amazing. Had to leave for work right after finishing the 3 quests and getting a white croc for Primall to tame. Dual boxed on my Macbook Air at work. Got Primall and Suyna to the quest givers in the cave a the top of the entrance to WC. Both Dinged 19. Spent time with Pri to enchant Primall and plan to take Primall to WSG. But first I spent almost an hour getting her a cool 2h axe and enhancements. Pulled Iwari to UC to make the standard scope and after 3 matches, 2 losses and one W, Primall got her Gold Medallion. Gold Medallion winners: Aprillian, of course, Ardrion, Primall, Trexrar(alli alt) and Auntrillia. I suppose that's enough for now. I found Mor'shan Base Camp and the rings for level 18. I have 18 wsg marks on Primall so I guess it's back to the bg one more time and then I ended up buying her a necklace. I wanted to get Iwari up so I took her to get her to 50 with Aprillian and realized she doesn't get any of the bonuses because Aprillian is over 60. So now I'm using Iwari with my level 20. Took Suyna into Scarlet monas Ashayo Decided to get the Gold Medal on Ashayo. Hit EotS with Tarrq, Clayman and Johnni and got it after the second battle! Ashield tanks Karazhan - 3 bosses in an hour first night, and another two the next night. Crazy stuff for a pally in quest greens/blues. Props to Tarqq and the gang! Glaciuss - completes STV! Quest chain ending in "Saving Yenniku" gives nice staff - Nimboya's Mystical Staff - gets his Carrot-on-a-stick after a ZF run with Mata triple boxing - Runs Jintha'lor in Hinterlands with Mata's Shaman/Hunter - Finally ran Maraudon ; very long instance, and no clothie drops at all! Sharman hits 30 and I get my first raptor mount - feels like a Kangaroo. Started a warrior and levelled to 10 with another newbie! Confirmed with GM - corpses get 'cleared' which causes rez at GY Email Email 1 Hel'o April and Ashayo, This is Marrly (Pronounced Like Bob Marley) , level 58 Troll shaman from The Eonar realm. On Episode 76 you mentioned the Lunar sphere addon. Personally I am addicted to it. I have it set up on each of my characters. You asked if the boards that you found the addon on was the point of origin, then the answer is yes. http://moongazeaddons.proboards79.com/index.cgi?board=lunarsphere That is the point of origin.... And one to April: What Is the mod that creates the long bar below the bottom task bar that is shown on your pictures of the deserter Primall? Also Is the fact you can see the full gryphons on the side of the bottom taskbar due to the size of your screen (The HD TV?) or is it a mod. In general would you be kind enough to list of Most of your addons and where you got them? Um.... Thanks In advance Oh... And FOR THE BLOODY HORDE! Marrly, (more dots...............) Ctrla Alt Wow Episode 75 - Blizzard wants us to Dual Box
What We've Been DoingAprillianEarly Tues morning, took Aprillian and Rilfire out to falcon watch, Aprillian had the quest to kill quillboars and didn't want to waste the leatherChecked my ally alt and got 15g, woot I was almost sold out.Tuesday night logged on to Rilfire to do some of the Cenarian Post stuff out at Falcon WatchWed morning spent most of the time running around getting non combat pets, Primal gets 12 prairie dog whistles in TB, Jajal gets 32 dragonhawk hatchlings from Eversong woods, Ardrion runs up to Ogrimmar and gets 32 snakes. I'm almost embarressed when I log on and collect my 11 to 16 gold ever 4 or 5 hours. That evening took Rilfire back out and she did the ravager quest. Used Scatter shot for the first time and found out where the Fel Scales I'd been buying on the AH come from. After completing the quest, I spent the rest of the evening farming for knothide leather and fel scales. It was nice to be back on a hunter againThursday morning got in a fishing mood. Got Rilfire to 275 and got Primal to 5 so she can train in fishing. She was a level 4, thanks to the midsummer festival, but I hadn't ever played her in "rl", she had no real armor and no weapon skills. I ran her to Bloodhoof and she died several times trying to get those well stones. But she got to 5 and got fishing, so now when RilfireThursday night I got on my level 1 undead warlock, since I want to use one with 2 of my 3 level 19's, 20's ish toons. It was fun leveling in Deathknell. And I had forgotten the Warlock got the imp at like level 3. How cool is that.OMG! took my level 19 priest into WG for the prizes Blizz set up to coincide with the Olympics. It was so much fun. At the same time, I noticed my horde pets were no longer selling on the ally side. I guess they are all going after the pet dragon.Funny, I checked my ally Friday night and I was practically sold out again. 16g!Saturday morning, hung out with Palanor on Relaq and Pri. We even went into Bg, got a tabard but no pet.Found a slight flaw in Altaholic, if you have checked the box "has Mats", and then logged on to another alt, the other alt can only see the recipeSaturday, did refer a friend and Aprillian got a zhevra mount. Spent a while leveling and summoning linked characters. Quite neat and handy. Gave one character on old account a level up from new accountSaturday night I wanted my bank alt Primal to run with my new warlock, but I needed to get rid of some of the stuff she was holding. Dave from SacredEmail 1Hello to you, Aprillian and Ashayo!Blade here...Just listened to Episode 74 and decided to contribute again with some fishing tricks...Specifically... the Weather-Beaten Journal that will allow you to 'track' fishing pools on your minimap - much like the hunter's tracking ability or the tracking of minerals and herbs. You will need a Fishing skill of 100 to use it, and the journal binds on pick-up, so you will probably have to use the journal yourself... BUT... there IS a way to trade the journal to another character... I'll detail that in a moment. In order to find the journal, you will have to fish up a trunk or a crate, specifically Curious Crate, Heavy Crate, Heavy Supply Crate, Iron Bound Trunk, Mithril Bound Trunk, Watertight Trunk or Tightly Sealed Trunk. The best drop rate seems to be from Curious Crates - which are caught from any pool in Outland at around a 4% catch rate. There's no specific pool in Outland that drops Curious Crates more than any other, so the higher chance of having the journal is offset by a low drop rate. Personally, I found the greatest success in Stonetalon Mountains... in the Venture Company goblin area... there are pools of w

Aprillian and Ashayo discuss another week of playing World of Warcraft, Blizzard's great MMORPG. The title comes from the fact that I have to go to a stupid family reunion . What We've Been Doing: Aprillian I don't know what to do, if anything, with Ardrion. I have a certain fondness for him. He was originally named Ctrlaltwow when I started him on the server. He is now 43 and at 300 in LW, 300 skinning and 275 cooking. But to do anything else, he has to get to 50. Right now he's good for making armor kits for my lower level Rilfire was fishing and not leveling, checked her skill window and she was 225/225. Did a quick search and found she had to go to Dustwallow Marsh and get a fishing quest. Surprised I hadn't done it sooner. She had to fly and ride to two different spots on both continents and fish until she got some speccial fish. Didn't take too long, just wish she had done it sooner and she would be levelling. Of course she got fish that she might be able to sell. Monday night I got a little treat. Palanor, Glanthur's level 22 Belf Paladin, logged on. I tripled boxed with my 3 level 19's, Pri Orc Rogue, Relaq Orc Warrior, Ishaq Troll Priest, and the 4 of us went to southern barrens to do the egg collecting quest. We died a bit, but it was my first time triple boxing this treo and doing multi boxing without any pets. I'm loving the priest and the resurrection but I have to keep her alive. I'm thinking I might want to bring up a warlock and put a soulstone on the priest. Because Palanor was higher, he drew aggro off of Relaq but I can see as we get up higher, Relaq is going to be fun to play. Wed morning took Rilfire. Pri and Relaq into Wailing Cavern. I wanted to level Rilfire's fishing from 225, but then realized Pri needed fishing too. I want to see if she can find a book without opening the crate Rilfire left WC with Fishing at 252. Took her to Falcon watch where she killed and skinned boars. Trying to do more outland stuff, to get Outland greens for Auntrillia Friday night and Saturday went to Family Reunion Thread in Instance forum berating multiboxing Rilfire went back to WC and got 17 pound catfish, sent to bank alt. 2Crazy level 10 belf hunter trying to tame level 11 serpent in WC Sunday night Ashayo EMA! (Extended Maintenance Again!) Decided to start the grind on Ashield and Asheal to get exalted with the Shattered Sun Offensive. Great way to grind for epic flying mount , plus the rewards are very nice for someone decked out in quest greens and some blues. Ashayo's raiding group has pretty much Magtheridon on farm status. Wiped on 3% because a cube clicker died, but downed on next attempt easily. Had the opportunity to play in the beta of WotLK. Completed the Death Knight starting zone. It's like an instanced area - can't just ride out. The mobs arn't static - there is a progression as the quests progress. Pretty much hit level 58 by the end, so straight to Outlands. AIE's Guppers (Gruul and unusual punishment) downed Gruul for the first time this week. And one-shot to boot. Gratz all round! Levelling shaman with RL friends. Run them through WC. Forgot to skill up on skinning, so was stuck at 75 the whole run. Ran out of time to do the escort at the end, so will be back! Fun to play with someone who has never played before. The Great Mail Cleanout Hadn't done it for a while, and was reaching the point of mail being deleted. Decided to level cooking on Hiide (2nd account). Had rediculous amounts of meat and fish on an alt, was just a matter of getting all the recipes. Mage very useful for that - porting here and there. The Aldor rise has a brazier - which can be used for cooking! Also, can land near the Scyer fire and use that - and have a Scryer alt get spices from the nearby vendor. Got up to 365, and ran out of high level mats. But still have enough to level another toon! Email: Email 1 Hello to you, Aprillian and Ashayo! Blade here... To hear my email read aloud over the interweb was... I have to tell you... an awesome experience... To hear great celebrities such as yourselves endorse what I have been doing was even more so! As an aside, I was actually wondering if there was any tasks, hints, tricks or advice areas that you might feel could be an addition to your show. Oddball Stuff... or News of the Weird and Wacky... Aprillian and Ashayo discuss another week of playing World of Warcraft, Blizzard's great MMORPG. Episode 73 - No Maintaince Tuesday is Okay What We've Been Doing: Aprillian Aprillian Unlearned Primal Mooncloth, for 50g and learned Shadoweave for 20g and picked up 5 shadowweave recipes Made macro/buttons to make twobox work for different character combinations Spent Thursday morning getting pets over to the Alliance. They are selling like hotcakes. I wonder if it has anything to do with the latest info on pets in the Expansion. Authenticator and 3 accounts are fun. Aprillian made a Spellfire bag (28 slot enchanter) for Auntrillia and bought a 20 slot Enchanter's Satchel, from the vendor in Thrallmar for like 12g. She equipped the spellfire bag, and put the satchel in her bank, buying a new slot for 25g. So now Auntrillia can de to her heart's content Saturday morning Triple boxed in Outland, completing some quests that Apriliian had and the other 2 had done, and then they did the pooh quest together and going into that mine Aprillian dinged 63 and got to wear another piece of the Netherweave set, gloves. But then I noticed her shoulders were from 47 and so I got a new pair on ah. Saw her old gloves had 8+ stamina, so I ran Auntrillia around trying to find the enchant, until I realized it was from a knothide armor kit and Rilfire could make them. Levelling Relaq, level 19 Warrior, in mining and bs. Easiest levelling ever I actually got from like 40 something to 178 without hitting a node, just smelting. And AI makes it a breeze because it tells me where mats are on each alt, on the account I'm on but if I link to other alts, it tells me their mats and also what's in the vault. I had been saving so much mats, that I felt rich. I only had to go to the ah for some silver and gold ore, but not much of that. I was focused on the outlanders but I'm ambivalent. Ashayo Ashayo's Heroic night - Ramparts and Botanica RFK - Server failure FTL. Lost blue necklace from rare bat spawn. Levelling Shaman. But just duel-boxing with Jekle for heals. Levelling Mage. Hit 40 last night. Tearing through SM Mage quests - needed SM and Uldaman Completed all of Dustwallow Marsh / Mudsprocket (including mage quest to kill level 40 elite demon - soloed :) Intending to do every quest in STV! Email: 1st email: Hey guys I love the show. I just happened on it and am in the process of getting caught up on some of the podcasts. My question is do you have one or two episodes that explain how to multibox? I have two accounts and always wanted to give it a try but wasn’t quite sure where to start. What type of system req’s do you recommend? How do you control both characters using only one monitor and one keyboard/mouse? Any recommended mods and or macro? What types of classes work well together? How do you select quests on both characters? Sorry for the assault of questions, but it sounds like you guys are the multibox masters and I want to glean anything I can. Thanks again. -Keelhaul 2nd Email: Hey Aprillian and Ashayo its Triaa again sorry I missed last week, got busy with raiding and such. So this week I decided to bring you two addons. The first is a modification to your cast bar, It is called quartz. The advantage to using quartz is that it takes into account latency for when you are chain-casting spells allowing for maximum DPS for casters. Here is a link to download this addon: http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info7158/. The second addon I decided to feature this week is the chat addon which Aprillian comments on two episodes ago. It is called Prat and allows you to customize your chat windows even more. It removes the scroll arrows on your chat panel and allows you to scroll through chat by simply mousing over the box and using your mouse scroll wheel. Here is the link: http://wowui.worldofwar.net/?p=mod&m=4413. hope ya guys enjoy these addons, I'll be sure to have another one next week. There's a tailor at the Sanctum that slells Pattern Imbued Netherweave Robe, which Aprillian didn't know and almost bought off the aha Thursday morning got obsessed with levelling Auntrillia in enchanting and getting Treshel to the alchemy lab at work I took Aprillian back to the voidwalkers. Good xp, safe, for the most part. Rode out to Winterspring on Auntrillia and picked up 34 felcloth and almost a 100 groms Ashayo Got my authenticator (Thanks Aprillian!) Only protects game and account management website - not, for example, armory login or forums. No confirmation of serial number! Prompts you for code even if you get the password wrong - so it's sending the account name first. Good and bad side to that. 2.4.3 patch - First chicken mount! Yay! Cool new animation for Warlock soul well. Cro Threadstrong's yelling at the Fruit vendor is now a pale yellow, not red. Glaciuss (frost mage) is levelling much faster with Asheal tagging along. Hit 35 and stopped to level Enchanting. Vision Dust is hard to find! Ended up buying lots of silk to make cloaks to disenchant. Once past that hurdle, easily attained the goal of 275, and promptly disenchanted a whole swag of level 68 gear. Asheal did a *good* PUG! Botanica, and got a nice set of leggings for an upgrade. iTunes and What's in a Name. I don't know why but Episode 58 that was entitled let's all grind was removed from iTunes. And Episode 59 was not showing up. I contacted iTunes and was eventually instructed to refresh my rss feed details and a few hours later they both appeared. Oh I did rename Episode 58 to Let's all Level. What We've Been Doing:Aprillian: Aprillian got to 50, yeah! in Felwood Kiling Furblogs. She flew to og to train Warlock and then she hearthed Shat. She wasn't sure if she had to run to Thrallmar, or if she could find someone who could summon her there. Aprillian got Soul Link Aprillian bought Runecloth off of AH and went to Og, TB, UC and SM to donate 60 RC for 9550 Xp. She went from 65% to 89% just from that. She finished up and then flew from UC to Booty Bay, a little over 13 mins. Friday I had to go to a funeral, took the day off thinking I could come home and wow I made a major decision last week. I left AIE. Being an officer in a large guild is a big chore. I would like to give a shout out to AIE and all of its officers. You guys do a wonderful job. Another fantastic episode! :) I was wondering what you and Ashayo thought about ideal combinations for dual boxing characters. I have 3 dual boxing teams (Priest/Warlock, Druid/Warrior, and Rogue/Hunter) and am finding the Druid/Warrior combination to be my favorite so far. I'm planning to spec my Warrior Fury and my Druid Resto. I use KeyClone along with custom macros in order to dual box without having to switch between windows. I rotate between the three teams to maximize the rested XP bonus. I'm tempted to start a fourth team after listening to you discuss Mages. ;) My teams are currently level 10, and hope to get one team to 15 by next weekend. Thanks for the tips in episode 58 for my professions! --Molsan HI Aprillian: Ashayo had some questions about how to effectively dual box with software that manages your commands and I would be happy to answer any questions he might have. Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 59 - The Power that is the Mage
Aprillian and Ashayo discuss another week of playing World of Warcraft, Blizzard's great MMORPG. Emails and a special interview with a confirmed Alta holic and Mage rounds it out. What We've Been Doing: Aprillian Working on getting Aprillian to 58, she's currently 48. After she dinged, she went to Og to train Had her soloing in Felwood, doing the Jaednar quest, but she kept dying so I brought in Auntrillia Started a Mage named Pia Thursday Morning Since Aprillian was running out of rested XP, I took her to Tanaris to do the Gahz'ridian Ornaments quest. She would get a little XP from killing mobs in the desert and complete that quest for xp. Plus she can level up her herbalism. She started at 292, Collecting ornaments went well. There was an ally at the Eastmoon Ruins killing the ogres, and ignoring the ornaments and herbs. It was easy pickings. I had Pia on at the same time. She was over halfway to 10 and dong Fairbreeze quests. Aprillian finished and turned in the ornament quest and ended up with her herbalism at 295. She checked her log and found she had a quest to go to the Hinterlands. She hearthed back to Shat and then took the portal to UC and flew to TM. She didn't have the fp to Hinterlands, so she rode from TM. What a difference a few levels can make. I remember running through the Hinterlands and dying on other alts at lower levels who didn't have mounts. As she was riding around, she saw a ! in a Troll Mob village, she picked up the Venom Bottle Quest, then the Undamaged venom sac quest in TM. Which leads to a ZF quest. Good times. She flew back to Hinterlands and I left her in the inn to get some rested xp. Meanwhile Pia's gotten to level 10 out that tower with the corrupted soil quest, and she's bumping up her herbalism from all the bloodthistle out there. She dings 10 and heads to Silvermoon to train. Along the way she passes Farstrider Retreat and pickes up 3 quests and then heads to Silvermoon. She gets the start of one of my favorite quests, the one where the buildins are floating in the sky. She also pick Guest Triaa - Mage Every class has it's give and take. I started with hunters because I like pets and believe they are the easy button. Thayloo -http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Lothar&n=Thayloo It seems to me that the Mages get pretty powerful early on. Come on they make their own food. Frost Nova and then fire. Spec fire until higher levels. Happy Birthday to Matahorn April 16 Email: Hello Aprillian and Ashayo This is Matahorn, a Dual boxer and a long time listener of the podcast. Also I am a fellow guildmember of Alea Iacta Est. I thought i would write to you and tell you how I Dual Box. I have 2 accounts but I play them together both on the 1 computer with 1 screen. I atl tab between the 2 characters. Matahorn is my level 70 Tauren Hunter and he is used to help my lower level characters through instances or hard any group quests. I am also an Altaholic. I will start on a server with a hunter because I find them easy to level and I really enjoy playing them. When he hits 70 I then use his great money making ability to help out my alts. Another reason I love alts is that they are great for having the different professions and not having to rely on the AH for my goods. Anyway I just thought I would write in. Keep up the great podcast and see you in the Game Matahorn P.s For the Horde While setting up the podcast, I got an email from Glanthur. Always nice to hear from him. Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 57 - Playing for Fun
What We've Been Doing Aprillian Making Decisions: Felt a little pressure this week to level Aprillian and Ardrion, but at the same time, I'm getting antsy about money and all the money I could be making if I had a level 70. But I'm ambivalent, because I know even though I can push Auntrillia to 70, she doesn't have decent gear. And then it's HS all over again and I'm not in the right outfit. Some were silly, bought a 24 slot LW bag. Ardrion has two 20 slot leatherworking bags, one in bank one on him but always needs more room. Since they are boe and unique, when I upgrade I'll have to vendor one. I took Ardrion out to Tanaris to grind and farm turtles. It was a win win situation for him. He gets turtle meat, skin and turtle shell. Plus they are all neutral, he doesn't have to worry about aggroing other turtles. Although in a rare instance another turtle will join a fight, only happend twice the whole time he farmed/grinded turtles. I didn't spend as much time as I usually do playing. Did a lot maintenance. Clearing out stuff. Sending low level greens to Aunrillia to de.S Tay, my Ally Dranei AH alt is back to making money. I had some competition for a while, but it slacked off. I thought about this while I was transferring stuff in Booty Bay. It's a very tedious thing to do. You have to put each individual pet up for auction and then immediately bid on it on the other character right away. One time there was a bot there who snatched a cockroach away but I just overpriced it a bit and was okay. I imagine the average player doesn't have enough patience to do this on an ongoing basis. I spent Thursday morning getting Auntrillia Enchanting to 100. Friday morning, Aprillian, Treshel and Ardrion went to Gnomeran, just for fun. Of course we were overpowered for the instance, being 54, 46 and 41 respectively. I loved it. We all died when that Shortfuse chick set off that explosion. Aprilian used a soulstone and was stuck behind a wall of rocks and the other two spent 10 or 15 minutes running around Dun Morogh (whatever) until they found the Saturdy spent leveling up an alliance Ashayo I haven't played as much as I normally do either. Monday I spent some time with Asheal and Ashield out in Hellfire peninsula doing the 1st few quests. Then Ashayo came and helped Asheal get some quests done so that Asheal was a level or so ahead. Asheal is now 60. Tuesday I was in Kara before shutdown to help finish clearing it. Got nightbane down with about 5 minutes to shutdown :) Wednesday we had massive storms that took out the power and internet, so I didn't get to play at all. Thursday was Jekle's turn for Kara with the "drunk with power" group. We have lots of fun and took our time downing the first three bosses. As you've seen Tarqq has an open invitation for you when you hit 70 - regardless of your gear! Jekle and Hiide have been doing the new dailies, but haven't had time for the Ogri'la. The new bombing run on the Isle of Quel'Danas got nerfed in Tuesday's patch. It now requires less hits to kill the pit boss and the sorcerers, which is good, because it was taking too many re-runs, and about 80% of the time is just waiting for the flight to take you to the bombing area. Something I meant to mention last week that I definitely DON'T like about 2.4. Hunter's got a big nerf in terms of their mana regeneration. Blizzard made the mana-per-5second formula the same across all classes. For a class like a hunter where mana is important, but we have previously not concentrated on maximising intellect, we're at a massive disadvantage. Estimates on the forums is that you need an intellect over 400 to get the same mana regeneration you were used to prior to 2.4. I'm having to change the way I do fights, and take alot more rests , which is a pain. On the flip side, Jekle as a resto druid is better off. And Ashayo's minions are regenerating mana faster, so I can mana tap them more regularly. One thing I want to do is to try dual-boxing two of the same class - probably mages. I want to try out the technique of both toons casting the same spells simultaneously. However the only software I can find to do this isn't free. I'm both hesistant about buying it just for a trial, and because it isn't open-source, I can't be sure that it doesn't contain a keylogger - since it's very nature is to replicate keystrokes (and mouse movements) Even though I've levelled my tailor past 300, I've been persisting with trying to get felcloth from the vendor in Winterspring. I was beginning to think that they'd taken it away in 2.4, as I spent hours there once and got nothing. Then one day I got 3 pieces in several hours, then another time I got 11 in about 2hrs. So the spawn rate seems very random. Show Close out. Great Mods I've been using. This one came from Renata of World of Warcast Podcast Quest History http://www.curse.com/downloads/details/7388/download/42496/ and Pet emote http://www.curse.com/downloads/details/3538/

Ashayo joins Aprillian in a discussion of their week of gameplay in Azeroth. The two talk about what they've been doing in World of Warcraft and alts as well as Dual Boxing. Aprillian admits to not liking some of the pressure in regularly run instances. They also discuss secondary sklls as they pertains to alts. Thanks Blizzard! What we've Been doing Aprillian Went into Hellfire Citadel with Auntrilia (Level 63 Hunter) and Rilfire (Level 60 Hunter) with Ashoyo's Hilde and Jekle Hard for me to do the organized shooting thing. Setting up stuff, I kind of like to just fight. Ashayo knows the best ways. I felt a lot of pressure. Went to Zul Farak with Aprillian (Level 43 Warlock), Treshel (Level 53 Hunter) and Auntrillia. I was doing pretty fine, of course Auntrillia is overpowered. I take my time make sure my 3 are in position I mentioned in gchat that I was doing this and someone offered to join me. They needed some of the quests finished. Practicing ignoring people in Trade - Cuts down for a small time. A couple of times I hit invite instead of ignore and people accepted Secondary Skills: Email: I'm Nîmrod. I play a level 70 hunter main the Eitrigg realm. On my main account I have the level 70 hunter, a level 70 warrior, and a level 45 rogue I'm working on. On my secondary account I have a level 58 hunter, and a level 45 warrior. I noticed you guys were talking about dual boxing and I thought I'd share something not many people know. I play on a Macintosh. I am able to play two accounts simultaneously on the one machine! My Mac is a fairly powerful one. It's an 8-Core machine. 8 3GHz intel Xeon cores and 8GB of RAM, with an ATI 1900 graphics card with 512MB on board. I have two monitors attached, an Apple 30" display and an Apple 24" display. On the Mac, you just have to create a copy of your WoW folder and poof, you can launch two separate WoW processes. WoW is very self contained, not spreading crap all over your hard disk, and we Mac folks don't have to worry about antiquated constructs like registry files. I log into both accounts all the time using the one machine. My performance is still great. I've even done this on my Mac laptop. I open two instances of WoW on the one screen in small windows, but it works. I wouldn't want to play long that way though. It's much nicer on the large flat screen monitors. I like the podcast very much. Keep it up! Thanks, Nîmrod. The American Heritage Dictionary offers two distinct definitions of animrod -- either a hunter, or a person regarded as silly or foolish. The dictionary goes on to explain that the second meaning probably originated with the cartoon character Bugs Bunny. The wily Bugs used the term in its original sense to refer to dithering hunter Elmer Fudd, whom he called a "poor little Nimrod." Over time, however, the "hunter" meaning got dropped, and the "dithering" connotation stuck. Hi Aprillian: I just listened to my first episode of your podcast (#53) and wanted to let you know that I thought it was great. I've subscribed to it through iTunes and will definitely catch future episodes. I met Ashayo last night for the first time. We ran Shattered Halls together and he mentioned the podcast. He was fun to group with and an excellent guest on your show. Best of luck to you, Molsan

Well thanks guys keep up the good work on the podcast. Triaa 2nd Email Hey Aprillian and Glanthur, its Triaa again(70 lock). I had an experience this past week where I helped to explain the different talent trees to a 60 lock who did not really understand them. This showed me that no matter how long you have been playing your class you can always learn something new, so I thought I'd give a quick overview of how I personally level a warlock. However I do recommend you play your class however you want, these are just my personal opinions. I personally found for the ranges of 10-49 having an affliction lock is actually the easiest way to go. And then after 50, I respecced to demonology for the Felguard, best choice I ever made on my warlock. The Felguard provides an amazing tank, and some of the spells you get in the demonology tree improve your character's abilities incredibly. I thought I would include a spec that i used at 50 and one i am currently using to farm at 70. If you guys ever have any warlock questions don't be afraid to ask. Keep up the good work. Here is the spec i used at level 50- http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/warlock/talents.html?0000000000000000000002052030131250102501251000000000000000000000 And the one I use at 70- http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/warlock/talents.html?0501220510000000000002052030131250103521351000000000000000000000 3rd Email Welcome to Dual-Boxing Glanthur! I agree with Aprillian ... FFA FTW, and get the follower to complete the quest first ... ALMOST. Why "almost"? When doing grinding quests such as "go find me 30 human heads", and you kill 10 humans and only 2 of them turn out to have heads, (go figure) I found that it's faster while both character have the quest. If one character completes the quest, the drop rates seems to drop. I guess it makes sense mathematically. So I get the follower up to 29 heads, then work on the followee, so they both finish about the same time. Ash Glanthur is leaving. RL sucks sometimes. Ashayo has graciously accepted

Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 45 - Play Your Way
Aprillian and Glanthur discuss the many play styles of WoW. Talk about what they've been doing, re-entry into WoW after taking a few days off, developments in the Guild Bank and going back to Basics to RTM! What We've been doingAprillian Glanthur: Re-Entry OK, It's that time of year again -- when everyone goes to the mall. So, work has really picked up. And, because of that I have very limited time for World of Warcraft. Now, I know a lot of people think that there's ALWAYS time for WoW, and you're right. However, last week also marked the release of Mass Effect, an Xbox 360 RPG that I had been waiting patiently for. New always takes the place of old, but I find that WoW is like your comfort foods. You may want to try snails, you may even like snails, but grilled cheese sandwiches will always be delicious. But, going back into WoW after some time away can be disorienting. Here are some things that I do to help get me back in the saddle again (which ever mount it happens to be): - Challenge allies to duels outside a capital city. This will help you refamiliarize yourself with your hot keys and keyboard layout. The point is that it's OK to die. Better than running to your corpse across STV. - Look over your quest and remember "The Tubes" are a great resource. Get your bearings and remember all those quest items and XP you were lusting after - Go shopping. Nothing gets you back in the mood than a little spending spree at the AH. What good is fake gold if you don't spend it. Splurge and get those blue leggings you have been craving. If you're low on gold, then spend some cash on materials for professions. Leveling your professions also helps get me back into the swing of things. Play your own way Working out Guild Bank issues Back to Basics Strength (STR) Increases your Attack Power with melee and ranged weapons. Increases the amount of damage you can block with a shield. Agility (AGI) Increases your Attack Power with ranged weapons. Increases your Armor. Increases your chance to score a critical hit with a weapon. Increases your chance to dodge attacks. Increases your Attack Power with melee weapons (rogue, hunter, and druids in cat form only). Stamina (STA) Increases Health. Increases your pet's Stamina. Intellect (INT) Increases Mana. Of course we talk about Patch 2.3, the mini-expansion What We've been doing:Aprillian We decided to start over on a PvP server, as alliance. Patch stuff Guild banks are cool. Perfect for people with alts. No longer do you have to remember who is holding what or use Rpgoutfitter.com. You can store stuff in the guild bank. Not too much room so you won't be storing silly stuff. It's going to make all the difference for true altaholics. If you have 3 accounts like I do and a bunch of different alts, it's worth it to invest in a guild and guild bank. Tips: Eggs, start collecting small eggs for the Holiday season. You'll need them to make cookies. So will everyone else. You can sell them on the AH right at the start for a few gold.
S1 Ep 1Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 43 - So Much Questing, So Little Time
We're back after a little hiatus. Aprillian and Glanthur discuss Hallow's Eve and what they've been doing. Glanthur is interested in putting some more RP in the RP Server they are on. Hollow's Eve is here and there's so much to do. But sometimes RL intrudes. Sorry for the Hiatus. Timing and colds prevented us from recording. Hallow's Eve = good fun Aprillian: I felt like doing some triple boxing. I had been dual boxing here and there, including some double dual boxing with Ashayo in the Hinterlands. It's nice because we both understand the intricacies of operating two characters at a time. This week I took Aprillian my Level 33 Belf Warlock, Rilfire my Level 51 Orc Hunter and Auntrillia my level 60 Troll Hunter to Felwood. It's very tricky because at level 33, in an area where the mobs are 49 to 52, Aprillian aggros everything in a very large area. But the beauty of bringing her with the higher level hunters is that while standing back and offer auxillary assistance with one of her demon pets, she accrues Timbermaw Rep. Oh and a bunch of exp. By the end of the week, she was neutral with Timbermaw and had dinged a level. Rilfire is now friendly as well. Auntrillia didn't get much because at her level, she only gets 2 points of rep for every 10 that Rilfire and Aprillian was earning. New Mail Rules - I was afraid they were going to affect me. Someone says in trade they needed a Deadly Blunderbuss. I whisper back that I have one for 2g. They whisper back, there's one on AH for 1g. Okay then buy it. He said something about not being born yesterday. Well to me 2g for an item I trained to craft and gathered the materials and then stored it in my inventory is not a lot of money. Glanthur: * Been trying to play Arlaerus some. I just missed Alliance so much. Ironforge and Stormwind are just such great places to hang out. Did some grinding and questing in Stranglethorn Vale as well. * Grinded the good-old Bloodsail Buccaneers. Even killed one of the captains (all while soloing). * Do the alliance get turned into Horde characters? Seems the answer is no. Are you on an RP server? Episode 42 - The Answer What is the question? Welcome to listeners who found us via Podcast Alley. Aprillian: Got a little big hung up on the Brewfest. Tons of Quests there Quea rode the Barker Ram almost all the way to Crossroads. Then road it back to Senjin Village. Making cool videos using the built in video capture for the mac. One more level until the next skill buying spree for both of them. I also started a new Undead, Warlock named Mortlente (slow death in French). S1 Ep 1Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 40 - Alts Tips and Stuff
First we would like to apologize for the poor sound quality in the previous 3 or 4 episodes. We were experimenting with internet recording and obviously we haven't worked out the kinks yet. So we are back to recording together in Aprillian's "studio". Second, someone asked if we had message boards. Well we aren't really geared for that. But, if you would post a comment in this blog, we will respond to it. In fact, I think we will be commenting on thing from the podcast in the blog, so check out the comment section. What we've been doing: Glanthur - I leveled up my BE mage (Palanor) and I am really digging a mage. He's extra squishy. I think that even my warlock and my priest are more resilient to damage. To compare and contrast, my paladin absorbs around 60% off all damage. My mage absorbs about 15%. Yeah. I also decided on herbalism and alchemy for my professions with Palanor. I'm excited to get to 20 since then I'll be able to start going into instances. It's going to be a lot of fun since my mage is already shaping up to be one of the highest damage-dealers I've played yet. I know this is common for mages, but I'm just not used to actually killing MOBS before they can even reach me. Thanks Frostbolt. Aprillian - Had a personal tragedy, lost a really close friend, Azeroth helped make it bearable. Spent some time working on leveling Pri, my level 17, now 18 Rogue Twink to be. It was very satisfying to lash out at things in Azeroth to help deal with the pain of losing someone. S1 Ep 1Ctrl Alt Wow Episode 39 - Back to Basics
What We've Been Doing This Week Glanthur: My goal for this week is to start getting all of my lower-level alts up to at least level 10 (and that all-important, first skill point). I figure that doing that will help me get out of the frustration I'm feeling by not having a nice Alliance guild for Glanthur and Arlaerus to join on the Earthen Ring server. Also, finally got the PTR Test Realm up and running. Created a pre-made hunter, paladin, and druid. It was cool, but after only a few minutes I was overwhelmed. It's like winning $300 million in a lottery drawing. All of a sudden you have all of this stuff, and you're not sure how to use it properly. You think you know what you want, but you feel empty, like nothing of it was actually earned. I feel like rolling a mage - a BE mage. I'm stuck on the Alliance side without a nice guild for Glanthur and Arlaerus. However, on Horde side, I have Ashayo and Aprillian. So, hopefully I'll be able to level Palanor up quickly. I'm thinking Frost Mage. =) Aprillian: Clefthide leg armor obsession.

S1 Ep 1Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 37 Casual vs Hardcore
Glanthur is out of town, and Ashayo graciously steps in to cohost. Casual vs Hardcore? Fun vs. Method? Just what constitutes a casual player? Are there different layers of casualness? Aprillian plays around 40 hours a week. But still plays in a casual manner. How does a casual casual player play. What we've been doing this week. All of my alts have been sending greens to Aprillian and Veyle to DE. Have also moved some alts around to use for storage. Bought Enchanter's Satchels in Thrallmar, 20 slot enchanting supply bags for several storage alts. They are BOE but worth it for the extra room. I've re-specced Jekle to resto. He was feral, but he hardly ever gets into actual battle, and in tough battles I was running out of mana too quickly to heal efficiently. I tried it out in Stromgarde last week. We went in there to knock over all the quests with Albinobull, who is a mighty fine warrior in the guild, and Jekle was cruising with healing. Even though Ashayo is exalted with the Netherwing, Ogri'la and Sha'ari Skyguard she still does some of the daily quests because they are both fun and good money earners. You get about 12g per quest. And they can take as little as 2 minutes in the case of bombing runs. And Ashayo has also been taking Asheal, which is my level teen-level undead priest, through wailing caverns. I'm sure Blizz has it in for me. When I was taking my rogue through deadmines to get the leather defias chestpiece, the cloth vest would drop - about 14 times in a row. And now that I'm running a clothy through wailing caverns, I'm getting mail and shields and other stuff useless to a priest. Anyway, I got her to 20 last night, so that I can artisan tailor training. Hopefully I can level her a bit further during the faire next weekend. And I've levelled Hiide to 300 alchemy so he can start doing arcanite transmutes for the faire. And I did some farming with Ashayo. One of our guildies is trying to level enchanting, and needed some nightmare vine for making wizard oil. And that's only found in Shadowmoon valley. Farming with a flying mount is alot easier, because you can literally drop in on the node, and if you draw aggro, take off again before dismounting. So you know if you have to clear to get to a herb or ore. We close with Episode 5 of Ashayo's Dual Boxing Tips. Thanks Ashayo.
S1 Ep 1Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 36 Guilds: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
The show's subject was prompted by an email from a listener on how to deal with guild drama. What we've been doing. Ardrion, Level 28 was attempting to complete some quests in 1k Needle but ends up dying too much, so he brings in Aprillian. Used Auntrillia to go to Winterspring and Moonglade to get enchant recipes for Veyle Speaking of Veyle, she's my level 37 Rogue and for the first time in a long time, I played her. And I solved a problem that had been plaguing me. How to get her lockpicking skills up. I had done the boxes on the boat in Ratchet and the ones in Stonealon Mountains, but looking for them took time. Then I heard all this talk about picking pockets and it wasn't until Rilfire took Veyle to RFD and she started pickpocketing the Quillboar there and getting a bunch of worn lockboxes, that it all clicked. Ashayo's two characters Hiide, a hunter, and Jekle, a druid have dinged 40 this week. Email no. 1 Hey Aprillian and Glanthur, I was wondering if in your next podcast you could talk about guild drama and how to handle it. Some people panic and go crazy at the thought of people leaving (like in AIE) and some just remain calm. -Vino Uchihavino in Alea Iacta Est For the Horde Email No. 2 Hi, I'm Marco Aka Dorom from the WoWBOX podcast which will be coming to iTunes soon. I play on the Eu realms on the Shadowmoon PVP server and I listen to your show every week. I find your podcast more cheerful than others and I always have a smile on my face while listening to it. I have 2 questions for you. The first one is, how can I make good money in WoW while being a low level (Blood Elf Paladin level 16)? I always find it hard to make gold fast. Also, can you give me some advice on starting up a podcast and getting it out there? Keep up the good work on the podcast and keep those episodes coming. FOR THE HORDE!!!! From Marco PS> Sorry Glanthur. Aprillian: Money is funny in WoW. When you are low, it seems like you never can get enough. But then once you get some, you get more. At level 16, you aren't suppose to have a lot of gold, unless you have a higher level alt. I started on a server, and I picked a profession I liked, two gathering professions, mining and herbalism. And I just started selling stuff on the AH.
S1 Ep 1Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 35 Working Together with Friends from Afar
What we've been doing Auntrillia in Outland Rilfire in WC with Relaq - Relaq is now unrested and tried to take her to SFK to level. I now think this is the wrong aproach Veyle made some Green Iron Hauberek - blue chest mail - I need money for all of my characters. Sometimes you go for the loot and the levelling and of course the fun, but then sometimes you just need gold to train. With many alts, sometimes resources are plentiful and sometimes you find yourself a little short. As we've said before, there are so many ways to play this game. Arlaerus on his Mount Remodeling, what fun. I have to admit to being a little lax when putting up the show. The show takes about 5 to 7 hours of time outside of the game. Once the podcast is recorded, I am anxious to get it up and going. But now that this has been brought to my attention, I will try to put a little more effort into the processing part. I listened to this episode and did what I could to adjust the volume, I hope it is better. Glanthur and I discuss what we've been doing. It's a casual conversation and we don't really try to stick to any serious guidelines. If there's something related to Alts and mid level game that you would like us to focus on, drop us a note at [email protected] or [email protected] and we will address in our upcoming show notes. Auntrillia is enjoying Outlands to a degree. We touch on the differences of being Horde and Alliance in Outland. I made a small video comparing the Frostwolf Mount to the Raptor. Auntrillia spent hours in AV to get the 50 marks to get her mount. Check the show notes for my Utube video. I will be updating. Emails, Lovely Little Emails Hi, My main is a level 70 rogue on Uldum named Hap, and I have a level 11 alt on Earthen Ring (in your guild) named Tuskface (I hate that name). Anyway... I think I said on the forums that there were only a few good podcasts and the rest were junk. Yours was not one I'd heard before so I gave it a listen. I have the following suggestions: Your volume level changes during the show. Some parts are fine, but toward the middle things got very quiet and I had to turn my volume all the way up. I assume you must be editing each show. Before you do this, go through and normalize sections of the show, not just the whole thing at once, so that they are all at about 98%. It sounds like you are probably working from notes which is great! But (doesn't everyone have one) each part of the show could be a little more defined, then stick to each topic then move on to the next. If you forget something, do it at the end then edit that part into its proper place (but don't mention that's what you're doing - no one will know!). Content is good, and you seem to know your audience well (people with alts under level 40). This is great and not always easy to do. I'm glad there is a podcast for lower level players - it is something that has been missing from the WoW podcast universe. Not sure I would have reused the audio from that Australian dual-boxing guy. I don't like his segments. I would rather have heard you two summarize his thoughts, or had your own guest. So I think you're doing great! Keep up the good work and I will keep listening to your Podcast along with The Instance, World of Warcast, and WoW Chronicals. Darrell (Hap, Tuskface, Bearbutt, Dauria, and others) We hope we addressed some of Darrell's issues. We are open to suggestions, so please keep them coming Email No. 2 Hi Aprillian, Just wanted to tell you about some problems I had getting your show. I was one of your contest winners from a couple months ago (the flaming tabard from the tcg) and at the time regularily listened to your show by downloading it from Digg, onto my Mp3 player. But then, all of a sudden, your podcast started to be posted onto Digg in a format that my Creavtive Nano couldnt play...Acc or Mp4 I believe it was! I dont know too much about audio files, just that it wasnt Mp3 format and couldnt play. But then, just last week I was poking around on your website and found that you can get just about any format of audio file, for any of your podcasts right there! So I just wanted to say I am in the process of listening to the last couple months that I've missed, and I wonder if other people know that they can find a huge variety of various audio files from your website. And also wanted to mention that I like your new co-host also, you two really radiate a true passion for the game unlike other podcasts (*********) not to mention any names. (But listen to that one sometime....they almost spend their whole time during the podcast complaining about various aspects of the game) Ron Thanks again for the nice comments, and the information. Ashayo's Tips on Dual Boxing He goes into some details Aprillian is not that knowledgeable on. I am glad we have these great tips to share.
S1 Ep 1Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 34 What Did You Do When the Server Downtime
What We've been doing: Aprillian and Server downtime - Earthern Ring was down for 48 hour maintenance. Drove me crazy. I have alts on 4 other servers, but none that mean as much as the ones I have on Earthern Ring. So I made a resolution, I'm not going to put all of my eggs in one basket. Aprillian levelled herbalism so she can get flower for Treshel. Glanthur: I've been working on Arlaerus. He's half-way through level 38. Once I hit level 40, I'll put him on hold and level up some of my other alts for a bit (see "Alt Advice" below). With the 48 hours of down-time and preparations for a major life event coming up, WoW has (unfortunately) taken a little bit of a back burner. I'll soon be back in the saddle, so to speak. Email - None so far Dual Boxing w/Ashayo (2 episodes) - it got cut off, so we have a corrected version and a new version. Alt Advice - Visit alts: You can get caught up with one alt. But if you are a true altaholic, you will want to keep all your alt connections fresh. This means spending one hour a week logging into all of your alts on all realms. You might find one that catches your interest. Or learn something. And you will have some fun. THINGS WE DID DURING SERVER DOWNTIME! Arlaerus - did research on what gear he should use for his protection tree. Found out what the different armour suffixes are. Gorilla = Strength + Intellect. Eagle = Intellect + Stamina. Bear = Strength + Stamina. Boar = Spirit + Strength.
S1 Ep 1Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 33 It's Not All About the Levelling
What We've Been Doing.... Arlaerus: I found a nice bit of writing in the game. As a BE, I had to help an undead NPC create a "new plague" and one of my quests was to test this plague on a human's dog, Stanley, in Hillsbrad Foothills. Well, as I was questing with my Draenei, Arlaerus, one of the Alliance NPCs said that his friend in Hillsbrad had to recently put down his dog Stanley because it "grew to an enormous size and attacked anyone who came near". Hehehehe. Yeah, sorry 'bout that - my bad. Just shows how in-depth this game is. Arlaerus is Level 36 now. Almost to 40. I also have maxed out the number of alts I can have on Earthen Ring. =( Made a new alt - Troll Warrior named Zuule. Aprillian Auntrillia hits 60 - I don't think I made a big deal out of it last week, but this is the first level 60 character I've ever had. It just dawned on me that this would have been the level cap back in early January. Iwari is back in Crushbridge Hold - it was suggested she could go mine mithril in Tanaris. When I said liked being in the cave and having the convenience of multiple nodes. But the next question, but won't she stop getting xp? made me laugh. It isn't always about the leveling. Play Styles: Death Knight - What it means for alts - but more importantly: what is it? If it's anything like Warcraft III, it will be like a very naughty Paladin. Emails Hey, this is orcbreaker of the dentarg realm, you've been talking a lot about twinks on your podcast and I still dont know what the hell one is, please tell me so parts of your podcast can make sense. Well, hope you can let me, and other people know on a later cast. Ty Hey guys, this is orcbreaker again, I know I emailed you once today but I was just looking on wowwiki.com and apparently in the new expansion for wow they are going to be adding a new class that starts off at over level 50 apparently, they call it deathnight. Don't take my word for it because i'm not sure whether it's true or not but I'll keep an eye out for it again, cya We talk about twinks and the Wrath of the Lich King Finding the right vendor for fussy pets can be a right pain. So what I do is buy up big - buy 6 stacks of fish for that turtle. But you don't want to have it use up 6 slots right? No problem, mail it to an alt. Then on your alt, just return the mail. So then, wherever there is a mailbox, there is food! (There are alot more mailboxes than vendors or banks) Also, treat your pet with higher level food. For example, "Striped Yellowtail" says "requires level 35". But that's just for you! Irkle, my turtle, is only level 33, and I can feed him those. This has the added benefit of having him gain more happiness from the feed pet effect. (You know to always keep the pet happy (green) right? That way they cause 125% of damage.) Ash I am khalid mahmoud, A Bahrain national I have been diagnosed with Oesophageal cancer .It has defiled all forms of medical treatment, and right now I have only about a few months to live.I am very rich, but was never generous, I have given most of my assets to my immediate family members. What Aprillian has been doing: Twinking Pri - Networking helped, (guildies, internet) reworking my characters for alliance selling because of mail changes. Putting alliance at Neutral AH and Alliance in Exador on same account. This way, anytime I want something from alliance AH, I can now get it at once. Ally on Exador buys it, sends it to Ally in Booty Bay, who then puts it on neutral AH and my Horde Toon in Booty Bay can buy it and send it instantly to anyone on that account or in an hour to another toon. Consider putting a toon on all accounts in Booty Bay but would take up too many valuable Alt Slots. What Glanthur has been doing: Leveling Morion and Arlaerus. Morion has a felhunter now! Not as sexy as the Succubus, but could be a lot of fun? I'm sad about warlocks getting nerfed in the next patch, but I do see the potential of them being really overpowered at higher levels. I'd love to see protection-based paladins have more skills to make them a little bit stronger with their single weapon. I've also been collecting large amounts of enchanting material. Any day now Morion is just going to pop and go up 20-30 levels in enchanting. That will be a good day. Mail Hey Aprillian and Glanther this is lilthis again, now a 70 Night Elf Warrior, after listening to your last podcast where someone mentioned lightheaded i wanted to suggest another addont hat goes great right along side lightheaded it is called TOM TOM and it does just as the GPS it shows you where to go, any time cordinates are found in ligtheaded or throughout the game you can left click and it will put a nice marking on you map it can be found at http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info7032-TomTom.html and really helps, expect to hear from me as i will probable be sending in a recorded audio file this week as well keep up the good work. Hey Guys its Auho (Ah-ho) again. Lately I have been playing my level 16 hunter, Jovvi, and I was wondering if you could tell me a few tips to playing a hunter. Since you have mentioned several times that you have a few of them. Also in patch 2.2 Blizzard is adding voice chat for instance and raid groups to the game, what do you think of that? I'm all for it as long as it doesn't create server lag. Also I am a mod nut so I am going to tell you about another great mod I use called Mappy (http://downloads.curse.com/details/7917/). It takes your mini map and makes it a square. Which lets you see a lot more!! And if you use a lot of mods like I do it makes the buttons fit better around the map. Have a great week and FOR THE ALLIANCE!!! From Ashayo You only learn new grimmoires every 2 levels the same as training. So each time you train, just scroll thru the grims looking for "requires level xx" (eg 30) when you hit level 30. Train the current minion, put it on "stay" and walk away. At some distance, it despawns and you get the shard back. Summon the next, rinse and repeat! Ash Date: Jul 21, 2007 8:47 PM Subject: Fwd: 29 comments To: [email protected] Hi, Just listened to 30. Other than the staff in the library nothing really drops there for mages. Anyway, this mage is an enchanter. This is my first time with an enchanter. I had my other chars send the enchanter stuff they didn't need so enchanting didn't really cost me any out-of-pocket money. I'm at 225 and now I have to go to Uldman for the trainer. I'm not happy about that at all. I haven't had any lucky getting ported/summoned to BC though that would be the easiest way to go. I tried once to disenchant another's players soulbound item and was unable to. I gathered from the podcast that you can do this? I'll have to try again if that is the case. As far as disenchanting for the group, the shards sell for good money but not sure about the different dust. I guess it would be more money then vendoring the item. With all my chars I've been in some strange group policies as far as loot. I've had some that you never need no matter what. I've had some that players say "If XZY drops I ge

What We've Been Doing Aprillian Leveling crafts - there's something almost hypnotic about it. I keep thinking of that game that was played on ST TNG, the one Riker brought back from Risa that rewarded the player when they got a ball in a hole. Treshel is leveling alchemy Rilfire is leveling LW - She got to Thrallmar Getting caught up on making a particular item. Veyle, the BS, is basically a tool Ran lots of instances BFD SFK RFK Did a silly thing. After doing all the quest we had Glanthur - Haven't been playing my Alliance alts at all. I'm thinking about moving over Arlaerus and Glanthur to Earthen Ring so I can be on the same server. BEs are mean and nasty - very bitter. But, oh so pretty and I love the game art surrounding them. - Currently level 23, and have a succubus (coolest minion ever!) - Feel good about Horde now. I like double-dipping - Not too sure if enchanting is all it's cracked up to be. I'm guessing it only really pays off at the highest levels. Game play Auntrillia is level 59 and she got to Outland and saw it and said, this is good. But she has all these quests in "Vanilla WoW" and she wants to finish them. There are two schools of thought on this subject: You've been to Outland, you've seen the quests out there, they award more xp and more gold. Abandon the legacy quests you have and seek your fortune in Outland Play all the content you can, so what if you don't get as much xp and gold. You pay to play a game, isn't it more important to have fun Reputation...is it really that important? I've been playing for a while now, and I know you can get mounts from other factions with exalted rank, but what else is it in for you to get such a high level or reputation? PVP vs PVE? Email: Hi Aprillian, Love the podcast. I've been playing for 1.5 years now and I think I'm getting burned out with the game. I have several 70s on each faction and only log on to play them once in a while. I'm not sure how long you've been playing so my question is why do you still play? What keeps the game interesting for you? If you've only been playing for a few months then the game is fairly new. I've noticed that your highest character is 59 or 60 so you still have a ton of content to explore and experience. My problem is that once I hit 70 (several times now) I do the same basic routine: get keyed for Karazhan, run multiple instances to get better gear, etc. But what happens when you're done with Karazhan? Of course you go to the next upper tier raid content. It just seems that once you reach the level cap all you do is try to get better gear, which takes a considerable amount of time and effort. It's a long and tough grind to do it. I really do love this game but it just seems like once I start another alt I'm basically doing the same thing over and over again. Maybe I just need a break from the game and wait for the next expansion. If I do quit, I will continue to listen to the multiple WoW podcast I subscribe to to keep me well informed while I'm on my WoW hiatus. Keep up the great work, Akabeko - Kul'Tiras (US) Server. Aprillian's Response: I consider myself a career gamer. I've been looking for a game that could hold my attention. I've been playing WoW since October 22, 2005 and I have yet to be bored. And yes, I do not have a character higher than 59. I've been enjoying myself. Several times I've had invites to join people who were doing the fast track, and it's never appealled to me. It's a lot like eating through a cake just to say you finished. But you've already done that, so let's focus on your choices: (Hope that didn't sound harsh) Start a Twink - I know we hate them in BG but there will always be Twinks and as the old saying goes, if you can't beat 'em join 'em Try Dual Boxing, if you can afford it. If you can't get two computers, most will be fast enough to run two WoW Clients at once. If you can't get another account, consider alternating leveling alts and getting two or three going at the same time. Work out a balance, make two gatherers, i.e. miner/skinner herbalist/miner or enchanter; then make one or two just for producing Blacksmith/Engineer or Leatherworking/Tailor and challenge yourself to make it with your own or almost all of your own materials. Find a really cool guild or start your own and have Events Or you could stop playing for a while and wait for the next expansion or big patch Or Start a podcast about WoW, oh boy! Or you can just say you won and move on 2nd Letter Hi again, I thought I'd send a few comments about your last podcast. First, I'm almost 99% positive the anvil/molten station by the TM wagon/seller has not always been there. It must have been put in the last few weeks. Second, I found your guest interesting. There are lots of different ways to play WoW (not that I have to tell you). Whatever people enjoy is my opinion as it is their money. Later, Kurt

Mini Goals Got Auntrillia to 58 and she's gone through the Dark Portal. It was very exciting. I didn't know how to get there, I felt stupid asking because everyone seeemed to know. For those that don't know, you can fly to Swamp of Sorrows, either from Undercity or Camp Gromgol into Stonard, then go south into the Blasted Land and follow the road all the way down until it splits, take the right hand fork. After you go a little bit further, you will hear and see the thunder and lightening from the Dark Portal. I will be contacting them and sending Austin the upgrade to Burning Crusade key and Ron will get the Landro Longshot Tabard Friends Someone brought Taverncast After Hours #3 to my attention. http://www.taverncast.com/ The guy running the show did a trial I want to counter his view point. He made several assumption that: Someone being on were being irresponsible, just because he was. No one said anything about being total divorced from the real world Not everyone is rushing to 60 His experiment was not a reflection of real gameplay They took a valid and interaction and focused on the worse parts Why do we have friends? To hang out with have fun with help when you need it. How do you pick friends When I moved from an all Black neighborhood to a mostly White on in 1976, I had to make a choice. Do I hang ... I chose to hang out with people I had something in common with In WoW By guild affilliation Needs WoW is less subjective to physical judging (is this good or bad?) I think the hardest thing for the non WoW players to understand is the complexity of the game. The viewpoint is that it is merely a shootem up game and we as players are spending hours firing weapons and killing things. While there is a large amount of this going on, a lot of time is spent doing so many other things. Interacting with others AH - figuring strategies, doing research. The dynamics change

Grinding Rep and Helping alts and silly transfers. Closing tag contest extended 1 more week. It did Log into my toons on the Baelgun server and take everything of value from most characters and put everything on Sherrinna the Level 14 Priest so I can transfer her to ER. Great things I did this week Make it to Winterspring on my level 56 Hunter Auntrillia Grinding Rep is time consuming. To explain Grinding Rep - Some quests require you to "make nice" with a certain group. For instance I needed to get to Winterspring. The only way to get to Winterspring is through a tunnel that is full of Timbermaw Furbolgs but if I kill of a bunch of their enemies, Deadwood and Winterfall Furbolgs they will like me and eventually I can at least run through their tunnels without them killing me. But there's another quest I need to actually be able to talk to these guys and they won't do that It's Alt Relative - I wanted to go over the relationships between my alts Main Alts - Ardrion and Aprillian Aunt Rillia - Ardrion and Aprillan's Mother's Younger Sister (Rillia, a Troll, was actually adopted by the Blood Elves) Veyle (Level 36 Troll Rogue) and Iwari (Level 44 Orc Warloc) - Used to fight with A & A's parents in the Old Days. Alt Tips Retuning Alts I spent the weekend retuning my alts. • You shouldn’t feel locked into a profession for life, especially with alts. Once an alt is in the upper 30’s or 40’s, the skills they have might not be as useful, or you might have another alt who can do the job just as well if not better. o Treshel was a miner, but I had transferred in Iwari and she was around the same level in mining. I was hardly using Treshel to mine. I wanted to use Treshel to farm the Scalding Whelplings in the badlands. They drop a lot of loot that’s sellable and they sometimes drop a rare pet Dark Whelpling. o Emails Email #1 Hello! I love your podcasts and hearing about your alts. I was wondering how you felt about younger players. I am only 12 but I love the game and I'm completely addicted. I was getting annoyed on the non-roleplay realms because if I told anyone my age I would never hear from them again, this caused alot of problems while looking for a guild. I would really like to know your opinions on this subject. I am a bit sad right now because WoW keeps glitching badly and shuting down my pc, but your podcast cheers me up :) Email #2 Aprillian, I wish I could say that I'm an alt-aholic, but I'm not. I'm a WoW podcast-aholic and have checked out pretty much every WoW podcast on iTunes. What I can say is that I really enjoy listening to your adventures with your alts. From dual-boxing to collecting 1g, it's fun to listen to your excitement while playing WoW. Your memory is much better than mine, because not only are you remembering what happened to your alts, but you're remembering the NPC and location names with great accuracy. I know you recognize and listen to the other podcasts out there. Yours fills a niche that not many cover, since there's nothing like listening to personal WoW experiences. Spending the extra time to index your podcast and write up show notes makes it all the better. Keep on having fun - with WoW, playing all of your alts, and creating a great podcast too. Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 19 - Alt Tips and Misc
What’s Going On I’ve decided to restructure Ctrl Alt WoW. There will now be just four sections: What’s going on Tips for playing with Alts Email Closing Thoughts I think Alt Round up will be mentioned in each section. I am doing this because I find myself holding back on something an alt did in the ohther sections and then skipping over it in Alt Round Up as I go down the long list. Created 2 characters on Lethon, a PvP server. · I’ve joined Randy Deluxe’s Guild –“Phat Loot Fishers” Also tried my hand at PvP PvE makes me feel powerful and strong PvP makes me feel stupid What I did this week Visited Shattrah – Found out in guild chat that you can get a port there with a mage. I logged on to Rilfire on the Baelgun server and did a /who 70 mage search and whispered a few mages. At first I was whispering mages in Shattrath. Then I realized I needed to find a mage near me. I found one in Undercity who was willing to port me for 1 g. Then I logged on with Aprillian on the Baelgun and had the same mage port me to Shattrath. I was in awe. Then I logged on to ER and did the same thing with Aprillian my level 20 blood elf. I had gotten Shattrath fever. When I showed up in Shattrath, I ran right into a couple of guild mates, Ashoyo and Kalisynth, two awesome warlocks. We set about finding the inn so I could set my hearthstone to Shattrath. Once we got there, they asked in guild chat if anyone wanted to be ported. So we started pulling people to Shattrath inn and it was awesome. The neatest thing is that there are portals in Shattrath that will take you to the 8 major cities, four for each faction and you can only go to your faction city. This is great! Decided hunters were more my thing. Someone in IF asked where I got my hatchlings Newbie area tip, you can hearth http://www.rpgoutfitter.com/ You can see what materials are available among your alts. Let’s take a look at it. There’s no end game content, because most of us alt-aholics never get that far, but there are useful tips on how to make the best of all those alts you can’t help yourself from creating. You can find us on iTunes or visit our website at Ctrlaltwow.com. Thanks Andrew, Scott and Randy for keeping the bar of WoW podcast raised high.
S1 Ep 1Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 18 A Cool Fun Game or a Complete Waste of Time
What’s Going On My husband and I had dinner with another couple on Friday Night. I had spent all day Friday on WoW and I was rather excited about the fun things I had done. I mentioned something that happened in the game. To my surprise, the woman of the couple had never heard of WoW and after trying to explain it, she called Online games a “complete waste of time”. What I did this week Embracing RP WoW News Tinfoil Hats – possible April’s fool joke http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/items/tinfoilhat.xml Cloth Schematic: Tinfoil Hat Binds when picked up Requires Engineering (375) Use: Teaches you how to make a Tinfoil Hat Tinfoil Hat Binds when equipped Head 10 Armor -10 Intellect +10 Spirit Durability: 5/5 Requires Level 10 Equip: Hides the wearer's profile from the Armory. I just wanted to start by saying that I love listening to your show. It is great that it comes out more frequently than most other WoW podcasts and with a "little bit of regularity" which is great for me because I listen to a lot of podacsts and I'm always looking for more stuff on WoW. I heard you mention on a recent show that you used only a few add-ons and that most of them were purely cosmetic. I found it amazing that you didn't have one of my favorite add-ons that is almost necessary for alt-freaks like yourself. It's called "Recipe Radar" and it allows you to see all the recipes that are available for all the professions in the zone you are currently in. Better than that, once you have loaded this program and logged on to each of your toons, it will remember which recipes each toon already has and what level their profession currently is. Recipe Radar will even show you on a mini map the general location of where the NPC that can train you (or sell you) is and if you use Cartographer with it, it will place a marker on your big map as well. There are even more features that you will find useful in this add-on too and you may wonder how you have been playing for so long without it. Sincerely, -Amaging (68 Gnome mage) of the guild Seven Ate Nine on the Khaz Modan server. Closing Thoughts: I’m enjoying the game. It’s something I like doing. I am learning new things and it’s not a waste of time.
S1 Ep 1Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 17 - The Multi in MMORG
What’s Going On Talk about Guilds First Guild – Everyone rushing to 60 soon fell behind – first taste of drama Second Guild – One day logged on and it didn’t exist – felt homeless and confused • Regrouped, got stronger, felt good • One day we got a message everyone was joining another guild o Felt betrayed o Decided to make a guild of one – Enjoyed it, especially with dual boxing Then came The Instance Podcast Invitation, decided to try it out. Found out what it’s like to be in a really good guild Immersed completely in alea iacta est Did what a good guild member should do, followed the instructions for the guild. This involves downloading and installing specific Add ons. These included: • http://www.rpgoutfitter.com/GuildProfiler/ • http://www.rpgoutfitter.com/CharacterProfiler/ • GEM – Guild Event Manager Being a Good Guild Member takes work and dedication. The transition from being a Guild of one to one of 1000 is amazaing. Read the forums for both what’s coming up and what’s going on. It’s also a good way to get to know people. Speak up in chat, even if you don’t have a lot to say. Don’t be afraid to ask for help and to offer it. • Aprillian is an enchanter on Earthern Ring and I love running up to people with the Guild tag, inspecting them and then offer them the enchants I can do. Ctrlaltwow is a Jewelcrafter and gives his stuff to Aprillian to give away in similar fashion. What I did this week Ran Instances for the first time in a long time – RFC – Ragefire Chasm – 2 times with some great people from the guild • I love this Instance Wailing Cavern – another great run. Got some good loot – finished a quest Went on a raid to Stormwood. It was so much fun. I put pix up at: • http://web.mac.com/ctrlaltwow/ It was exhilarating. There were many of us and as we ran up through STV and through Duskwood and then getting clobbered in the first little town there I think it was Raven Hill Alt Round up Didn’t do much on my “Main Alts”. Spent most of the time on Earthen Ring I’ve been playing mostly on Earthern Ring I transferred two alts to Earthern Ring, mostly helper Alts. • Prilfire, now known as Iwari, from Lightenhoof. She was sitting there all alone and I never use her. I had gotten her as high as level 37, she’s a Warlock and has Engineering 247 and mining 238. • Rillia, now known as Veyle, from Baelgun, she’s a level 36 Rogue with Blacksmithing 269 and enchanting 246. I won’t be playing them much but their skills will come in handy. It was fun to transfer them over. And yes I paid the $25 fee twice, but it was worth it. So my new main alts are now: Pair • Aprillian Level 19 Warlock Enchanter and Miner • Ctrlaltwow Level 16 Blood Elf Hunter o Because it’s a Role playing server, these two have a story. They are brother and sister sent out into the world and they have a character blog, something that was suggested on the AIE forum to help people roleplay better, and it’s a series of letters home. You can find it at http://aprillianer.blogspot.com/ Singles mentioned above and Jajal, replacement for Ctrlaltwow because of his name. Right now I am trying to level him up to 20, so he can do JC to 225. Banker Alts • Trexrar, Gruzilla, Wateva • Wateva is a Blood Elf and I got her to Dustwallow Marsh from Menethi Harbour. From there she swam to Ratchet. She died a couple of times from these things in the water, but each time she ran back to her body, she’d get a little further out and then was almost at Northwatch and she died again, and ended up at Ratchet graveyard and since she was only a level 5, I let the Angel bring her back to life and got on the boat and went to Booty Bay. So I have my dragon hatchling connection going again. Not as lucrative, I think others are catching on but still making money. I’ll have to find a new money maker. Favorite Places in WoW After finishing the Lady Sylvanas quest, I was sent to Sepulcher and Tarren Mills and walking along the road through Silverpine, I forgot how beautiful that area is. I will have to back there and kill stuff. Server Comparisons Jewel Crafting supplies Bronze bars & Tin ore No new email Did get a nice comment on iTunes, thanks Priesteffer. Run over there and add your own. Closing Thoughts: Find a guild that fits, keep looking until you do. Don’t be afraid to /gquit and don’t hesitate to join one because you can always /gquit. If you do join one, jump in feet first. I lost a good friend Steve Soltys, I just wanted to shout out to him the he will always look good to me and that I miss him more than words can say. I put up a special presentation yesterday of the Lady Sylvanas’ performance. I’m going to close the show with the full uncommented version of her lovely song. No. 1. What’s Going On No. 2.
