For contemporary believers, this vision underscores that Jesus Christ reigns supreme over all earthly powers, urging Christians to live with boldness, pray with authority, and recognize that the world rightfully belongs to Christ's dominion, encouraging a life of faith rather than fear.

Daniel 7 presents a prophetic vision where Daniel sees four beasts emerging from the turbulent "sea," symbolizing Gentile nations influenced by God's scattered people, Israel. These beasts represent successive world empires: Babylon (lion with eagle's wings), Persia (bear), Greece under Alexander (leopard), and Rome (a terrifying, undefined beast with ten horns), with the last featuring a blasphemous "little horn." The vision transitions to a divine scene where the "Ancient of Days" (God) presides over a heavenly court, and the beasts' dominion is stripped away. The "Son of Man," a messianic figure, is then given everlasting dominion over all, symbolizing Christ's ascension and reign. This vision underscores the temporary nature of earthly powers and the eternal sovereignty of God's kingdom, encouraging believers to remain faithful amidst persecution, as their steadfastness contributes to the manifestation of Christ's rule on earth.

When Darius ascends as ruler of the oikoumene, he appoints satraps to govern his provinces, among whom Daniel excels. However, jealous officials conspire against him, manipulating Darius into signing a decree that bans prayer to any deity or man except Darius himself for 30 days, under penalty of being thrown into the lions' den. This plot not only targets Daniel but subtly aims at elevating Darius to a divine status, contrasting with Nebuchadnezzar's earlier lesson in humility.Despite the decree, Daniel chooses to pray openly towards Jerusalem, not worshipping the city but interceding for its restoration and the end of the Babylonian exile. Caught by the satraps, Daniel is sentenced to the lion's den, but Darius, showing a stark contrast to Nebuchadnezzar's pride, trusts in Daniel's God to save him. The narrative unfolds with a miraculous intervention where God's angel seals the lions' mouths, sparing Daniel. The next morning, Darius, having fasted in concern, joyously finds Daniel unharmed, leading to the execution of Daniel's accusers by the same lions. Darius then issues a new decree, acknowledging the supremacy of Daniel's God, which signifies a transformation in his rule from one of human pride to divine recognition. This story not only portrays Daniel's personal faith and deliverance but also serves as a metaphor for the resilience and ultimate vindication of the faithful amidst persecution, paralleling the Christian narrative of suffering, resurrection, and the divine establishment of God's kingdom.

Initially, he acknowledges God due to divine interventions like the miraculous survival of Daniel's friends from a fiery furnace, but his faith remains superficial. God sends a second dream of a great tree being cut down to a stump, symbolizing Nebuchadnezzar's pride and impending fall. Daniel interprets this as a warning of Nebuchadnezzar's fate to live like a beast, which happens after a year of unchecked pride. This divine judgment leads to his eventual repentance and restoration, teaching him and illustrating to others that true leadership under God involves humility and acknowledgment of divine authority.
