Symbols are incredibly powerful. And there are few symbols more potent in demonstrating the continued existence of Christendom in the public mind than the widespread celebration of Christmas.
This is why the often lampooned "war on Christmas" creates such a visceral reaction in many people. It IS our holiday. We love it. And despise those who would attack it or subvert it.
