Given that Republicans have made it clear they will not fight on appropriations bills, debt ceilings, or reauthorization bills, it leaves us with budget reconciliation as their only opportunity for create enduring change. Today, I lay out the case for a course correction against the existing plans from Trump, Johnson, and Thune. The focus is too centered on taxes and things that can be done executively. The focus needs to shift to spending cuts and downsizing of government. As always, I offer my idea of what I would do for budget reconciliation and how I would message it around immigration cuts and welfare reform. There is the dangerous premise that somehow Trump needs a ton of border funding in order to enforce the laws. We’re joined today by the inimitable Jessica Vaughan, who explains that interior enforcement is key and all of that can be done with enforcement of the laws. We begin today by going through the omnibus bill and noting how conservative media close to Trump are missing an opportunity to get the big man in the right headspace. We saw this betrayal coming a mile away, yet we have failed to direct Trump’s attention to it. If we are going to improve things from Trump’s first term, the way he interacts with Congress must change. Next, we tackle the drone swarm issue with special guest George Hill. A former Marine, Hill served as the National Security Intelligence supervisor for the Boston office of the NSA and has a lot of important insights on the drone situation. Hill believes that the most likely scenario is that our military contractors are ops-testing our own security vulnerabilities in the era of drone warfare. In that case, the drones would thankfully be innocuous, but he believes the problem is that we just can’t trust our government. Hill reminds us that to this day, we don’t know why our government would purposely allow China to surveil us with balloons two years ago, and there are no innocent explanations. As part of that trust issue, Hill also explains that there is a pattern of behavior where our government allows adversaries to get away with harmful activity. Mike Johnson is betraying us with more spending even before Trump takes office. I explain why we need a fight over the speakership, but that will not happen unless we get Trump to change his legislative focus. Likewise, we are having similar problems in the red states. We’re joined today by state Rep. Jordan Pace, chairman of the South Carolina Freedom Caucus, to discuss everything that is wrong with the state party. Under the leadership of Speaker Murrell Smith, Democrats have been given key subcommittee chairs. Pace explains with painstaking detail the subterfuge GOP leaders use to advance the Democrat agenda without transparency. They have a corrupt process of picking judges, which often results in placing liberals on the bench. Next, I tackle a vitally important issue that is festering within Trump world. Trump is promising to sell off federal land and build “freedom cities,” which are nothing more than 15-minute cities. I explain how Doug Burgum and the tech bros who are pushing urbanization of red states will be behind this plan, and it will result in turning red states blue. The better idea is to create a new homesteading act, which would work to re-ruralize America by parceling out homesteads, which will attract more conservatives to live in those areas. I also explain how this idea is built upon the erroneous premise that the source of the housing crisis is due to a lack of housing supply and zoning laws. Now that Trump’s Cabinet is pretty much set, I go through my unique perspective on his individual picks and the direction of his administration in total. I’m very concerned about his picks for Treasury and Labor, mixed together with some of the others who will oversee domestic policy. There are three outcomes of this administration, and I raise concerns that one of them is the creation of a new centrist/lean-left coalition that permanently marginalizes conservatives. My concern is that we get all of the left-wing components of populism but not the right-leaning components. With that said, I’m not as concerned about some of the HHS picks as some of my allies. Although the surgeon general pick is terrible, the more consequential positions will likely be occupied by COVID heroes rather than COVID zeroes. We need to remain vigilant to achieve enduring victories before Democrats come back into power, and right now this can go either way. We’ve defeated Democrat control electorally, but now it’s time to break the Democrats' permanent majority over ideological issues. Today, I offer a provocative thought – that even as Democrats failed to win a permanent electoral majority, they have created a permanent ideological majority. Republican officials and even their voters now subscribe to so many liberal ideas on fiscal and social issues that are to the left of Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign. Next, I analyze Trump’s appointments and the race for Senate majority leader and offer a principled but pragmatic way to staff Trump’s Cabinet. Conservatives are concerned about the prospect of John Thune for majority leader, but the reason he will likely win is because they slept through red-state Senate primaries. I go through the list of red-state senatorial and gubernatorial elections for 2026 so you can see how big our opportunity is to change the party. If we actually build a movement, we can elect 15 red-state governors who govern like DeSantis, but only if we stay focused and get Trump to make the right endorsements. If they merely act the way they always do, they will not only screw us on policy but also lose their electoral viability. He makes the case that ID theft is the critical path to illegal aliens remaining in the country and that if states only enforced and augmented those laws, we wouldn’t even need to deport many of them because the employment magnet would dry up. DeSantis, who shares his work with churches on raising awareness about Amendment 4. He explains the proper role of pastors in this fight and why they have an obligation to fight when politics steps into God’s dominion. He believes that because of their other initiatives, they have successfully created a model partnership with faith-based communities that should be replicated in other states. Next, we’re joined by Blaze News investigative reporter Steve Baker for a riveting update on the recovery operations in Western North Carolina. Baker has been on the ground with private veteran groups for two weeks and has formulated a clear vision of what is and isn’t going on there. We have a very soft movement that is not willing to power through disruptions in order to pursue good policy. This is true across the board, but particularly on the issue of illegal immigration. I explain how illegal immigration would end overnight if Republicans were willing to go after labor brokers and actually enforce employment laws. The problem is that the Left, through an amalgamation of fiscal, cultural, and immigration policies, has created a self-fulfilling prophecy of Americans not wanting to do construction jobs. Republicans must be willing to power through a temporary disruption by removing illegal aliens, raising wages, and fixing our broken education and welfare incentives. Most people are not insane enough to refer to themselves as the opposite gender, but so many of us still act transgender. On today’s special evergreen episode, I share and expound upon Joy Pullmann’s excellent essay “How Feminism Makes Everyone Transgender.” She argues that conservatives have misdiagnosed our societal ills as stemming from too much femininity injected into government by liberal females. But, in fact, those women are extremely masculine and dysregulated. It’s a lack of femininity among a generation of women that is driving them to project their insecurities on society. I make the case that the lack of femininity among women is an even bigger problem than a lack of masculinity among men, and it’s a problem even on the Right. Too many on the Right are harnessing feminism to supposedly fight transgenderism, when feminism is what caused transgenderism and is even more destructive to society. The FBI has now revised the crime statistics to reflect reality. I explain how Republicans have missed an entire decade of messaging and policy opportunities to win back suburban voters on the crime issue. It’s become abundantly clear that the feds are not really interested in helping, nor are the people interested in accepting the help. We are headed toward red state self-sufficiency, and this effort will be led by veterans. To that end, we’re joined by retired Marine Colonel Mark Thieme, who is now executive director of the new Florida State Guard. He explains the need for the Guard and all of the lifesaving work they have done during natural disasters, as well as missions in North Carolina and at the Texas border. Unmoored from bureaucracy and from any federal control, Thieme is able to recruit talented people with the desire to serve and efficiently utilize their skills for maritime and aviation operations, reconnaissance, and search and rescue to augment the other state agencies. They are light and nimble to focus on the need of the hour. They have gotten so many recruits that they already had to turn away people. The Florida Guard has also been a landing place for veterans who left the service but still want to protect Americans without dealing with woke politics. There is simply no reason to suddenly believe the recent weather disasters are anything but natural. I discuss the problems with the woke, reactionary right constantly mimicking the left and the need to be more disciplined and effective in pursuit of the truth. We’re joined by veteran meteorologist and long-term forecaster Joe Bastardi of Weatherbell.com to explain the natural phenomenon behind this active hurricane season. He notes that while there might be cloud seeding technology that could potentially induce a snapshot, localized effect on one storm, it is absurd to believe that humans can control the entire atmospheric system that induced this weather pattern. He predicted last year, based on weather patterns across the world, that this would be an impactful hurricane season in the Gulf of Mexico. He also believes we can do a better job forecasting and communicating risk assessment of hurricanes. It’s deja vu. Remember how Republicans promised to repeal Obamacare and then actually preserved it? Well, unless we mobilize against the Green New Deal now, Republicans will not repeal the heart of the green energy subsidies. I warn that the oil and gas industry is already lobbying to preserve the grift and only repeal the tax increases and some regulations. We go through the irrevocable harm that will flow from such a move, the proper strategy and messaging behind full repeal, and the need to pass a repeal bill through budget reconciliation as the first major agenda item.
