S7 Ep 20CoasterRadio.com #720 - The Man With Our "Dream Job"
If we asked you guys what your "Dream Job" would be, we're guessing a lot of you would have the same answer... "Disney Imagineer." Unfortunately, only a select few get to have that title. So, it's understandable when some of the more famous names become the "rock stars" of the Disney and Theme Park Fan Communities. On this week's show, we pay tribute to Tony Baxter, a long-time Disney Imagineer who recently announced his retirement. Tony is responsible for many Disney Attractions that have become household names. We'll discuss his career and what it means to be an Imagineer in 2013 versus 1955. Plus, we'll hear from listeners about their favorite Tony Baxter rides. We'll also hear plans for a new theme park in Texas, news about Skyrush at Hersheypark and details about changes to the Fastpass system at Disneyland. Plus, we'll be visited by our brand-new correspondent who has detailed tips and trivia about some of your favoritetheme park rides. We only had to pay him $1000 for his appearance (and it was worth every penny!) Check out all of the show notes and links in our new interactive ZEEN - "In Styleee!" It's brand new for Season Seven!

S7 Ep 19CoasterRadio.com #719 - Gold Striker UPGRADED!
There's big news this week out of Northern California this week and we have the first interviews about it. California's Great America announced that their new roller coaster "Gold Striker" will now include the world’s longest covered initial descent tunnel on a wooden coaster. Adding intrigue to the record setting feature, Gold Striker’s 174-foot tunnel will be enclosed by wood on both sides, corrugated metal on top and in-fill underneath the tracks, to replicate a true "gold mine" feel. We'll talk with Tyler Currie, Director of Park Operations for California's Great America about the new ride and their big announcement. We'll also discuss some rumors coming out of Walt Disney World in Orlando. Word is leaking out about a possible re-imagining of the entire Downtown Disney complex.... complete with a new name, layout and a five-level parking garage. Interesting stuff... but maybe Mike and EB have a better idea of what can be done with the area. All this, plus a Live Trip Report from Kings Island, the return of "OFF TOPIC" and a visit from everyone's favorite Dutch Performance Artist! Check out all of the show notes and links in our new interactive ZEEN - "In Styleee!" It's brand new for Season Seven!

S7 Ep 18CoasterRadio.com #718 - Listener Questions: Part I
The best thing about this show are the people who listen to it. They are all fun, passionate people who share a love of theme parks. They are also one of the most engaged audiences out there. When we have asked for listener interaction in the past, we always receive interesting and energetic responses. That's why we love our yearly "Listener Question Shows." We received a ton of great questions this week. Actually, we received so many from you guys... we're breaking this show into two parts! This week, we'll answer questions like: * If you guys were still bachelors and had your pick of the girls of any of the countries in World Showcase who would you choose? (Extra degree of difficulty: No Norway.) * If you guys could punch one person in the theme park industry who would it be and why? * What was the most embarrasing thing to happen to you in high school? * Was the Disney Podcast Guy character based on anyone specifically? And if so, who? We'll also spend our "First Drop" segment discussing the best attractions created during the career of Disney Imagineer Tony Baxter. He announced his retirement last week, so we'll spend some time talking about his legacy and his classic Disney rides. PLUS, we'll have a Live Trip Report from Disney's Animal Kingdom and the return of the greatest Amusement Industry Game Show ever: THEME PARK SMARTS!!! Check out all of the show notes and links in our new interactive ZEEN - "In Styleee!" It's brand new for Season Seven!

S7 Ep 17CoasterRadio.com #717 - Pimp My Park: Disney Edition
Week after week, we get a lot of interesting feedback from you guys. One listener will write in and say that we need to focus on the regional parks more and less on what's happening at Disney. An hour later, we'll get an e-mail from someone wanting more talk about the Disney Parks and less about Six Flags and Cedar Fair. It's impossible to come up with topics that please everyone, but this week we might have one that comes close. On this week's show, Mike and EB will take a look at things that the regional theme parks can "copy" or "outright steal" from Disney to make the guest experience better for everyone. The audience steps in with their ideas, as we discuss ways our local parks can improve the family experience. We'll talk about ride capacity, front-of-the-line programs, food quality, attraction diversity and a bunch of other ideas that might make a trip to Six Flags a little more like a trip to Disneyland. Plus, we'll have a Live Trip Report from Verbolten at Busch Gardens Williamsburg and the return of "Off-Topic!" Check out all of the show notes and links in our new interactive ZEEN - "In Styleee!" It's brand new for Season Seven!

S7 Ep 16CoasterRadio.com #716 - 2013: What it's all About.com
We're only a few short months away from the regional parks beginning to open up for the spring. That means that the new attractions for 2013 will be opening at parks worldwide shortly thereafter. Are you aware how many new rides will be opening during the upcoming year? On this week's show, Mike and EB are joined by Arthur Levine, the Theme Parks Expert at About.com. Arthur and the guys will weigh in on close to two dozen of the newest rides that will be thrilling guests at parks this summer. Which ones will be hits and which ones will be misses. The guys will also discuss the recent rumor about how Six Flags might be interested in purchasing Sea World Parks and Entertainment. What would it mean if Shamu and Busch Gardens were owned by Six Flags? Plus, we'll have a Live Trip Report from Six Flags Over Texas and MUCH, MUCH MORE!

S7 Ep 15CoasterRadio.com #715 - We Stole This Show
Imagine covering 40 different topics of discussion in a 60-minute show. Sounds exhausting, right? Mike and EB will attempt to it, as they lovingly "ripoff" one of their favorite ESPN programs, "Pardon the Interruption." PTI is known for its fast-paced conversation, incessant bickering between the hosts and rapid-fire topics. The show uses a countdown timer in order to keep the conversation moving. Once the time expires, the hosts hear a buzzer and they have to move on to the next topic. They also have an updated rundown of the show on the side of the screen. If CoasterRadio.com was a video podcast, this week's episode might look like this: But even though we're an audio podcast, you get the idea. Topics on this week's show include: * Doubts about Cedar Point's supremacy amongst theme parks * Universal getting into the MyMagic+ game * Choosing the #1 flat ride in the world * Replacements for Son of Beast * Lou Mongello being mentioned in the Spiderman comic book series * Adults-only nights at the parks * Iconic rides being retired * Tom Hanks as Walt Disney * Plus MUCH, MUCH MORE!

S7 Ep 14CoasterRadio.com #714 - Rockin' New Years Countdown!
It's the start of a New Year! Happy 2013! To celebrate, we'll look forwards and backwards. We'll take a look at all of the Best New Attractions from 2012 and how they affected parks across the world. Which rides were hits? Which ones were misses? Which one will be crowned the "CoasterRadio.com Best New Attraction of 2012?" We'll find out on this week's episode. We'll also have an in-depth discussion about the new RFID initiative that Disney announced this week...MyMagic+. You'll want to listen closely to what the guys have to say, because Disney's announcement is going to radically change the way you visit their parks. Mike and EB will give you the scoop on how the FastPass+ system will work and the changes that are coming sometime in 2013. AND... since it is a New Year's Show, we'll have our 3rd Annual "Rockin' New Years Eve with Bob the Lobster!" Our own "Crustacean Correspondent" was inside the "Tank at Times Square" to report on all of the happenings at the "Crossroads of the World." He'll countdown to midnight, see the shiny ball drop and maybe even get a kiss from a famous starlet! Whoa! All that, plus a Live Trip Report from Dollywood on this week's episode of The Original Theme Park Podcast! Check out all of the show notes and links in our new interactive ZEEN - "In Styleee!" It's brand new for Season Seven!

S7 Ep 13CoasterRadio.com #713 - Guest Hosted by Ricky Brigante and YOU!
This week, we do something on the show that hasn't been done since October 10, 2005! For the first time in seven years, an episode of Coaster Radio will not be hosted by either Mike or EB. Instead, we welcome several guest hosts! First, as master of ceremonies, we're happy to welcome Ricky Brigante... host of the extremely popular and longest running Disney podcast in the world, Inside the Magic. Ricky will be the ringleader this week, welcoming CoasterRadio.com listeners as they introduce their favorite show moments from 2012. You'll hear the best interviews, guest appearances, character segments and stories from the past year. You might even hear a few things that are new to you! Don't forget to vote for the CoasterRadio.com Best New Attraction of 2012! Voting runs from now through Tuesday, January 8th. Check out all of the show notes and links in our new interactive ZEEN - "In Styleee!" It's brand new for Season Seven!
S7 Ep 12CoasterRadio.com #712 - Clark Grizwold Would Love This!
Earlier this year, we were amazed when we got to see "World of Color" at Disney California Adventure. It was absolutely amazing what the Imagineers could do with water, light and music. "Backyard Imagineers" can do something similar around the winter holidays. They take thousands of lights and animate them to music using computer technology! It's like having a mini World of Color in your front yard! This week, EB and Mike take a look at some of the best home lighting displays for 2012! Happy Holidays!

S7 Ep 11CoasterRadio.com #711 - The Holiday Spectacular!
We're just a few days away from Christmas... but the presents are here early! My friends, it's time for the 2012 Coaster Radio Holiday Spectacular! There are a ton of gifts under the tree, including... * Mike and EB's eerie predictions for theme parks in 2013. * A Live Trip Report from Silver Dollar City * A new "Christmas Carol" from one of the most famous theme park figures of 2012. * The return of "Off Topic!" S7 Ep 10CoasterRadio.com #710 - Outlaw Run and Game Show Fun
Here's a trivia question for you... Besides Walt Disney, who was Mike Collins' hero when he was growing up? The answer: Bob Barker from The Price is Right. Mike never got to meet Walt, but he did get a chance to meet Mr. Barker shortly after he retired from his game show. On this week's show, Mike and EB will channel Bob's spirit as they unleash a new game show... THEME PARK SMARTS! CoasterRadio.com listeners will hear actual members of the general public answer what we consider to be really easy questions about amusement parks. All the listeners will have to do is guess wheteher the person will get the answer right or wrong. It sounds easy... but it's much harder than you might think! Plus, the guys will discuss some of the new inverting wooden coasters that will be coming to American parks in 2013. That's right, America is getting not one, not two, but THREE inverting wooden roller coasters next year. All three are under construction right now! But which one will wow theme park guests when summer rolls around? Speaking of excellent rides.... It's time for our annual poll where we ask you guys what you think is the Best New Theme Park Attraction of the year. Make sure you vote between now and the end of the year. Mike and EB will be announcing the winner during the first show of 2013! Also on this week's show, a Live Trip Report from Disneyland's Candlelight Processional and MUCH MORE! Check out all of the show notes and links in our new interactive ZEEN - "In Styleee!" It's brand new for Season Seven!

S7 Ep 9CoasterRadio.com #709 - Disney Dragons and Haunted Mansions
One of the great things about being a fan of theme parks is getting to know the creative stories and legends behind each attraction. With all due respect to other theme park companies, no one does this better than Disney. The story and immersive atmosphere of the "Haunted Mansion" attractions captivate guests around the world. Recently, a group of filmmakers, special effects artists, composers and actors from Hollywood, California created an amazing short film that brings the lore of the "Haunted Mansion" to life. On this week's show, we interview Jeremiah Daws and Lisa Livesay from the new short film "Missing in the Mansion." We'll talk to them about the creative process behind the film, what is was like to shoot at Disneyland during normal park hours and how fans have reacted to what they created. And speaking of creative things.... We'll talk about the mysterious creature that has been flying in the skies over the Magic Kingdom this week. Curious fans have been staying up late, trying to catch a glimpse of whatever has been flying over Cinderella Castle each night. Mike and EB will break down what information is out there and possibly get the official answer to what the creature could be. Plus, we have a Live Trip Report from Canobie Lake and a whole lot more! Check out all of the show notes and links in our new interactive ZEEN - "In Styleee!" It's brand new for Season Seven!

S7 Ep 8CoasterRadio.com #708 - Own the Haunted Mansion
We're about three weeks away from Christmas... so now's the time to start looking for holiday gifts for family and friends. OR... it might be the time for you to start dropping hints about what you're interested in seeing under the tree. Odds are, whether you're giving or receiving, you have theme park fans in your life. On this week's episode of Coaster Radio, we're here to help! It's the 2012 Holiday Gift Guide! The list includes everything from inexpensive stocking stuffers to obscenely expensive items that would blow someone away. Heck, the list includes a 7-bedroom home that looks exactly like Disneyland's Haunted Mansion. You can have it if you have $870,000! Mike and EB also talk about the possibility of park's moving to away from a once-price admission ticket to a more dynamic pricing structure based on the day of the week and the time of year. Imagine paying once price on a Wednesday and a completely different price on a Saturday. Could this actually happen? We also have a Live Trip Report from EPCOT, a few celebrity visits and details on how you can win some amazing prizes from the show! Check out all of the show notes and links in our new interactive ZEEN - "In Styleee!" It's brand new for Season Seven!

S7 Ep 7CoasterRadio.com #707 - Thanks for Nothing!
On this week's show, EB and Mike let the listeners vent on what they are most (and least) thankful for at the theme parks this year. It's a chance to give thanks and complain at the same time! Plus, the guys discuss some of the big announcements made at the amusement industry's major trade show - IAAPA. Mike and EB will be joined by Clint Novak and The Legend from the "In The Loop" podcast. Clint and The Legend were on-site at IAAPA shooting dozens of videos showcasing the latest and greatest technologies on display at the trade show. Plus, we'll have a Live Trip Report from Six Flags Magic Mountain and a whole lot more!!! Check out all of the show notes and links in our new interactive ZEEN - "In Styleee!" It's brand new for Season Seven!
S7 Ep 6CoasterRadio.com #706 - What Would You Do?
We've all been at the park and seen a parent or other adult forcing a kid onto a roller coaster or other intense thrill ride. Maybe the kid is just a bit scared... but other times the kid is shrieking in sheer terror. On this week's show, we ask the Coaster Radio audience... What Would You Do? Would you get involved? Would you stay away? Would you watch as if it were bonus entertainment that you didn't have to pay for? We share a ton of listener stories about real-life events and how they reacted to what they saw. We even hear from a few parents who admit to being the ones who force their kids on the rides. Also, we have talk about the new ride announcements at Universal Orlando and Knotts Berry Farm, plus a Live Trip Report from Disney California Adventure!
S7 Ep 5CoasterRadio.com #705 - Holy Crap, Star Wars!
Sometimes there are big stories in the amusement industry... Maybe a new roller coaster is announced or a new park is being built somewhere. But sometimes there are stories that come along that entirely change the landscape of the entertainment industry. One of those stories happened this week. The Walt Disney Company announced that it would be purchasing Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion. This includes all of the Star Wars Properties, technical companies such as Industrial Light and Magic, LucasArts, plus anything else that George Lucas created over the last four decades. Disney also announced that fans can look forward to Star Wars: Episodes 7, 8 and 9, with the next installment due in 2015. (Nerds rejoice!!!) But what does this all mean for the Disney Theme Parks? Are we going to see new attractions and themed areas based on the hundreds of characters and locations in the Star Wars Universe? Could we see more rides based on the Adventures of Indiana Jones? Or, might be actually see an entire park based on all that George Lucas and his team created? The possibilities (and the conjecture) are unlimited!!!
S7 Ep 4CoasterRadio.com #704 - The Halloween Campfire Show
All Hallows Eve is almost upon us.... This week, we have the perfect show to get you in the "spirit" of Halloween. Mike and EB start this week's show with a bit of talk about whether or not Walt Disney World and Disneyland should consider an "adult-oriented" Halloween event at their parks. Universal Studios has pretty much cornered the market in Orlando and Southern California... but could Disney come up with something even better? After that, Mike reveals that he has spent $199.99 on a "Seance School" and wants to attempt contacting one of his heroes who has passed on to the afterlife. Will he be successful? And who is the spirit that he wants to contact? Finally, after a Live Trip Report from Busch Gardens Tampa, the guys sit around the fire pit with their marshmellows and S'Mores to begin the 2012 Halloween Campfire show. This is an annual tradition where the guys take actual back-stories from Halloween Haunts across the country and bring them to life on-the-air. You'll want to darken the room, light some candles, grab some candy (and your headsets) to join in on the fun!!!
S7 Ep 3CoasterRadio.com #703 - 80's-Style Murder in the Amusement Park
Here at the Original Theme Park Podcast, we love Halloween. We also love good horror movies from the 80's. So, imagine if someone made a throwback horror film that was set in an old, closed down amusement park... Yeah, they'd have our attention. On this week's all new episode, we talk with Cary Hill. He's the writer and director of a brand new 80's-style horror film - Scream Park. The entire film was shot on location at Conneaut Lake Park in Pennsylvania. Several of the key scenes were shot on and around classic attractions like the Blue Streak and the Devil's Den. We'll talk with Cary about what it was like to shoot his film in the park and how the rides and attractions influenced the story. We'll also talk about how Hersheypark's Thigh Crush... er, Sky Rush has closed for the season a little earlier than expected. Of course, the Coaster Boys out there have their own ideas on why this happened. But Mike and EB give their own unique take on the matter. Plus, we'll have your ideas on the ultimate setting to have a Halloween Haunt and EB's review of Holiday World's Happy Halloween Weekends! Check out all of the show notes and links in our new interactive ZEEN - "In Styleee!" It's brand new for Season Seven!
S7 Ep 2CoasterRadio.com #702 - Halloween Begins!
It's fun to visit theme parks any time of the year, but there's something a bit more special about visting them around Halloween. We love Halloween here at the Original Theme Park Podcast! We love it so much, that this is the first of three shows dedicated to the spookiest time of year. This week's show starts out with a bit of a shocker! You'll have to listen to the first 30-seconds to see what we mean! After the guys have a few minutes to process what happened, they discuss a story in the news about a man who died after partipating in a roach and worm eating contest. The contest was very similar to what many parks do during their Hallowen Haunt events. Will this have any affect on what the parks do thoughout October? Mike and EB also talk about how Kings Island is selling off parts of "Son of Beast." Is the price too high? Who would buy such a thing? And who actually came up with this idea? The guys have answers to all of those questions. Mike also has a trip report from Howl-O-Scream at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. He also had a chance to talk with Scott Gasparich, the Vice President of Entertainment for the park about what it takes to put on a massive Halloween Haunt like Howl-O-Scream. Plus, you'll hear what it sounded like when Mike and Greg walked though one of the most popular mazes... Deadline.
S7 Ep 1CoasterRadio.com #701 - The Joint Chiefs Return!
Any new listeners to our show might only know it has being hosted by Mike and EB. But back in 2005, the show was hosted by the five guys you see on the right. When the new version of CoasterRadio.com came out in 2009, Mario Flava and Greg had all moved on to other things. But as a listener said this week, they will always be a part of the show. But over the past year, many listeners (new and old) have been asking for the guys to come back for at least one episode. One astute listener obsevred thatNeil Patrick Harris has been on the show more lately than Mario has. So, to kick off Season Seven "In Styllleeee...," we're goin' OLD SCHOOL. This first episode of the new season features Mike, EB, Greg, Flava and Mario... THE JOINT CHIEFS. It's a wild show that didn't quite happen as the gang planned. But it does have the feel of being back in 2005 again. Check out all of the show notes and links in our new interactive ZEEN - "In Styleee!" It's brand new for Season Seven! Welcome back guys!

The guys look back on the past year of the show, and look ahead to what's coming to theme parks in 2013. This includes Gatekeeper at Cedar Point! Mike will have an interview with a Cedar Point PR Representative to talk about what riders can expect from the new attraction. Plus, the guys will have in-depth reviews and stories from their visits to both parks. It's two parks for the price of one, this week on the Original Theme Park Podcast!

When you're riding a really good theme park attraction, it's a true treat for the senses. You're being bombarded with visual imagery, scents, tactile sensations and immersive soundtracks. On this week's episode of the Original Theme Park Podcast, we're going isolate one of those senses and focus on what you hear when riding some of the world's best theme park attractions. You'll want to grab a pair of stereo headphones, because we're going to put you right in the middle of four of the most popular rides at Walt Disney World in Florida. S6 Ep 45CoasterRadio.com #645 - Son of Beast: A Legend is Born
What makes a roller coaster legendary? There are probably a lot of good answers to that question. But when a roller coaster is dismantled before it has a chance to grow old, odds are is going to be talked about and remembered for a long time. On this week's show, we talk about Kings Island's Son of Beast... a ride that is scheduled to be dismantled to make way for something new. The ride was groundbreaking, but troubled. However, over the next few years will it become legendary? Will people remember it for being a better coaster than it actually was? What other roller coasters shared a similar fate, but also went on garner "legendary" status? We'll also hear from Mike about his trip to Busch Gardens Williamsburg. He tried out their Quick Queue system and finally had a chance to ride Mach Tower! Plus, we'll have a Live Trip Report from Michigan's Adventure plus a few surprise guests and drop-ins!
S6 Ep 44CoasterRadio.com #644 - Breaking a World Record
As theme park fans, we've all done marathons on our favorite rides when the lines aren't long. Maybe we've been lucky enough to stay on our favorite roller coaster for several laps in a row on a slow day at the park. But most of us haven't had to endure staying on an amusement park ride for more than 24-hours in a row. On this week's show, we'll talk to Robbie Gibson... he's better known as "Robbie the Intern" on 104.9 Virgin Radio in Edmonton, Canada. Last week, he set the Guinness World Record for the "Longest Marathon on a Fairground/Theme Park Attraction" at 30 hours and 30 seconds! We'll find out all about his record-setting attempt and what challenges he endured along the way. Plus, it's possible that Robbie might have inspired one of the CoasterRadio.com guys to break the record in 2013! We also go to the CoasterRadio.com Voicemail Line to hear from listeners about their encounters with rude guests at the parks. From line jumpers to people who want to fist-fight... we'll cover it all! And, we have a Live Trip Report from Six Flags Great America in Chicago plus much, much more! And, we have a Live Trip Report from Six Flags Great America in Chicago plus much, much more!
S6 Ep 43CoasterRadio.com #643 - Stories About Your "First Time"
If you listen to a weekly show about theme parks and roller coasters, it's probably safe to say that you're obsessed. (And we dig that, man!) But this obsession of yours had to start somewhere. Do you remember your very first ride on a roller coaster? Even if you don't, a bunch of CoasterRadio.com listeners do! This week, many of them (along with Mike and EB) will tell their stories about the first time they braved a roller coaster. Some of the stories are scary some are funny, others are quite moving... but they're all interesting. Plus, we have a Live Trip Report from Disney California Adventure and Cars Land AND an epic rant about the downside of visiting a water park!
S6 Ep 42CoasterRadio.com #642 - Lex Luthor "Drops" By
There are only a few attractions in the world that a true thrill ride aficionado would think twice about riding. One may have just opened in Southern California. Six Flags Magic Mountain just unveiled the world's tallest drop tower ride... Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom. Maxing out at 400 feet with a top speed of 85 mph, this new ride has been making enthusiasts wonder if they have what it takes to ride. On this week's episode, Mike and EB break down the new ride. They even produced a video podcast where they provide "DVD-Style" commentary as they watch on-board video of the ride! Mike also gives us a Trip Report from his recent visit to Michigan's Adventure. It was Mike's first trip to the park, so he talks about his over all impressions and reviews of each of the park's roller coasters. One of them actually cracked his Top 10 list! The guys also asked the listeners to write in with their favorite movies or film scenes that take place at theme parks or on roller coasters. The audience responded with some well-known favorites and some really obscure flicks. After you hear this show, you'll be headed to Netflix or YouTube to see if you can find some of these movies! Plus, we have a Live Trip Report from Six Flags Great Adventure, an in-studio visit AND information on the 2012 CoasterRadio.com Olympics!
S6 Ep 41CoasterRadio.com #641 - Coaster Commentary - Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom
As a bonus to this week's regular episode of CoasterRadio.com, we have produced one of our "Coaster Commentaries!" Yes, we know Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom at Six Flags Magic Mountain isn't a roller coaster, but it's unique and downright scary enough to devote an entire video podcast to it.
S6 Ep 40CoasterRadio.com #640 - Denise, Stacey and the Orange Shirt Girl
Last summer, we sponsored a contest here at CoasterRadio.com where we would give the lucky winner a chance to produce an entire episode of the show. We were so excited about everyone's ideas... we chose four winners! Back in February, Tom from Louisville did a great job producing his episode... "The Live Trip Report Show." This week, the second of those winners is stepping up to the plate to see if she has what it takes to live up to the pressure of producing a crazy podcast like this. This week, Mike and EB are joined by Denise from Virginia along with Stacey from Michigan. The two will give the female perspective on going to Walt Disney World alone. The girls will talk about everything from dining and riding alone to possibly getting hit on by the International Cast Members at EPCOT. They'll also talk about some of the hidden gems in the Disney Parks that you can usually only find if you are there alone. We also have a Live Trip Report from Kings Dominion and Intimidator 305, an update on The CoasterRadio.com Olympics AND we have the World Premiere of C-Pain's Summertime Hit for 2012 - Orange Shirt Girl!
S6 Ep 39CoasterRadio.com #639 - Sorcerers and Superman
We're back with a jam-packed, all-new episode of The Original Theme Park Podcast! This week, we talk about Six Flags Discovery Kingdom's new roller coaster "Superman: Ultimate Flight!" It may last less than 60-seconds, but what it lacks in ride time it makes up for by being unique. The new ride includes multi-directional launches, several non-inverting loops and a barrel-roll at 150 feet in the air! (That's one of the tallest inversions in the world!) As a bonus to this week's audio podcast, the guys have also produced a video podcast that shows you footage of the new ride along with some "Coaster Commentary!" The guys also discuss Mike's trip to Walt Disney World. Mike had a chance to try out the new "Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom" interactive game. Is it work trying out the next time you're in Orlando? Mike will let us know! Mike also recorded some on-board audio while riding "Big Thunder Mountain Railroad" and "Space Mountain" at the Magic Kingdom. Be sure to wear your headphones while listening... you'll feel like you're there with him! Plus, we also have a Live Trip Report from Six Flags Great Adventure and news about the CoasterRadio.com Olympics! Plus, we also have a Live Trip Report from Six Flags Great Adventure and news about the CoasterRadio.com Olympics!
S6 Ep 38CoasterRadio.com #638 - Coaster Commentary - Superman: Ultimate Flight (Video)
Among the many topics n this week's show, is the new roller coaster at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Northern California... Superman: Ultimate Flight. This is really one of the strangest and most interesting looking roller coasters that we've seen in the last decade. As a bonus to this week's episode, Mike and EB watch video of the new coaster and comment on everything including the layout, restraints, theming and even the people the park chose to ride it on-camera! It's the perfect complement to this week's regular show!
S6 Ep 37CoasterRadio.com #637 - The 2012 Sparktacular Exploosioloosa! (Video)
We have a lot of traditions here at CoasterRadio.com. But one of our favorites happens every year at this time. Back in 2005, we shot off Fireworks during the show to celebrate America's Independance Day. Flava got the microphone as close to the sparks and flames as he could... and a tradition was born. Every year since, we have marked America's Birthday with this colorful (and very loud) tradition. A few years ago, we gave the celebration a name... The CoasterRadio.com Sparktacular Exploosioloosa!" And this year, we have produced a video podcast so you can see and hear the action! Plus, we have Fireworks footage from Illuminations at EPCOT and Fantasmic at Disney's Hollywood Studios! It's shaping up to be the greatest "Sparktacular Exploosioloosa' ever!
S6 Ep 36CoasterRadio.com #636 - HOT or NOT 2012
Summertime is heating up and so is the Original Theme Park Podcast! We bring back an old favorite this week! You see, EB and Mike have a long list of popular Amusement Industry topics for 2012. It's their job to go through the list and decide if each is HOT or NOT. Some of the topics include... Verbolten at Busch Gardens WIlliamsburg Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Cedar Fair over the last five years Windseeker The restraints on SkyRush at Hersheypark EB's Chickens Plus many, many more! We also have a Live Trip Report from Six Flags Magic Mountain and discussion about the new interactive queue systems that Walt Disney Imagineering has unveiled for their Dumbo attraction.
S6 Ep 35CoasterRadio.com #635 - Review of Cars Land and Insider Park Tips
On the week's show, we have one of the first on-site reviews of the new CARS LAND at Disney California Adventure. You'll hear about the rich detail of the new land as well as reviews of all three attractions! And then we have a question for you. If you took everyone who listened to the Coaster Radio podcast and put them in a giant room... what would you get. EB might have a snarky comment here... but what you'd have is a huge collection of knowledge about theme parks all across the world. I'd bet each of those people would have specific knowledge about certain parks they call home. On this week's episode, we ask the audience to share their best tips for having a great time at their home park. What rides should you visit first? Which attractions should you skip? What food is "must-eat?" What show is "must-see?" It's also fascinating to listen to all of these tips and realize how many of them apply to parks everywhere. We also take a look at the story of a teenager who dressed up as a famous Disney fairy while visiting Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World. She was asked to change out of her costume because she looked too similar to the "real" thing. Who's right in this situation? Who's wrong? Did the media blow this way out of proportion for ratings? We'll get to the bottom of it all. PLUS, we have a Live Trip Report from Coney Island!
S6 Ep 34CoasterRadio.com #634 - AJ from The Disney Food Blog
For this week's show, we hope you brought your appetites. Because we're going to talk about some of the greatest places on earth to eat and drink... Walt Disney World and Disneyland. Some of the most renowned chefs on earth work at the various Disney Resorts... cooking up tasty dishes and unbelievable pastries to tempt the theme park tourist. To help us with our Culinary Conversation, we'll be joined by AJ, the creator of the preeminent place to learn about Dining at Disney, The Disney Food Blog. Every week, AJ and her team of writers check out what's tasty and new at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. They've uncovered so much information, they've included it all in a series of e-books! (You've got to check them out!!!) Plus, we'll get into a debate on whether or not Disney should sell alcoholic beverages in their parks. Not just in EPCOT and California Adventure, but ALL THE PARKS. Would you like to have a tasty cocktail while walking through Adventureland? You might be surprised at how some listeners answered that question. We''ll also have a Live Trip Report from Hollywood Nights at Holiday World and a visit from the unruliest guest to ever visit Disneyland! It's all this week on an all-new episode of The Original Theme Park Podcast! (DING!)
S6 Ep 33CoasterRadio.com #633 - CoasterRadio.com Strikes Back!
This week's episode is sort-of a sequel to last week's show. And, in the tradition of Star Wars, we've given this episode a very special title. Last week, we got into a big discussion about the relationship between George Lucas and the Walt Disney Company. We wondered why Disney hasn't done whatever it needs to get Mr. Lucas to agree to building a gigantic (Potter-defeating) land or park based on the Star Wars empire. On this week's show, we asked the CoasterRadio.com audience to step up to the microphone and tell us what attractions they would like to see in a Disnet-built Star Wars Park. We received a lot of good answers, but any one that mentions the awesomeness that is Billy Dee Williams gets my vote. We also have a rather vocal debate with the audience about the pros and cons on on-board audio on roller coasters. Mike and EB have very entrenched feelings about the subject, but will the CoasterBoys be able to change their minds? We'll also hear about Mike's trip to Pennsylvania and his visit to Knoebels! Did the new "Black Diamond"dark ride-coaster hybrid live up to the hype (and history?) Plus, we have a Live Trip Report from Hershey Park and their new rollercoaster "Skyrush" and several surprise visits! It's all this week on the Original Theme Park Podcast!
S6 Ep 32CoasterRadio.com #632 - Give George Lucas Whatever He Wants!
For the next few weeks, Disney's Hollywood Studios is being over run with Jedi Knights, Sith Lords, Wookies, Droids, Bounty Hunters and a bunch of other characters from "a galaxy far, far away." "Star Wars Weekends" is the hot ticket at Walt Disney World and it seems to be more popular than ever. With the Boy Wizard making so much noise down the street at Universal Orlando, we want to know why Disney hasn't gone after the ultimate Potter Killer. Why hasn't Disney done whatever they need to do to get George Lucas to sign off on a dedicated land or a dedicated park solely devoted to Star Wars? We'll discuss it on this week's show and look for your opinions too! EB also has a full-scale review of the two new rides that debuted at Holiday World - Mammoth and Sparkler. Will the world's longest water slide live up to the hype? We also have a Live Trip Report from Disneyland, a winner in our SOUNDWAVE Contest AND we announce a new Summer-Long contest that will have people from all over the world competing in a theme park spectacle!!! It's all this week on the Original Theme Park Podcast!
S6 Ep 31CoasterRadio.com #631 - Verbolten at Busch Gardens Williamsburg
On this week's show, Mike heads to Williamsburg, Virginia to take on Busch Gardens' newest roller coaster - Verbolten! Verbolten isn't your typical roller coaster. It's an immersive thematic attraction that sends passengers twisting and turning through the forbidden Black Forest. There are a ton of great surprises and some of the most detailed theming Busch Gardens has ever done. Throughout the show, Mike will describe the entire new attraction area as well as the ride itself. He'll interview Larry Giles, Busch Gardens' Vice President for Design and Engineering. He'll tell us what it was like to take on such a massive project and what guests can expect from Verbolten. He'll also interview SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment's Corporate Director of Creative Development, Brian Morrow. Brian was responsible for the attraction's storyline and rich theming. He'll give us the attraction's back story and tell us about some of the unique aspects of the ride. Plus, you'll get to ride along with Mike and his brother Greg as they "Brave the Black Forest" for the first time! Back in Indiana, EB will have the results of our weekly poll question, play a Live Trip Report from Six Flags Great Adventure's opening day AND he'll have a new clue for our SOUNDWAVE Contest! It's a jam-packed all-new episode of The Original Theme Park Podcast!
S6 Ep 30CoasterRadio.com #630 - 2012 Season Preview
The very first episode of our podcast was on April 25, 2005. We spent that first show looking ahead at all of the new attractions that would be opening at theme parks across the country in 2005. Reviewing the new attractions for the upcoming summer has become an annual tradition here at the show and this year is no different. This week, we take a look ahead at 12 new rides and attractions that will be making their debut in 2012. From roller coasters to flat rides to water slides... we'll talk about new attractions that will demand your attention. Joining us on the show to lend his expertise is the Theme Parks Guide from About.com... Arthur Levine! Arthur will give us in-depth detail about each new attraction... including some breaking news about what will happen inside the event building of Busch Gardens Williamsburg's new coaster - Verbolten! Plus, we'll announce the winner of our HIMYM Caption Contest and give yet another clue in our Soundwave Contest! (You'll have to listen to the show to find out what that is!)
S6 Ep 29CoasterRadio.com #629 - To The Extreme!
People who like theme parks and thrill rides are often called "extreme." I guess people who travel hundreds of miles to ride the latest and greatest roller coasters tend to take a few more risks and try experiences that the average person might never try. However, there are some attractions out there that even test the courage of the bravest park fans. Heck, they even test the courage of the bravest podcast hosts! On this week's show, Mike and EB talk about what the listeners say are the most extreme rides on earth. To make things easier, they break up the conversation into three sections - extreme roller coasters, extreme water slides and extreme flat rides. Your stomach will turn just hearing about some of these crazy experiences. We also have some updates on the various CoasterRadio.com contests, the results of our interactive poll and details about a fun, new project we've devised for this summer! It's all on this new episode of The Original Theme Park Podcast!
S6 Ep 28CoasterRadio.com #628 - Shakespeare in Love (with Roller Coasters)
An interesting title for the podcast this week... but we'll explain it all. On this episode of the "Original Theme Park Podcast," we transition from the winter months to the spring and summer and get ready for the 2012 season! This week, we take a look at a recent survey conducted by Six Flags Over Georgia. Last summer, they asked their guests' opinions on different aspects of roller coasters and thrill rides. You'll be surprised at what they had to say! This week is also our first show back since "our" episode of "How I Met your Mother" aired nationally on CBS. Mike and EB will let you know how their lives have changed since becoming "background actors." Did Mike's new-found fame help him get "lucky" with a big breasted redhead in Las Vegas? We also announce two new contests... including the return of "Soundwave!" Plus, we unleash details about the "Most Interactive Summer EVER" at the show. Summer is almost here and everyone at the show is getting excited! We hope you are too!
S6 Ep 27CoasterRadio.com #627 - On the Set of "How I Met Your Mother"
As fun as it was to visit Disneyland and Disney California Adventure a few weeks ago, it wasn't the main reason for our trip to the west coast. Neil Patrick Harris invited us to come out to Hollywood to be extras in an upcoming episode of the hit CBS sit-com, "How I Met Your Mother." On this week's (very long) episode, we tell you the ENTIRE story. We talk about what we saw, our interactions with the cast and crew and what it was like to be a "background extra" in MacLaren's Pub.
S6 Ep 26CoasterRadio.com #626 - California Questions
We've spent the past two shows going over every details of our California Trip that included visits to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. But even with two whole hours devoted to both parks, there were things we missed. AND... the CoasterRadio.com audience was quick to remind us of the things we forgot to talk about. PLUS, there were some things that we said about the Disney's West Coast parks that upset some of our listeners. So, they sent strongly worded e-mails to let us know how they felt. We had so many e-mails and interest about the last two shows, that we decided to set aside this episode and answer all of them! Plus, we preview next week's show which is all about our visit to the set of "How I Met Your Mother." We even spill the beans on some of the stories about what we saw and did! Make sure to set your DVRs to record "our" episode of HIMYM! It airs Monday, April 16th at 8pm est on CBS!
S6 Ep 25CoasterRadio.com #625 - Our Visit to Disney California Adventure!
The Original Theme Park Podcast returns with Part II of our California Trilogy of shows! This week, we talk about all of the stories and details from our trip to Disney California Adventure. This park has been on people's minds a lot lately as Disney wraps up its major construction projects including Buena Vista Street and Cars Land. But will EB and Mike enjoy the park after visiting Disneyland just a few days before? What will they think of attractions like Tower of Terror, Soarin', California Screamin' and Toy Story Midway Mania? Plus, for the first time ever, CoasterRadio.com will present Binaural Audio from several points in the park... including audio from EB's first-ever ride on Tower of Terror. You'll want to make sure that you have headphones handy so you can close your eyes and pretend you're there! Next week, we want to hear from you with your questions about our California trip! Send them via e-mail, on Facebook and Twitter or by calling our Voicemail Line at 206-339-3360!

EB and Mike reunite to take on the park that essentially started the theme park industry. This week, the guys are at Disneyland! After spending 15 hours in the park, they experienced almost every ride and attraction on the Disneyland Map! In a show that's partially on-location and partially in our studios, the guys review the park and all of the famous attractions for which Disneyland is known! You might be surprised at which rides they really liked and which ones lead to "anticipointment."
