In 1995, Sabein Burgess was convicted of killing his girlfriend. During the initial trial, there was no evidence that linked Burgess to the crime except for the faulty gunshot residue testimony. The real perpetrator confessed to the crime will Burgess was behind bars. With new evidence provided, the case was re-investigated. In February 2014, Burgess conviction was vacated and charges were dismissed.
