Chicano Shuffle

Lots to discuss this week on the shuffle…or not enough… not sure. Either way, we handle. We start things off a little different this episode but then we continue on to the usual shuffle. The conversation kicks off with the Lorena Bobbitt documentary and other crazy 90s crimes. We throw in some old work stories of getting it done but slacking off at the same time. That somehow transitions to a recap of Valentine’s day, because someone is a romantic vato. Then we get into a discourse on Universal Basic Income and the changing workplace. Is it me or are these things getting longer… and longer. A Toda Madre! (Btw, the title is not a sex reference, get your head out of the gutter.) On this not so sexual episode of Chicano Shuffle… there is lots to discuss and someone has a notebook to hopefully keep us on track. We kick off with the usual randomness which leads to a discussion about food… no surprises here. The chat turns to recent news such as blackface and if apologies still count for anything. Then someone gives us a run down of his viewing of “11/9”. Yeah, while we have laughs along the way, this episode might lean to more serious issues. A La V#rga. Then we have a quick discourse about keeping the money in the community. The discussion about being respectful continues and weaves in and out. Disclaimer: This may or may not be a rough one (probably the former). Our little threesome has been cut down to a twosome today… it’s a sad day. That being said, we think we did a decent job but it might not be our best work. We do discuss some current events and other pendejadas. We also touch on the Gillette commercial controversy and even get a bit into the #metoo movement (which admittedly is a touch subject). Welcome back… it’s December… Christmas is coming… End of the year is coming… pendejadas are coming. First things, first… if you review the review show don’t base it on this one. Not saying it isn’t strong but by some standards (that we don’t adhere to), it might not be top shelf. We do talk about the upcoming Adventures in Lyfting, which took a misstep right off the bat. We also hear about someone’s church/religious days and how to convert a couple vatos. Plus, the possible tranzas learned from these stories. Still doing our thing over here… On this installment we hear someone’s personal diary on his true vacation trip to the the mother land. Then… a bit more travel logs. One year ago, we started this dog and pony show and like most things in life, it went pretty fast. We’ve learned quite a few thing since and have quite a few things yet to learn, but we are grateful for all the raza out there listening. Still amazed that there is raza out there listening to our pendejadas. The fact that you give us your time is incredibly chingon! Thank you. So yeah, this is our one year anniversary! A huevo! Another Tuesday, another Shuffle! We escaped the garage this week to get away from the heat and shuffle in comfort…nice. The shuffle continues on down the rabbit hole with an attempt to catch up with all the headlines. Which seems unlikely. We touch on quite a few topics: racism, a Georgia governor race, Haitians in Tijuana, a very douchy Starbucks cup and of course, Santa Fe, Texas. It’s moves on to translators doing a horrible job in the ring. A very personal “Is It Douchy”. Something about the issues of lending money. Plus, we confront an issue that is tearing the show apart one interview at a time… or maybe just being a slight annoyance. It’s all wrapped up with a bow in the episode recap. We packed up the gear, threw on our shuffle shirts, and headed to the East LA C.A.P.E (formerly East LA ComicCon)… some of us much earlier than others. What is there to say… we had a great time! It was a chingon event that we were honored to be a part of. Thanks for the invite. The episode was recorded live on site at the Chicano Shuffle booth and is basically one guest after another. There were so many people we wanted to talk to but sadly, not enough time. There is always next time. So we’re back it… we’ve got another fresh taco-inspired cover for the raza to kick off the episode. Recorded live in the studio garage, not to be skipped! Someone went on a roundtrip and brought back no stories. We then go on to try catching up on all the recent news… lots has went down in the world. The catch up starts with the “golden state killer”, Cosby and Kanye plus it continues through out the episode. That transitions us to a discourse about music, specifically rap/hip hop and how someone is getting into some modern music. The shuffle segues to a story of a recent trip to the mall. That desmadre rolls us right into a classic shuffle story involving a roadtrip, beef jerkey, and a camera. Not going to lie… esta chingon. First, let’s get this out of the way… 111,111,111 x 111,111,111 = 12345678987654321 … yeah process that. Point number two, this week’s episode happens to be a lost episode. We kept it sealed in one of those vacuum bags, so it’s a little dated but still fresh. Coincidentally, we start with some traffic stop stories and car talk. In that conversation there is a key missing piece, the original Urb-e discussion. How many times have we brought them up without this origin discussion. Time to complete that puzzle. This week we kick it off with another special creation… surprise and happy birthday. Once that is taken care of we continue on with our regularly schedule shuffle… olé. Someone tells us about his journey getting back into music, which somehow takes us back to mentioning Urb-e’s again (photo below). In shuffle fashion, that leads to a totally unrelated story of being pulled over recently and that experience. Not to worry, we keep it flowing. We also deliberate on roadside memorials and people’s vanity. All that brings us to the controversy of people thinking they own the street and those that snake your parking spot. We discuss his start, the struggle, and being at the right place at the right time. Between and around that, we do a bit of shuffling as usual including being in a relationship with a gordito, his show in production “Tons of Anarchy”, joke stealing, and racism in the industry. Plus plenty of hilarious stories involving some big names. We wrap it with a game of 10 questions, Chicano Shuffle style. Maybe we are running out of gas… maybe we were just hung over… either way this week we present one of the “Lost Episodes”!
