After joining the gym a while back, David’s finally started using it and Joe wants to know how he’s getting on. Joe’s still in Manchester, filming for Cats Does Countdown. So in this episode, David tries to get Joe to tell him about the famous Countdown set and what exactly happens during a recording of the show. Joe’s a little over-tired though, so isn’t particularly receptive to David’s questioning. But when the subject of all the famous people he’s seen at the studios comes up, the two of them get much more animated. So they them embark on a game of ‘Celebrities I’ve Seen’, which last for the rest of the episode. Joe’s been filming in Manchester for the past few days and with so much going on there, he wants to use today’s episode to tell David everything that’s happened. Well, that was the plan. David bough £55 of fish from a door-to-door salesman last night. And even though he found the fella very trustworthy and also took his telephone number - now in David’s phone as ‘Charlie Fish’ - he’s now wondering if it might have been some sort of scam? So him and Joe run though all the possibilities, before discussing a number of con-artists that Joe’s come across in the past. It’s a right old scam-fest. It was David’s 51st Birthday recently, so Joe kicks things off by finding out what he got up to and what presents he was given. David’s realised he takes on a strange persona whenever he’s in a DIY shop or garden centre, which is something his wife Naomi picked up on recently when they were at their local B&Q. He thinks it might be connected to his old job as a gardener and what little knowledge from that time he’s managed to retain. Suffice to say, he really doesn’t like who he becomes in these situations - but it’s something that Joe very much enjoys hearing about on today’s pod.
