Send us a text After a two week intermission, the guys hopped back on to finish the second part of their Farmaggedon rewatch, this time they watched the 2018 comeback against Kansas State. Jake and Sean both had unique game-day experiences with this game, one in the press box and the other on the interstate. While reliving Bill Snyder’s last game, the guys talked about how important it was to knock off Snyder in his final game while also breaking down the logistics of how it happened. During the normal segments, there was agreement on the beauty of Iowa State’s black uniforms and a healthy debate about the player of the game. The crew also discussed the current sports that have resumed play, and more importantly, which of these sports are you most likely to bet on? A discussion on the return of sports everywhere was entertained as well, though prospects still do not look all that rosy for a timely return of professional sports.

This is not a normal episode in our ReCYcle series, but it’s better. We got to pick Fran’s brain from coaching to plays to his favorite moments. We cut back on the normal segments this week, but that’s made up for in some off-topic questions. Fran talks about his love for Ames, his questionable relationship with KU fans, Brent Musburger’s gambling stories and his relationship with all the players on this Iowa State team. As far as the game goes, Iowa State started 0-13 from the floor and didn’t score a field goal in the first eight minutes. Five Cyclones scored in double figures en route to their first Big 12 Championship in 14 years. Once again, we want to thank Fran for hopping on, it was a ton of fun. The life and legacy of Kobe Bryan was discussed, including what he meant to kids growing up in the Midwest hundreds of miles from the nearest NBA city, what his legacy is and how the NBA remembers all he gave to the game, and how surreal it was to follow the news on social media in real time. The Cyclone’s 76-80 loss at Auburn was also discussed, which required some box-score and tea-leaf sifting to find the positives in the road defeat. On a happier note, the Super Bowl was also discussed, including our picks for the game as well as a host of proposition bets that we found interesting, including the odds on the halftime show, the length of the National Anthem (take the under), and some actual sport-related player props.
