Point and Shoot's is a comedic commentary on No Jumper podcast incidents that got on my radar a few months back. He covered Adam22's meltdown on the @Whatever Podcast, offers entertaining insights and visual jokes. Point and Shoot's relentless roasting of of the No Jumper crew is juvenile but hilarious. He attacks other people on the crew like Sharp, 1090 Jake and Poetic Flakko. Addressing podcast commentators, like Point and Shoot, may amplify negativity, kind of like the "Streisand Effect," so creators should respond tactfully, if at all. Embracing critics, as seen with comedians like Big Jay Oakerson, Luis J Gomez, Dave Smith, Bert Kreischer and Steve O, can defuse tensions and redirect focus to collaboration rather than conflict.

Become a producer on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/VeryNadavShow Someone made a subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/VeryNadavShow/ While working at Your Mom's House Studios with Tom Segura and Christina P, I would often catch myself having ridiculous conversations. Sometimes those were with my employers, the staff, but the funniest ones were talking to outside organizations. These are some of my favorite conversations I've had to have. I discuss my experience booking a little person and explaining a baby Jesus bit to a casting director and give a behind the scenes look of how long we were trying to produce the "Pimp My Ride" sketch... also an extra behind the scenes story while filming it! Then we get into one of my favorite phone calls I've ever had. We were going to stream live from the Paramount Theater in Austin and we had to make sure we can do the exact show that we wanted, which was completely off the rails.

Ep 21Some Podcasts Might Not Survive 2024 - Catching You Up with Nadav

E

Become a producer on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/VeryNadavShow Someone made a subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/VeryNadavShow/ Today we're chatting about why I think the next two years (at least) are going to be rough for podcasts due to an industry correction. Sure, we're having a mini-burst of the bubble in the podcasting industry, but how did we get there? The pandemic created the perfect storm for some podcasts, but is the podcast explosion dying down? It feels like the industry is correcting itself at the moment. Movies and television shows are coming back, and podcasts have more to compete with again. Another contributing factor is that a lot of the companies that were created to assist podcasters are starting to experience big lay offs, cutting support away from the creators that need it most. We then talk about the new Apple iOS update which will create more problems than it solves for an entire industry. Audio numbers will drop, ad rates will drop, and some podcasts just won't be able to deal with that, unless they've created multiple revenue streams. Fun stuff.

Become a producer on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/VeryNadavShow Someone made a subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/VeryNadavShow/ Today's episode is about how I got my job at YMH Studios that eventually lead to my position as Executive Producer there. I discuss my journey starting in high school making dumb movies with my friends, to college, where I also made dumb movies with my friends. I talk about my summer internships, the importance of finding a mentor and my first job out of college, running the video department for Weedmaps. But even though it was super fun and I have crazy stories about Snoop Dogg and getting B-Real from Cypress Hill too high for a 420 concert, I moved back to Los Angeles to pursue post production from ground zero and taking gigs along the traditional path of that career. I was able to start taking on better and cooler jobs that ended me up with a full time job at an ad agency where we made cool things consistently, but when I got laid off after a merger, I was left in a pickle and forced to think outside the box. I emailed some of my favorite podcasts and pitched them on adding a video component which resulted with my initial connection with Tom Segura and beginning working part time on Your Mom's House Podcast. I even read all my emails attempting to pitch myself for a job with them. I talk about the 2 year period working part time for YMH Podcast and freelancing at Machinima (where I met Enny) that ends with a full time job offer at the newly formed YMH Studios.

I then go over some of my biggest mistakes at YMH and some other horror stories along my career. Some you know about, and some you don't. Then I talk about one of the most panic inducing productions of my life: YMH Live 5 with West Palm Beach with Duncan Trussell Guesting with Tom Segura and Christina P. I talk about discovering the Comedy Central roasts with the one they did on Flavor Flav from Public Enemy and Flavor of Love. This is how I was introduced to Anthony Jeselnik and Amy Schumer like the rest of the world. I share my research with how Roasts started in New York at the Friar's Club in the early 1900's, turned into televised roasts with Jonny Carson and Don Rickles, then Comedy Central teaming up with the Friar's Club and airing roasts of Drew Carey, Jerry Stiller, Rob Reiner, Hugh Hefner and Chevy Chase. Comedy Central then went on its own run of roasts with Dennis Leary, Jeff Foxworthy, Pam Anderson, William Shatner, Flavor Flav, Joan Rivers, David Hasselhoff, and Donald Trump. We talk about the legendary Greg Giraldo sets and other notable stars from the roasts, the transition off of television and onto the internet. Ep 12Are Comedy Specials Money Grabs? | Catching You Up With nadav

Get episodes a day early on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/VeryNadavShow Is the trend of comedians making comedy specials a money grab? Let's take a look at a few examples and see if we can determine that. I discuss the beginnings of YMH Live Shows and their evolution. We examine if the 69 Minutes with Tom Segura our of YMH Studios is a money grab. We take a look at the Skankfest live stream and if 12 shows over a weekend is worth 80 bucks. We analyze the the value of the Kill Tony special event streams, how awesome the Gilly and Keeves sketches from Shane Gillis and John McKeever were, and why everyone should take a chance on purchasing content directly from comedians. We discuss if Andrew Schulz's moves with the special he bought back from a streamer (Netflix, probably) was a textbook money grab. We also ask if Chris D'Elia and Louis CK have the same kind of pull. Do they?

Ep 7The Carlos Mencia Joke Thief Timeline | Comedy History | Catching You Up w/ Nadav Ep 07

Producers: https://www.patreon.com/VeryNadavShow This week on Catching You Up w/ Nadav, we touch on the Carlos Mencia, one of the most notorious joke thieves in the comedy world. I show you the clip from the "I Am Comic" documentary from 2010, Marc Maron recounting the hit piece Joe Rogan made on Carlos confronting him at The Comedy Store, and Carlos's first appearance on WTF with Marc Maron. Carlos talks about when he was accused of stealing jokes from Paul Mooney and Eddie Griffin. Maron asks Carlos about beefing with Joe Rogan, and being accused of stealing jokes from Ari Shaffir, George Lopez and Bill Cosby. Marc realized Carlos was doing damage control and using Marc and his platform, so recorded another episode where he invited some comics close to Carlos (Willie Barcena and Steve Trevino) to get the real story, along with inviting Carlos back on to address these issues. Marc confronts Carlos on why he decides to bump headliners from performing, stealing jokes, and shares some final thoughts. I also briefly discuss Carlos's appearance on Tigerbelly with Bobby Lee and Khalyla Kuhn and Joe Rogan's reflection on the incident that he shared on Flagrant with Andrew Schulz. Can Carlos Mencia make a comeback to the comedy world? What do you think?

Ep 6Behind The Scenes Producing A Podcast (Featuring Dr. Drew Pinsky) - Catching You Up W/ Nadav Ep 06

Producers | https://www.patreon.com/VeryNadavShow Andrew Schulz Ep From Last Week | https://youtu.be/jgKe2cakr-Y This week, we peel the curtain back a little bit. I show you guys a little bit about how this podcast is put together and reveal one of the mega rules of having a podcast: CONSISTENT UPLOADS! I then start shedding some light on how last week's episode featuring Andrew Schulz went down. Your boy had some WILD stomach pains. Turns out it was an umbilical hernia and I had to go to the ER and had to make a serious decision about putting work before health. This tummy ache originated from a weight loss challenge on 2 Bears 1 Cave with Tom Segura and Bert Kreischer and came to a head last week when I started feeling abdominal pain all of a sudden. I went to the emergency room with a hard belly button that needed to get pushed back in. We then talk to our good friend of the show, Dr. Drew Pinsky, to talk more deeply about hernias. I tell Drew how I got mine, why the doctors decided to operate, and how they repaired mine by inserting a mesh into my abdominal wall. We discuss failure rates of the mesh used to repair my hernia, tips for keeping future hernias from coming on, and when you know you should go to the hospital. We discuss the different kind of hernias, the inguinal hernia (where your nuts go into your nuts), femoral hernias in your leg, and hiatal hernias in your esophagus. We learned so much this week!
