Become a producer on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/VeryNadavShow Someone made a subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/VeryNadavShow/ Today we're going to go over the history and evolution of Comedy Roasts. I talk about discovering the Comedy Central roasts with the one they did on Flavor Flav from Public Enemy and Flavor of Love. This is how I was introduced to Anthony Jeselnik and Amy Schumer like the rest of the world. I share my research with how Roasts started in New York at the Friar's Club in the early 1900's, turned into televised roasts with Jonny Carson and Don Rickles, then Comedy Central teaming up with the Friar's Club and airing roasts of Drew Carey, Jerry Stiller, Rob Reiner, Hugh Hefner and Chevy Chase. Comedy Central then went on its own run of roasts with Dennis Leary, Jeff Foxworthy, Pam Anderson, William Shatner, Flavor Flav, Joan Rivers, David Hasselhoff, and Donald Trump. We talk about the legendary Greg Giraldo sets and other notable stars from the roasts, the transition off of television and onto the internet. We talk about Shane Gillis's vicious roast and Whitney Cummings's role in keeping roasts alive.
