Should Lawrence 'Yagga' Rowe be forgiven?

Say the name Lawrence 'Yagga' Rowe and West Indians of a certain vintage will regale you with tales of his graceful stroke play and of course the 302 in 1974. However when Lawrence Rowe captained the two rebel tours to apartheid South Africa few would imagine that in 2024 he would still not have been forgiven by the Jamaican government. In a Caribbean Cricket Podcast history episode we look at the legacy of Lawrence Rowe. Machel chairs a round table discussion including Basil Butcher Jr, author of The Unforgiven Ashley Gray and former CEO of the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup, Chris Dehring. So much has happened in West Indies cricket that you could be forgiven for missing the big news that CWI and WIPA had signed a new Memorandum of Understanding. Frank Worrell: A history special ft Vaneisa Baksh

How apt that following West Indies miraculous performance to share the Frank Worrell Trophy, Trinidad and Tobago cricket journalist Vaneisa Baksh joined us to talk about her latest book 'Son of Grace' - a biography on the great Frank Worrell. A project that began in 2016 has ended with Baksh putting together the fruits of her archive hunting to write a comprehensive account of Frank Worrell and his life and legacy. We often say on the Caribbean Cricket Podcast that understanding the history of West Indies cricket is critical to understanding our identity as West Indian people and this book does that and then some. Son of Grace can be purchased in print and hardcopy wherever you buy your books and it is one we highly recommend. For three decades Vaneisa Baksh has written about cricket and the West Indies. Her work has appeared around the Caribbean and the globe for international cricket websites such as ESPNcricinfo and in the esteemed Wisden Almanack. Her MPhil in Cultural Studies from The University of the West Indies focused on West Indies cricket and cultural identity, such is her passion for the game. What does Devon Thomas' corruption charge mean for West Indies cricket?

We had to wait a while to speak on this one. The West Indies wicket-keeper/batsman Devon Thomas has been charged by the International Cricket Council (ICC) with seven counts under the anti-corruption code and was suspended with immediate effect. Machel wanted to fully assess the situation before adding his two pence on the situation. How much do you agree with his assertions on this one? Can Daren Sammy succeed as West Indies head coach?

Almost as soon as Daren Sammy was announced as the new West Indies white ball head coach the knives were out for him in many quarters. Machel took a look at Sammy's credentials or lack thereof and why West Indies fans should give Sammy the benefit of the doubt regardless. When will the Shimron Hetmyer discourse end?

Here we go again! Has any one West Indies cricketer ever provoked so much furious discourse? Prior to the World Cup Qualifiers West Indies selectors choose to exclude Shimron Hetmyer. That in itself provoked debate but the fact that Shimron and his wife took to Instagram to do chatty patty over the situation only served to further muddy the waters. None of this was adequately cleared up at the following press conference with Desmond Haynes so here we are now discussing the wayward Hetmyer once more. Should he have been in the squad? Should he be punished? Should he apologise? As always with the Caribbean Cricket Podcast we go into a level of depth and analysis on West Indies cricket that you wont hear anywhere else.
