#79 - Natasha and Kahlil Nurse

A licensed attorney by trade, Natasha held various stints in the corporate world prior to making a foray into fashion and writing. Having been a victim of bullying as a child growing up, Natasha learned to seek out fashion as a source of strength early on and actively uses it as a personal means of empowerment; because of her own experiences with bullying and her strong desire to help others within the plus size community, Natasha started Dressing Room 8 to provide a web-based resource where women can gain personal and professional empowerment through her fashion and lifestyle focused blog, consultation and coaching services. Dressing Room 8 helps women how to think with clarity, dress with confidence, and live with purpose. Kahlil Nurse is an Electrical Engineer who wears many different hats (just like his wife). He is the Tech Guru for too many people to mention (which his friends and family can totally attest to). He has been the technical support for Dressing Room 8 and Sistas On Fire. As a fan of cars, technology and finance, he embraces opportunities to learn, grow, and enjoy his hobbies to the fullest. In September2017, they decided to share their marriage and thoughts to media with their exciting new podcast WokeNFree where they talk about relationships, education, religion, politics, music, history, fashion, diversity in the media, entertainment, empowerment matters, life hacks, technology, cultural disparities in the world, and everything in between. Jillian trains her staff to use traditional values and new-age technology to promote her clients in creative ways across the internet. Jillian’s passion for creating a better community by hiring local people to do the marketing for local business owners is reflected in her company’s many successes. Her enthusiasm for her staff and clientele is infectious and several of her staff have been with her from her first tiny corner desk in a rented space to her beautifully appointed store front with room to grow. Jillian’s Circus has won awards in the categories of Best Boss and Best Social Media Agency on Long Island two years in a row. Her involvement in the community as a board member of the Rockville Centre Chamber of Commerce, member of the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce, and her active participation in prominent networking groups inspired her to start her own networking group, The Unicorns. The Unicorn Network, a rapidly growing organization designed for entrepreneurial millennials, was established in 2016 by Jillian who serves as the President and CEO of the board. The Unicorn Network began with a small group meeting together to plan social events and professional workshops. The Long Island chapters in Nassau and Suffolk Counties include more than 200 members and just this month, Jillian launched a Unicorn Network in Manhattan. The connections her members make with other Unicorns give them the unique opportunity to expand the reach of their own clientele with other enthusiastic business owners. Jillian’s Circus reaches out to the community by contributing to charities including the Inn in Hempstead and Bethany’s House and participating in events that raise funds for worthy causes. In addition to rigorous training programs for new employees, Jillian teaches instructional classes in schools, community centers, libraries, and corporate settings. She is a judge for projects designed by DECA students on Long Island and she mentors high school and college students, which often leads to part and full time employment in her company. Jillian Weston’s educational journey included serving as both her high school and college theater stage manager. She spent a semester abroad in England, traveling extensively in Europe. Her role as president of her college sorority gave Jillian the chance to hone her leadership skills and to jumpstart a new university activities club called NSA, helping college students connect in an environment of inclusiveness and safety. Jillian graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Hospitality from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2011. When Jillian is not in her office, she spends her time with family, friends and the occasional travel opportunity. She enjoys bowling, kick-boxing, mini-golf, and planning special events for her networks and her staff. ERobert H. Montefusco has been practicing law since 1998 and concentrates in the areas of matrimonial law and family law. He is a very experienced and determined trial attorney, having conducted hundreds of trials and/or hearings. Mr. Montefusco graduated cum laude from Touro Law School. He was a recipient of the American Excellence Award for Family Law and Evidence, a member of the Dean's List and an editor of Touro Law Review. He is a former prosecutor for the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office, where he gained invaluable experience in the courtroom not otherwise available to private practitioners. On a daily basis, he was responsible for handling all levels of crimes, including serious felonies, from arraignment to trial and sentencing. He learned effective and persuasive litigation skills from conducting numerous trials over the course of his career in the District Attorney’s Office. On a personal note, Mr. Montefusco was involved in a very acrimonious divorce and, rather than focusing on the hardship and emotional pain of his contested divorce action which resulted in a trial, he believes that this experience was an opportunity for him to learn how to be a more compassionate and effective attorney. He intimately understands what it takes to be successful in divorce litigation, and can sympathize with what you may be experiencing. Outside the courtroom, Mr. Montefusco augments his education by routinely attending Continuing Legal Education seminars on the latest updates and trends in the law. He is an active participant in the Suffolk County matrimonial bar mentoring program, providing legal advice to less experienced attorneys. He has been a guest lecturer at Touro Law Center relating to issues of criminal procedure and practice and has been featured in Touro Law Center’s recruiting literature. He has also appeared on News12 and has been quoted in various newspapers. Mr. Montefusco is admitted to practice in New York State and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York.

#59 - Ron Reed
ERon founded Reed Résumés in 2014 after spending 7 years as a New York City-based recruiter. I realized that there was a massive need for résumé writing services. I have viewed hundreds of thousands of résumés and conservatively, less than 5% could be considered absolutely flawless. More concerning to him though was, the vast majority of résumés are stunningly underwhelming. Given how competitive the job market is, he realized that he is uniquely positioned to do something about it.
