March 1, 2026Series: ImagineSermon Title: Dreaming of RestorationText: Nehemiah 2:1-5 NIV“In the month of Nisan in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, when wine was brought for him, I took the wine and gave it to the king. I had not been sad in his presence before, so the king asked me, “Why does your face look so sad when you are not ill? This can be nothing but sadness of heart.” I was very much afraid, but I said to the king, “May the king live forever! Why should my face not look sad when the city where my ancestors are buried lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?” The king said to me, “What is it you want?” Then I prayed to the God of heaven, and I answered the king, “If it pleases the king and if your servant has found favor in his sight, let him send me to the city in Judah where my ancestors are buried so that I can rebuild it.””Main Idea: Nehemiah’s vision to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem teaches us that God’s dreams often require hard work and community involvement.INTRODUCTION: Like Nehemiah, Bridge is called to a great work! Lessons from Nehemiah: 1. You will never move until your heart is moved. (Nehemiah 1:5; 2:2 NIV)“When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven.”“so the king asked me, “Why does your face look so sad when you are not ill? This can be nothing but sadness of heart.” 2. Movements start with movement. (Nehemiah 2:4-5 NIV)“The king said to me, “What is it you want?” Then I prayed to the God of heaven, and I answered the king, “If it pleases the king and if your servant has found favor in his sight, let him send me to the city in Judah where my ancestors are buried so that I can rebuild it.””3. Others move when I obediently move with God. (Nehemiah 2:17-18 NIV)“Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace.” I also told them about the gracious hand of my God on me and what the king had said to me. The heir is subject to guardians and trustees until the time set by his father. So also, when we were underage, we were in slavery under the elemental spiritual forces of the world. But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.”INTRODUCTION: You have to grow up to move up! “When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, 'Abba! Father!' So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God."Galatians 4:4-7“For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.”Romans 8:14-17 NIVReceiving Inheritance as Heirs (Galatians 4:7)“So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.”Galatians 4:7 NIV“Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him and was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek.”Hebrews 5:8-10 NIVCONCLUSION: Maturity has great priviledges but not without equal responsibilities. ★ Support this podcast ★

So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian. So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”Galatians 3:23-29 NIVINTRODUCTION: Which one are you putting your faith in; the law or Jesus?1. Reveal Sin (Galatians 3:19)“Why, then, was the law given at all? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise referred had come. The law was given through angels and entrusted to a mediator.”Galatians 3:19 NIV“Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.”Romans 3:20 NIV2. A Guardian (Galatians 3:24)“So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith.”Galatians 3:24 NIV3. Set the Stage for Jesus (Galatians 3:23-25)“Before the coming of this faith, we were held in custody under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed.
