We will discuss the list and try to determine which ones are overrated and which are underrated. Tim has played roughly half of these courses and will provide some insight into many of them. Rory McIlroy won yet another DP World Tour title this week and we will talk about the possibility of him being the greatest modern European golfer ever. There were also 10 players that moved onto the PGA Tour out of the DP World Tour. The PGA Tour heads to Sea Island, Georgia for the fall finale and the last chance for players to get into the top 125 and secure their tour card for next season. Tim sat down with the Head Golf Professional, Superintendent and the architect that renovated the Club at Golden Valley on this profiles episode of The Club at Golden Valley. Formerly known as the Golden Valley Country Club, The Club at Golden Valley changed their name as part of the re-opening this year. Kevin Norby of Norby Golf Course Design was in charge of restoring this A.W. Tillinghast classic in suburban Minneapolis. Kevin did a masterful job on the renovation and in this episode he will talk about the challenges faced on the project and how great it turned out. Tim will start by digging into some history and we will hear from the superintendent and head professional about that history, and some complications finding some of the history due to clubhouse fires over the years. One of the talks of this years U.S. Amateur Championship at Hazeltine was that of Garrett Engle. Garrett is a senior at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and as he made it to the round of 16, the talk was not of his victories, but rather of his grip. Garrett Engle employs a split handed grip, which is one of a kind in the world of high level golf. Garrett owns his grip and swing and it has suited him well as a high level amateur. After a shocking first two days, where both teams swept the points and were tied 5-5, the U.S. team rolled to another Presidents Cup victory over the international team. As the golf season winds down, there are some events to wrap up seasons on various tours. LIV had their team championship in Dallas where Cam Smith and Ripper GC came through with the win and took home the cash. We are talking the future of LIV Golf and where they may go moving forward. Billy Horschel beat Rory in a playoff at Wentworth to win the BMW PGA Championship on the DP World Tour. Rory eagled 17 to tie the lead and birdied both playoff holes but it wasn't enough as Billy Horschel eagled the second playoff hole to secure the victory. Tim traveled to the Wisconsin Dells and is going to fill us in on what the golf scene is like in the midwest resort town. Finally, it is President's Cup week and we will talk about what it takes to make this event better... hint, the International team needs to win a few. It was an eventful week in golf even if much of the season is over. There was epic coffee golf this week as the Irish Open was at the number one ranked golf course in the world according to Golf Digest, Royal County Down. We will discuss the golf course and the tournament which saw Rasmus Hojgaard birdie 4 of the last 5 holes and got a little bit of help from Rory McIlroy on his way to the win. The Solheim Cup came back home as the United States team won for the first time since 2017 at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club outside of Washington D.C. LIV Golf finished their individual season at Chicago as Jon Rahm won the season long individual championship. We will discuss what could be coming with LIV and whether or not it has been successful. Scottie Scheffler won the Tour Championship at East Lake, well sort of, as he actually got 3rd in the event with Collin Morikawa winning the actual tournament and getting OWGR points for the win. We will talk about the FedEx Cup and the Tour Championship as changes need to be made by the PGA Tour to make this event more fan friendly. The creator classic also took place at East Lake and was heavily viewed, we give our thoughts on that event as well from East Lake. The podcast was in Brainerd this past weekend watching the CRMC Classic on PGA Tour Americas. We talked to some players, saw Neil Shipley's math equations and played some golf at Craguns the day after the tournament ended. Captain's picks are in for the Presidents Cup and we have some thoughts. American captain Jim Furyk went with the 7-12 ranked players in the standings and did nothing controversial with his picks, but don't worry, we will savage a few anyway. Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley slipped into the field in the 50th place after Tom Kim melted down at the FedEx St. Jude Classic in Memphis a week ago and took full advantage at Castle Pines by winning the BMW Championship and vaulting himself into 4th place in the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup standings with one week to play. The Break80 Podcast was in Colorado at Castle Pines and we will give you some insights to what we saw and heard on the ground this week, including our time inside the ropes with Peyton Manning and Wyndham Clark. The President's Cup automatic qualifiers are set for the United States and International teams for next month's event in Montreal. It is FedEx Cup playoff time on the PGA Tour and the Break80 Podcast is on the road this week as we head to Castle Pines in Colorado for the BMW Championship. This caps of a crazy few weeks for Matsuyama who won the bronze medal in Paris and was robbed on his way to Memphis. Jose Luis Ballester won the U.S. Amateur Championship at Hazeltine National. The Spaniard from Arizona State used great ball striking to beat Noah Kent from the University of Iowa on a difficult Hazeltine National Golf Course. After being closed for roughly a year to do a renovation of the course, Interlachen Country Club is open again and better than ever. Interlachen CC had us out for media day and we were lucky enough to both play the course and do some interviews. Interlachen is the most historic course in Minnesota and has countless memorable moments since opening in 1909, most notably Bobby Jones victory in 1930 as part of the "grand slam." We have a variety of interviews from Interlachen on this episode starting with architect Andrew Green. Andrew has become sort of a "Donald Ross whisperer," as he has renovated classic Ross clubs like East Lake, Oak Hill and now Interlachen. He sat down with us and gave us some insight into how renovating classic golf courses works. Next up we had Brian Boll, Director of Golf Course and Grounds on to talk agronomy at Interlachen. You won't believe the amount of drain tile and things like drip irrigation by bunker faces and all kinds of other things that Brian goes into that it takes to keep a top notch golf course looking and playing great. Lastly, Head Golf Professional T.J. Boulanger sat down with us to talk about what he does on a day-to-day basis at Interlachen and what he did to keep busy over the last year when the course was closed. It is everything Olympic golf this week as we review the mens portion of the 2024 Olympics at Le Golf National outside of Paris, France. Scottie Scheffler lit up the golf course firing a final round 62 and after a Jon Rahm collapse on the back 9, stormed his way to the gold medal. Xander Schauffele kept his great season going and ran away from the pack on the back nine at Royal Troon on Sunday to win the 152nd Open Championship title and his second major of the year. Royal Troon and mother nature gave a stern test to the best players in the world this week as players battled the course and the elements. After an invitation to do the PXG Xperience from Dr. Bob Parsons, the podcast is live from Scottsdale National this week to talk about U.S. Open drama. Bryson DeChambeau fought a leaky driver and used a incredible short game to pull off a gritty victory at Pinehurst No. 2 as Rory McIlroy had a gut wrenching collapse missing two short putts on the last 4 holes to lose the U.S. Open trophy in his attempt to break his 10 year drought of major championships. The Bryson Dechambeau story is a fascinating one as he has seemingly made a complete 180 in his career when it comes to popularity as he has reinvented himself and his game and the cherry on top was this victory in what has been a remarkable major season for Bryson. Rory McIlroy, who faces maybe more pressure than any player in the world to win a major, suffered a major setback by missing a couple very short putts in route to losing by a stroke. U.S. Open season is here and this week we both crowned a U.S. Women's Open champion, as well as having the longest day of golf at U.S. Open sectionals around the country. Yuka Saso played spectacular golf to win going away at Lancaster Country Club in Pennsylvania. She made an amazing 4 birdies in 5 holes to pull away on a difficult course. We discuss the U.S. Women's Open and all the great venues they have coming up in the next 20 years. Bob McIntyre got his first PGA Tour win this week at the Canadian Open. It was extra special as he had his father on the bag for his one shot victory over Ben Griffin. The PGA Tour will head to Muirfield Village this week for one of its signature events of the season - The Memorial. Xander Schauffele quieted the critics this week by taking home his first career major at the PGA Championship at Valhalla in Louisville, Kentucky. He held off a charging Bryson DeChambeau with a clutch birdie putt on the 72nd hole to hoist the Wanamaker trophy. The crazy thing about the week was that Xander's victory wasn't the top story. Scottie Scheffler got arrested on Friday morning outside of the golf club in one of the most bizarre stories in recent memory from professional golf. Scottie still managed to finish in the top 10 with all the distractions going on, which is an impressive feat in its own right. Bob Parsons, the founder and CEO of Parsons Xtreme Golf, better known as PXG, was in the twin cities and we were lucky enough to get to sit down with him for an interview. Bob talked about his childhood growing up in Baltimore and how his combat time in Vietnam as part of the Marine Corps molded him into the person he is today. Bob is one of the most successful businessmen in America, founding multiple companies, including GoDaddy and now PXG Golf. He gets into his time in Vietnam and battling PTSD in the years and decades following and how he helps other veterans with both his story and donations to various charities. It was LIV Golf's superbowl this week as they were in Adelaide, Australia and the Aussies showed out and provided the rowdy kind of fanbase that LIV has been looking for. The hometown team, Ripper GC took home the team title and Brendan Steele won the individual title. The PGA Tour did team golf this week in the Big Easy at TPC Louisiana. Rory McIroy and Shane Lowry took home the victory and added some star power to the event. Is this format entertaining and is this how team golf should be? Scottie Scheffler and Nelly Korda win again to keep their dominant spring's going this week on their prospective tours. Scottie Scheffler wins the RBC Heritage in a Monday finish as the PGA Tour gets panned for not moving up the tee times on Sunday with impending weather issues. What can stop Scottie at this point? Could this be the year we see the Grand Slam happen? We will discuss Scottie's dominance and if there is anything that can slow him down. Speaking of dominant, Nelly Korda won her 5th straight tournament in women's professional golf. She ties Annika Sorenstam and Nancy Lopez for the most consecutive wins in a row in LPGA Tour history. One thing they both have in common is that the competition seems to melt in the final round when paired with the two world number one players. 15 year old Miles Russell made history this week on the Korn Ferry Tour as he not only made the cut, but had a top 20 finish. The high school sophomore earned himself another Korn Ferry start and received a PGA Tour exemption after this impressive showing. In a win for the little guys, journeyman Peter Malnati blistered the back nine at Innisbrook and tamed the "snake pit" coming in to win his first PGA Tour title since 2015. Cameron Young had a chance to notch his first tour victory, but a 3 putt bogey on 18 sealed his fate and helped Malnati earn the victory. Mike and Tim both fire 70's on the weekend in an epic podcast battle, could they be the hottest players on the planet not named Scottie Scheffler? We are kidding of course, but will go into the round a bit as Tim shot his first ever under par round on a championship golf course. Scottie Scheffler made a few putting changes, including both a new Taylormade mallet putter and not marking his golf ball with a line and as he displayed at Bay Hill, when he is making putts, he is really hard to beat. He fired a Sunday 66 to run away with the Arnold Palmer Invitational. We will also talk about a few other tournament tidbits and try to figure out what is wrong with Rory McIroy. After watching Full Swing 2 on Netflix this week, we will give our honest reviews of season 2 and why Mike is even more upset at Zach Johnson for one of his Ryder Cup picks after watching. Anthony Kim brought some fireworks to LIV Golf this week and will be playing again in Macau this coming week on the Asian Tour. Is signing Anthony Kim the best thing LIV has done for interest yet? The PGA Tour's flagship event, the Player's Championship is this week from TPC Sawgrass. Scottie Scheffler will be the favorite without question, but Pete Dye's course doesn't favor any one kind of player, so it is always an exciting test of golf. LIV Golf took center stage this week in Jeddah as Anthony Kim made his return to professional golf after a dozen years. If you tuned in to watch in the middle of the night here in the the U.S., you saw what was to be expected, a very rusty AK. We will see in upcoming events what the future holds for Anthony Kim. Joaquin Niemann may be the hottest player on the planet currently as he got the win again. It was a big week for Niemann has also got invites to the Masters and PGA Championship this week. Austin Eckroat was able to handle the Bear Trap down the stretch during the Monday finish to get his first career tour victory. What some would call the first major of the year was Monday also as the Seminole Pro-Member event took place.
