Behind Enemy Lines: Porto | Grujic reunion, the Liverpool-linked Otavio and Vieira, and the 'phenomenal' signing Everton missed out on
Liverpool have quickly got to put the frustration of dropping two points in the Premier League on Saturday behind them because on Tuesday they travel to Porto for their second match in Group B of the Champions League. The Reds got off to the perfect start when they beat AC Milan 3-2 at Anfield two weeks ago. And they’ll be confident of making it six points from six given they’ve had Porto’s number in recent years. However, the Portuguese side did earn an excellent 0-0 draw at Atletico Madrid on matchday one, and like Liverpool, they’ve made an unbeaten start to the season. So to learn more about Porto, Paul Wheelock picks up the phone to Portuguese football expert Alex Goncalves (follow him on Twitter @Aljeeves). They talk Diogo Jota, who will be facing his former club on Tuesday, as well as Marko Grujic, who will be doing the same, plus two midfielders Liverpool were linked with in the summer, and the star forward who came close to joining Everton.Get exclusive podcasts direct to your inbox every week for FREE by joining the Blood Red Club. Analysing Anfield: Kostas Tsimikas proving much more than an Andy Robertson back-up as Liverpool show 2019-20 vibes
With Liverpool marching on in the Premier League and the Carabao Cup, Josh Williams and David Hughes return with the latest Analysing Anfield podcast. Delving deep into the 3-0 win at home to Crystal Palace that kept the Reds level at the top of the league, and touching on the 3-0 win away to Norwich City that booked their place in the fourth round of the cup, our hosts pull out some very encouraging underlying numbers. They also focus on the form of Kostas Tsimikas, and the one area of his game where he could be an actual improvement on Andy Robertson, as well as set-pieces and why all the talk over signing another striker in the summer may have been misplaced. They then look ahead to this Saturday’s trip to Brentford, whose numbers, approach and recruitment could well make it a more difficult match for Liverpool than most would expect. And there’s also a quick preview of next Tuesday’s Champions League clash at Porto.Get exclusive podcasts direct to your inbox every week for FREE by joining the Blood Red Club.
