BTR News was asked to review information being put out to the public by Afrisynergy news that made a spurious claim that a Dallas Judge and the Dallas Police conspired to kill Joshua Brown. In addition, Lee Merritt, attorney to the Jean family confirmed that Joshua Brown and his mother were not afraid that Dallas police would kill him for testifying but that he feared gun violence from individuals in the Black community.

Anyone who tries to feed into the perceived confirmation biases of their readers, viewers or listeners, is ethical and certainly not a trustworthy news source.

BTR News - NBC News published a special report from inside a detention facility where Muslims are being held. Western media has described these facilities as "concentration camps" and the US Senator from Florida, Marco Rubio said China is trying to erase the identity of the Muslims being detained. Within 24hrs, the Miami Herald published video from a documentary made inside a Florida prison that was smuggled out. BTR News - Amber Guyger murder trial witness, Joshua Brown was murdered last night. No other details have been shared by the Dallas police at this time who are likely suspects as any. However, Mr. Brown, according to attorney Lee Merrit, feard being murdered by police and someone in the community. Joining in conversation over this tragic story is Kwabena Rasuli of Clear The Airwaves Project, an effort to expose and rid the public airwaves of "music" that promotes violence and other social ills to the Black community on a daily basis. BTR News - In September 2019, I published a podcast questioning whether a Ukranian or an actual Black person who identifies as ADOS was behind a political cartoon that was being circulated on Facebook that was targeting Sen. Bernie Sanders on the issue of reparations. After participating in a discussion with a Twitter friend who was being targeted with vitriol by accounts using the ADOS hashtag, questioning whether or not she was Black. I told her that is rich considering research has shown that white supremacists had adopted the hashtag to further their racist agenda. I started looking for articles based on that research and came across an article on Media Matters which mentioned Sanders as a target of white supremacists on the 4 Chan message boards. That led me to conclude that the political cartoon I had traced back to a Ukrainian student was likely a Neo-Nazi trying to suppress Black votes for the only Jewish candidate in the race for the Democratic nomination.

BTR News w/ Scotty T Reid - It has been evident since 2016 that Black corporate media and Black professional pundits have a bias against Bernie Sanders. Perhaps they are angry he challenged the Queen of Entitlement Hillary Clinton when everyone else stepped aside for her historic run. It was like everyone knew before the DNC email leaks, or stolen emails depending on who you ask, she made a crooked deal with the DNC to rig it's primary and just hand her the nomination instead of her having to work for it. In fact you could say she bought the nomination by helping to pay off the DNC's massive debt by calling on her Wall Street and Hollywood friends. Perhaps the news pundits were buck dancing for Clinton hoping to position themselves for some high paying job inside a second Clinton administration or some other tangible benefit. Many of them blame Sanders, and of course the omnipotent Vladimir Putin, for costing her the election instead of blaming it on her laziness in not campaigning in key states. Whatever it is was, it is apparent the Black gatekeeper class has carried over their unwarranted disdain for Sanders to 2016 even though he is the only candidate in 2019 with a majority non-white base and the author of transformative policies that would help non-white and poor people the most. The latest episode of shenanigans directed at Sanders concerns his procedure to remove a single blockage of an artery which has caused some of the outlets that target Black people to suggest that his campaign it perhaps at its end. If not implying Sen. Sanders is on his deathbed, they certainly questioned if his campaign is over. Never mind that Joe Biden, the supposed front runner, had blood fill up his left eye during a debate, and has a history of aneurysms, there were no headlines asking if Biden's campaign was nearing its end. If you recall Hillary Clinton's "Weekend At Bernie's" impression when she was dragged to her car from a public event in 2016, no one was declaring her campaign was over at the time. Well, at least no Democrats implied her campaign was dead, conservatives certainly had fun with it. Given the propensity of fake news from news outlets on the right and left, the Black community seriously needs a fact-checker to hold Black journalists to a higher standard than their employers. The procedure Sanders had to open up one reported blocked artery reportedly will only require him to rest up for a few days. There is no cause at this time to call the coroner on his campaign.

BTR News - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was in Texas supporting a Pro-NRA and Anti-Abortion Democrat who is facing a primary challenge from a Justice Democrats nominee. She went further in stating that the Democrat leadership has an anti-democracy strategy and have pledged to support all incumbents despite their records on issues important to voters. The trial of former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger is underway and there seems to be some confusion on whether or not the Grand Jury that indicted her possibly overcharged her and could result in a not guilty verdict by the jury hearing the case.

Reid - The day after presidential candidate US Senator Bernie Sanders appeared in the DNC debates hosted by ABC/Univision, the unapologetic Democratic Socialist participated in a Latino voter townhall where he answered questions related to Trump's current immigration policies and where he stands in relation to other candidates vying for the DNC nomination. However the previous night, Sanders appeared on the debate stage with nine other candidates at the HBCU Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. Jorge Gilberto Ramos Ávalos who goes by the stage name Jorge Ramos, a Mexican-born American journalist and author who works for Univision was afforded space as a moderator in the debate. Ramos seemed to single out Sen. Sanders for a question in asking Sen. Sanders in an accusatory tone if he considered the President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro a "socialist dictator". Ramos in his "question" to Sanders on if Maduro was a socialist dictator, the Univision journalist front-loaded the question with assertions that the target of Donald Trump's plot to bring about regime change in Venezuela was disappearing, torturing and killing people. Sander's astutely recognized what Ramos attempted to do and began his answer by declaring what his democratic vision of socialism entails which includes a litany of human rights the senator ticked off. Sanders then declares that anyone engaged in human rights abuses is a tyrant without naming Maduro and then suggested that multiple nations in the region must work together to resolve the human rights crisis that is occurring in Venezuela. Sanders named the white supremacist Monroe Doctrine as a contributor to mass migration out of nations south of the US border. The Monroe Doctrine was and some would say still is the United States foreign policy of opposing European colonialism in the Americas in the early 1800s so that it could colonize those countries and allow US corporations to exploit the people, the land and their resources. Sanders mentioned the Nixon administration's overthrow of President Salvador Allende in 1970 who was democratically elected in Chile as an example. When it comes to human rights, Sen. Bernie Sanders's platform stands above that of the rest of the Democratic field and thus far the only candidate with the guts to acknowledge US foreign policy as a destabilizing force around the world that is forcing people to flee their homelands in search of safety. As far as Ramos's questions concerning torture, the current POTUS, Donald Trump ran a 2016 campaign blatantly endorsing the use of torture and one would assume as POTUS, has given the green light to US intelligence agencies to resume use of their torture techniques. It was Sen. Bernie Sanders who stood on the floor of Congress calling out George W. Bush's torture program. It was Sanders in 2007 that called out the gross US violations of the Geneva Convention standards on torture in the use of waterboarding and enhanced interrogation techniques. It was Sanders who voted not to confirm Gina Haspel, Trump's nominee to the lead the CIA who had been implicated in overseeing torture sessions at a CIA black site. Given Sanders's history on where he stands on torture, Ramos's question to him is all the more suspect and one should suspect that it was not the debate moderator's intent to get Sanders to condemn Mudaro but rather to link socialism to human rights crimes in the mind of viewers. There is a concerted effort in the mainstream media to put socialism on trial in order to degrade support of Senator Sanders hoping to play on the ignorance of voters when it comes to US foreign policy.

Abu-Jamal's lawsuit alleges his rights were violated when he was denied hepatitis C drugs that are a known cure for the disease that is disproportionately high among prisoners across the United States. The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a lower-court decision that Pennsylvania Corrections Department employees were not immune to being sued over their decisions regarding Abu-Jamal. The three-judge federal panel ruled there are sufficient grounds to support his claim that his constitutional rights were violated when he was denied appropriate medical treatment for a nonmedical reason, the high cost of the drugs. In November of 2018, the Pennsylvania's Corrections Department announced it was moving to settle a separate lawsuit by providing a prescription drug treatment regimen for prisoners who suffer from chronic hepatitis C infections which are disproportionately higher in prisons and once released back to the outside world, have the potential of spreading the infection among the general public. What potential impact could the case have on potentially millions of prisoners and possibly former prisoners who contracted hepatitis C infections while incarcerated?

I'll respect Marc Lamont Hill as a journalist and a human rights defender but I strongly disagree with his hot take on Bernie Sanders on the issue of federal legislation in support of reparations but more important, support for legislation that gets you to actual policy proposals that will come out of the HR 40 path. Let us take a deep dive and unpack the issues brought out. Also, a noticeable attack on Bernie Sanders emerged on social media following the debate which was based on a theme that "Sander's was an old man yelling at the television". At the same time, we have some non-Christian Black people being discourteous and engaging in name-calling and spreading disinformation about Christianity, we have some Black people who say they are Christians who are just as discourteous and disrespectful to non-Christians. In both cases, it seems a lack of maturity may be the reason. However, today the program will focus on myths, disinformation and faulty analysis of a small but vocal minority who make claims about why Black people anywhere in the world practice Christianity. Afro-Christophobia in my eyes is an impediment to Black people working together because we want to trash each other's religious/spiritual beliefs but for some reason, Black Christians seem to suffer verbal abuse from other Black people in the United States more than any other group within our group. [the_ad id="35245"] Apparently, repealing the Hyde Amendment, the federal law that prohibits organizations like Planned Parenthood from receiving federal funds for abortions, except in cases of rape, incest and to save the life of the mother, has been a goal of Democrats since 2016 although Hillary Clinton nor Bernie Sander's talked about it much during the primary and general election. Recently, just about every Democrat and Bernie Sanders has talked a lot about repealing the Hyde Amendment. At no time during the 2016 campaign did Bernie Sanders mention that Medicare 4 All would include funding abortions. Americans adults are evenly split on the issue of abortion according to a 2018 Gallup poll, 48 percent are pro-life while another 48 percent are pro-choice. Millennials are surprisingly more pro-life than they are pro-choice which makes abortion even more of a political wedge issue. BTR News - After a rapper made some inappropriate comments about the girlfriend of recently murdered rap artist and community activist Nipsey Hussle, Power 106, LA’s top hip-hop station, announced they’d no longer play the music of Kodak Black and one its DJs, Justin Credible tweeted, “We stand with the family of Nipsey Hussle and are appalled by the disrespectful and poor comments made by Kodak Black. With that, Power 106 will not support Kodak Black’s music." It was also announced that a "Trap" museum was taking down the Kodak Black display. According to Chicago news media outlet WGN, Cook County prosecutors dropped all charges against actor Jussie Smollett Tuesday. He had been charged with 16 counts of disorderly conduct after Chicago police say he staged a racial and homophobic attack in the city in January. Those charges will be now be wiped from Smollett's record. Smollett performed recent community service, Monday and Saturday, with the Rainbow Push Coalition. They wrote a letter presented in court, along with the Black AIDS Foundation and Lyric Opera of Chicago, standing up for Smollett's character.
