JERRY’S SHORT: Before You Quit Your Job Look for These Opportunities First

Before you quit your job, let’s explore the challenges of hating your job and try these steps that may improve communication, open up growth opportunities, and create career fulfillment where you are now. If you're looking for opportunities for growth and ways to expand your skills on a low budget, one option is to negotiate with your supervisor to take on additional responsibilities that are outside of your normal job description (and handing off other responsibilities.) Delegation of responsibilities not only frees up your leader’s time but also allows you a chance to develop skills for the next level of your career. People love formal training programs. However, there may not be funds to send everyone through a class or course. Consider asking if your company will cover the costs of joining a local or national association at a fraction of the cost of attending a formal training program. These associations can provide valuable networking opportunities and access to resources that can help you grow professionally. It's important to assess whether you feel fully engaged with your skill sets in your current role. If you find yourself highly skilled but only given mundane tasks like checking mail or orders, it may be worth discussing this with your supervisor. Rather than surprising them during an annual performance review or leaving for another organization. In this episode, you will be able to: Invite others into conversations, keep them respectful, and find mutual ground. Engage and contribute in meetings, and stand out in a positive light. Articulate the top two reasons why people leave their jobs. Take initiative and look for ways to grow your experience and explore new opportunities within the organization if you decide to stay. Evaluate your work situation and know whether it’s time to stay or fold. Go to BeyondTheRut.com/capsho for your free 14-day trial and see for yourself. JERRY’S SHORT: Unlocking Employee Engagement with This Strategy for Building Rapport, Recognizing Excellence, and Sparking Innovation

In this episode, we will look at a strategy that will unlock employee engagement by fostering rapport, recognizing excellence, and sparking innovation by finding out what employees want. Employee engagement saw a decline from 2021 through today in U.S. workplaces. Furthermore, 29% of employees surveyed by Zippia stated they have not received recognition from their employer in over a year! You need to either show love or lose your people because people don’t quit their jobs they quit their leaders. In this episode of Beyond the Rut, we will discuss the crucial aspects of fostering engagement and recognizing excellence in the workplace. Having meaningful conversations with employees connects with them on a deeper level than “How’s it going?” and simply asking about status updates on tasks. By taking the time to connect on a personal level and showing genuine interest in their lives, leaders can build rapport and create a platform for open communication. Leaders have an opportunity to empower the voice of employees by gathering employee feedback and asking them how to recognize the achievements of their coworkers. This not only boosts morale but also encourages innovation and growth within the organization. In this episode, you will be able to: Plan and conduct your own routine of rounding with your employees Gather insights on what is working well and what needs improvement Identify opportunities to delegate projects to your employees that will boost their careers and improve the workflow Provide genuine recognition to team members thanks to your employees Chapters 00:00:00 Establishing Rapport And Gathering Positive Feedback From Employees 00:04:31 Building Rapport And Gathering Employee Feedback 00:06:13 Fostering Engagement And Recognizing Excellence In The Workplace Go to BeyondTheRut.com/capsho for your free 14-day trial and see for yourself. Ep 373The Danger of Running Away from Yourself: Why Pausing is Key to Getting Out of a Rut

In the episode "The Danger of Running Away from Yourself: Why Pausing is Key to Getting Out of a Rut," the importance of pausing and engaging in self-reflection is emphasized. Our guest, Catherine Llewellyn, highlights the danger of running away from oneself when feeling stuck in a rut. Often, individuals may make impulsive decisions to escape their current situation, only to realize that the issues they were trying to escape from are still within them. Therefore, taking a moment to pause and reflect becomes crucial in order to truly address the root causes of dissatisfaction and make meaningful changes. The episode also emphasizes the value of self-inquiry and reflection over seeking external solutions or following societal expectations. Rather than searching for a predetermined menu of how to be, Catherine encourages us to engage in deep introspection and discover our true selves. By taking the time to reflect on what truly matters and what aligns with their values, individuals can make more authentic choices and avoid the trap of conforming to external pressures. Ultimately, Catherine suggests that pausing and engaging in self-reflection can lead to personal growth and a more fulfilling life. By acknowledging that the rut one finds themselves in may be of their own making, individuals can approach the situation with self-compassion and forgiveness. This allows for a shift in perspective, moving from blame and self-criticism to a place of self-love and acceptance. Through this process, individuals can gain clarity, make intentional decisions, and create a life that is aligned with their true selves. In this episode, you will be able to: Running away from a rut may not be the best solution as the problem may be within oneself. It's important to pause and reflect before making any drastic changes. Consider how leaving a rut may affect relationships with family, friends, and neighbors. Moving on from a rut should happen when one's whole being wants to move forward. Being in a rut can feel safe and comfortable. Go to BeyondTheRut.com/capsho for your free 14-day trial and see for yourself. JERRY’S SHORT: Stake Your Leadership T.E.N.T.

Are you a leader who wishes to stay competitive by improving employee engagement and stemming the turnover tide in your company? This is the episode for you! Insights You May Not Know About The Great Resignation You may have heard about the Great Resignation in 2021. Did you know that 2022 saw a bigger wave of workers leaving their jobs? An estimated 50.5 million people left their employers in 2022 compared to 47.3 million in 2021. CNBC called it the "Real Year of the Great Resignation". Why Are Employees Leaving? The big reasons given for lower engagement among employees and workers exiting companies included the following found in Gallup's research: Not feeling connected at work (mission, vision, other people) Not being able to work from home for positions that could work from home Not feeling cared for at work Not seeing opportunities for growth Not being offered opportunities for growth Companies are competing in stemming the turnover tide through compensation market adjustments, hybrid and remote work arrangements, creating career ladders, and improving wellness programs. These are must-dos for companies but may take time to implement. What Are Managers Feeling? In my work with people leaders, the following trends and frustrations arise when talking about employee retention and engagement: "I'm losing people faster than these initiatives can get implemented." "Compensation adjustments are important, but it never seems enough to make people happy." "What can I do to curb employee dissatisfaction that's low-cost and has a real impact?" "People see right through last-minute efforts to appeal to employees before an employee engagement survey. I want to do something that is genuine." "There are only so many seats available for formal development programs. How do I provide growth opportunities for everyone?" This is what led me to form a leadership framework built on proven principles and practices that help people leaders create a sense of feeling genuinely cared for and opportunities for growth for their employees at low cost with high impact. What Does Staking Out a T.E.N.T. Do to Stop This Trend? We are diving into four key characteristics of leaders who have been able to expel employee dissatisfaction, help employees feel cared for, and provide growth opportunities that stem the turnover tide. Ep 362Unlock Your Life with Neuro Mapping and Overcoming Insecurities

Unlock the secrets to living a life beyond the rut with special guest Adrian Moreno as he delves into the power of neural mapping, overcoming insecurities, and eliminating self-sabotage. Neuro Mapping as the Key to Your Success Adrian Moreno ran a successful high-ticket fitness coaching business with 88 clients when he was in his early 20s. Despite his success, his unchecked anxiety led Adrian to keep adding clients without scaling the support needed to serve his clients well. His business crashed and burned and he found himself refunding over a half a million dollars to make things right. Hypnotherapy helped Adrian realize that his behavior stemmed from a deeply-seated memory of his mom leaving the family. No amount of money would fill that void for him, yet that was what he was trying to do. Neuro mapping then helped Adrian reframe his perspective about money, relationships, and success in a way that he now lives a healthier, happier life. His hope is that this interview will inspire you to also consider reshaping your thoughts and mindsets through neuro mapping, recognizing why you do what you do, understanding the life you want to live and taking action to make that happen. Just as I’ve mentioned in my book, Beyond the Rut: Create a Life Worth Living in Your Faith, Family, and Career, you need to recognize your R.U.T. to live beyond the rut. In this episode, you will learn: Adrian’s reflection on the loss of family as a young boy revealed his deepest fears of loss. How neuro mapping helps you redefine success, your worth, and finding joy in life. Creating the priorities in life that will create a life worth living for you. Adrian Moreno Adrian Moreno began his career in the health & fitness space while also gaining unparalleled experience with hypnosis and Neuro-Linguistic Programming, establishing himself as a respected transformation specialist through the power of hypnotherapy. Going against what his mentors taught, Adrian spent his marketing efforts pitching and getting booked on top podcasts and grew that hypnotherapy company to a quarter of a million dollars in only 12 months -- now he spends his time teaching other coaches, course creators, and content creators how to do the same thing. Ep 359Applying the Wisdom of Yoda and Overcoming Self-Doubt

Are you feeling stuck and struggling with self-doubt? Master life transformation coach and professor, Dr. Ed Slover, shares how the wisdom of Yoda can help us overcome self-doubt and live our best life. Applying the Wisdom of Yoda to Overcome Self-Doubt Being motivated by external validation is a common issue in the modern world. It is normal for us to seek acceptance and love from those around us during our childhood, teens and young adulthood. However, as we enter into middle age, it is essential that we strive to attain our own internal validation. This can be done by engaging in activities for the sake of doing them, regardless of anyone else's opinion. The key here is to focus on doing things well and being able to be proud of our efforts, not just relying on recognition from others By making this shift in mindset and outlook, we can free ourselves from doubts and self-doubt for good. Yoda is a legendary figure in the Star Wars universe, renowned for his wisdom and powerful ability to tap into the force. With his iconic long ears, wise eyes and memorable phrases like, "Do or do not. There is no try," Yoda has become a symbol of wisdom throughout the galaxy. We kick off this episode with a discussion on Luke Skywalker’s first test with Yoda going into a cave filled with darkness. When Luke asks what is in the cave, Yoga simply replies, “Only what you take with you.” This scene with Jedi Grand Master Yoda is a perfect symbol for our journey in overcoming self-doubt and moving towards achieving internal validation. The path to finding your own personal power is not always easy but it is worth the effort. As Yoda said, “You must unlearn what you have learned.” We will also explore Dr. Slover’s Q.U.E.S.T. model to living your best life beyond the rut and making incremental, non-disruptive shifts in behavior to build momentum for massive life change. With Dr. Ed Slover's guidance, and Yoda's wisdom, we can free ourselves from doubts and self-doubt once and for all! If so, then join Kevin Palmieri and I as we uncover practical strategies to help you overcome your limiting beliefs and create the success that you desire. “I can't guarantee that everything is possible for you. But I can guarantee if you don't believe in it, and you don't pour into it, it won't happen. So you at least got to give it a shot.” “Jerry, I didn’t have a mid-life crisis. I was faced with a quarter-life crisis.” Kevin Palmieri found success early, or thought he did. Earning a 6-figure income at 25 years old, dating a model, driving a sports car, and living in a plush apartment, Palmieri thought he had it all. He felt empty inside. That is what sparked a change in Kevin to get out of his rut by aligning his life with who he wanted to be. With the help of a close friend, Kevin was able to identify his core values, adopt an abundance mindset, and redefine success that would include the best version of himself, healthy relationships, and a healthy relationship with money. Ep 346Healing Lives: Dr. Corey Gilbert’s Transformative Ministry for Men Healing from Trauma

When Dr. Corey Gilbert's counseling sessions exceed the typical 50 minutes and he enters clients' homes, he discovers the key to success is discipleship, not "counseling"; an inspiring journey to help men rise up and break free from the bondage of their past. "My goal when I sit with the client, whether it's online or whether it's in person, is we're there until we're done. And so whatever is needed and it's changed everything. We get more done in a shorter amount of time. We dig deeper because if you think of the session, it's more focused on prepping for what has to get done out of the session." In this episode, you will learn the following: 1. An alternative to the traditional 50-minute counseling session that works. 2. The impact of media on young people's perceptions of sexual norms. 3. Ep 345Exploring God’s Design for Marriage and Headship with Pastor Scott LaPierre

Headship in Christian marriage is a concept that is often misunderstood and misused, leading to harmful power imbalances and the perpetuation of patriarchal attitudes. But what if we told you that, in God’s design for marriage, headship is not about entitlement or domination, but rather a call to sacrificial love and servant leadership? In this episode, we dive into the true meaning of headship in Christian marriage, exploring the roles and responsibilities that come with it and challenging the harmful misconceptions that have plagued this important topic for too long. Headship in God’s Design for Marriage In Christian marriage, the concept of headship is paramount. It is a role that involves leadership, strength, and guidance. As the spiritual leader of the family, the husband is expected to provide examples of how to live a life that honors God’s will. This means being a solid example of faith, passion, and integrity that actively leads his family in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Jesus set an example of servant leadership when he washed the feet of His disciples, John 13:4-17. He placed Himself in a position of service to those who followed His leadership. Ephesians 5:21 (NIV) says to, “Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.” I often encourage husbands to go ahead and skip to verse 25, because that is where the letter specifically addresses us. The concept of headship in Christian marriage is rooted in scripture and implies a divinely-ordained order of authority within the family unit. The Bible makes it clear that the husband is to be the head of his wife, much like Christ is the head of the Church. This does not mean that husbands are meant to dominate their wives or make decisions without consulting them; rather, headship calls for a strong leader who takes responsibility for leading his wife and family according to God's will. It also includes providing spiritual guidance and protection, while nurturing and caring for one’s spouse with love and compassion. In this episode, you will learn the following: 1. The odds of divorce for couples who experienced divorce as children. 2. How it is possible to have equality in a marriage relationship and headship? 3. That time when Jerry was called to take on the headship of his marriage. 3. If committing to a biblical marriage, what responsibilities do Christian husbands have? Scott LaPierre - Teaching Pastor, Author, and Speaker Scott LaPierre is the teaching pastor of Woodland Christian Church in Woodland, WA, an author, and conference speaker. He holds an MA in Biblical Studies from Liberty University. Scott and his wife, Katie, have nine children and they are passionate homeschooling advocates.
