Tough but important topic today: What happens to a Christian immediately after death? What kind of body will a Christian ultimately have - a brand new body, a resurrected old body, or somewhere in between?

Seminary can be tough, but Paul has advice today for pastors and church leaders that helps to avoid frustration + the privilege and humility of being clay pots.

Today we discuss the most misinterpreted Bible verses and the ones that are often taken out of context and used on greeting cards, church signs, and coffee mugs. Is such a thing dangerous? You bet it is! Also: Does God promise His most faithful people will avoid trouble?

Is it possible for a mature and seasoned follower of God to be depressed? Absolutely, and we will encounter at least three examples of that in the Bible today while also discussing how and why to speak the truth to ourselves.

Why are some Bible passages difficult to understand - am I the problem? Also: How is it that Christians are supposed to be like living letters written by God to a lost and dying world.

Must Christians pray until God reveals His will on every major decision? Actually, no - the Bible does not call us to live this way and make decisions this way. On today's episode, we outline a 5 step process for making God-honoring decisions that is quite freeing!

There is a lot of confusion in the church today about spiritual gifts - and quite a bit of controversy too, but the Bible's longest teaching on spiritual gifts begins with this line, "I don't want you to be ignorant about spiritual gifts." Today we see what the Bible teaches us about spiritual gifts so that we will not be ignorant!

How could the Lord's Supper possibly be a dangerous activity? As we discover in 1 Corinthians 11, being selfish and me-first is a great way to end up sick, weak, or even asleep.

People often say that God will not give us more than we can bear, but the Bible teaches something completely different. Also: should Christians seek to avoid offending people, should we not worry about that at all?

God is our refuge and shelter and stronghold. Does this mean that we will be protected from all harm? Were the great saints of the Bible completely protected because of their faith?

Great promise from Scripture today: Weeping lasts for a time, but then comes joy. What does this mean, and how can we who are going through sorrowful times look forward to the joy that is forthcoming?

Paul is one of the most effective messengers of the message of Jesus that ever lived - how was he so fruitful? He will tell us today that the key to his method is slavery - he became slaves to those he sought to reach. Should we still do this today?

Big theological topic today: Most people assume that the Bible teaches that there is only ONE God, but various passages throughout the Old and New Testaments seem to indicate that there are many gods, and one overall God. What does the Bible teach - could there be many gods? Also: the dangers of lots of Bible knowledge without love or humility.

Today is PG13, as we are talking about sex. First, we grapple with Paul's teaching that it is better for a Christian to be single, but it is good to be married. Next we discuss the importance of sex in Christian marriage, and how husbands and wives are never allowed to deprive each other.

Two big topics today: Should I act to preserve my rights in a dispute with another Christian? More importantly: The Bible lists sins that will prohibit you from entering Heaven - what does this mean, and am I barred from Heaven by committing just one of these sins?!

Tough topic today: Church discipline, judging, and excommunication. Should Christians judge? Should Christians ever expel people from the church? In today's chapter, the apostle Paul will tell us one of the few times a Christian should judge.

First: How should we handle it when we feel like we are abandoned, or that God is ignoring our prayers? Scond: How can we manage all of the fears that we face? Can the Psalms help us with that? Are the Psalms honest about fear?

Will there be fear in Heaven? I believe so, because the Bible tells us that there is already abundant fear in Heaven - the fear of the Lord. Today we see five promises of blessing in the Psalms for those who fear God.

Does the church have a God given business that it is supposed to be doing? Sort of. Also: How is the Kingdom of God not about talk and words, but about power?

What is the only biblically ordained church growth method? It turns out to be quite different from most modern methods, and it involves planting, watering, building, and laying the right foundation, as each part does its work. Today we discuss real biblical evangelism and discipleship!

Paul speaks quite enigmatically in 1 Corinthians 2, discussing God's hidden wisdom, and a long-hidden mystery of God. What are these things - what could God be hiding?? (Or, is something deeper afoot, Watson?)

Paul says there must be NO - zero divisions in the church, and pastor Tony Evans today will help us see how the truth of God's Word can guide us away from race-based divisions, class-based divisions, and other possible disagreements.

Christians believe that Jesus rose from the dead at least in part because the Bible teaches it. How then can we know the Bible is reliable - isn't it just another religious book filled with outrageous stories and claims? Also: How Christians should answer the questions of skeptics.

Today we wade into a huge discussion: Sovereignty vs. Free Will. How is God our Shepherd - does He guide very detail of our life? Does He force His will on us? Is there such a thing as free will? Today we receive wisdom from C.S. Lewis on sovereignty and free will.

On the cross, at the lowest and hardest point of His life, Jesus was forsaken by His Father. Why did such a terrible thing happen?

While Jesus was dying on the cross, the religious leaders mocked Him viciously, suggesting that He should be able to save Himself from death, if He was truly the Messiah. Unbeknownst to them, if Jesus did save Himself, then He would have demonstrated that He was not the Messiah at all, according to the prophet Isaiah and other Bible prophecies.

Today we see how Jesus gives us a completely different definition of greatness than the world does. Also - we look to the Scriptures to see all of the many ways that Satan, or the Devil, seeks, to attack Christians and oppose the will of God.

Two more topics today: What defines true giving in the eyes of Jesus - the amount you give numerically, or something else? ALSO: How can we best be ready for the end times and the second coming, according to Jesus Himself?

In Luke 19, we see the amazing character of Jesus, befriending and dining with Zacchaeus, when everybody else pretty much hated him. We also see Jesus unambiguously declaring Himself to be God AND we learn several truths about the Second Coming from the Parable of the Talents/Minas.

Today we discuss how reading through the Psalms helps us parse and process our emotions, especially emotions like doubt and anxiety. Also, we marvel at how God can save anybody and send them to Heaven if literally ALL people are unrighteous.

In reading the Psalms today, we find that many have the feeling that they are alone - that nobody else around them is seeking the Lord, but we will also find out that the Lord protects those who are His, and hears their groaning.

Most shows geared for kids and teens these days have a mantra: Believe in yourself! Be yourself! How does such a philosophy stand up to the teaching of Jesus? Not very well, we will find out today, as Jesus shows us a Pharisee who believed in himself and a tax collector, who was a great sinner, and yet was heard by God.

The disciples uttered a wonderful prayer when Jesus told them that they must forgive people over and over again, and we can learn much about obedience and faithfulness from that prayer.

The Bible says very little about what happens immediately after we die, but today's passage is one of the few that addresses that question, so we discuss it, as well as Jesus' mysterious statement that Lazarus the beggar was in a place called 'Abraham's Bosom.' Does this refer to Heaven, or purgatory, or some other place?

The prodigal son is one of the most famous teachings of Jesus, but there are many misconceptions that people have about it. Most don't know exactly what prodigal means, nor do they know that this is a parable about TWO sons, and not just one, and that a big focus in the parable is the JOY of the father over the return of His son. Today we talk prodigal sons and joy over finding lost things.

Jesus teaches several parables in Luke 14, one of whom calls His listeners to hate their fathers and mothers. Why would Jesus teach such a strange thing, and is there a deeper meaning to what He said, considering that Jesus commanded His followers to love everybody, including their enemies?

Sometimes we are so satisfied in the way that God answers our prayers and brings justice against those who do evil...and sometimes, we don't understand God's ways or His delays at all. We see both of these realities reflected in the Psalms, which genuinely mirror our emotions and feelings so well at times. Today we struggle to understand the justice of God.

Forgiveness is important and commanded by Jesus in Scripture - Christians must forgive! However, what about a situation where a person has done something evil, and they are neither sorry nor repentant about what they have done. Must we forgives in that situation also?

Jesus discusses disasters in today's chapter, and asks a penetrating question - do the worst disasters happen to the worst people? Do bad things happen to the most bad people? Actually, no says Jesus. How do disasters work?

Jesus strongly opposed the Pharisees and other religious leaders - often because they were such big hypocrites. What is hypocrisy - what is a hypocrite? Why did Jesus single out this behavior as so worthy of His challenge?

Today we discuss Jesus' call to persist in prayer and read a fascinating letter from a teenage orphan dying in her hospital bed that calls her friend to turn to Jesus and keep on asking, seeking and knocking on the door of prayer.

In Luke 10, Jesus sends out 72 of His followers to go and share the good news, and their mission is remarkably successful. They come back overjoyed, remarking that even demons had submitted to their names. Jesus then sits them down and challenges them on this, turning their rejoicing away from marvelling at their success, towards marvelling at God's grace. Why did He do this?
