Ep 129:6 - Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:1-7)
Over 700 hundred years before Jesus was born, the prophet Isaiah gave him four names describing the relationship he would have with God's people. The last of these names is Prince of Peace. Real and lasting peace anywhere must have as its foundation peace with God through Jesus Christ. Peace with God through Christ frees us to possess peace within ourselves, to pursue peace with others, and to promote peace in the world.

Ep 109:6 - Mighty God (Isaiah 9:1-7)
Over 700 years before Jesus was born, the prophet Isaiah gave the promised Child of Christmas four powerful names.

Ep 99:6 - Wonderful Counselor (Isaiah 9:1-7)
Names mean something, and usually the name you are called communicates something about the relationship between you and the person who calls you by that name (ex. Mr. so-and-so, title, first name, full name, nickname, daddy, etc.). The same is true for the names given to Jesus over 700 years before his birth. They are given by a prophet to a people who are about to be plunged into deep darkness because of their sin and unwillingness to trust the Lord. But "the people who walked in darkness have seen a great light... unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulders and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." These names are relational in nature, revealing who God is to and for his people in the promised child of Christmas, the Lord Jesus. Jesus is uniquely qualified to be our Wonderful Counselor because he is God. Jesus is uniquely qualified to be our Wonderful Counselor because He is human. Trust Him. Accept His invitation. Listen to His Word and do what He says, knowing that He has already dealt with the problem that gives rise to every other problem in our lives and in this world through his life, death, and resurrection. ***Our apologies, there were some technical difficulties during this service which are heard on the recording.
