Bonus: Why We Need A Slot Size Limit With Scott And Brad
bonusScott and Brad are just a couple of everyday Aussie fishos who are passionate about catching - and releasing unharmed - really big flathead. They're petitioning for the implementation of a slot size limit of 40-70cm for flathead in NSW. Most people don't understand the true benefit of a slot size limit. Bag limits and minimum sizes protect from overfishing, but they selectively remove big fish from the gene pool. So over time we can have a fishery with plenty of fish, but few big ones. Slot limits ensure we'll we'll have plenty of big fish, too. Show notes for this episode: https://doclures.com/slot-size-limit-flathead/

S1 Ep 366Episode 366: 9 Lure Fishing Hacks With Greg Vinall
Something that separates the top guides and tournament pros from the average weekend angler is they way they organise their tackle and boat and how they prepare for a fishing adventure. This is a somewhat random podcast episode where I offload a few of the lure fishing hacks that I use and that some of my guests have shared on ALF. They'll not only save time when you're out on the water, but can maximise your fishing experience and minimise unnecessary frustration. ___________________

S1 Ep 364Episode 364: Cape York Barramundi With Nigel Webster
Travelling around Cape York in a four wheel drive with a tinnie is a dry season only affair, but opens anglers up to numerous opportunities to chase barra on small, overgrown and pretty much unfished waterholes. Nigel and Nikko from AFN's Fishing Show spent a chunk of 2020 exploring the Cape, so I though it was timely to bring Nigel aboard to tell us what he learned! _______________________ Want even more great audio fishing content? Love 'em or hate 'em, redfin perch are a permanent fixture in the majority of Australia's southern lake and impoundments. S1 Ep 355Episode 355: Keeping Fish For The Table With Greg Vinall
Normally on ALF we talk about proper handling of fish for release, but today we're going to talk about handling of fish destined for the table. Recreational anglers have an advantage over the pros in that they have more time to care for and process fish. Yet, it's really common to see fish being handled poorly. As a result, the fish suffers more than it should and the angler doesn't get to experience just how superior recreationally caught fish can be. If you're going to take a fish to eat, do yourself a favour and make the dining experience all it can be! Show notes: https://doclures.com/keeping-fish/
