Chris Jent (North Melbourne Giants) on his NBL career and the Houston Rockets 1994 championship

In 1995 the NBL was arguably the most successful period in Australian basketball history, the NBL was at it's peak and with the North Melbourne Giants reigning NBL champions they recruited Chris Jent, who had won an NBA championship with the Houston Rockets only a few months earlier to replace an injury Paul Maley and formed a dynamic duo with Darryl McDonald. The team was unable to repeat as champions, losing the deciding third game of the NBL Grand Final to the Perth Wildcats 108-88. Jent averaged 25.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.9 steals per game and was named all NBL first team in the process. Darnell Mee on Adelaide's back to back titles (1998-99) and his NBA career

During his NBL career, Mee was regarded as the best defensive player in the league. When he retired he had won more NBL Best Defensive Player awards than anyone in league history. Benny Lewis talks 1980's Melbourne Basketball and his 10 year NBL career

Benny Lewis played 250 games in the NBL and was one of the most potent scorers of the 1980s. He arrived in the NBL in 1981 for Illawarra and averaged 20.5 points per game, he then played the majority of his career with the Coburg Giants before they moved to North Melbourne. His best season coming in 1984 when he averaged 31 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and he continued to light up the league until 1990 averaging 23 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists for his career. Larry Abney on his time with Townsville, Cairns and now the LA Clippers coaching staff

"The Birdman" Larry Abney played 122 NBL games with Townsville and Cairns where he averaged 17.5 points, 9.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. Born in Nyack, New York he attended Fresno State and played beside cult basketball figures Rafer "Skip To My Lou" of AND1 basketball fame and Chris Herren, as well as NBL star Willie Farley. He also played professionally in Korea, France, Venezuela, Cyprus, Netherlands, Argentina, Mexico, Ukraine, Kosovo and New Zealand. In 2017, Abney joined the staff of the Los Angeles Clippers as a player development coach and basketball operations assistant under head coach Glenn "Doc" Rivers In 2018 alongside childhood friends, former teammates, and fellow Rockland, NY natives Steve Canal and Chester Felts, Abney co-founded Rockland Legacy, an organization that provides support and mentorship to help Rockland County's youth achieve their dreams. Steve Woodberry (1999 NBL MVP) on his time playing in the NBL, Europe and the NCAA FInal Four

Steve Woodberry was born in Wichita, Kansas, attending Wichita South High School before playing for the University of Kansas where he was a part of two Final Four teams at Kansas in 1991 and 1993. In 1994 Woodberry won a championship in the Swiss league with Belinzona before signing a deal to play in Australia with the Gold Coast Rollers in 1995. In his first season in Australia, Woodberry averaged 24.5 points, 7.4 assists and 7.6 rebounds per game. Before suffering an injury at training, forcing him to return to Kansas. Woodberry would return to Australia the following year to play for the Brisbane Bullets. It was here he played the best basketball of his career, earning a spot on the All-NBL First Team in 1998 and 1999. Woodberry would win league MVP in 1999 before agreeing to play for the Sydney Kings in 2000. Woodberry would suffer an injury in the NBL pre-season and last only 4 games before having to return to Kansas for rehabilitation. Woodberry later spent two seasons playing professionally in Lithuania for Zalgiris Kaunas, where won a Lithuanian championship in 2001. Since retiring in 2006 Woodberry has coached in the US college system for Missouri State, Tulsa and Wake Forest. Daren Rowe (Geelong Supercats) the only man to record an NBL quadruple-double

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Geelong Supercats we chat with a legend from the club's time in the NBL (1982-1996) Daren Rowe, the only man to record a quadruple-double in NBL history. Rowe averaged 19.5 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 2.3 steals and 2.1 blocks during three NBL seasons. Hear him talk about how the Supercats had the Geelong Arena rocking in the 1990's, playing alongside legends like Shane Heal, Bobby Locke and John Dorge and the night he went off 25 points, 17 rebounds, 11 blocked shots and 11 assists playing in all but 34 seconds of the game as Geelong defeated North Melbourne 131-123. The Southern Huskies plan to bring NBL basketball back to Tasmania

There's been a lot of buzz since the consortium behind the Southern Huskies released marketing material for their proposed NBL team which featured team branding, uniforms and plans for the expansion and update of the Derwent Entertainment Center. The team still has a number of things it needs to tick off before officially gaining an NBL licence so we reached out to the two men behind the Southern Huskies, David Bartlett, the 43rd premier of Tasmania and current president of the Hobart Chargers basketball club and Justin Hickey, Entrepreneur and former Hobart Devil himself. We go in-depth with the proposed financial plan for the team and find out what do they have to do next to get approval from the NBL to become the league's tenth team. NBL Expansion: A 9th team confirmed and a 10th soon to be announced. Aust. Basketball Hall Of Famer Bob Turner joins us to discuss.

The NBL announced this week that it will be expanding to nine teams with part-owner of the NZ Breakers Romie Chaudhari purchasing an NBL licence. With Jeremy Loeliger hinted at the NBL looking to start the 2019-20 season with a "minimum" of nine teams and a consortium in Tasmania likely to announce their intentions to enter the NBL in the next few weeks the competition looks set to grow beyond eight teams since the demise of the Gold Coast Blaze in 2012. Hall of Famer Bob Turner on NBL expansion issues & the 90's era Sydney Kings

After a great podcast last month with FIBA and Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Lindsay Gaze which reflected on the early years of the NBL from a Victorian perspective, we decided to get a New South Wales point of view by interviewing NBL Hall of Famer Bob Turner. Turner came to Australia in 1976 to play with the Shoalhaven Tigers in the NSW State League and was appointed player/coach of the Newcastle Falcons when the NBL debuted in 1979.
