Starting as a San Diego police explorer cadet at 15, he worked his way up to the rank of lieutenant before leaving the Cadets at 20 to pursue a career in the real deal.Dave dreamt of joining the San Diego PD, spending his Friday and Saturday nights on ride-alongs, and paving his way to success. However, his lead foot hindered his entry into the PD, redirecting him towards the sheriff's department upon a friend's recommendation.Dave found himself in the tough environment of the jails, which provided the necessary experience to prepare him for the streets. Working closely with an 18-man team, they became like family, relying on each other to ensure their safety.As time passed, political shifts occurred, with inmates seemingly gaining more rights than the officers tasked with protecting them, both inside prison walls and out on the streets of our towns.While Dave's career in law enforcement progressed, he found solace in his love for riding ATVs. Racing in the Desert District 38 and participating in police and sheriff's MX events allowed him to cope with the stress. Chad left Gatorback with a broken collarbone, scoring a 1 in Moto 1 and a 0 in Moto 2. Moving into unknown territory, Chad quickly spoke with his doctor to figure out a plan. On Monday, he underwent surgery and had a strengthening gusset added to his broken bone.With no word coming out of the Hetrick or Wienen camps, the ATV MX world was turned upside down, and after 12 years, a new points leader emerged. The big question was, what was Chad going to do? No word, nothing, just rumors of retirement or riding only for points.Rolling into Underground in Texas, the unforeseeable happened. Chad qualified 3rd, which was a surprise to everyone. In 2003 Doug was talked into riding an LTZ 400. This was the best thing to happen to Doug, earning a factory ride with Suzuki that lasted until he retired in 2009.Building a new machine that wasn't a pro-level and learning not to damage his race machine limited what the factory would do for the practice machine. Doug wanted more of a race quad. The reason for the slower stock machine was the hours Doug put into them and the cost of parts.Spanning more than 20 years of career, Doug Gust showed the way and put all the other racers on alert. They knew it was never a give-me when Doug Gust showed up. All the hard work and hard times paid big dividends. Bryce had a good end of the year setting up for his 2023. He is looking to start strong in Texas. Last year he had a second-place Win during the quad cross of nations for team USA. Bryce Ford came into his own finishing 4th in MX points. He got picked to ride for Team USA at the QXoN. Michael Byrd got to work with legends like John Natalli and current racers like Jeffery Rastrelli. That's quite a resume. All these events, riders, and roads traveled helped build a skill set that propelled him to the highest level.Seeing Chad Weinen washing his own machine was an uplifting moment. Byrd wondered why this multiple-time champion had no mechanic. He walked over to ask why that was and when he did he got a job as his mechanic. For the next 3 years, 2 championships and 2 spots on the box have proved to always ask.Byrd is looking to 2023 with open eyes focused on refining the platform and looking at every detail and aspect of the process. ATV-TALK made an appearance to cover the Huevos Invitational event. We got to see the track getting built, got to do interviews, and went live on Instagram to show off the event. This is a must-listen recap of the Friday-Saturday events. Bracket racing single elimination as groups of 2 lined up. Rastrelli vs Hoag was first this started a very fantastic event. As you will see from race to race the tires did the job of making a huge equalizer. The tires did not decide all the racing outcome but most of it. Five different talents and skill sets were present.The crowd was growing as the heats rolled out the cheers were loud everyone had a favorite, the west coast fans were seeing the east coast stars live not in their environment but still live and in person. They rolled through the heats into the semi-finals. John Natalie the 47-year-old 2-time champ was taking the crowd by storm until childhood fan walker fowler ended his time on the race. We were days away and the notice of possible cancellation of the Huevos invitational popped up on social media. Unfortunately something behind the scenes. Even with that almost happening, Huevos pulled it off. To Bring riders from all over the country to the west had to be a unique kind of event. There were 4 different disciplines really 5 counting Desert racers. The money yes is a part of it, but the other is two events in a weekend. Making this equal was the biggest question on all the riders' and spectators' minds. ATV-TALK made an appearance to cover the whole event. In the early ’70s, ATCs were becoming more and more popular. Many of the men were doing Chassis Mods while others were doing engine development, which led to the introduction of Team Honda. S3 Ep 210Episode 210 Chad Wienen: "The quest to regain his title"
As Chad recaps what most would call an amazing season, fighting for a championship with 4 wins on the season. Chad had 4 wins out of 10 races with a couple of them not ending with the outcome he needed. While being competitive all year he’s still in the fight. He will go back to the shop, test track, and find a little more speed. His mental focus will need to improve to win again in 2023. As Chad drove home from the finals at no point did he say it was not a good season, but it was disappointing not to win. Looking inward he asked himself a lot of questions “do I still have it?” “do I still want it?” “am I as angry as I am?” with the conclusion that he still wants to race more. He was looking forward to a short relaxing time, but not this year. He needs to get to work harder since 2023 is around the corner. Preparations will start as the truck is unloaded. Chad will focus on every detail, the tires and suspension, training mind and body, and anything else he can do to win. Chad will build on his 2022 season with more testing and developing better setups and combinations for every track. The desire to win and become champion again gets stronger every day. All his thoughts about what could have been mattered not. Chad has 8 titles, but that’s not what matters. Winning and being the best is.The fire still burns and the desire to win is still there. In 2017 history was made, and Team USA won the first Quadcross of Nations. This year, 2022, two multiple-time champions and Team USA veterans take a rookie to the Quadcross of Nations. Rookie rider Bryce Ford is under the wing of Chad Wienen and Joel Hetrick to put the USA on the top of the box again. This is the fifth time the USA will be attending quad cross of nations. Chad Wienen will be the anchor as this is his fifth time. While Joel will be the workhorse to produce wins. Then Bryce rounds it off with consistency and speed. Episode 208 is not only about Brian Fuller's story but also about Leonard's beginnings. The trials and tribulations of life couldn't stop the love of racing, developing skills, and friendships that stand the test of time. Learning lessons that still guide us and being a good human was always the key. The stories that tie us all together from way back in the 70s racing motorcycles to riding three-wheelers in dunes. Then transferred into racing 3 three-wheelers locally moving to the nationals, to quads, and ultimately to the next generation. A young lady is making her presence known braking down the barriers in motorcycle racing. The support classes in moto America developed greats like Nikki Hadden. Joe Tolle (Content creator for ATV on Demand ) was 4 years old when seeing his first m/c. He instantly fell in love with off road like so many, with no funds and a love of riding. Coming from 2 wheels to finding his love of ATVs’s, his first’s was a blasters and working to a warrior, growing into an informative site for consumer information.His humble upbringing added to his abilities to come up with the information watchers and listeners needed. This all got started on accident with a video camera and a comment. He was in their shoes from the beginning with the only printed magazine at that point. Finding information wasn’t always easy, learning who made and manufactured good parts, answering the phone or offering tech support was complex. But it gave him good knowledge to creating quality videos, with the information needed for people to make educated choices. S3 Ep 201Episode 201 Cody Collier: "4x4’s racing, tough men and tougher machines "
Cody Collier and team members Dayton Hickey and Gavin Jenkins jumped on the chance to race the 9hr preparing the Can-am 850. The 2 best 4x4 pro teams Cody got by BNR early but almost immediately lined choices. Stick that got in the electrical on the bars causing them to have problems on the first lap putting them in last place and 10 plus mins back.The build time and prep done by Mike Segers pays off for a very reliable machine the motors are very durable as long as the correct clutch parts are used. Lap times from sport quads to 4x4 have some spread on roughly a 21-minute sport quad lap your fastest 4x4 rider is in the high 22:40’s with a few problems with electrical the Can am’s couldn’t quit beating the sport ATV teams but the pro 4x4 battle was heating up coming into the final lapsThe race for the overall had all but been taken away from the PRO 4x4 teams as the race was closing in on the last few laps Cody’s unit was fighting for every inch the BNR team was unfortunately for them having things happen to bring them closer to Cody and the boy’s. The race came down to the last lap

S3 Ep 200Episode 200 Kinsey Osborn: "WMX crowns a rookie champion ”
It starts on a rain-soaked shortened track in Daytona Florida. The gate dropped and the 3-time champion took the lead with wait Kinsey Osborn a rookie in the Pro women class. They ran 1-2 in the hole race setting the tone for the year and a new rivalry. The year's battle has started. Youth grow all of the sports we watch the ATV racing industry is no different. Kinsey came out of the amateur where she was dominant riding a smaller CC machine. Moving up in class going to a 450 with a multiple-time champion leading the way in the WMX the season was meant to be a growth year setting up a pro career The transition suited Kinsey the larger CC machine felt normal instantly growing more and more comfortable every time she road. Her maiden season was a dream year winning by round 2 that’s all she needed to know the rest of the season was hers .still in high school also with her studies and basketball it’s a full load add a professional racing career on top. Being a seasoned veteran doesn’t mean that the rookies can’t come in and take over. We do not see this very often in the sporting world. This year in the WMX was a changing of the guard with the youth of the sports taking over the class. In the future, we will see the level raise and youth take this class to a new level your veterans won’t go easy.

S2 Ep 199Episode 199 Jackie Meadows: "The ride ended as soon as it started"
Racing was a large part of the Meadows family household as Jackie grew up. Motorcycles did not make him happy but the day he road that first three-wheeler, his whole world changed. Racing Tri moto’s and other models until he could get on Kawaski, he went through the amateur classes with a goal to make it to the Pros. Jackie rode the nationals and got a chance to race Mickey Thompson stadium shows even before he was old enough to get in. As the factories pulled back and the independents did their best to take over and carry the industry into the future, Jackie was doing his best to transition from a factory-backed rider to an independent. In the late 80s, Jackie and his family needed to make a big decision: leaving ATV racing and moving into Drag cars to focus on the family business. Ten to twelve years later Jackie got another chance with Kawaski, unfortunately, while this was going on Jackie's Father passed.
