063: Notice me Senpai
Josh Vergara, Joe Hindy and Jonathan Feist are joined by John Dye, at least until security pulls him out of his old school, for a pretty chill episode of the AA Podcast. We'd ask you to schedule us in, but all the good calendars are gone, we'd ask you to download our show to listen later, but our favorite file manager has gone rotten, at least VR is hitting homes and we're excited to see what the Vive and other contenders accomplishes next. Finally, we spend more than a few minutes debating if tech bloggers are out of touch with the average user, or if we think the average user is out of touch with technology as a whole. Thank you for joining us, be sure to check out our Gary explains series, bringing you an in-depth look at hardware and Android development topics ranging from system cache to what limits the size of the microSD card on your phone. 062: Intel's Out, The Rock Is In
Keeping things chill, Josh Vergara, Joe Hindy and Jonathan Feist keep it real on this episode of the AA Podcast. A quick chat about navigation apps has us joking about T-Pain, Joe thinks the new Baywatch has smart casting, The Rock Clock rocks Josh's morning, Intel having some issues in mobile, then we argue for half hour about what is missing in stock Android? 061: Cooking Class
Josh Vergara, joined by Joe Hindy, Nirave Gondhia and Jonathan Feist are excited to welcome John Dye to the latest episode of the AA Podcast. More than one laugh was shared as the extended check-in revealed more behinds the scenes info than it really should have, giving you insight into what makes us tick. Tangents aside, we talk cooking and trade shows, then we talked a little about tech: batteries don't just explode, at least not normally, Uber is making some financial changes, and in no real surprise, Google killed the Nexus 9, what does that mean for Google I/O? Thank you for joining us, be sure to check out our partner sites - SoundGuys cover the best mobile audio gear and TabTimes talks all things tablet. 060: The Nexus Citrus
Andrew Grush returns to join Josh Vergara, Joe Hindy and Jonathan Feist for the latest episode of the AA Podcast. Joe's spirited discussion on what makes a flagship smartphone stand out continues this week, moving the topic more to the software side of things. We didn't talk about Google bringing app awards to the Google I/O conference this year, but we did talk about what we do and do not like about some phones, we think the Motorola Citrus with a Nexus Live Case or DBrand skin wouldn't make the phone any better, but that certainly made us talk about physical buttons. Thank you to AJ for his continued awesomeness in our forums, we hope we answered your questions with grace. 059: Good enough for the Average User
Josh Vergara leads the way for Joe Hindy, Nirave Gondhia and Jonathan Feist to chat about Android stuff. With the goal of chatting about the HTC 10 and TV commercials, Joe gets the panel debating flagship devices and what makes them great, or not great, either way, outrage over all phones being made for the average user prevails. Storage space is the name of the game, as it turns out. What does make for a flagship? Has the Chromebook ruined manufacturer's expectations of user needs? We try to answer these things, but it may be that 16GB or 32GB of internal storage is here to stay for a while. 058: 1 Star Until Fixed
Josh Vergara returns from his trip to San Francisco for the Microsoft Build conference and has a few things to say about it. Joining him are Joe Hindy and Jonathan Feist to also talk about Kingdom Hearts Unchained X, the finally released official Reddit app and our opinions on reviews in the Google Play Store, plus we chat the LG G5, again, and a bit about cameras and the future value in modular phone design. We'll be back in less than a fortnight with more; for now, we hope you enjoy episode 058 of our show, and remember, painted metal is still, technically, metal, will that change your opinion of LG's new phone? Be sure to check out our post on Android Authority for links and details. The Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every week.
057: LG G5, Miitomo and April Fool's pranks
With Josh away, Jonathan Feist, Joe Hindy and Nirave Gondhia get up to all sorts of April Fool's Day inspired trouble. This episode is not available in SnoopaVision, there is no Nokia A1 in the works, at least not that we know of, and the best smartphone ever, well, we still think we're on to something. Joins us as we chat about Nintendo's first attempts at an Android game, Mittomo, we talk about our favorite April Fool's Day pranks as well, but one of our own gets us really thinking, what do we really want out of our ideal Android phone? You had the chance to answer that on the site, and our discussion continually turns to the LG G5, does that mean we think the LG G5 is the ideal phone? Listen on to find out, but one thing is for sure, we know where we stand on the plastic vs metal conversation. 056: Gotta catch 'em AMOLEDs
Getting back to our normal routine, for one week, Joshua Vergara hosts as Joe Hindy and Jonathan Feist record on a Saturday. We concede that some of the biggest news from the week is the announcement of the new iPhone SE and iPad Pro 9.7, both of which we don't think will disrupt the market at all, but we're looking forward to the iPad coverage over on TabTimes. Talking about Pokemon Go leads to a quick discussion on AR vs VR technology - some of us think AR is the way of the future, others think VR will win out, but we all agree, there is room to grow. Finally, Joe has to go clean his back yard... No, that's not it, we talked about display technology, we think we like the fact that AMOLED panels can now be produced at a lower cost than LCD, but that is dependent on the resolution. Talking VR at SXSW 2016
The Android Authority team goes outside of their general zone and visits SXSW, the film/music/tech festival held in the wonderful city of Austin, Texas! After a few days of getting to know the show itself, Joshua Vergara was joined by co-founder Darcy Lacouvee and Managing Editor Nirave Gondhia to attend a number of panels teaching the in and outs of virtual reality and 360 video. The gist of the panels focused on storytelling, the application of VR for more than just the entertainment business, and the future of the next big thing in content creation. In this podcast, however, the three were joined by a native Texan now hailing from Louisiana, writer John Dye. Many of you fans of Android Authority have probably read John's writing on the website and enjoyed his way with words. So, without any further ado, listen (and watch on YouTube) the guys gush about VR cameras and videos! The Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every week.
055: Android N and ten cents for charity
What was supposed to be a thorough discussion on Android N, turns into Joshua Vergara, Joe Hindy and Jonathan Feist catching up, talking about apps, Amazon and sharing some strange theories before getting on point. Android N is packed with plenty of cool new features, we explore a few of them, including our strong opinions on the App Drawer. Josh was happy to be home from MWC and an extended trip to the UK, only to find himself on the road to Austin for SXSW before this podcast could be produced for your listening pleasure. 054: Failure to Launch(er) in London
Joined by fellow London correspondent and returning podcast guest Robert Triggs, Josh and Nirave manage to get a live podcast recorded and filmed in a random hotel lobby in Central London. As Josh tries to handle having two Brits flank him on the podcast, Nirave has a slew of newly appointed royal names for the regular hosts of the podcast and Triggs brings a calm and collected opinion to an otherwise topic-filled episode of the AA Podcast. Join them as they talk about the ongoing S7 vs G5 debate, the potential impact of RemixOS, and the possible implications following the loss of the app drawer in future versions of Android. All coming to you live from London! The Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every week.
MWC 2016 Podcast with special guests!

New app updates, reactions to Google's unification of Android elements, and thoughts about the recently released Huawei Mate 8 review are on the table this week. 048: Returning from CES
Pretty much everyone from the AA Podcast got to head to CES and see some great technology - except Joe. With that in mind, Joshua Vergara and Jonathan Feist ask Joe Hindy's opinion as a sort of outsider regarding what went down at the show. The guys end up reacting to Huawei as the apparent star of the show and Joe rants about why the rest of the companies may have dropped the ball this year. We're all glad to be back home and healthy after the Consumer Electronics Show of 2016, so join us for our return episode of the AA Podcast! We're stoked to have Josh returning at CES, look for his return in our next episode. This is as good as 'The Best of 2015' as we get, enjoy! The Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every single week.
046: Holiday greetings and bad drivers
For this holiday week, Jonathan Feist, Andrew Grush and Joe Hindy got together to talk about their plans and the weather. Our boss and a few of our YouTube personalities, including Josh, sent a greeting message for you, and we managed to talk about Google's self driving car initiative for no more than a few seconds before going off track, literally and figuratively. I suppose we should conclude that at least two thirds of our panel would benefit from this expected partnership with Ford. With just one more show before the end of the year, we want to thank you again, it is your continued support that makes this all possible. We enjoy sharing a laugh with you each week. We hope that you and yours have a wonderful holiday season. The Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every single week.
045: Star Wars and Android N(irave)
With most of our regular panel back on the show, join Jonathan Feist with Andrew Grush, Joe Hindy, Nirave Gondhia and returning guest Jimmy Westenberg. Star Wars once again dominates our talks, with the movie release just the day before we recorded, we talk about the promotions and tech utilized by Google and more. Following up with our Best of Android series on the site, the final winners have been announced and we talk quickly about how we feel about the results. Finally, if you were given the chance to name the next release of Android, what would it be? The Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every single week.
044: Galaxy S7 rumors and Pixel C
Join us for an informative and Star Wars Cardboard riddled episode of the Android Authority Podcast! In the absence of almost our entire panel, Jonathan Feist is joined by Lanh Nguyen, Jimmy Westenberg and Rog Triggs. We journey through Android's multi-tasking capabilities, especially as found on the Pixel C, we talk about our thoughts and expectations for Samsung's next flagship release, the Galaxy S7, and discuss quickly how HTC is turning things around by playing it safe. Come check out our in-depth testing of display, audio, performance, user experience and more of our favorite Android phones of 2015. The Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every single week.
043: LCD, OLED or Quantum Dot display?
With Joshua Vergara enjoying some time away this December, Jonathan Feist is leading the way with Andrew Grush, Joe Hindy and Nirave Gondhia rounding out the discussions and shenanigans. As we recap our Thanksgiving adventures, the conversation turns to our Black Friday purchases and how the technology behind our new toys may change what we purchase next. Specifically, we explore display technology, share our thoughts on LCD vs OLED vs Quantum Dot, debate how important display resolution is to our Android experience and learn how one of us managed to save Christmas. Enjoy AA Podcast #043. The Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every week.
042: Thanksgiving with AA!
Join us for a very special episode of the Android Authority Podcast! The full panel gets together (Joe Hindy, Jonathan Feist, Nirave Gondhia, Andrew Grush) and follow Josh on a Thanksgiving journey - they talk about the different plans they have for Thanksgiving before getting into the typical talk of what they're grateful for. However, sprinkled among all of that are small rants about family, a bit of wine and whiskey, and talk about what YOU are thankful for! It's the longest episode we might have ever recorded, but it also might be one of the funnest. If you're coming back from the Black Friday shopping, we hope that you stayed safe. If you're just listening along with your Thanksgiving leftovers, pour the gravy on the turkey and press play! The Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every single week. (Well, not so much this one. A little bit, though!)
041: Subscriptioned to death!
Joe Hindy and Jonathan Feist get together this week with Josh to talk about the topics of the week, but there weren't too many things to talk about during another slow news week. With the holiday season fast approaching, the guys talk about Black Friday one more time, pondering what items they might want to get if they got out of the house to actually battle the crowds (Joe has already decided that he won't). But after a few check-ins and some talk about Josh's experience appearing on TWiT's All About Android, the gang checks on their subscription services and risks realizing just how much money they're burning on what has become a micro-payment, subscription-based world. Join us for a really chill but enjoyable episode of the Android Authority Podcast! Also, this week we will be getting together for a special Thanksgiving episode - so stay tuned! The Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every week.
040: Binge On this!
Josh Vergara leads Andrew Grush, Joe Hindy, Jonathan Feist and Nirave Gondhia through an interesting conversation on carriers, the idea was to discuss net neutrality and T-Mobile's new video streaming perks, but we divert into looking at pricing and features. We share some of our own insights on data services in our local areas and for our international travel. From there, Josh and Nirave both have the new BlackBerry Priv in hand, come hear what they have to say about this new Android phone with a slide-out keyboard. Enjoy AA Podcast #040. The Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every week.
039: DROOOOIIIIID
Josh is joined this week by Jonathan Feist, Andrew Grush, and Joe Hindy as the slow news week winds down. Though it was definitely a slower week than most, that didn't keep the guys from finding things to talk about - exploding spare batteries, wireless chargers, and new VR applications. But the main topics focus upon the DROID line in Verizon and how they believe these phones should be available outside of just that one carrier. To round things out, they speak about the OnePlus X ahead of what will be Josh's full review later this week. Even in a slow news week, the guys find a way to bring a full session of the Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every single week.
038: OnePlus X and Chromedroid
With Josh Vergara sitting this one out, Jonathan Feist leads while Andrew Grush, Joe Hindy and Nirave Gondhia spend a good amount of time saying really nice things about the OnePlus X and the Samsung Galaxy View. One is a decidedly mid-range smartphone with a fairly small display, the other is a decidedly mid-range tablet with a honkin’ big 18.4-inch display. We are split on our thoughts of a merger between Android and Chrome OS; opinions are all over the place, fueled by the basic uncertainty as to what exactly may or may not happen to Android and that other OS that Google has. Enjoy AA Podcast #038. The Android Authority Podcast – discussing topics in Android every week.
037: HTC One A9 and the Question of Derivation
A very chill episode of the Android Authority Podcast brings Jonathan Feist, Joe Hindy, and host Joshua Vergara together to talk about a number of simple topics: the HTC One A9, the iPhone, rumors about the OnePlus X, and bug bites. Despite how chill it might have been, the days that immediately followed were definitely really busy, so we apologize for the later release of this episode! But you can still join the three guys as they laugh their Friday away. The Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every week.
036: What we won't do for a OnePlus Two
With Joshua Vergara and Joe Hindy sitting this one out, Jonathan Feist leads while Andrew Grush and Nirave Gondhia spend a good amount of time figuring out if OnePlus has a good marketing strategy with the Two, or if they are just a little bonkers. Android Marshmallow continues to roll out, with LG announcing they'll be the first non-Nexus devices to get the update. With all of these new and exciting devices on the market, last generation devices are starting to see some amazing price tags, listen on to find out if we think the Nexus 6 is still a good buy. (My apologies this time folks, the audio quality on this was sub-par, we've since publicly shamed the one that caused the issues and have repaired the problem for next time.) Enjoy AA Podcast #034. The Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every week.
035: Marshwindow
The full panel gets together this week to mull over what was a pretty slow week in Android news - Joe had just put out a great review of Android Marshmallow, so that serves as our platform for the majority of the episode. Jonathan Feist, Andrew Grush, Nirave Gondhia, Joe Hindy, and host Joshua Vergara talk video games, homescreen setups, and even cars for a minute because the Marshmallow conversation just naturally veers in that direction. We know that doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but you guys should know by now that the digressions come hard and fast for the AA Podcast crew! But in light of a slow Android news week, we had to talk about the week's biggest news - the return of Windows Mobile. Though Nokia as a company is, for the most part, fully absorbed into Microsoft and virtually unrecognizable, the new Lumia devices did actually get us a little excited for a platform that simply doesn't get a lot of play compared to Android and iOS. Will we dive into the Lumias and do a few off-platform reviews? Only time will tell, but until then we have this conversation about the new announcements. The Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every week.
034: Nexus, Nexus, Nexus!
Google recently announced two new Nexus devices, is there anything more to say? Of course there is. Josh leads the entire panel through some talk about school road mayhem, a slight point of contention for Joe and Nirave. Andrew and Jonathan were a little more relaxed about it. Conversation shifts to tablets and TabTimes, ever so briefly, before we dive into the new Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. We make the obvious comparisons to other devices like the Moto X Pure and ponder why LG announced the V10 right in the mix. Although not an after thought, Google also announced the Pixel C, a large productivity tablet with keyboard cover, not exactly a game changer, or is it? Join us for this and more, and we hope you have as much fun as we did. (Even though Josh calls it episode #33 in his intro, no worries, it's still the next show.) Enjoy AA Podcast #034. The Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every week.
Podcast 033: If a Nexus leaks, will you still buy it?
What starts off as a collection of selfie stick belittling, turns into Andrew Grush, Joe Hindy and Nirave Gondhia following along as Jonathan Feist pretends to lead the show. We talk about Blackberry and their new Priv, previously known as Venice, which leads to ribbing Josh while he's not there to defend himself. Google has two new devices coming this week, the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P. We wanted to say little more on the subject, saving our thoughts for next week, but our discussion on the current leak culture took us right back to the Nexus devices. Will you be purchasing a new Nexus device, or at least holding off another purchase until you see what Google has to offer? Huawei was a recurring topic throughout the show, we all had mostly great things to say about them and their products, leaving us highly anticipating the Nexus 6P, which is also built by Huawei. I hope you have as much fun listening as we did recording. The Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every week. .
032: Y U NO TALK ON FONE
We have a full panel this week as all five hosts get together to talk Android! Joshua Vergara is joined by Joseph Hindy, Andrew Grush, Jonathan Feist, and Nirave Gondhia as they talk about actual voice conversations using smartphones (and why they might hate or still tolerate them) and the BlackBerry Venice! Both topics take up quite a bit of time as the stories and laughs keep coming. Join us for this week's Android Authority Podcast! The Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every week.
031: A Smart Styl-ish
Just days after returning from IFA, Josh gets together with Jonathan Feist and Joe Hindy to talk about the past week's news - but they are also joined by Nirave Gondhia, who got off a long and arduous journey from Berlin to London and finally to Las Vegas to make it for CTIA 2015. Before getting into his memories of IFA and how CITA was going, Josh brings up an exciting new mobile Pokemon game and the guys realize just how old (or young) they truly are. Nirave ponders a possible gambling addiction and then it is on to Apple and the Pencil, which the guys aren't completely convinced by. Join us for the go-home episode of the Android Authority Podcast! The Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every week.
030: IFA 2015 with Dom Esposito
Recurring guest Dom Esposito joins host Josh, Lanh, and Nirave for a late night podcast after a long day at IFA 2015. Without some of the big players coming to the show this time around, the crew ponders the growing smartwatch game, especially considering the lust over the Huawei Watch and the newfound buzz over the Samsung Gear S2. Though phones like the Huawei Mate S and the 4k capable Sony Xperia Z5 Premium did appear at this show, they seem to take second fiddle to a long discussion regarding the pros and cons to current smartwatch offerings. Join us for a great (albeit pretty tired) session of the Android Authority Podcast! The Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every week.
029: The S Pen doesn't go both ways
Josh leads the crew through conversations that continually devolve into childish humor, you may laugh at us, but you are sure to laugh. Andrew, Joe and Jonathan are along for the ride discussing the S Pen concerns with the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, talk about their expectations for IFA and tablets, then discuss giving technology advice that is ignored. In one of our more entertaining episodes, join us for the Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every week.
028: Marshmallow and Canadian bacon
Jonathan Feist, Andrew Grush and Joe Hindy share their thoughts on Samsung’s newest large sized phones. In this grab bag of an episode we also discuss a major Android Wear update, Project Ara, Alphabet and the official name for the next Android release, Android 6.0 Marshmallow. BlackBerry enjoys some airtime for their slide-out keyboard equipped Android phone and we dive into a potential killer of the self proclaimed ‘flagship killer’ – Lenovo may have outdone OnePlus at their own game. In the end, our conversation once again devolves into the topic of food. Spoiler alert: Canadian bacon is a lie! The Android Authority Podcast – discussing topics in Android every week.
027: Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge Big with Dom Esposito!
With another Samsung launch comes every discussion about the new devices, their merits, and their faults. Unfortunately for the brand new Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and the S6 Edge Plus (happily called the "S6 Edge Big" by our podcasters), thoughts on the new smartphones seem lean toward the faults. And in this special live episode of the Android Authority Podcast, our guys on the ground - Joshua Vergara and Lanh Nguyen - are joined by YouTube personality and reviewer Dom Esposito (@macmixing) to talk Note 5, S6 Edge Big, a little Moto X, and a bit more beyond. Join them as they converse in the wee hours of the night (something like 12:45am after the event)! The Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every week.
026: Stagefright
In a week that falls between a few relly big launches, the AA Podcast team decides to table the Galaxy Note 5 talk in lieu of more pressing, security matters. Joshua Vergara is joined by Nirave Gondhia and Jonathan Feist to talk about the latest scare in the Android world: Stagefright. As a piece of malware that can effect nearly all Android devices, the guys talk about its dangers and whether or not we are all just paranoid. They then speak about any instances in tech that they have been attacked by malware. The Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every week.
025: Moto X and OnePlus 2
From a mostly quiet garage in the middle of one of Southern California's hottest summer days, Josh gets together with Jonathan Feist, Andrew Grush, and returning guest Lanh Nguyen to talk about the big launches from the previous week. Unless you were under a rock for the past 7 days, you should know that we're talking about the Moto X and the OnePlus 2. The fellas talk about why the Moto X might be one of the best phones to come out this year, and why the OnePlus 2 may have missed that mark. Enjoy this episode of the Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every week.
024: Prime Day, Shmimeday
With Andrew Grush out with his family and Joe Hindy nursing a little illness, we have a panel including Nirave Gondhia and Jonathan Feist for this week's Android Authority Podcast! The guys talk about Prime Day and how much it pretty much sucked (but Amazon Prime is still amazing), how awesome the Huawei Nexus might be because it means more than just the device itself, and how mad Josh is about the new Galaxy A8. It's another great episode of the Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every single week.
023: Android Authority... After Hours
In a most interesting episode, Josh gets together with most of the typical panel - Joe Hindy, Andrew Grush, and Jonathan Feist - to talk about a new trend in VR. They manage to keep it from getting too uncomfortable and have a hilarious discussion about pornography in the mobile and VR spaces! From there, talk about a couple highly anticipated devices that are just a couple months away from release, and end on a quick discussion about pizza! It's hardly a dull day at the Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every week.

022: Back At It!
Sorry for the lack of episode last week, but we have been hard at work to find the best weekly schedule to bring you the Android Authority Podcast every single week! And yes, we are changing the name one last time but that doesn't mean #FDP is completely dead - listen for the first 10 minutes to hear the explanation why! But we aren't short of great discussion points this week, despite being down a couple people - the Honor brand returns, we explore how our opinions on people might change based on the phone they are using, and then we end with a discussion about a BIG debacle that occurred via Google Photos earlier this week. It's a great listen - so hit that download/play button! The Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Adnroid every week.
FDP 021: E3!
What happens when you inject an Android publication into one of the biggest gaming expos of the year? Well, they look at the future of Android gaming - while getting really distracted in the process. But that is just par for the course in this week's FDP as our guys on the floor - Josh, Lanh, Andrew, and Darcy - talk about everything from Star Wars: Battlefront, VR platforms, YouTube Gaming, and all of the mobile gaming goodness they could pack into three whole days at the Los Angeles Convention Center. It was a wonderful time at E3 and we can't wait to share with you our experiences, so hit that play button and listen to this FDP!

FDP 020: WWDC 2015, BlackBerry Android, and more!
Hot off the heels of Apple's WWDC 2015, the gang gets together for the weekly talk about all things Android! We know, that sounds a little off the rail, but with all that happened on stage at the keynote, the guys just had to react - mostly to Apple Music. But a number of different rumors and announcements appeared since and thus topics in this episode of the FDP range from a potential BlackBerry Android and a potential Galaxy S6 Edge Note! It's a jam-packed episode so hit that play button! The FDP by Android Authority - discussing topics in Android every week.
