Welcome to the first normal episode of the Android Authority Podcast in 2017! Hosted by Joshua Vergara, Jonathan Feist and David Imel ask Joe Hindy what he thought of CES 2017, enjoying his valuable outsider's perspective. I'm not sure we've had the chance to mention this yet (I'm joking!) but CES seemed to be all about autonomous cars and AI technology - but really, Amazon's Alexa was the star of the show, made available to hundreds of devices and services found on the show floor. Special: DJI & LA Auto Show

Joshua Vergara and Jonathan Feist are hanging out in LA, taking in the LA Auto Show, or at least Automobility LA, the press version of the show, and the immensely entertaining launch event for the DJI Inspire 2 and Phantom 4 Pro drones. Joined by special guest Nicole Scott (@Nicole_Scooter) the conversation started with the cars of the car show, followed by Hyperloop One and our thoughts on outdated Android tech in modern cars. Don't worry, we have Android stuff to talk about thanks to Joe and David DJI was a major event for us, reporting the new Phantom 4 Pro and Inspire 2 on our partner site, Charged.io. With full Hollywood style theatrics, and a price tag to match, these are some impressive drones. Having said that, Josh and Jonathan were invited to a press event for the DJI Mavic Pro for the day after recording this show. Writing this up after the fact, stay tuned for our Mavic Pro coverage! While half the team was at play, Joe Hindy led the charge with David Imel back at home, recording an informative take on the news of the week. 085: Chirp, chirp from the other guys

Joshua Vergara, Joe Hindy and David Imel give great insight into their personal lives on the latest episode of the Android Authority Podcast. The check in includes a remote hello from Jonathan from Japan, and Josh's experience at the LeEco event in San Francisco. Topics start off with the Google Pixel, talking value and ingress protection, Josh opens up a live Q&A session for the LG V20, a phone that was promoted as the first to sell with Android 7.0 Nougat, but isn't actually out yet. LeEco had a big event, Josh sounds like he enjoyed it for its dramatic approach, and the affordable Le Pro 3. An electric car, big screen TV and a bicycle made it to the show as well. The chat rounds out with a bit of news and some nostalgia over phones of the past. The Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every single week.

084: We're just full of bad ideas today

In an explosive episode (sorry, I had to do that) Josh and Joe are joined by returning hosts Lanh and David to talk about the week's top Android news. The Galaxy Note 7 discontinuation is obviously the biggest pieces of news and there is ample time given to the topic. However, before all that, David gives his recounting of the Oculus Connect event that he and VRSource covered just a couple weeks back. Lanh gives us his quick podcast review of the Sony Xperia XZ, the full review of which is on Android Authority; and, finally, we talk about Nougat 7.1 and the Developer Preview that basically leaves out Google Assistant. But perhaps the craziest piece of news actually came from the podcast itself - that Josh has been buying faulty USB-C cables and it actually claimed a victim. Yeah, it's that bad. Josh is inconsolable. Listen to hear more! The Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every single week. 083: Pixelation (+1 for bad pun)

Join Joshua Vergara, Jonathan Feist, Joe Hindy, and a returning Nirave Gondhia as they get together for another fun episode of the Android Authority Podcast! In this episode, it's all about the Google Pixel event where we were treated to announcements of the new Google products for 2016. Before getting into the actual devices and announcements, this week's check-in is largely a talk about Craig David, a favorite recording of artist of Josh and Nirave, who performed at the UK Google event (basically, Josh's FOMO was real). From there, however, the guys get into the big discussions - Google Wifi kicks off the event talk as Feist gives his thoughts on what could be a good solution for in-home connectivity. Google Home comes up next, and the general thoughts were that Home poses an interesting new direction for Google's robust and somewhat scary Learning Matrix. Speaking of the Learning Matrix, a tweet from a happy listener makes the guys ponder if Google's design direction for their products simply masks the fact that Google's services - like Google Assistant - are a bit too smart and somewhat terrifying. And finally the guys get into a big discussion regarding the Google Pixel phones and why they might be a little divisive for fans of Google's previous hardware endeavors - basically, it comes down to Pixel vs Nexus. See the timecodes below to see, roughly, where these topics all take place in the podcast and enjoy this episode of the Android Authority Podcast! A fairly chill conversation ensues, including words like 'reprobate' and attempts to pronounce John Legere. Topics on deck include the new ZTE Axon 7, a slick looking flagship calibre phone that has Bluetooth, Prisma, the app that makes your images look good, and talk about rumors of two Nexus phones coming soon from HTC. Sailfish and Marlin are the codenames for 5.2-inch and 5.5-inch phones with similar specs, save for display resolution, if nothing else. Thank you for joining us. 069: Podcast McPodcastface & the SonyMoto XYZ

Our best wishes go out to Josh, his family and his neighbors as they deal with a forest fire dangerously close to their homes in California. Jonathan Feist leads a wildly off topic episode while Joe Hindy, Andrew Grush and Nirave Gondhia help keep the laughs rolling. We eventually get down to the leathery hot mess that is the naming schemes of the X and Z for Sony and Motorola. The Sony Xperia X line, as well as the Lenovo Motorola Moto Z line, offer all the right specs, but you'll have to listen to find out if we are still underwhelmed with the devices or ready to drop cash on these new phones. In the final moments, Joe is allowed to address the somewhat ridiculous idea that the Android app market is in decline, come analyze some data with us. Thank you for joining us. 068: The VRSource Edition!

Coming live from E3 2016 in Los Angeles, Josh is joined by Jonathan Feist and heads of VRSource Android Grush and John Velasco (for his first ever podcast!) to talk video games and VR from the trade show floor. Well, not really, because they couldn't record among the different game vendors and displays but instead had to sit in the South Hall Lobby as the final day of the show winded down. With VR taking the spotlight at this year's E3, this episode of the podcast becomes basically a VRSource podcast, but the antics are about as #AAPodcast as it can get. John Velasco fits right into the talks as he recounts experiences with the Oculus Rift, the HTC Vive, and Playstation VR! The rest of the guys also share the fun they had escaping from the real world and embracing all kinds of reality! Head over to VRSource for all the best news on all kinds of reality - and keep it here for the Android Authority Podcast, discussing topics in Android every week.
