Irresistible Grace, What We Believe, Part 23
Rapp Report episode 230 Irresistible grace is a topic of much love and hatred. It is often confused because there are so many different understandings of the term irresistible grace. In Adam’s sin of disobedience to the revealed will and Word of God, man lost his innocence, incurred the penalty of spiritual and physical death, became subject to the wrath of God, and became inherently corrupt and utterly incapable of choosing or doing that which is acceptable to God apart from divine grace. With no recuperative powers to enable him to recover himself, man is hopelessly lost. Man’s salvation is thereby wholly of God’s grace through the redemptive work of our Lord Jesus Christ (Genesis 2:16 17; 3:1-19; John 3:36; Romans 3:23; 6:23; 1 Corinthians 2:14; Ephesians 2:1-3; 1 Timothy 2:13-14; 1 John 1:8). Because all men are in Adam, all men of all eras, Jesus Christ being the only exception, inherit a nature corrupted by Adam’s sin. All men are thus sinners by nature, by choice, and by divine declaration (Psalm 14:1-3; Jeremiah 17:9; Romans 3:9-18, 23; 5:10-12). Total Depravity, What We Believe, Part 22
Rapp Report episode 228 Total depravity is a topic of much love and hatred. It is often confused because there are so many different understandings of the term total depravity. Every person has a sin nature and is totally depraved in that they lack the proper affection and love toward God and do evil. Total depravity also refers to the complete man having been corrupted by sin, including man’s will. The inherited sin is the nature of man while the imputed sin is the reality of that nature imputed to each person from Adam. Adam and Eve are sinners because they sinned. Every person afterward sins because he possesses a sin nature. After the fall, Adam and Eve committed sin because they then had a sin nature. Man’s Sin Nature, What We Believe, Part 20
Rapp Report episode 223 The sin nature of man is often debated. Andrew and Bud continue the What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website series discussing the sin nature of mankind. Are people born in sin or are we born good? The sin nature is that reality that has been imputed directly from Adam to every individual since Adam (except Jesus Christ) (Romans 5:12-19). The whole human race exists seminally through Adam as the head. Thus, there is a seminal universality of humanity. The nature that each person, with the exception of Christ, possesses is the sinful nature passed on from Adam to each generation. By this nature, all men are guilty with race guilt through Adam. The sin nature is inherited, and each person is guilty at the point of conception. The Purpose of Man, What We Believe, Part 19
Rapp Report episode 222 The creation of man, was by God not evolution. Andrew and Bud continue the What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website series discussing the creation of mankind. The purpose of God creating mankind is twofold: to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. God’s intention in the creation of man was that man should glorify God, enjoy God’s fellowship, live his life in the will of God, and by this accomplish God’s purpose for man in the world (Isaiah 43:7; Colossians 1:16; Revelation 4:11). Creation of Man, What We Believe, Part 18
Rapp Report episode 221 The creation of man, was by God not evolution. Andrew and Bud continue the What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website series discussing the creation of mankind. They answer many questions. What does it mean that we are created in the image of God? How are humans different than angels? Man was directly and immediately created by God on the sixth day of creation. He was created in God’s image and likeness and with the appearance of age. Man was created free of sin with a rational nature, intelligence, volition, self-determination, and moral responsibility to God (Genesis 2:7, 15 25; James 3:9). Men are distinct from angels in that they are a race while angels are not. Therefore, men cannot become angels, and angels cannot become men. Men are distinct from both angels and God and will be for all eternity (1 Corinthians 6:3; Hebrews 1:14; 2:6-8; 12:22-24). Men are similar to angels in having a personality but limited more so in power and abilities. Satan, What We Believe, Part 17
Rapp Report episode 217 Satan, who is he, and what does he do? Andrew and Jim Osman continue the What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website series discussing angels & demons. Many people make the mistake of giving Satan more authority than he has. This episode will discuss the following from the statement: Satan was the highest created being that fell in an act of disobedience to God (Isaiah 14:12-14; Ezekiel 28:11-17). Satan is a real spiritual person and has intellect, will, and emotions (Isaiah 14:12-13; Matthew 4:6; Luke 22:31; 2 Corinthians 2:11; Ephesians 6:11; 1 Timothy 3:6; 2 Timothy 2:26; Revelation 12:12). Satan is, as all angels are, limited by God (Job 1:12; 2:6; 1 John 5:18). Satan does not know what a person thinks, nor is he everywhere affecting everything. Satan can only be in one place at one time. Satan is called an evil deceiver seeking to tempt, oppose, and accuse God and His children (Zechariah 3:1; Matthew 4:3, 10; John 17:15; Acts 5:3; 1 Corinthians 7:5; 1 Thessalonians 3:5; 1 John 5:18-19; Revelation 12:9; 20:2, 10). He is the god and ruler of this world, the prince of the power of the air, and the ruler of the demons (John 12:31; 2 Corinthians 4:4; Ephesians 2:2). As a serpent, he is crafty and guile and called “the red dragon” in Revelation (Genesis 3:1; 2 Corinthians 11:3; Revelation 12:3, 7, 9). Satan is God’s adversary and is called “Belial.” meaning “worthless” or “wicked” (Zechariah 3:1; Matthew 4:10; 2 Corinthians 6:15; Revelation 12:9; 20:2). Satan is not only a person but he is also active in relation to Christ, God, nations, unbelievers, believers, and the world system. Demons, What We Believe, Part 16
Rapp Report episode 216 Demons, what are they? Andrew and Jim Osman continue the What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website series discussing angels & demons. Many do not realize how their view of fallen angels affects their theology. Demons are angels that have fallen and are unholy. Fallen Angels Unholy angels are those angels that are confirmed in unholiness by a single act of disobedience that occurred between Genesis 1:31 and 3:1. The fall of the unholy angels occurs between God’s declaration that all creation was “very good” (Genesis 1:31) and the temptation of Eve by Satan (Genesis 3). These angels apparently fell at the same time that Satan fell and were at that time confirmed in a condition of fallenness. Unholy angels abode on earth or imprisonment but those on earth have access to heaven (Isaiah 14:12; Job 1:6; Jude 6). Unholy angels will be judged by redeemed people (1 Corinthians 6:3). Hell was prepared for suffering and containment for these angels and will be cast into the Lake of Fire for all eternity (Matthew 25:41; Revelation 20:13-14). Due to the organization of angels, these angels are agents of Satan (Matthew 12:26-27; Ephesians 6:11-12). While attempting to thwart the plan of God, they actually execute it (Daniel 10:10-14; Revelation 16:13-16). They may possess unsaved men (Matthew 4:24) but not believers. Holy Angels, What We Believe, Part 15
Rapp Report episode 215 Angels, what are they? Andrew and Jim Osman continue the What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website series discussing Angels. There is much confusion on this subject because of two factors. The first factor is the little amount of biblical information on the subject. The second factor is the fascination and Hollywood hype on the subject. In relation to believers, they are actively watching over and ministering to individuals and congregations (Genesis 28:12; John 1:51; 1 Kings 19:5; Psalm 91:11; Daniel 6:22; Matthew 4:11; 18:10; Luke 16:22; 1 Corinthians 11:10; 1 Timothy 5:21; Hebrews 1:14). Nowhere does the Bible indicate that there is one angel for each believer. There may even be more than one ministering to anyone believer at a time (Matthew 18:10; Luke 16:22). Their ministry is in urging unto holiness (1 Corinthians 11:10), aiding (Hebrews 1:14), answering prayers (Daniel 9:21; Acts 12:7; Revelation 5:8), observing worship (1 Timothy 5:21; 1 Corinthians 4:9; 11:10; 1 Peter 1:12), rejoicing in salvation (Luke 15; 10), and giving revelation (Acts 7:53; Galatians 3:19; Hebrews 2:2). In relation to unbelievers, these angels will be involved in the future judgment and act as the reapers at the end of the age (Matthew 13:39, 49-50; 25:31-33; Revelation 8-10). In relation to nations, these angels have a special relationship to Israel and will be active in gathering elect Israel in the Millennium (Daniel 10:21; 12:1; Matthew 24:31). Holy Angels, What We Believe, Part 14
Rapp Report episode 214 Angels, what are they? Andrew and Jim Osman continue the What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website series discussing Angels. There is much confusion on this subject because of two factors. The first factor is the little amount of biblical information on the subject. The second factor is the fascination and Hollywood hype on the subject. The What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website discussed is: Holy angels are those angels that are confirmed in holiness by a single act of obedience that occurred sometime between Genesis 1:31 and 3:1. Holy angels abode in heaven while still having access to the earth (Mark 13:32; Daniel 9:20-23). These holy angels minister to God and specifically to the incarnate Christ. They also minister to believers, unbelievers and nations. In relation to God, there are angels that worship (Isaiah 6:2-3), praise (Job 38:7; Psalm 103:20), serve (Genesis 19:12-13; Revelation 19:10; 22:8-9), and punish His enemies (2 Kings 19:35; Acts 12:23). While Christ dwelled physically on earth, angels made announcements (Luke 1:26-33; 2:8-14; Matthew 28:6), strengthening Christ (Matthew 4:11) and were present throughout His ministry (Luke 22:43; Acts 1:10). Angels, What We Believe, Part 13
Rapp Report episode 213 Angels, what are they? Andrew and Jim Osman continue the What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website series discussing Angels. There is much confusion on this subject because of two factors. The first factor is the little amount of biblical information on the subject. The second factor is the fascination and Hollywood hype on the subject. The What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website discussed is: Angels are created, not eternal, beings (Psalm 148:5); therefore, they are not to be worshiped. Each angel was individually and directly created by God as ministering spirits (Matthew 22:28-30; Hebrews 1:14). They were created before the foundation of the world (Job 38:6-7). Angels, like man, are not eternal but immortal meaning once created, they do not cease to exist. However, unlike man, angels were not created as a race, but a total number (innumerable to man) were created at one time. Men cannot become angels, and angels cannot become men. Angels are distinct from both man and God and will be for all eternity (1 Corinthians 6:3; Hebrews 1:14; 2:6-8; 12:22-24). Angels are similar to man in having a personality but limited in power and abilities. Angels were tested for obedience by a one-time confirmation of holiness or unholiness while man’s confirmation occurs at death. Angels are organized and submissive to that organization (Colossians 1:16; Ephesians 1:21; Jude 9; Revelation 12:7). How Do I Get Started with Bitcoin?
Rapp Report episode 211 How to get started with Bitcoin is the topic of this episode. Welcome to Andrew Rappaport's Rapp Report, where we provide Biblical interpretation and application! The show is a ministry of Striving for Eternity and the Christian Podcast Community. In today’s episode, host Andrew Rappaport is joined by friend and Pastor Jim Osman of Kootenai Community Church in Idaho for part two of the conversation on bitcoin started in the last episode! The hosts of the Bitcoin and the Bible podcast - Dave, Simon, and Will - join us again to discuss bitcoin, focusing today on the practical side of starting to use bitcoin. Before turning to practical advice, though, Jim asks what will keep bitcoin from inflation or from dropping in value. Will explains that people continue buying bitcoin because it's a superior form of money, and they will ultimately have the ability to consume all available bitcoin supply. This dynamic, grounded in the fact that value is subjective and based on market needs, listeners can be assured that the value of bitcoin will not go to 0. With regard to inflation, Will describes the way that bitcoin operates with a hard cap of 21 million, and how the bitcoin system is designed with a kind of self-regulation because it's in every bitcoin holder's best interest to hold others to the rules of the system. Turning to some possible concerns and responses to them, the group first considers whether or not the bitcoin cap will pose a problem. Even when the cap is reached, there will be plenty of bitcoin and sufficient divisibility to ensure global commerce can exist on a digital system. And while some people are wary of bitcoin's fluctuations in market value, the current fiat system is over-engineered to avoid volatility. Volatility, however, is a sign of life, and actually provides a reason for us to trust bitcoin! The change in the bitcoin market is rooted in the fact that the market is free and open, and so at each moment, the dollar price of bitcoin is determined by willing buyers and sellers. While the primary reason people put their money in banks is to be able to move it digitally, bitcoin facilitates this movement even better than banks; it allows for the transfer of money without bank control and with great speed. As the conversation progresses, the group considers what bitcoin mining is. At its most basic level, this mining involves grouping pending transactions into a block and finding the random number to make the block valid. The process leaves a track of work that demonstrates the history of transactions and is done with a specially purposed computer. The sort of computer required to mine (an ASIC miner) helps to bolster the security of the process, and some bitcoin users have also elected to study quantum computing, which is expected to protect bitcoin in the more technologically-advanced future. Dave, Simon, and Will encourage listeners to lean into bitcoin rather than other cryptocurrencies, and the next topic of conversation is the rationale behind this selectivity. Some cryptocurrencies are trying to be money, and others are not doing so, and in general, money wants to converge on a single best form of money. At this point, bitcoin is the predominant form of digital money; the choice cycle pushes bitcoin value up and down, and the positioning of bitcoin at the pinnacle of the cryptocurrency world gives it a lot of security. Other forms of cryptocurrency don't work well because the incentive behind them (the driver of crypto outcomes!) won't work, and some of them are even built of systems that allow the rich and powerful to rewrite the rules. Now, assuming a person is convinced to give bitcoin a shot, the glaring question still remains: How can someone get set up on bitcoin? Fortunately, there are great resources (including a Startup Guide and many others on BitcoinandtheBible.com!) to help lead the way, and though there are things to learn,

What is Bitcoin?
Rapp Report episode 210 Welcome to Andrew Rappaport's Rapp Report, where we provide Biblical interpretation and application. The show is a ministry of Striving for Eternity and the Christian Podcast Community. On today’s episode, host Andrew Rappaport is joined by friend and Pastor Jim Osman of Kootenai Community Church in Idaho. Unlike our usual episodes, we will be in discussion with another podcast from the Christian Podcast Community, Bitcoin and the Bible, to discuss the issues of money, Bitcoin and the church. Join us for part one of this two-part episode! To begin, the hosts of Bitcoin and the Bible introduce themselves and their show, the heart of which encourages Christians all around the world with the message that God has provided for us. With the great reset underway and the worldly transitions taking place, it is incumbent upon the church to put ourselves in a position to thrive going forward. Dave, Simon and Will are members of Kootenai Community Church. Most people have no concept or Biblical understanding of currency, why we have it and how we should view it. At the very beginning, God created Adam and Eve and gave them the job of tending to His garden. Thus, work is built into the human condition as a good and noble thing given by God. The fruit of our labor can be traded amongst one another. It didn’t take long for the human population to realize a medium for exchange was needed. Thus, money is a way to facilitate trade and increase the prosperity of a society. Today, Dave explains, money is borrowed into creation and is really just a claim on a debt obligation. We have now found ourselves in a situation in which the debt has spiraled out of control and we are in need of a new monetary system to reset. In a free market system, mediums of exchange must be divisible and recognizable. The value of currency differs greatly from place to place, depending on the needs of the population. Therefore, money does not have intrinsic value but is dependent on time, society, and circumstance. Money is desired due to its flexibility and allowance of other goods and services from the economy. Some Christians believe that money is inherently evil and vain. However, money is a morally neutral mechanism of storing labor. It is the greed of money that makes it evil. God refers to Abraham, who was rich in cattle, as a righteous man. Thus we are led to believe that He has given us permission to use the money he has allowed us to choose freely in a way that honors and glorifies Him. The fiat system refers to the present operating system in which the money used is a decree by the government to be used in paying taxes and as the official currency. This money, however, is based solely on debt and is moved in the ether. Already, we are living in a world in which money has been dematerialized and is issued under the promise of its future performance. Bitcoin is likened unto gold in that all of the capital and energy has been invested into it for it to be created. The concept of cryptocurrency is often a difficult one for people to understand, and Andrew breaks it down in the simplest way possible. Gold is great at storing value over time, while fiat currency is a great medium of exchange over space. Separately, they each have their own fatal flaws. The technological improvement of the fiat standard is the ability to combine the two currencies based on trust. Anyone can look at the situation and determine it is horribly dangerous. There is no interface between the digital and physical worlds. What needed to be done was to design money that exists digitally and also has digital scarcity, which nobody can control. A predefined system with rules but not rulers, which specified its monetary policy in the very beginning, makes it impossible to develop more of the currency and lets everyone monitor, would be a digital system that respects the store value of money. Rather than relying on an auditor,

The Holy Spirit, Spiritual Gifts, What We Believe, Part 12
Rapp Report episode 209 Andrew and Jim Osman continue the What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website series discussing God the Holy Spirit and the giving of spiritual gifts. The What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website discussed is: The Holy Spirit administers spiritual gifts to the church. The Holy Spirit glorifies neither Himself nor His gifts by ostentatious displays, but He does glorify Christ by implementing His work of redeeming the lost and building up believers in the holiest faith (John 16:13-14; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; 2 Corinthians 3:18). God the Holy Spirit is sovereign in the bestowing of all His gifts for the perfecting of the saints today. Speaking in tongues and the working of sign miracles in the beginning days of the church were for the purpose of pointing to and authenticating the apostles as revealers of divine truth and were never intended to be characteristic of the lives of believers (1 Corinthians 12:4-11; 13:8-10; 2 Corinthians 12:12; Ephesians 4:7-12; Hebrews 2:1-4). The Holy Spirit, What We Believe, Part 11
Rapp Report episode 207 Andrew and Jim Osman continue the What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website series discussing God the Holy Spirit. The What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website discussed is: The work of the Holy Spirit in this age began at Pentecost when He came from the Father as promised by Christ (John 14:16-17; 15:26) to initiate and complete the building of the Body of Christ, which is His church (1 Corinthians 12:13). The broad scope of His divine activity includes convicting the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; glorifying the Lord Jesus Christ; and transforming believers into the image of Christ (John 16:7-9; Acts 1:5; 2:4; Romans 8:29; 2 Corinthians 3:18; Ephesians 2:22). The Holy Spirit is the supernatural and sovereign Agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:13). The Holy Spirit also indwells, sanctifies, instructs, empowers believers for service, and seals them unto the day of redemption (Romans 8:9; 2 Corinthians 3:6; Ephesians 1:13). The Holy Spirit is the divine Teacher, who guided the apostles and prophets into all truth as they committed to writing God’s revelation, the Bible. Every believer possesses the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit from the moment of salvation, and it is the duty of all those born of the Spirit to be filled with (controlled by) the Spirit (John 16:13; Romans 8:9; Ephesians 5:18; 2 Peter 1:19-21; 1 John 2:20, 27). The Holy Spirit, What We Believe, Part 10
Rapp Report episode 205 Andrew and Jim Osman continue the What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website series discussing God the Holy Spirit. In all the divine attributes He is coequal and consubstantial with the Father and the Son (Matthew 28:19; Acts 5:3-4; 28:25-26; 1 Corinthians 12:4-6; 2 Corinthians 13:14; and Jeremiah 31:31-34 with Hebrews 10:15-17). Rapp Report episode 204 Andrew and Jim Osman continue the What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website series discussing God the Son, Jesus Christ. This is a branch of theology known as Christology. The What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website discussed is: Jesus Christ will return to receive the church, which is called His Body, unto Himself at the rapture, and returning with His church in glory, will establish His millennial kingdom on earth (Acts 1:9-11; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 20). Jesus Christ is the One through whom God will judge all mankind (John 5:22-23): a) Believers (1 Corinthians 3:10-15; 2 Corinthians 5:10) b) Living inhabitants of the earth at His glorious return (Matthew 25:31-46) c) Unbelieving dead at the Great White Throne (Revelation 20:11-15) As the Mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5), the Head of His Body the church (Ephesians 1:22; 5:23; Colossians 1:18), and the coming universal King, who will reign on the throne of David (Isaiah 9:6; Luke 1:31-33), He is the final Judge of all who fail to place their trust in Him as Lord and Savior (Matthew 25:14-46; Acts 17:30-31). Jesus Christ Provides Justification, What We Believe, Part 8
Rapp Report episode 203Andrew and Jim Osman continue the What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website series discussing God the Son, Jesus Christ. This is a branch of theology known as Christology. The What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website discussed is:On the basis of the efficacy of the death of Jesus Christ, the believing sinner is freed from the punishment, the penalty, the power, and one day the very presence of sin, and he is declared righteous, given eternal life, and adopted into the family of God (Romans 3:25; 5:8-9; 2 Corinthians 5:14-15; 1 Peter 2:24; 3:18).Our justification is made sure by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead and that He is now ascended to the right hand of the Father, where He now mediates as our Advocate and High Priest (Matthew 28:6; Luke 24:38-39; Acts 2:30-31; Romans 4:25; 8:34; Hebrews 7:25; 9:24; 1 John 2:1).In the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the grave, God confirmed the deity of His Son and gave proof that God has accepted the atoning work of Christ on the cross. Jesus’ bodily resurrection is also the guarantee of a future resurrection life for all believers (John 5:26-29; 14:19; Romans 1:4; 4:25; 6:5-10; 1 Corinthians 15:20, 23).Resources mentioned:The Resurrection and PremillennialismPremillennialism vs PostmillennialismThis podcast is a ministry of Striving for Eternity and all our resourcesListen to other podcasts on the Christian Podcast CommunitySupport Striving for EternityLeave us a reviewGive us your feedback, email us [email protected] the book What Do They BelieveGet the book What Do We BelieveSponsors:Logos Bible SoftwareMyPillow or call (800) 873-0176 and use promo SFE

Virtual Evangelism with Peter Hammond
Rapp Report episode 202 Andrew and Jim Osman interview Peter Hammond to talk about how he used virtual environments for evangelism to the lost. He started out using video games. He admits that video games can be an addiction. After he was freed from that addiction he found his way to use online games to spread the gospel. As more and more of our relationships are online and virtual and Peter found ways to use that to share the gospel. Gaming has changed. It is no longer the single-player against a computer. Now it is played online with people virtually working together talking through the game but another audience is the many people that watch people play online and hear the conversations. Video games provide great opportunities for evangelism but that was not enough for Peter. Peter and his team have now written their own game as a means of sharing the gospel. They even have in the game a Way of the Master training. They had a Muslim girl that lives in a country where the gospel is not allowed to hear the gospel. He uses the game as an apologetic tool to answer the questions that many people ask. The goal of the game is to find the Bible in a world where the teachings of the Bible have been removed from the culture. Jesus Christ the Virgin-born Incarnation, What We Believe, Part 7
Rapp Report episode 201 Andrew and Jim Osman continue the What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website series discussing God the Son, Jesus Christ. This is a branch of theology known as Christology. The What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website discussed is: Jesus Christ is virgin-born (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23,25; Luke 1:26-35); He is God incarnate (John 1:1,14); and the purpose of the incarnation was to reveal God, redeem men, and rule over God’s kingdom (Psalm 2:7-9; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:29; Philippians 2:9-11; Hebrews 7:25-26; 1 Peter 1:18,19). In the incarnation, the second person of the Trinity laid aside His right to the full prerogatives of coexistence with God, assumed the place of a Son, and took on an existence appropriate to a servant while never divesting Himself of His divine attributes (Philippians 2:5-8). Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through the shedding of His blood and sacrificial death on the cross. His death was voluntary, vicarious, substitutionary, propitiatory, and redemptive (John 10:15; Romans 3:24-25; 5:8; 1 Peter 2:24). Jesus Christ the God-Man, What We Believe, Part 6
Rapp Report episode 200 Andrew and Jim Osman continue the What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website series discussing God the Son, Jesus Christ. This is a branch of theology known as Christology. Andrew together with Jim Osman discuss the false views and beliefs people often have about the Trinity. Other doctrines believe that the Trinity is three separate Gods-- God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit. In this episode, Andrew and Jim collectively explain from the context of Modalism that God is not three distinct deities but changes forms of activity under which God manifests Himself. Thus, there is really just one God. They also talk about Calvinism-- the doctrine of salvation and the incommunicable attributes that only God possesses: omniscience, omnipotence, and omnipresence. These are one of the well-known topics that become debatable and are often used against Jesus Christ not being God and in turn, leads people to believe that Jesus Christ is created thus, he cannot possess the said attributes. Moreover, other doctrine teaches the part of the Incarnation of Jesus Christ that when Jesus became man, they believe he surrendered the prerogative of being a deity. Further down the episode, they talk about a question: Is Jesus still a man today? The What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website discussed is: Jesus Christ, the Second Person of the Trinity, possesses all the divine excellencies, and in these, He is coequal, consubstantial, and coeternal with the Father (John 10:30; 14:9). God the Father created according to His own will, through His Son, Jesus Christ, by whom all things continue in existence and in operation (John 1:3; Colossians 1:15-17; Hebrews 1:2). In the incarnation (God becoming man), Christ surrendered only the prerogatives of deity but nothing of the divine essence, either in degree or kind. In His incarnation, the eternally existing second Person of the Trinity accepted all the essential characteristics of humanity and so became the God-Man (Philippians 2:5-8; Colossians 2:9). Jesus Christ represents humanity and deity in indivisible oneness (Micah 5:2; John 5:23; 14:9-10; Colossians 2:9). What are the Dangers Critical Race Theory Poses to the Church?
Rapp Report episode 195 Part 2: What are the Dangers Critical Race Theory Poses to the Church? What is critical race theory (CRT)? It is the ideology that is behind most of the diversity and inclusivity training in school and the workplace, and these trainings are actually counterproductive because they are leading to more bias and fear. It is a lens through which to see the world (a worldview) – it shapes how you view politics, theology, and education. Critical theory sees everything as the oppressed versus the oppressor. It is deconstructing those constructs until they get down to fitting into this worldview of the oppressed versus the oppressor. Why does this matter? What’s the big deal if our kids are being taught it in schools? Isn’t inclusiveness and diversity training a good thing? What are the dangers it’s posing on the church? Are we falling for a false narrative? The language in our culture is changing, and we need to be aware of what the truth is behind it all. The church is falling for the social justice gospel. When you add anything to the gospel, you’re changing the gospel! This episode talks about critical race theory and how it is affecting the church. Wives and Submission (1 Peter 3:1)
Rapp Report episode 194 Andrew provides a detailed explanation of the passages used to explain the submission of wives. Many people have not searched the context to understand the meaning. Must wives obey their husbands in every aspect? Must wives submit to their husbands at all? Does Ephesians 5:22 and 1 Peter 3:1 teach that wives must submit to their own husbands or is there a great context that is often missed? It is important to look at the context. It is in the context of each passage that we see the truth of Scripture and it may not lead to where you think it will. Sometimes the common understanding of a passage of Scripture is not the clear meaning because some do not examine the context and see the greater context. The reality is that the two main passages used to teach wives submission to their own husbands have a greater context that is often ignored. The Scriptures teach that we are each to have submission to one another. Just as a wife is to submit to her own husband, so each husband is to submit to their wife. This lesson will help to understand the divisive issues taught in the church and explain the context to help balance the views held by many churches. God the Father, What We Believe, Part 5
Rapp Report episode 193 Andrew and Bud continue the What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website series discussing God the Father. This is a branch of theology known as Theology Proper. The What We Believe statement from the Striving for Eternity website discussed is: "God the Father, the first Person of the Trinity, orders and disposes all things according to His own purpose and grace (Psalm 145:8-9; 1 Corinthians 8:6). He is the Creator of all things (Genesis 1:1-31; Ephesians 3:9). As the only absolute and omnipotent Ruler in the universe, He is sovereign in creation, providence, and redemption (Psalm 103:19; Romans 11:36). His Fatherhood involves both His designations within the Trinity and His relationship with mankind. As Creator He is Father to all men (Ephesians 4:6), but He is spiritual Father only to believers (Romans 8:14; 2 Corinthians 6:18). He has an all-inclusive plan that He designed for His own glory in all things that come to pass (Ephesians 1:11). He continually upholds, directs, and governs all creatures and events (1 Chronicles 29:11). In His sovereignty He is neither author nor approver of sin (Habakkuk 1:13; John 8:38-47), nor does He abridge the accountability of moral, intelligent creatures (1 Peter 1:17). He has graciously chosen from eternity past those whom He would have as His own (Ephesians 1:4 6); He saves from sin all who come to Him through Jesus Christ; He adopts as His own all those who come to Him; and He becomes, upon adoption, Father to His own (John 1:12; Romans 8:15; Galatians 4:5; Hebrews 12:5-9)." Interpreting Scripture, What We Believe, Part 3
Rapp Report episode 190 Continuing on the What We Believe series, Andrew and Bud examine the subject of interpreting Scripture. The part of the What We Believe statement that Andrew and Bud examine is the following: "The only means of interpreting Scripture is a literal, grammatical, and historical interpretation which affirms the belief that the opening chapters of Genesis present creation in six literal days (Genesis 1:31; Exodus 31:17) and seeing a distinction between Israel and the church. The Bible constitutes the only infallible rule of faith and practice (Matthew 5:18; 24:35; John 10:35; 16:12-13; 17:17; 1 Corinthians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Peter 1:20-21). Whereas there may be many applications of any given passage of Scripture, there is but one true interpretation according to God, except where Scripture makes it clear that God intended a dual meaning. The meaning of Scripture is to be found as one diligently applies the literal grammatical-historical method of interpretation under the illuminating of the Holy Spirit (John 7:17; 16:12-15; 1 Corinthians 2:7-15; 1 John 2:20). It is the responsibility of believers to ascertain carefully the true intent and meaning of Scripture, recognizing that proper application is binding on all generations. Yet the truth of Scripture stands in judgment of men; never do men stand in judgment of it." What is the Inspiration of Scripture? – What We Believe, Part 2
Rapp Report episode 189 How was the Scripture inspired? What is inspiration? Andrew and Bud unpack the Striving for Eternity doctrinal statement and discuss the teachings of the Scripture. The statement discussed from What We Believe: "The Bible is inspired by God. Inspiration is that supernatural work of the Holy Spirit in which He superintended (controlled and directed) the reception (to the writers) and communication (to the hearers and the readers) of the divine message to mankind such that the product (the original writing) is verbally (every word) and plenary (completely) both inerrant (without error) and authoritative (2 Timothy 3:16). God spoke in His written Word by a process of dual authorship. The Holy Spirit so superintended the human authors that, through their individual personalities and different styles of writing, they composed and recorded God’s Word to man (2 Peter 1:20-21) without error in the whole or in the part (Matthew 5:18; 2 Timothy 3:16), thus, making the Scriptures completely and totally sufficient for life and godliness." Is the Bible Eternal – What We Believe, Part 1
Rapp Report episode 188 Is Scripture eternal? Why does it matter? This episode starts a new series and provides an overview of why studying theology is important. Andrew and Bud look at the Striving for Eternity statement on What We Believe and they start the series with The Holy Scriptures. The Scripture is revealed from God and is the authority for the Christian for faith and practice. Many Christians do not study about the Scriptures and why we value them. They do not cover the full section but address the following paragraph: "The Bible is God’s special self-revelation, which is limited in space and time and are directed to various designated individuals (2 Peter 1:21). The accepted writings that make up the Bible are the 39 Old Testament books and 27 New Testament books without any of the additional writings commonly known as the Apocrypha. The Bible provides the only inerrant and absolutely authoritative propositional knowledge of God that exists." Faith over Fear
Rapp Report episode 186 Many Christians are living in fear with anxiety. Andrew the Bud discusses what it means to fear God and how to overcome fear and anxiety. The number of Christians living with anxiety is also rising at an alarming rate. According to a study conducted by the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA), 32.4% of Christians in America are living with anxiety, which is more than double what it was just ten years ago when only 16.8% suffered from such an ailment! In today's fast-paced society, many Christians are living in fear with anxiety. In a world where success is measured by an individual's ability to keep up and do more than they were able to the day before, it can be difficult for someone of any faith tradition not to feel overwhelmed at some point or another. The number of Christians suffering from anxiety has also been increasing alarmingly over recent years; one third say that their own stress level impacts how often they attend church services on Sundays as well as who goes out into the community. There is a significant number of Christians in this world who are living with fear and anxiety. If you're wondering if it's possible for someone to be both Christian and have these types of feelings, the answer is yes! Many people - including many Christians - live their lives feeling anxious because they don't feel like themselves anymore or that they're not doing enough for others. These fears can take over our minds so much until we’re physically sick from them; however, there are ways to heal your mind as well as strengthen yourself against future attacks on your mental health. The answer is providing in Scripture. Christ is the answer. This episode will help the listener to focus on eternity. Response to Liberal Theology
Rapp Report Daily episode 185 In this episode, Andrew and Bud respond to some of the common arguments from liberal theology. The goal of liberal theology is to deconstruct the Bible using higher criticism and textual criticism. These are topics that are often taught in seminary and not in churches. However, it influences many churches because they do not understand the topics nor know the arguments against them. Two of the common arguments from liberal theology is the claimed source document of the gospels, Q, and the supposed authors of the first five books of the Bible with the JEPD theory. Liberal theology claims that there was a source document for the gospels, called 'Q'. They claim that Mark used Q to write his gospel and then Matthew and Luke used Q and Mark to embellish more. The argument is that though we do not have any evidence that Q ever existed we can conclude what Q was but looking at these passages that Matthew, Mark, and Luke have in common. However, the fact that liberal theology does not want to acknowledge is that there is no evidence that Q ever existed. It is assumed, which is a begging the question fallacy. The JEPD theory teaches that the first five books of the Bible were not written by Moses but by several authors. The goal of this is to discount the literal 24-hour 6-day creation by arguing that Genesis chapters one and two are written by two different authors. Liberal theology teaches that there was an author that used the name Jehovah and another that used the name Elohim. They claim that a third author wrote the book of Deuteronomy. The last set of authors was the priest that took these three writings and put them together into the five books of the Bible that we have today. Again the response is simple and the same, there is no evidence for this liberal theology and deconstruction. It is assumed. So, once again they are using the begging the question fallacy. Social Media Censorship and the Christian
Rapp Report episode 182 Andrew and Bud discuss the censorship of Facebook and Twitter for the Marxist administration. They go through the community standards for Facebook and the rules for Twitter and expose how they create arbitrary rules to allow them to censor content they do not like yet appeal to section 230 to say that the government cannot censor them. They want it both ways. Andrew lays out a detailed list with examples of the hypocrisy of these Big Tech giants and their censorship. This is another scary episode that exposes the government's overreach in targeting Christians. The government is working with Big Tech to spy on people illegally. As Christians, we need to know what is happening in society but that should not cause us to fear. Andrew provides a Christian response and a hope for a future at the end. The Importance of the Local Church with Steve Ham
Rapp Report episode 181 Andrew and Bud are joined by Steve Ham to talk about the importance of the local church. Steve Ham is the pastor of Hyde Park Baptist Church and used to work for Answers in Genesis with his brother Ken Ham. We will answer the question of what is the church? Why is the local church important? Why is it important for a local pastor over some celebrity pastor on the radio or tv? How is it different from a social club? The church is the regenerate people of God. Therefore, it is for Christian, not the unbeliever, and the sermon would be different. The church is a gathering of God's people therefore we cannot be the church alone in our home's watching some preacher on tv. Pastor Ham left a large international ministry to serve as a local church pastor and explains why he did that, as he sees himself as a slave of Christ to serve God. Pastor Steve loves the church because he loves Christ. Steve gets into the differences between a well-known pastor on the radio versus your local pastors. Your pastor knows you and works all week on preparing a sermon for you. The preaching on the radio did not prepare a message for you but for their congregation.
