Annual #3: The Green Goblin Unmasked
In April 2020, Dan Gvozden received a package from a “mysterious benefactor” who eventually revealed himself to be “Norman Osborn”. A mystery inside of a mystery, with too many suspects to count. But soon that mystery evolved into something that spanned the globe and threatened Dan and his wife Amy Gvozden’s marriage. After 15 months of reporting, detective Erin Ginocchio takes out everything she’s got – interviews and documents and letters – to shake it all out, and to see what sticks. Until she discovers a secret message from Dan, and he’s got a big surprise for Erin that shakes her to her core… “Annual” is a true-crime podcast produced by Dan Gvozden and Amazing Spider-Talk. We strongly advise you to start listening with episode one of the series. You can follow the clues with each episode (see below) to help us crack this very real and very much ongoing case. Can you figure out who Norman Osborn is? This episode was painstakingly edited by Rick Coste. Our theme songs were pilfered from Nick Thorburn for parodic use. Featuring the voice talents of Erin Ginocchio, Mark Ginocchio, Dan Gvozden, Amy Gvozden, Rick Coste, Wyatt Unger, Parker Rouse, and Andy Myers. If you want to discuss Spider-Man and the events of the “Annual” miniseries, we’d love to see you on our Amazing Spider-Slack community board and the #AnnualTalk channel. The Best Spider-Man Comic of the Decade (2011-2020)
Dan and Mark have been podcasting about Spider-Man for almost ten years and they’ve discussed countless comics in that time. With the start of 2021, it has now been about 10 years since the start of “Big Time”, so Dan and Mark thought it would be a fun exercise to choose the one comic that stood out to them as the “best” Spider-Man comic of that decade. Annual #2: The List
Their relationship began like a storybook high-school romance: a Stegron comic, a podcast, fighting over the value of Annuals. But unlike other kids at school, one of them was a suspected supervillain. Each of them had their secrets, but Dan Gvozden and Mark Ginocchio had come to a crossroads. Depending on how you look at it, Mark was either Dan’s podcasting ally or sending him cryptic messages in the mail. Now, it’s up to Mark’s wife to get to the bottom of this and exonerate her husband. But Mark is just the first name on “The List”. By the time Erin Ginocchio gets to the bottom of “The List”, she hopes to have figured out exactly who Norman Osborn is! “Annual” is a true-crime podcast produced by Dan Gvozden and Amazing Spider-Talk. Featuring the voice talents of Erin Ginocchio, Mark Ginocchio, Dan Gvozden, Amy Gvozden, Rick Coste, Meg Clark Elias, Wyatt Unger, Brian Roan, Parker Rouse, and Andy Myers. If you want to discuss Spider-Man and the events of the “Annual” miniseries, we’d love to see you on our Amazing Spider-Slack community board and the #AnnualTalk channel. PHYSICAL MATERIALS: The following postcards all arrived within the span of a week. Additional cards continued to pour in. The cards featured strange and different punctuation throughout. Eventually, it was determined that these were morse code. Each out spelled out a different name. The names are as follows: Erin Hadley Ginocchio (misspelled, Mark’s wife) Dan Slott (former Amazing Spider-Man writer) Kent F Heidelman (I think, someone Dan podcasted with once) Carl Oser (coworker of Dan’s) Andrew Gvozden (Dan’s brother) Laura D’Antoni (an old friend of Dan’s) Mike Gvozden (Dan’s other brother) Andy Myers (Dan’s creative partner) Brian Roan (cohost of several film podcasts with Dan) Ian Levenstein (cohost of the Comic Geek Speak podcast) Tristan Mathews (guest on Amazing Spider-Talk, Guinness Record Holder for the Largest Spider-Man collection) Parker Rouse (Dan’s former student) Ron Frenz (former Amazing Spider-Man artist, this was the clue that Dan was withholding) If the Annual podcast is to continue, I need an email from Norman Osborn (it can be anonymous) to [email protected] telling me that this is all fun and games and not to be worried. You can confirm your identity by telling me who the final name on the cards was. The post Annual #2: The List appeared first on Amazing Spider-Talk.

Denny O’Neil: Spidey’s Lost Years (Season 4, Episode 2)
THE FIRST, WORST SPIDER-MAN COMICS? With the hasty exit of Marv Wolfman as the writer of Amazing Spider-Man, Marvel had to scramble to find a replacement. So, they turned to another legendary writer in the Spider-Office: Denny O’Neil. Famous for his historic runs on Green Lantern/Green Arrow and Batman, Denny’s run of Amazing Spider-Man books are probably the most overlooked, under-printed, and forgotten issues in Spidey’s 60-year publishing history. On this week’s show, Dan and Mark will explore why it is that Denny O’Neil’s run represents Spidey’s true “Lost Years”! This episode was edited by Rick Coste, with production support from Andy Myers.
