Adventures With Jesus, Today

I’ve had thousands of hours of talks, coaching, mentoring and spiritual guidance conversations over the years and there is a KEY component that always comes up – hearing the voice of God. I know, I know… it can be a touchy question for most of us. ◼️ How do I know if it’s REALLY God’s voice I’m hearing? ◼️ Can I trust what I hear (‘cos there’s a lot riding on this decision for me)? ◼️ Can He hear me? ◼️ What do I talk to Him about? ◼️ Can I tell Him anything? Will He understand what I’m going through? And these are all totally legitimate questions that we’d all like answers to. It’s a real step of faith to believe that we can communicate with the Creator of the Universe (and that He actually wants to communicate with us too!). But it’s true, He loves to talk with and listen to YOU. “… (Name) suddenly died of a massive heart attack yesterday” The news stopped me in my tracks! “But, I just saw him not too long ago at church and he looked fine…” As I’ve been thinking about the news of my friend’s death Jesus has shown me some Truths about processing through hard things with Him (and how He comforts us when we do). We can come to Him and tell Him all the things we’re really feeling. He’s felt them all (Heb 4:15) and wants to process them with us (Heb 4:16) He is our comfort as we navigate times when we’re experiencing grief, pain, anxiety, anger, despair… He will walk through the process with us and gently see us to the other side (John 16:33) So my friend, if you are going through a hard season or a difficult event, then listen to or watch today’s podcast episode and let Jesus comfort you, process with you and walk through it with you – He loves to do so. I was at a conference one day, serving the attendees at ‘Prophetic Booths’. We created little stations of 3 chairs. Two for a couple of us who would be asking God for a word of encouragement for the 3rd person, a conference guest. I was still so new at hearing God’s voice and I was so scared I’d make a mistake, so I was really relying on my partner to know what they were doing. A man walked up to me and he looked like he lived in a homeless camp and had his one nice shirt on. His arm was broken and in a sling and his beard was long and scraggly. I was mortified! This man couldn’t possibly hear from God! “Great, now I’m going to have to get a word for me, AND from him” I complained to God. We introduced ourselves and waited for our first guest… What happened next absolutely changed my life forever! I learned a valuable lesson that day that I share in today’s podcast episode. I don’t get to hold other people to MY expectations. I don’t get to judge. I don’t get to say how you should be. Jesus was very clear - “Love the Lord your God and love your neighbor as yourself” - Mark 12:30-31 Now I am able to stand before someone and simply ask, “Lord, what do You love about this person?
