Ep 39Decolonizing Consciousness: From Music Festivals to Standing Rock w/ Sobey Wing ~ Ep 39

Welcome to the show, Sobey Wing. I left it to Sobey, by his request, to introduce himself during this show and so I will leave the same here in regards to the content of the show: "We will examine moving from complicit behaviors in systemic racism, environmental racism that could be examined and confronted with consciousness and heart-centered accountability, particularly in the above cultures. Ultimately we will look at how to center and support indigenous-led front lines that need us to stand together for the water and future generations in Standing Rock and all lands and waters threatened by corporate greed and governments." This show was the first, and likely only, live episode of the podcast. I say "only" because the video quality does not meet the standards of this show. However, the audio is fairly good, so no loss on the gems Sobey offers us in this one. Ep 36The Politics Of Ayahuasca w/ Daniel Waterman ~ Ep 36

E

I am happy to introduce, Daniel Waterman. He is a philosopher, artist, writer, and Ayahuasca provider based in the Netherlands. He is also the author of Entheogens, Society & Law. Daniel and I met up in the Netherlands to record this conversation in his living room. The recording taps into the conversation just as Daniel begins to speak about the implications of a major turning point in his journey with Ayahuasca just after 9/11 terrorist attacks in 2001. Daniel carries the conversation in poignant and poetic forms from there as we touch on the larger context around his book Entheogens, Society & Law, death and rebirth, religious morals and ethics and their place in law, DMT entities and 'Meaning', E-Prime, and what it means to find relevant questions. This is a beautiful journey with a very well-spoken and insightful man who has a lot to offer us. Enjoy. Ep 34The Curious Puzzle of 'Psychedelic Integration' w/ Jef Baker ~ Ep 34

Another episode of ATTMind Radio has come to fruit and I am happy to announce the guest is Jef Baker. From his bio: Jef is a Cultural Studies and Communications graduate from Southern Cross University. His thesis 'A Thread in the Vine-The Deep Ecology of Contemporary Ayahuasca Discourse' played an important role in his rediscovering the plant medicine path. Jef's research interests are now centred on exploring the ritual aspects of the psychedelic experience and how entheogenic plants inform people's notions of self, agency, identity and community in postmodernity. A particular focus is how the integration process is critical in bringing about pragmatic change at the personal, cultural and social levels. Jef Baker and I initially met online and when I was blessed with the opportunity to be in Sydney, Australia to give a talk for the Sydney Spore, he and I met up for falafel and conversation. Starting with a discussion around the underlying themes and conflicts within the larger online Ayahuasca discourse, we quickly transition into discussing the somewhat elusive puzzle of what it means to 'integrate' one's psychedelic experiences. In particular, we discuss the role of community engagement and the difference between a change in perspective and a change in behavior. Ep 33Stoned Cyborg Theory w/ Sebastian Job ~ Ep 33

While touring Australia, I had the opportunity to sit down with Sebastian Job, Ph.D. Him and I originally met in 2014 through Rak Razam while we are all in Peru to study and work with the plant traditions down there. He joins us to talk about his path from studying the psychology of racist Russian nationalists to the sociopolitical significance of entheogens. We discuss his personal journey with plant dietas, entheogens and the potential they hold as allies in advancing our local and global sociopolitical context, and his advancement of Terrence's McKenna's Stoned Ape Theory, which he calls Stoned Cyborg Theory (yes it is as awesome as it sounds, however not nearly as far out as you'd think). It was a gift to have some a well read and articulate guest to the show and I'm sure you will enjoy this one. Ep 32So You Want To Be Enlightened? w/ Martin Ball ~ Ep 32

So you want to be enlightened? Well, here are 17 questions and answers about enlightenment from the professor, author, and host of The Entheogenic Evolution, Martin Ball Ph.D. Unlike other episodes of the podcast, this is not an interview between Martin and I. It is a reading of one of his essays. It was initially released on his podcast a few years ago, which is where I first heard it. Unfortunately, when I tried to find it in order to share it with some friends, I found it out it had been taken down. I felt this an important piece of work and thus messaged Martin and was granted his permission to release it through ATTMind Radio. It offers some highly relevant, albeit tough to swallow, information for people in spiritual culture. I was also given a bunch of Martin's artwork to play within the video. Although my video editing skills are amateur at best, his art is fresh. Enjoy the journey. Ep 31Harm Reduction: Theories & Practicalities | Paul Brooks ~ ATTMind 31

The somewhat painful emergence out of the "Just Say No" fallacy of the Nancy Reagan DARE moment is underway at the cutting edge of festival and nightlife culture. In its place, Harm Reduction has come to the forefront as the next wave of drug education. But more than just drug education, Harm Reduction is a public health philosophy that basically says "people are gonna do risky things, might as well give them real, evidence-based information to at least make informed choices, so as to minimize risk". On this episode of ATTMind Radio, we feature Paul Brooks. He is a journalist and founding member of Calgary Party Safe, a not-for-profit harm reduction organization. He is also manager of a popular downtown club in Calgary, Alberta, Communication Director for Bass Coast Music Festival, and a super great guy. Ep 26A Crash Course In Emotional Intelligence w/ Douglas Tataryn Ph.D. ~ Ep 26

Douglas Tataryn is a clinical psychologist whose Bio-Emotive Framework brings us to the core of Emotional Intelligence. What is the Bio-Emotive Framework? It is an approach to emotional intelligence that enables us the release of emotional repression and the healing of past traumas. It gives us the tools to not only identify and delineate the core feelings directing our behaviors, but also an understanding of what is standing in the way of a happy, fully-embodied life. We talk about the difference between emotions and feelings; the effect past experiences have in manipulating our view of the world in the present; the rampant condition of 'cultural alexithymia', how to connect, understand and release feelings that aren't serving you; and the vital role body awareness plays in our emotional intelligence. Ep 24Psilocybin Mushroom Ceremonies In Mexico w/ Oliver Quintanilla ~ Ep 24

In this episode of ATTMind Radio, we welcome Oliver Quintanilla, director of the documentary Little Saints. The tagline for his movie is "eat a mushroom, talk to God", so you can probably assume that the content of this episode will be interesting, to say the least. His film was truly one of the most vulnerable documentaries on psychedelics I have seen (and I've seen a lot). It was great to take a peak at the state of ceremonial use of psilocybin in contemporary Mexico. However, I wasn't prepared for was the potency of Catholicism that is present within it! It was great to pick Oliver's brain about the evolution of psilocybin's role in religious ceremonies in Mexico over the last few hundred years, the connection between "spiritual healing" and physical healing, why he made this movie, and what effect he has seen it produce throughout its screening tour. And of course, we talk about how he got into psilocybin and the role it played in his life growing up in Mexico. Author and film producer Rak Razam is a special guest for a special show this week. This is not an interview but a conversation recorded between the two of us while we were both in the Peruvian Amazon on a plant 'dieta' retreat at Dios Ayahuasca Sanciones. This episode, (recorded September 17, 2014 in Peru) is admittedly one of far-out ideas, speculation, and heavy vernacular. From Terence McKenna as a pattern of potential consciousness analogs to The Christ to navigating the experience of entities in altered states, to the fundamental nature of reality as a play of archetypal patterns in divine consciousness, this is an interesting conversation. Enjoy. Full Show Notes: http://bit.ly/ATTMindRadioEp6 Support The Podcast PayPal Donation Patreon Other Options (including bitcoin)
