YIKES! Did I accidentally host an Anti-Semite? ~ ATTMind 86:5

So, I recently got an email from a listener of the show regarding a recent episode of the podcast featuring Bernhard Guenther. The emails directed me to a couple of essays off his website from 2013/14 that the listener claimed had anti-Semitic views and propagated holocaust denial and wondered if I knew about it and what I would do about it. This video is ultimately what I did about it. ***** To read the full email transcripts mentioned in this video and/or read the essays in question, head to: https://www.jameswjesso.com/did-i-accidentally-host-an-anti-semitic

Ep 86Altered States Of Entrapment | Bernhard Guenther ~ ATTMind 86

Bernhard Guenther joins us on Adventures Through The Mind to talk about the 'topic of all topics', the hyperdimensional ecology of entities that influence human life. Furthermore, he takes a deep look at the actual legitimacy of psychedelic 'healing', and its potential dangers insofar as false dawn syndrome, spiritual bypassing, and entity attachment or possession. Despite how far out these topics may seem, I don't doubt you will find some deeply grounded and practical perspective in this interview, especially in regards to the modern ayahuasca-healing movements ~~~ To read the full blog entry for this episode and/or watch this episode in video: http://bit.ly/ATTMind86 ***An important Update regarding problematic claim made against Guenther*** ------------------------------------- SUPPORT THE SHOW 🙏🍄😍 ▵ Support On Patreon ▵ Donate via PayPal ▵ Donate via Crypto ▵ Buy Some Merch EPISODE BREAKDOWN ------------------------ Bernhard's journey into and out of deep psychedelic work False Dawn Syndrome and spiritual bypassing The role and limitation of psychedelics in the path to enlightenment confusing shamanism as being fundamentally related to medicine plants the 'topic of all topics' - spiritual entities hyperdimensional warfare and ayahuasca Has ayahuasca been hijacked by evil forces? Ep 81Psychedelic Feminism | Zoe Helene ~ ATTMind 81

E

Zoe Helene of Cosmic Sister comes on the show to talk about Psychedelic Feminism "The ultimate goal of psychedelic feminism is to promote rapid (cultural) evolution from within—starting with women. Females make up half the human population. We know it's way past time we stepped up and took our share of the decision-making power—and yet we haven't. Why is that? What are the "whys?" and what can we do to work through them? My work with women and psychedelics is about exploring those complex, multifaceted, interconnected "whys?" with sacred plants and fungi, our evolutionary allies from the natural world." – Zoe Helene Full Episode Breakdown Below ------------------- THIS EPISODE WAS SPONSORED BY THE SPIRIT PLANT MEDICINE CONFERENCE, NOV. 2-4TH VANCOUVER, BC, CANADA. Ep 78Anti-Aging, BPC-157, and Regenerating The Damaged Body | Patrick Kroupa ~ ATTMind 78

Well, this interview is not what you may assume. It stands out in the repertoire of podcasts that have come before and are likely to go from here. That is because it isn't an interview at all, it's merely a conversation that happened off-the-cuff and just so happened to be recorded. I am releasing it because despite the diffused and tangential nature of the thing, it was fun and informative and because the guest, Patrick Kroupa is a man with much to offer, a formal interview and otherwise. Patrick Kroupa (also known as Lord Digital, born January 20, 1969) is an American writer, hacker and activist. Kroupa was a member of the legendary Legion of Doom and Cult of the Dead Cow hacker groups and co-founded MindVox in 1991, with Bruce Fancher. He was a heroin addict from age 14 to 30 and got clean through the use of the hallucinogenic drug ibogaine. Ep 77Beyond The Tryptamine Palace | James Oroc ~ ATTMind 77

Journalist, photographer, and artist James Oroc was born in the small South Pacific nation of Aotearoa. Since 1998 he has been pursuing and reporting on the cutting edge of extreme sports in more than 40 countries around the globe, his work appearing in magazines, films, and on MTV Sports. He has been a member of the Burning Man community since 1999, and he is also involved in the documentation and advancement of psychedelic culture as one of the first people to ever publically discuss the philosophical and metaphysical implication of 5-MeO-DMT. His first book, Tryptamine Palace, is a quintessential read for those interested in psychedelic philosophy. It presents his theories on reality, God, quantum mechanics and 5-MeO-DMT that are present in Tryptamine Palace. In this interview, we scratch the surface of those theories but advance beyond the Tryptamine Palace and explore the topics of his most recent book, The New Psychedelic Revolution -- the rich history of visionary art, modern festival culture, the rising popularity of 5-MeO-DMT, and his psychedelic philosophies on the nature of mind. Ep 76LSD and The New Science Of Brainwave Harmonics | Selen Atasoy, PhD ~ ATTMind 76

Selen Atasoy PhD and her team have developed a new model for interpreting fMRI (functional magnetic resonance imaging) data based on the mathematics of harmonic waves a phenomenon ubiquitous in nature. Essentially, they have developed a way to 'decompose' brain states in the same vein as how we can decompose a musical piece down to its individual notes. They call is connectome-harmonic decomposition and have applied this approach to the fMRI data of the brain on LSD. -------------------------------------- 🌵🍄🌵🍄 Learn more about The Spirit Plant Medicine Conference. Can we, theoretically, recreate psychedelic states with light and sound? Or recreate psychedelic brain-state harmonics into music? Can harmonic frequencies at the basis of reality be the primary influence behind the morphogenesis of flora and fauna? Can the standing waves and frequencies of physical environments influence subjective brain states through brainwave entrainment?

Ep 75The Archetypal Wounding Of Men | James Hollis PhD ~ ATTMind 75

If we want to build a better world, one that is free of the power complexes that subjugate others, it behoves us to address the root of those power complexes. In particular regards to the patriarchy, if we fail to see both the function and the origins of the patriarchy system in the psyche of man, we worsen it at best and, at worst, become power-obsessed oppressors ourselves. The deep wounding of men by way of a toxic society is at the root of this interview with James Hollis PhD., whose ideas gave me stability in myself as I came to grapple with the pain, shame, and "quiet desperation" I have been carrying in my own life as a man. Ep 74IN UTERO: Epigenetics, Unconscious Memories, and The Womb | Stephen Gyllenhaal ~ ATTMind 74

Stephen Gyllenhaal is an award-winning film and television director, writer and producer. His producing credits include the documentary IN UTERO, "a cinematic rumination on life in the womb and its lasting impact on human development, human behaviour, and the state of the world. Tapping into cultural myths, popular movies, and technological trends, the film demonstrates how our experiences in utero – particularly traumatic events – preoccupy us throughout our lives, impacting our decisions and shaping society." [source] Stephen takes us on a poignant exploration of the topics discussed in the film he produced with his wife Kathleen, IN UTERO. We talk about the psychological and epigenetic impact of early life and uterine environment, as well as the means by which we can unravel the negative impact of our past into profoundly positive potentials for well-being in our lives today. Ep 71Occult Magic And The Transformation Of The Self | Carl Abrahamsson ~ ATTMind 70

Magico-anthropologist and author Carl Abrahamsson is on the show to both expand and deconstruct occult magic and make it accessible to the modern world. Of course, occult magic is a massive topic with many winding, cryptic avenues and dark alleys to traverse. The topic has much more potential than what can be explored in a seventy-five-minute conversation. So, in relevance to the themes of ATTMind we venture into the world of occult magic with a compass pointing towards a Jungian psychological approach and the potentials of magic for personal transformation and individualization. (That said, we don't shy away from the romance of all that hocus-pocus stuff, too.) Ep 69The Science Of Brain Change: Neuroplasticity and Altered Traits | Rick Hanson Ph.D. ~ ATTMind 69

A central topic of this podcast is our capacity to change our minds. I don't mean superficially – "Oh, actually yeah let's go see that movie instead." I mean a more fundamental change, our faculty for shifting our very sense of self and perception of the world around us. This type of change is not just an ethereal alteration of mental processes, but an actual redesigning of neural architecture. Our capacity to create such fundamental changes is due to our brain's ability to redesign its structure, lay new synaptic connections, which is called neuroplasticity. [This episode was originally released as "The Neurobiology Of Altered Traits"] The guest for this episode of the podcast is here to tell us how we can change our brains to change our lives and why it works. Welcome to Adventures Through The Mind, world renown neuroplasticity expert, Dr Rick Hanson. Rick Hanson is a psychologist, Senior Fellow of the Greater Good Science Center at UC Berkeley, and New York Times best-selling author. His books are available in 26 languages and include Hardwiring Happiness, Buddha's Brain, Just One Thing, and Mother Nurture. He's been an invited speaker at NASA, Oxford, Stanford, Harvard, and other major universities, and taught in meditation centres worldwide. His work has been featured on the BBC, CBS, and NPR, and now he is here with us on Adventures Through The Mind. Ep 68The Great Shamanic Debate | James Kent vs. Julian Palmer ~ ATTMind 68

E

Have you ever experienced a psychedelic encounter with a plant spirit or an entity? Have you ever experienced a spirit realm or being healed by a shaman? Have you ever felt as though you invoked some type of divination or noetic insight while on psychedelics? Have you ever wondered if any of that was real or just merely a hallucination? The increasing popularity of using psychedelic substances within so-called shamanic ceremonies has introduced ideas and beliefs into the modern world that push conceptual limits of the rational mind. The rise of plant shamanism is a cultural force to be reckoned with and that which we encounter with shamanism feels urgent and real. Yet, however real the experiences with a shamanic encounter may feel, the question still remains: how real is it, really? I asked Julian Plamer and James Kent to come on the show to debate on this question: "What do you believe is the fundamental nature of that which arises within a psychedelic experiences, in particular regards to what is often called The Shamanic paradigm, including the existence of a spirit realm, encounters with plant spirits or entities and the capacity to invoke healing or divination within a psychedelic experiences by way of this paradigm?" It's a juicy one. Enjoy *** Support On Patreon! Dennis Jon McKenna is an American ethnopharmacologist, research pharmacognosist, lecturer and author. He is the brother of well-known psychedelics proponent Terence McKenna and is founding board member and the director of ethnopharmacology at the Heffter Research Institute, a non-profit organization concerned with the investigation of the potential therapeutic uses of psychedelic medicines. He is also one of the founding contributors to the modern wave of ayahuasca research in particular and psychedelic research in general. In fact, the book Magic Mushrooms grower's guide, which he co-authored with his brother Terence in the 70s, presented the first reliable method for cultivating psilocybin mushrooms at home. Ep 65DMT and the Mainstreaming of Psychedelics w/ Rick Strassman MD ~ Ep. 65

On today's episode, we feature the author of DMT: The Spirit Molecule, Rick Strassman MD. He is a medical doctor specialised in psychiatry with a fellowship in clinical psychopharmacology research. His foundational work with DMT in the 90s was the first human-trial psychedelic research to be done in the two decades following the Controlled Substances Act of 1971. It was the clinical observations and participant reports during those trails that formed his book mentioned above, and the hit documentary by the same name. ... Support My Work On Patreon: http://www.patreon.com/jameswjesso ... Rick continued his investigation into the significance of DMT over the years with a particular focus on endogenous DMT (made within the body) and its role in prophetic states, as well as the progression of psychedelic research in general since then. His second major book on the topic is called DMT and the Soul of Prophecy, in which he explores the relationship between endogenous DMT and prophetic states as they are reported in the Hebrew Bible. Recently, Rick has been releasing a series of blogs on the mainstreaming of psychedelics and the problematic themes he sees emerging in the process. We have him on the show for this episode to touch on how he feels about the impact his work with DMT has had on psychedelic research and the psychedelic subculture. Ep 64A Police Officer's Perspective on Drug Prohibition w/ Maj. Michael Hilliard

Michael Hilliard began his 27-year policing career in 1975 as a patrolman in an economically depressed neighborhood in East Baltimore. He served as an internal affairs detective where he coordinated Baltimore youth programs and led an undercover squad that investigated violent crimes and low-to mid-level drug crimes. He is on the show as a representative of the Law Enforcement Action Partnership, or LEAP. They are a nonprofit organization "composed of police and other criminal justice professionals dedicated to educating the public about the harms of drug prohibition", advocating "for solutions across a broader range of drug policy and criminal justice issues"[source]. LEAP wants to end the war on drugs, and Maj. Michael Hilliard is on the show to talk about why. During the interview, we speak on more than just the issues around drug policy, prohibition, and what brought Maj. Hilliard to his current advocacy against the drug war. We also speak of the problematic image police represent as agents of said drug policy, as well as issues of abuse of power, following unethical orders, and being seen as predators by the people they have sworn to protect. *** See the full show notes and my blog entry on this episode: http://bit.ly/ATTMind64 *** Episode Breakdown Why Hilliard became a police officer. Ep 63Integrating Ayahuasca (and "her" voice in your head) w/ Rachel Harris Ph.D. ~ Ep. 63

What does ayahuasca integration mean and how do we do it? This is a question our guest for this episode, Rachel Harris Ph.D., has been exploring intensely though research, clinical practice, and her own direct experiences. Rachel Harris, PhD, although retired now, was a practising psychotherapist for 35 years. She received a National Institutes of Health New Investigator's Award, has published more than forty scientific studies in peer-reviewed journals, and has worked as a psychological consultant to Fortune 500 companies and the United Nations. She is also the author of the recent book Listening to Ayahuasca. She is on the show to talk about her research with ayahuasca and what integration means, however, a very interesting tangent-at-depth emerged during the conversation between her and I: hearing voices, in particular hearing the voice of ayahuasca in your head as though it were an entity of external agency and intelligence, during and after the ceremony. To say that this is an intellectually dicey topic in the realms of conventional psychiatry and psychology, might be an understatement, but include in that fact that Rachel herself proposes to hear this voice and it was what guided her along her groundbreaking research and we have thoroughly entered the medical and academic fringe. I very much enjoyed this connection with Rachel Harris and trust that you will too. Thanks for listening. Ep 62The Benefits Of Marijuana w/ Joan Bello ~ Ep. 62

Joan Bello is the author of The Benefits of Marijuana: Physical, Psychological and Spiritual. She has been writing on cannabis since before the internet; since getting information meant driving from library to library hunting the stacks; since any mention of cannabis in public might have meant federal investigations and jail time. It was during the height of the Drug War that she published this book; when the knowledge was forbidden, and she has continued to advocate for it since. Her perspective on the benefits of marijuana was an outgrowth of her training at the Himalayan Institute under the tutelage of Swami Rama, who she describes as an advanced Tantric Master. Ep 61Drugs In The Bible and The Shamanic Origins Of Christianity w/ Reverend Danny Nemu ~ Ep. 61

There are drugs in the bible and the most high were getting really high on 'em. ... So what if I were to tell you that the ancient Israelites upon which these the religions are based were a cult of desert pagans following the wisdom of shamans who used plant-based concoctions in hallucinogenic rituals to induce altered states of consciousness; and that the very structure of those religions today are based on clandestine distortion of the original teachings in order to disconnect the populous from direct connection to the divine in order to establish and maintain sociopolitical control? That is what the guest for this episode of Adventures Through The Mind, Reverend Danny Nemu, is here present a case for. *** See bit.ly/ATTMind61 for full show notes and reference links *** Episode Breakdown What drugs are in the bible and where you can find them. Aphrodisiacs and sexual promiscuity in the bible. The different names (and personalities) of God. The presence of DMT-containing Acacia across the folklore of ancient Israelites and the Egyptians. A breakdown of different psychoactive concoctions in the bible and their pharmacological effect, including: The Holy Anointing Oil. Manna. The Showbread. The incense used in the holy tabernacle. The origins of The Old Testament and the modern bible. How and why the biblical texts have been clandestinely modified. The anarchistic beginnings of Christianity and how the Israelites became monotheistic (they weren't originally). The ontological necessity of the physical resurrection of Christ for maintaining political and societal control hierarchy within Christianity. Ep 60Intimacy, Iboga, and Heroin Addiction w/ E. Bast & Chor Boogie ~ Ep. 60

Many people struggle with addiction their whole lives. Their story one of (hu)man vs. addiction, their story often ending with addiction the victor. But what if that is not the way the story needs to be written? What if there is a way out that helps us suffering to reach into the root of our pain and find our love for life again? The guests for this episode of the podcast, Elizabeth Bast and Chor Boogie, believe true freedom from addiction is possible with an ancient African root bark called Iboga. They believe this not only because of the growing scientific research and the countless anecdotes about iboga's potential available on the internet but because it is also their lived experience. Elizebeth and Chor join us on the show to talk about heroin addiction, how it impacted their intimate relationship, the redemption they found in Iboga, and what iboga taught them about what it takes to heal the pain at the root of addiction in oneself and the hearts of those we love. ***** See Full Show Notes and all related links: http://bit.ly/ATTMind60 Connect with me for a Skype call: http://www.jameswjesso.com/contact/je... Ep 48Ultra-High Dose Psilocybin and The Future Humanity w/ Kilindi Iyi ~ Ep. 48

The late, great Terence McKenna is famous for his suggestion to eat five dried grams of psilocybin mushrooms in silent darkness. Thanks to Terence five dried grams has been a milestone of depth and commitment to psychonauts around the world, an apex of intensity. Then Kilindi Iyi comes along and dismantles the concept of five dried grams as an apex of psilocybin intensity when he begins to speak publicly about his regular use of 30+ dried grams of psilocybin mushrooms.... 30 dried grams of psilocybin mushrooms, an ultra-high dose psilocybin experience. Our guest for this episode, Kilindi Iyi is a martial arts expert, a (medicinal and culinary) mushrooms grower, and a psychonaut challenging the status quo of the psychedelic community with an outspoken, brazen courage. He joins us on the show to discuss his experiences with these ultra-high dose psilocybin experiences, what brought him to explore so deeply, what it's like to take such a high dose, and what he has gleaned from those experiences about the nature of reality. Most importantly, we talk about what it means to become explorers of the mind by taking entheogens at any dose. Although much of what we talk about is offers direct insight and wisdom to anyone choosing to explore entheogens, some of it, much like back in Ep.6 with Rak Razam, goes wildly far-out; 30+ dried grams far-out. Ep 47Bop Apocalypse: Jazz, Race, The Beats & Drugs w/ Martin Torgoff ~ Ep.47

E

If you had to point to any singular example of institutionalized racial prejudice in America, the so-called drug war is a shining example. The prohibition of drugs in the United States, and subsequently much of the Western world, has its origins in racism, classism, and xenophobia (as well as the socio-economic control of industry, but that's a different story for a different time). The war on drugs was a classist and racist war on people of color (the origin of the Marijuana Tax Act in 1937) and those representing a threat the governmental powers that be, such as hippies and anti-war activists (Nixon's launch of the war on drugs in 1971). If we are to move forward into the better world, one that heals the wounds rotting at the core of the rise of Trump, and begin to understand the systemic foundations of racism in the United States, we need to understand the history. This episode, with Martin Torgoff, author of Bop Apocalypse: Jazz, Race, The Beats, and Drugs, offers a piece of that history. In particular, it follows the history of drug prohibition and institutionalized racism along the coupled history of Jazz music from the early 20s, told through the stories of the musicians, political leaders, and poets whose lives are inseparable from that history. Ep 45Dying To Know: The Story Of Tim Leary and Ram Dass w/ Gay Dillingham ~ Ep.45

We welcome Gay Dillingham to the April full moon edition of ATTMind Radio. Gay is an award-winning filmmaker and the director of Dying To Know: Timothy Leary and Ram Das. We have her on the show to talk about Timothy Leary and Richard Alpert (no known as Baba Ram Dass), who they were on the surface of history but also who they were as people, friends, and members of a larger community. For full show notes, head to http://bit.ly/ATTMindRadioEp45 We also talk about the process of making this film and why she felt telling the story of these two men was so important that she was willing to invest 19 years of her life into making it. (Also, how it was she got Robert Redford to narrate this film about counter-cultural heroes!) Personally, watching this film was perspective altering for me, which I talk about in the episode. Having been exposed to an intimate revealing of people whom I had only known as the legends that had come before me, was deeply meaningful. If you do, or don't know who these men are it's still a worthy listen, as, like Gay proclaims in the film, "whether you know them or not, chances are they changed your life". Ep 44Prohibition Fatalities and MDMA Complexities w/ Emanuel Sferios ~ Ep 44

Emanuel Sferios is an activist, educator and harm reduction advocate. Founding DanceSafe in 1998 and starting the first laboratory pill analysis program for ecstasy users that same year, Emanuel pioneered MDMA harm reduction services in the United States. He is currently producing a documentary on MDMA highlighting its use in therapy as well as harm reduction as a practical, rational alternative to three decades of failed efforts at prohibition. For the March new moon episode of Adventures Through The Mind Radio, Emanuel and I sat down to talk about MDMA: The Movie. However, our conversation rolled on rather quickly into unexpected waters as we discussed prohibition and the war on drugs. Increasingly more so it has become obvious that the so-called Drug War is only making things worse and that prohibition may very well be the cause of the fatal drug problems we see in the modern world. It was great to get Emanual's thoughts on this as a 20-year advocate for harm reduction. We also talk about: the early 90s rave scene, the use of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for the resolution of PTSD, the early days of the DanceSafe harm reduction movement, the fatal consequences of prohibition functional heroin dependence, MDMA safety: tips and practices, Pharmacological hacks for ending MDMA hangover, mainstream media's manipulation of drug reporting to manufacture consent for a failing prohibition program AND MORE! Ep 43Faces of MDMA w/ Melanie & Thomas Heath ~ Ep 43

MDMA is on the front lines of the psychedelic renaissance, shining a light of hope into the lives of those suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). On this episode, we feature Melanie and Thomas Heath. These two incredible humans have been putting themselves in the public eye to speak about the therapeutic power of MDMA. They come onto the show to share their experiences working with MDMA to assist in the treatment (and even resolution) of deeply debilitating PTSD. This episode goes deep into their personal experiences with PTSD, mental illness, and what pushed them to break the hard social conventions they were raised in and "used illegal drugs". In deep transparency and vulnerability, these two incredible people are standing outside the psychedelic closet and speaking openly about how MDMA changed their lives for the better. ***A word of warning: the audio in this episode is rough, but I choose to release it anyways as the content is so beautiful and honest that I didn't want to loose it. Thanks for your forgiveness in advance. Full Show Notes: http://bit.ly/ATTMindRadioEp43 Support The Podcast PayPal Donation Patreon Other Options (including bitcoin)
