S1 Ep 14Episode 14 - Amelia Bright
In this episode I get a chance to sit down with Amelia Bright, Executive Director of the London Estate for Grosvenor UK&I. Responsible for assets of £5bn in Mayfair and Belgravia. Amelia's career to the passerby may seem straightforward in that she has been with the same employer for 13 years. However within that time she has taken responsibility for asset management, investment, development and placemaking; in the UK and US. For me she really embodied the character of an accelerator, someone who was very conscious of her own development and a drive to keep learning and to be challenged. She wouldn't admit it but all the more impressive to have created and seized these opportunities within a single employer in such a short period of time. He has, as an architect, questioned every aspect of a building and how its put together and at times gone well beyond what was expected of him to achieve the impossible. We talk about the importance of seizing those opportunities, having an open mind and remaining humble. I ask Brian what it meant to work for the huge personalities of Tony Pidgley, Killian Hurley and Sir George Icaobescu. You can make up your own mind on why Brian has succeeded but for me it was his drive, determination and eagerness to put himself in those uneasy situations and gain the energy from those events to succeed.Contact: [email protected]://www.linkedin.com/in/nickcarman Hosted on Acast. He has a true passion for what he does and an incredible engine and confidence that he was on the right path with Kings Cross well before others saw the same vision. What I found fascinating was talking to Roger he has reached some dizzy heights in terms of titles and responsibilities but had no problem sharing and ultimately relinquishing these titles as he concentrated on his passions: the projects and the impact these have on the people in them.Contact: [email protected]://www.linkedin.com/in/nickcarman Hosted on Acast. S1 Ep 1Episode 1 - Marc Vlessing
In this episode with Marc Vlessing, we listen to how he has started careers in three separate sectors. I believe Marc could have been successful in whatever industry he choose, but for the past 16 years his chosen career has been as CEO for Pocket Living in the starter home market. I thought my favourite lesson I learnt from Marc was the importance of PURPOSE he speaks very passionately about these earlier careers and demonstrating real chameleon talents to adapt yet ultimately he left them behind, yet with pocket he experienced slower growth of this business compared to his earlier achievements, arguably he has faced much steeper hurdles yet what made him stick at it AND I believe it was because he has found his PURPOSE. And for anyone looking for a key of how to accelerate their careers do you know what your PURPOSE IS?Contact: [email protected]://www.linkedin.com/in/nickcarman Hosted on Acast.
