Ep 102102. Peter Cook should have been ICE-d out ... Now he is BREAKING THE CASTLE.

This is an incredible story. In fact, it is a story of despair, desperation and ultimate triumph. It is a story of how one man utilized a life destroying existence, changed its meaning and turned it into 'golden possibility'. Peter Cook by his own admission scarcely believes he is alive to play out his life story in the groundbreaking theatre phenomena called BREAKING THE CASTLE. It is the enactment of Peter's life on stage played by one man ... Peter Cook. In truth, ICE addiction that defined Peter's life just 8 years ago should have won the battle. It had its chance and had it not been for the love of a best mate, who privately paid for Peter's rehab in Thailand, Peter's life would have been a sad waste.Instead, Peter faced his demons, climbed his way out of a bottomless pit and now gives hope to those who also need a reason to re-engineer their life.Peter's 90-minute one-man show moves from a struggling home life to alcohol filled evenings at just 14 years of age, through addiction to a Thailand Rehabilitation Centre with Peter playing 17 different characters and voices. It is a masterful performance first receiving strong recognition in London and now attracting full audiences around Australia. Word is that a movie is also in the offering. In this interview, Peter tells all. It is sometimes dark, occasionally hopeful but in the end, it is glorious. As Peter says, "To see the light it is almost necessary to have lived in the depths of chaos".You will find this episode riveting. More importantly, for those live in the East Coast of Australia seeing BREAKING THE CASTLE is compulsory, and if you do, don't forget to see Peter after the show and let him know you first heard him on A JOURNEY WITH BERNIE.Breaking the Castleis now touring. It will be performed at Frankston Arts Centre (11-12 July 2025), Theatre Works St Kilda (15-19 July) and Sydney Opera House (23-26 July).

Ep 101101. The Journey of Grief after losing a Son. From darkness to light with Keith Staite.

Welcome to the first episode of A JOURNEY WITH BERNIE in 2025. Yes, they were weekly in the past 2 years, all 100 of them. So why the 2025 delay until April?Quite simply, if you have been one of our 12,000 listeners, then you will know the scope of learning, awareness, and expansion of though and spirit that this journey offers. It has been remarkable. So much so, that I felt compelled to stop and capture it all in the form of a book, the objective of which is to give all of its readers a roadmap to becoming a more loving and joyful human being. It's a pathway given to us from guests, who you may have met on the front page of your National Newspaper, to those who found some prison time, to sports persons one of which ran around the entire planet, to people who suffered unspeakable traumas and others whose names are foreign to Google. This guidebook will outline actions, strategies, routines ... an entire manual to living love constantly.Have no concerns that the podcast is winding down ... not at all!! Temporarily, it might slow down the regularity, but that is all. The podcast coupled with the book is as dedicated to the mission as ever. Both are valuable contributions to our purpose. So too is this podcast. In fact, this Episode 101, may go down as one of our best in our second hundred episodes! Cast your mind back to Episode #8, when we first met Joel Staite, a young man who was given months to live thanks to an incurable kidney cancer. Remarkably, Joel through his belief, devotion to wellbeing practices and high-level awareness lives another 6 years. What would you learn about life if you lived everyday with the prospect of death tapping you on the shoulder? What Joel learnt and shared with us opened eyes and moved souls, so much so we replayed it in Episode # 98.Then in Episode # 28, just 5 months after the loss of his Son, Joel's father, Keith gave us a remarkable and intimate insight into who Joel had become. Our take was that while values like gratitude, love and kindness might also be the way for many others, very few became those values to such a high degree as did Joel. In his last years, Joel was the living embodiment of all that can be beautiful as a human. The story of Joel shuffling down the aisle to marry his beloved, Kieran, just 4 days before his passing is beautiful told by Keith at the 23.25 mark of this Episode # 101. You will need a tissue. This episode is Keith's story approaching 3 years after Joel's death. It is the journey of a grieving Father, adopting his son's legacy and living so many experiences to honor him. It is the story of the cost of living someone else's life even if it be that of your son. It is the story of recovery, the story of returning home to the power of practices that shift your energies from darkness to life. You will be intrigued by Keith's commentary as to when he feels Joel's presence and how it impacts him. It's as if Joel has returned to remind dad that living gratitude, love and kindness the Keith Staite way is now his mission. This episode is raw. It is authentic and it is powerful. Chip and I are so proud to offer you this remarkable insight into the profound relationship between love and grief. Open up your hearts and absorb every minute of it. Ep 100100. Emeritus Prof Ken Pakenham started this journey 100 Episodes ago. He returns 2 years later.

When I first started A JOURNEY WITH BERNIE just over two years ago, I thought the podcast objectives would be realized in 10 episodes. Afterall, how many strategies, actions, disciplines, ways of seeing the world can there be that could inspire constant inner joy and greater love for self, life and people? Well, here we are 100 episodes and 2 plus years later and still the exploration and the thirst for wisdom is alive! The scope of this journey turned out to be expansive and I began to see that in the very first episode with Emeritus Prof Ken Pakenham. Displaying my amateurish interviewing skills, I asked him … ‘So, what do you see as the Meaning of Life?’ His answer became a reference point over the next 99 episodes. Ken simply suggested, ‘That the meaning of life is found by first identifying and then clarifying one’s values. This becomes your core reference point for all of your behavior and authentic activity. Of course, Ken then rightfully pointed out that the next step is to KNOW your values … to know what they look like as behaviors and finally, the great challenge is to BE the behavioral manifestation of your values’. Little did I know that this 'piece of gold' given to us in the very first episode would become a core discussion over the next two years. Therefore, it is only appropriate that the guest for our century of interviews be the wisdom of Prof Ken Pakenham, and what an incredible episode it is. The additional insights into our possibilities is coming from a very aware soul. It is a soul that has experienced the traumas, the vagrancies and the tribulations of life. It is a soul who has found a way to manage his challenges and arrive at a place of self-respect and personal harmony. Apart from this exhilarating discussion you can understand so much more of the journey of Prof Ken Pakenham in his outstanding memoir called “THE TRAUMA BANQUET”. It is a must read. Finally, I thank you, the 12000 listeners from 52 countries who continue to FOLLOW and SUBSCRIBE to our weekly episodes. You are the ones that give A JOURNEY WITH BERNIE the reason to embrace the years to come. Blessings to you all. Bernie K ... +61 412 982 444

Ep 9999. She saw her Mother's murder and as a result Donna Leigh KNOWS LIFE. A TOP 100 Episode.

This is the penultimate episode before we celebrate a century of A JOURNEY WITH BERNIE and as promised I wanted you to hear the very best of the last two years. That's why it's compulsory for us all to re-visit Episode 57 with Donna Leigh Perfect. If you haven't heard this episode, then you are in for 80 minutes of epic, mind-blowing LIFE. For many people, it would not be conceivable for one at 7 years of age to recover after watching the murder of your Mother. How does a child then respond to the shallow, mixed, regularly painful experiences of 13 Foster Homes? How through these traumatic experiences does one recover to see life so simply, so beautifully, so gloriously? This is the gift of Donna Leigh Perfect.I do believe that there is a golden moment in this episode that is one of the top learnings ever offered on A JOURNEY WITH BERNIE. It was when Donna Leigh was working with Lifeline and her advisor helped her realize that 'These things happen TO people, not BECAUSE of them'. In that moment Donna was able to achieve separation from the pain and chaos of her traumatized life. Furthermore, she was then able to use the experiences beneficially to serve her life. I think you should read that last sentence again ! She was able to use the trauma of watching her mother's murder to understand and extract benefit for her life!! If you want evidence of this, see what she is doing now that brings meaning to her life and adds incredible value to 1000's around the globe ... www.donna-leighperfect.com ... Ep 9898. Cancer taught Joel, YOU and I how to live. The epic Journey of Joel Staite returns.

A JOURNEY WITH BERNIE is approaching 100 episodes, and I can honestly share with you that I thought the purpose of this podcast would be fulfilled in 10!! Afterall, how many strategies and actions are there that lead to becoming a more loving and joyful human being? This Journey has been one of the more profound experiences of my life, with every guest contributing something of value to the ever-expanding pathway towards love becoming a way of life. Of course, some episodes were potent and need to be heard again and again to capture the full learning they offered. Among these were Episodes 8 and 25, which combined to tell the remarkable story of Joel Staite. Joel was diagnosed with an incurable cancer and given 3 months. He lived another 6 years and when I say 'lived', I actually mean he lived every day as if it was his last. Joel's story opened our souls and taught us of what living every moment actually looks like. Only the wisdom of Joel Staite could say something like this ... “This might sound crazy, but I actually think cancer has changed my life for the better – I feel like I have become a better person for having been through this … I so appreciate every moment, every single day so much more”. His incredible story went to air on Jun 15, 2022. On October 8, four months later, Joel passed away. Last month, I received a message from Keith Staite, Joel's dad, whose Episode 28 gave us even more insight into Joel's journey and the depth of our capacity to love. The image Keith gave us of Joel's 'raw courage' leaving the wheelchair and shuffling down the aisle to marry his treasured love, Kieran, will forever be a feature segment on this podcast. Joel did this just days before his death. At the time his body had withered to not much more than skeletal. The Mater Hospital once described Joel as ... 'An ordinary guy doing extraordinary things in the face of gut-wrenching adversity.' I think they are wrong … Joel Staite became an extraordinary human being responding in way that few would to the 'grim reaper' tapping him on the shoulder every day for 6 years. Joel brushed death's hand away for all of that time and in the process discovered a meaning in life that few could comprehend. For this reason, giving you the lessons of Joel Staite in this 98th episode seems to be the only appropriate thing to do. Afterall, you are being taught by a man who crossed the bridge and became 'love'.______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Your feedback on this episode is vital and so is your Followship. So please find a minute to press that Subscriber button and send us a message. Ep 9797. EXHIBITION is a Gallery of Food Art. EXHIBITION is one's man creative gift. Meet Tim Scott.

It was the occasion of my 66th birthday and my good friend Yvonne MacLeod decided that we should celebrate at a restaurant in Brisbane, Australia called EXHIBITION ... www.exhibitionrestaurant.comWhat unfolded was the most unique culinary adventure I had ever experienced. As we sat at the high table overlooking the kitchen, we conversed with the multiple chefs who meticulously created 14 savory masterpieces, before our very eyes. The plates ranged from a delicious mouthful to entree sized 'Food Art', most of which were composed of 4 or 5 ingredients, with the combinations of taste, synergetic wine and restaurant ambience exceeding any meal experience I had ever encountered. Naturally enough, my intrigue was around who created this 'Food Gallery'. What was he or she demonstrating to us? What were they telling us? What was their message? In this episode you will meet Tim Scott, who decided that his hyper focused life force is best expressed through creative art, but this art is not with palette and brush. This art is with natural ingredients blended together to consume the senses of his every guest. I cannot imagine anyone doing it better. By admission, Exhibition is his second baby. Together, with his dear friend Sarah Baldwin, they initially created 'Joy' ... www.joyrestaurant.com.au ... another reputable food journey that is firmly on my bucket list. It's a bit like this podcast, Tim's next chapter was always going to be next level. Built deep underground the Metro Arts Theatre of Brisbane, Exhibition is Tim's intimate 24 seat restaurant which continues the legacy of live theatrical displays, visual arts and performance that still spook this 130-year-old building. Based on Japanese style Omakase dining, the chef will decide your culinary fate. The chef will create. You trust and joyfully invest in the chef ... all 7 of them.Expect to witness custom handmade cutlery, ceramics from local and international artists and their unique skills and knowledge blossom in front of you. Their goal is to share the story of all the creators, producers, artists and craftsmen that have contributed to tonight's Exhibition Food Theatre. Wowwwww !!So, what does this experience have to do with becoming a more loving human being ... the stated objective of A JOURNEY WITH BERNIE!It has everything to do with the mission of this podcast. Listen to this episode and you will hear ...This dining experience is one man's expression of who he is. He is asking you to not compromise on who you are!!Tim is bold enough to put himself before the public and serve them with his gifts. Do you have such courage to put your true self before the evaluators?Tim plays a mentor role to the young chefs who join him, hoping that through his values and vision, they too might realize their unlimited capacities to be best version of self and express it even through what others call work. How do you and I spread our greatness !!Finally, the eye-raising moment in this discussion, where Tim announces that he is both blessed and burdened with 2 medically diagnosed conditions, will only help you realize that blockages don't exist if you still seek to maximise what is. This is a remarkable story with as many learnings and 'Ah Ah' moments as I had on Sept 3, 2024 while at dinner for my birthday. My extraordinary experience is still with me two months later and now dissected in this sensational Episode 97.Would you like to share your birthday with Tim and his team at EXHIBITION sooner than later. Here's where you book ... www.exhibitionrestaurant.comAnd after this episode, here's where you can find the SUBSCRIBER or FOLLOW US button for A JOURNEY WITH BERNIE. Ep 9696. How Dr Adrian Mattke lives between life and death ... and why you should too!

Open up Google and type in Dr Adrian Mattke. If you can find his bio send it to me! I am sure there is a resume page about Adrian Mattke somewhere, but I couldn't find it amidst the hundred plus research articles referencing this incredible Doctor's passion for looking after very sick children ... sometimes dying infants. The vast amounts of references to Adrian's valuable research are stunning. It is obvious that when it comes to Pediatric Intensive Care, Dr Adrian Mattke is world class. This entire episode explores so many human dimensions of Adrian's incredible work. These five discussions are riveting ...How ego and individual advocacy may have to be modified to allow the collective expertise to arrive at sometimes lifesaving medicinal strategy. Why it is so important at times to 'ride the pain' with parents and families. At times the best medicine is just 'being there' with them. How parental love can be an even greater medicine than any tablet or formula. Doctors like Adrian know this from experience now. How Western Medicine has slowly moved to embrace a more wholistic approach to resolve health matters. Consequently, the opinions and collective knowledge of all stakeholders including patient and families can inspire favorable medicinal pathways. This of course, does not diminish professional responsibility. In fact, it is a demonstration of professional accountability to include rather than ignore under the banner of status and perceived right. The fascinating conclusion is that Adrian points out how so many of the principles that need to thrive in an effective Intensive Care Unit also have to serve our lives. Of course, only a man whose foundation was so varied, so rich and so volatile would recognize these valuable comparisons with life. Being raised in West Germany when the country was divided was stimulating in itself. Choosing to do his tertiary studies in East Germany after integration, was a chapter that has colored the tapestry of this man's existence. Are you ready for a unique ride inside the mind of a reputable medical professional? Are you ready to learn from someone who plays in the space between life and death on a daily basis? Are you ready to embrace a man whose work is an extension of values that have been moulded and shaped by both the joy and heartache of serving a child's life. Not all were happy stories._______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________References in this podcast promoted "The Courage to be Disliked" ... the worldwide Japanese phenomena to be found on Google or Amazon.Adrain also suggests you read Erich Fromm's "The Art of Loving" and Scott Peck's epic books "People of the Lie" and "The Road Less Travelled".Bernie K also advocates that after this episode you will have an excellent reason to immediately 'Follow' A JOURNEY WITH BERNIE by pressing the appropriate button on this link ... Ep 9595. Aussie Test Cricketer Michael Kasprowicz says dilute ego and value vulnerability to find your best delivery!

Sometimes your character wins the favor of onlookers without you even knowing of their admiration. This was certainly my take on Michael Kasprowicz, a mighty fine Australian cricketer who played 38 Test Matches for his country and a further 45 games in the shorter forms of cricket. In his career, there were two qualities that defined Michael Kasprowicz. Firstly, the contribution he made to his team environment, be it at national, state or club level was outstanding. The good of the team always came before the good of the individual ... every time with Michael Kasprowicz! Secondly, his resilience and persistence, over 10 seasons was legendary. Michael was recalled to the Australian side no fewer than 12 times. His determination and ability to prove himself regularly outweighing the selectors’ preparedness to write him off. Michael Kasprowicz never gave up. Consequently, his grit and determination created game possibilities that should never have arisen. The drama of Michael's courageous 59-run last wicket partnership with Brett Lee against England is folklore. After incredible fight and fortitude, it stunningly ended just three runs short of what would have been a memorable victory. Viewers will never forget the sight of England's Andrew Flintoff generously consoling the stunned Kasprowicz amidst English celebration. But life too can be generous, for not long after their Birmingham nightmare, Michael and Brett Lee courageously led Australia to a nail-biting two-wicket victory against South Africa with a tension filled 19-run partnership. However, as one of Australia's most reliable bowlers, Michael Kasprowicz is honored. You just knew you were going to get 150% effort every time he had the ball in hand! For that reason, Michael shone in the harshest conditions, excelling in the heat, humidity and hot Sub-continent environment. He rightfully became Australia's workhorse. It is a label that may appear at first to be unflattering, but it is a title that reflects the character and principles of the man. It his values that you will hear most loudly in this episode. Michael's views and perspectives on creating community, the power of transparency and vulnerability and how to create belief and confidence in your teams is first-class education, and his lessons are not just sport inspired. With an MBA from the University of Queensland Michael has an eye for international trade. He is an active member of the Australian India Business Council and the founder of the consultancy firm Venture India, which beautifully assimilates the principles of elite performance into the world of commerce and business. You are about to hear from a sporting icon. More importantly, you are about to receive valuable lessons and awarenesses that just aren't available from 'the person next door'. Welcome to an hour with Michael Kasprowicz.

Ep 9494. These 2 books could shift your life permanently! Salute to Russ Harris and Bronnie Ware.

THE POWER OF BOOKS and PODCASTS .... Wherever I go, I take my book. It is amazing how many times in one day, a meeting is delayed. Someone is running late. You arrive early. The dentist is behind time. There are so many opportunities, even in a single day to take out your book and read 5 pages. If that happens 3 times a day, then you have just read 15 of a 240-page book. That means, you will read it in 16 days and that means you read 20 books per year! One of my clearly defined values is THIRST FOR WISDOM. Living that value means I choose books that can teach me. When I travel in my car, I listen to podcasts. I am always searching for a learning opportunity. Growing, evolving, becoming more aware of better mindsets is a not only a joy for me. It fuels new possibilities. When two such books are The Happiness Trap : Harris, Russ: Amazon.com.au: Books and THE TOP FIVE REGRETS OF THE DYING by Bronnie Ware, then you are going to receive new ways of seeing self, life and people. Do yourself a favour and order both on Amazon now and read them before Christmas, then your festive season will bring you greater joy for sure!!For example, just imagine what you would learn from someone who for years worked in palliative care with patients who had gone home to die. Bronnie Ware loved them for the last 3 to 12 weeks of their lives. Special times were shared. People see new things ... they grow quickly when faced with their own mortality. This was hammered home to A JOURNEY WITH BERNIE in Episode # 8 with Joel Staite, who was told he had 3 months to live but found greater life to last 6 years. When faced with death, change in so many dimensions can be phenomenal. Such change often brings greater awareness and peace before departure. So, I'll give you a taste of what is to come for you. Here is one of the 5 regrets of those reflecting on life as they approach their passing ... I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.How many dreams have gone because of one's lack of courage to stop compromising. Why wouldn't you favour your own fulfilment so that you have more to give self, life and others? This is where The Happiness Trap by Russ Harris ... amazon.com.au/Happiness-Trap-Struggling-Start-Living/dp/1590305841 ... adds so much value, because it focuses on how to create a meaningful life by living your values not compromising them, which Bronnie noticed was at the core of people's regrets as they approached life's end.THE HAPPINESS TRAP is devoted to effective strategies that can help us unhook from thoughts and feelings that do not serve us.It addresses the difference between values and goals and admirably suggests we redefine success as living by our values. You will find this episode loaded with actions and strategies for your contemplation, but perhaps the most obvious message is simply this ... VALUE LEARNING ... READ MORE ... THIRST FOR GROWTH ... SEEK NEW EXPERIENCES. It is a habit that will fuel your life.Bernie K ... +61 412 982 444

Ep 9393. From pathetic VICTIM to emphatic VICTORY ... The Jeff Horn Story.

This is A JOURNEY WITH BERNIE best!Jeff Horn's journey from a timid, bullied teenager to an international lord of the boxing ring reads like the script of a feel-good Hollywood blockbuster. His unlikely transformation from a nervous, "nerdy little kid" into a World Boxing Welterweight Champion is legendary in Australian sport. On a winter's day in Brisbane in 2017 the man dubbed 'the baby-faced assassin' beat one of the greatest professional boxers of all time ... Manny Pacquiao ... who was the only boxer in history to have won 12 major world titles. However, on July 2, in what was hailed the 'Battle of Brisbane', Horn became his nemesis by winning a controversial point decision. It wasn't controversial at all, because as you will hear in this outstanding episode, 7 judges have declared Jeff Horn as clear winner. I was there. Jeff Horn won. Jeff will explain why it suits a sometimes corrupt industry to call it 'controversial' when the unexpected disrupts plans for future bigger paydays. The upset victory made “The Hornet” a household name in Australia and captured people’s imaginations. Here was a mild-mannered schoolteacher, a Clark Kent-type character, who had become superman in the ring. At the time, Horn says, his new fame was hard to get used too. He couldn't go for a reflective walk in a rainforest without being recognised. "I just wanted to be a hermit and close myself in. I didn't like the constant barrage that I would get. Thank God, things have changed. I'm much more comfortable these days just being a dad. I'm just like everyone else. I don't feel like I'm different. I just had an extraordinary moment or two, but that is in the past now." What this episode will reveal is Jeff's incredible journey nearly didn't happen. There were dark days as a teenager where constant bullying had him sitting alone in his bedroom reflecting on how little value he could see in himself. In a frank admission, he even considered the ultimate escape from life. Maybe, it was the support of girlfriend Joanna, his wife to be, or maybe it was the day he stepped into a martial arts gym and met Geoff Rushton that brought light. Such pivotal moments are referred to in this absorbing chat, which includes the day Geoff Rushton painted the vision that became Jeff's pathway ... 'I can get you to the Olympics in 4 years and 4 years later, you will become World Champion'. Jeff accepted the journey. With every incredible victory, there was always one thing that stood out about a post-fight Jeff Horn interview. In contrast to many egotistical pugilists of his industry, Jeff would frequently reference his love for Joanna and his growing family. It became synonymous with his branding. Jeff claims being a dad brings him unlimited happiness. Receiving his children's kisses and cuddles and reading bedtime stories is definitely his new knockout punch. The beauty of Jeff Horn is that his love for life and people now flows into schools where as an ambassador for Bullyproof Australia | Every Student, Every School, Everywhere!, Jeff coaches resilience and understanding. Of course, when Jeff teaches, students listen. Afterall, he is the living embodiment of a person who was a Victim and found a way to become Champion of the World and in a many people's eyes ... He still is!!

Ep 9191. How a 120kg 'dumpling' came to run around the World in 576 days! Tim Franklin is transformation in action.

Imagine the solitude. Imagine what thoughts would tease you ... torment you ... as you ran up to 70 klms per day for 576 days. What would you learn about your body ... your physical capability and how to fuel it adequately? What type of mindset would be necessary, to be able to cope and to handle such a massive assignment? What would you learn from touching base with nearly every country upon the planet in slow motion? And what if you were on track to become the fastest man to run around the globe after 150 plus days, when your stride comes to a standstill with then news, 'that your father is in his last days'. What would you do? This is Episode 91 ... The incredible TIM FRANKLIN story!!Please don't put Tim in the 'gifted' or 'the unusual' category ... you may even want to give him 'a weirdo' tag, but to do so would be ignorant of the potential that Tim advocates lives in YOU. We all have 'an Everest' within us. We all are capable of setting a BHAG ... A Big Hairy Audacious Goal!! And furthermore, the drive and motivation is there too depending on what you listen too !! if you listen to your intervening mind of the past, then are likely to be blocked. If you listen to Tim Franklin, then you will hear of action and strategies that will empower you to believe that YOU CAN! He is proof that you can. From a 120 kg major 'dumpling' with a diet fueled by terrible eating habits, alcohol, frequent parties and the rush and hustle of a fast corporate life as a lawyer, Tim went to become only the 8th human ever to circumnavigate the globe by foot. The moment of change came when lawyer Tim came across a quote written by a parent that had lost their child. The quote read, “the hardest thing a parent has to do is bury their own child”. At this point, it dawned on him that his life choices were likely to give his parents that same fatal outcome. The next day, Tim laced up and ran an extremely painful 2.2km. It was the game changer! With that decision to run a slow arduous 28 minutes Tim Franklin changed his life forever. Whoever he was, was now in the process of changing. It's safe to say that Tim has virtually rewired himself from his past. The job as a lawyer has been left behind. The task of coaching and creating running communities is his gift and his mission is to 'get the world moving'. What a remarkable transformation!Needless to say, if you listen to this episode, you will be inspired, encouraged, given hope, educated, see new possibilities and in part, you will be given signals and signs on how to become a better version of yourself. That's guaranteed in this Episode#91 with Tim Franklin ... the man who ran around the world ... Tim Runs the World | Tim FranklinThese books were mentioned during the podcast. Ep 9090. What 4 Marriages taught Lara Arden about LOVE and Life.

A VISION BOARD is a pictorial LIFE PLAN. My Vision Board summarises ALL that is currently important to me in a single colorful page of clarified values, bold goals and even personal pictures and quotes inspiring achievements to come. Today's incredible guest, Lara Arden took one look at it and politely stated that she had not met anyone who so clearly saw in advance the life they were creating. Then she went silent ... thinking silent ... wisdom silent. What she said next changed my life."You know Bernie, I've been through 4 marriages. I am certain that the first two marriages failed because I was too young to know what true love even looked like and because tight religious frameworks told me how life should be. That was misleading. The fourth marriage ended when he tried to kill me. He was charged for arson ... a fire that was also meant to reduce me to ashes as well. As a result of these experiences I have been tormented by deep traumas. I tell you this so that you know I have been through a bit. Life has spoken to me.""When one creates the best-intentioned plans, the Gods start laughing. They hear you but for certain unexpected interventions will dint, possibly wreck your creative vision. For certain, you will stumble across encounters that you ignore, simply because they are not congruent with your Vision Board. This is unwise, because some of those foreign opportunities were sent to you to take you to even higher places. Your Vision Board is commendable. I just hope that you are still open to the vagrancies of life, because in 'the unexpected' there is profound opportunity to maximize your experience of life.""I hope your plans always swim in the ocean of flexibility, otherwise you may drown in broken dreams".It took Lara Arden one minute to deliver to me what I now call 'The Lara Principle'. My response was simple, "You b____h, you just nailed me". We laughed. You will laugh in this episode too because Lara is walking joy, but your face is more likely to be illuminated by enlightened thoughts and wisdoms born out of tragedy, recovery and redemption. Such is the power of Lara's story, the raw take was over 2 hours and it has taken Chip and I, 3 months to identify what we were prepared to release. What is left is a powerful episode that will move your soul. The year you guess.Your Father is unknown. He was in your mother's life for a short time. He will never be known to you.Sudan becomes Egypt, but life is really day to day ... just survival. Ep 8888. Here's a reason to FAST for 3 days !! Sujit Menon explains ...

The meeting was about to start when in walked the brightest, most joyful face you could imagine. I simply commented to this man of Indian origin that 'You look so happy! How come?'. His reply was, 'You'd be happy too, if you just finished an 84 hour fast!'. This podcast reveals that Sujit Menon only eats in a four-hour window each day. It might be from breakfast to midday or from lunch to 5 pm, but only during a 4-hour period per day is Sujit's body offered sustenance, and this is his habit EVERYDAY.Sujit explains the science of AUTOPHAGY ... A process by which our 'good' cells during extended fasting periods break down and destroy old, damaged, or abnormal cells. The breakdown fragments are then either recycled for other important cell functions or released from the body as toxins. AUTOPHAGY may well be the strongest detox cleansing process available to humankind and some say it even impedes the development of cancerous cells. But Sujit has other reasons for adopting his comfortable but strict routine. Coupled with regular 'mini' mind meditations each day, Sujit feels that his existence is less distracted than others. He is still a busy man ... a productive man as his working life at ... Premium Zcrm Digital Business Card App - Boost Networking (pixelgram.digital) ... would suggest, but his mind has clarity. It is uncluttered and moves through the day efficiently and with ease. His routines driven by mature mindfulness are born from his rich connection with Indian history, culture, and Hindu Philosophy. They appear to guarantee him a deep well of constant entrenched joy. Sujit has much to teach.Through this podcast, Sujit will teach you about the importance of focusing on efforts rather than outcomes. Through Sujit, you will come to understand that nothing in life is permanent. Therefore, stay adaptable, be flexible and maximise the opportunity that change inevitably brings. Move with change. Finally, let Sujit explain that only through an existence of minimal attachments can one really find deeper capacities to love. Sujit will suggest that 'Even one's attachment to food can be a distraction from being your innate loving core'.Wow, this episode is inspiring. It will stimulate a lot of questions with perhaps the leading question being 'Do you have the courage to answer them?'Proceed if you want to see new possibilities.__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________MESSAGE FROM BERNIE KI tell you what we find stimulating! Ep 8686. Foster Parenting + Cancer = Fear and Isolation. "Where do I turn" asked Neville Stone.

Neville Stone, together with his precious partner Justine Baker are foster parents to 4 siblings giving them foundation, life and purpose. Their incredible story was captured in Episode 52. The JOURNEY WITH BERNIE community was in awe of their generosity and servitude. Their story gave us multiple messages and reminders of what it means to live with loving hearts. Then came last week's phone call and threatening news. Justine was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and no guarantees. This is why Neville reached out to us. He felt lost. In his own words, he was crumbling under the pressure. He felt Fear ... Fear of loss ... Fear of the future. He felt hopeless, not knowing where to turn. We are so fortunate that he turned to A JOURNEY WITH BERNIE, for in doing so he has inspired this riveting podcast focusing on Men's Wellbeing. We needed some expertise, and we were well aware of Tony Groom's passion and concern from Episode #3, for Men's Health issues. He has long been an advocate of numerous Wellbeing Retreats run by men for men and sees transparent mateship as crucial for men's mental and spiritual strength. His presence on this podcast was so valuable.Join Neville Stone, Tony Groom and host Bernie K for an exploration of what men need to do to ensure their mental and spiritual health is strong ... that they can cope with the pressures and strains of life ... and why it is perfectly ok to let go of one's machoism and present as vulnerable and human. You will find this podcast different. It is a live example of how two mates came together for their friend to help him in his time of need. It is a case study and a real time example of how men can support men. The real-life counsel and dialogue make this a riveting episode.Women who care for their struggling men will gain so much from the wisdoms that are captured over the next 50 minutes. Please remember, your thoughts and feedback are so valuable. Ep 8585. How to fall in love with and understand ADHD ... the Paula Burgess way.

If LOVE is measured by dedication, commitment, the desire to enhance and to create life, then Paula Burgess just might win this year's PROFOUND LOVE AWARD. She wasn't drawn to having children in the first place, but life had other ideas and at the age of 30, Paula gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. They named him Jessie, whose developing years revealed a diagnosis of ADHD. In Paula's own words, society and people don't seek to understand 'naughtiness'. They just label the child and assume poor parenting. Coping with that stigma was only part of Paula's challenge. Teaching Jessie to adapt, to fit in, to develop and share emotional intelligence has been Paula's constant journey, which has transformed her as a human being. Her levels of patience have skyrocketed. Her capacity to tolerate and love has escalated. Her openness and transparency with the boy she adores has deepened. You will hear her claim that if one surrenders to the challenge then there is every possibility that your life will be enriched beyond your expectations. Mind you, it helps if you surround yourself with a valued environment of support. To that end, Paula praises the way St Patrick's College, Shorncliffe, here in Brisbane, has embraced the challenge of a sometimes difficult to manage, ADHD child. Together, they have worked to sedate Jessie with love, kindness and understanding and the rewards are obvious. They have even made Jessie's tendency to hyperfocus into his super strength, that can bring enormous value to those working in Jessie's areas of interest. The impact on Paula has been so profound that she now dedicates her life to teaching, coaching, and guiding those in similar situations to her own. Her business called BEYOND THE MAZE raises awareness in society and supports parents in their coping with children who have similar neurodevelopment disorders. This is an incredible story of a career driven, qualified, financial planner who became a devoted mother determined to help her son be the best person he can be. This is a story about the courage to change purpose. This is a story about love overflowing. It is now time for you to allow Paula Burgess to become your teacher. Before finishing this podcast make sure you look up Paula's Business and Book ... Beyond the ADHD Label - Beyond the Maze ... and The Official Website of Dr Joe Dispenza

Ep 8383. Lee Addison is a Rugby League Coach. His players say 'He is a Life Coach'.

If there is one thing that great sport coaches seem to have in common, it is the view of their players, that 'coach' was more like a parent figure then a skills or strategy master. When current Brisbane Lions coach, Chris Fagan was once asked 'what was his secret to inspiring his players to lofty heights', he calmly said, 'that at the end of the day, it is all about RELATIONSHIPS'. The great Alfie Langer and present Broncos Coach, Kevin Walters, once spoke of Wayne Bennet as more like A FATHER FIGURE, then a Rugby League Guru and current Carlton coach, Michael Voss, once said to a Radio reporter 'That if you can't connect with players HEARTS then you cannot take them anywhere'. The thousands of players who have experienced 'the way' of today's guest, Lee Addison, would say the same of this funny, connectable, loveable, rogue from England. Lee coaches LIFE thru FOOTBALL.This episode actually reminds us that we are all coaches to someone. Therefore, this episode with Lee Addison, asks you some serious in your face questions. What are you doing to strengthen the relationship with those you guide and love? How do you as COACH, enhance the wellbeing of those who are dearest to you? What do you do to lift the esteem, worth and value of friends and family, so that they can perform better in the game of life? And finally, what are you doing and saying to elevate the life of the one person over whom you have total control ... the person of self ... YOU!!For all of the above, you must have a listen to this rugby league teaching guru, who has coached junior, senior, and National rugby league teams all over the world. Imagine, what Lee learnt when he coached an undefeated Poland to victory in the Emerging Nations World Trophy of 2018.Absorb the lessons he learnt as an assistant coach at NRL clubs, Manly Sea Eagles and Penrith Panthers.Value the learnings, he offers after taking Ipswich State High School, a school with a 'disreputable brand', to becoming the top Rugby League school in this nation. Through sport, Lee Addison changed that school's identity from which all students benefited, then and now.Look in the mirror dear listener and remind yourself that you are COACH and therefore you must discover ways to add value to those you cherish. Lee Addison, has some outstanding suggestions for you. Suggestions that if you apply will have your players remembering you with gratitude and fondness for the rest of their days.Do you want to contact Lee? ... https://rugbyleaguecoach.com.au/And of course, if you want to have a chat with Bernie then call +61 412 982 444 or email him at ... ... Ep 8282. Jana Lipinska ... An Angel from Europe on Becoming your own Best Friend.

You never know who you will meet at a coffee shop! I could tell by her accent that she was from Europe, but I would never have guessed her native country as Slovakia. Neither was it possible for me to know that the young lady serving me a 'Flat White with Oat Milk' was a graduate in Genetics from Liverpool's John Moores University. There was also no clue that she could speak 4 languages or had lived in 10 different countries, including Vietnam, Cambodia, Cypress, Greece and now Australia. The only thing that did not surprise was that she was only 31. That she looked.More impressive than Jana Lipinska's vagabond lifestyle is the incredible paradigms and perceptions Jana has accumulated from her wide range of different experiences. In this regard, Jana is mature beyond her years. In fact, I would say that she has superior spiritually awareness and is uniquely gifted. Her abilities to take what most would find complex and talk with such clarity and understanding is truly remarkable. Whether you are seeking it or not, you are about to learn more than you anticipated. Jana's capacity to communicate clearly will penetrate. You will be asking yourself ... "How did she become this self-aware being"?Well imagine if you too left your native land with the equivalent of just 350AUD to live in another country. Now that takes faith and courage. For sure that is going to deliver new and valuable experiences and it did. What would you do if you ran out of money after 3 months exploring Cambodia and Vietnam?Jana decided to stay, work and live there for the next 5 years! In fact, she became a model and an actress while living in Asia. She was very good at both. And when misfortune came your way, would you choose to retreat and live alone in the jungles of Bali in order to emotionally heal? And upon healing might you think that would be a good time to choose a stint at home! Not for Jana, she chooses Australia, which she says now feels like HOME.Dear listeners, you are in for a treat. You are meeting one of the rare ones. In this single hour, it is possible to see self, people and life with greater clarity. That is not Jana's hope. That is her gift. Please contact Jana directly. Ep 8181. Brendan Ramnath ... What would be the value to live without TIME?

A JOURNEY WITH BERNIE has always advocated that 'it is difficult to turn your back completely on society's paradigms of success, the need for money, work for 45 years, build your castle etc etc. Even if you sensed it as a formula for stress, strains and headaches, perhaps even a pathway to habitual unhappiness, we have always suggested that the search is for a MODIFIED EXISTENCE only. However, there are some rare individuals who are prepared to have so much faith in their journey for sustainable inner joy, that A MODIFICATION is simply not enough. I think in our two-year existence, this podcast has met three such people, one of them being today's guest ... BRENDAN RAMNATH. The first however, was Matthew Barber Episode 33 who was quite happy to announce that the pathway to liberation is his choice and his episode is exactly that ... enlightening ! ... https://open.spotify.com/episode/13AiqvICoaZiugTzfeYSX0?si=eea6899f162e4c1eThe second is Louise Bennet, the only person to appear on our podcast 3 times. Louise is 'the beautiful', who discovered her uncompromising pathway to a greater joyful life, through embracing a mastectomy while combating her breast cancer. Her story is beautifully told in Episodes 60, 63 and 64. You should not miss them ... https://open.spotify.com/episode/1PvhH16CXYc7VhGs4MX1Cm?si=9e72f811119c45dfLouise returns in this podcast as my co-host and joyfully announces that she is now in remission and is going to Nepal with us this November to trek the Himalayas. Yes, you read that correctly. Just months after being medically informed that her cancer was in decline, Louise continues to choose greater life. This time, by retreating to the most powerful forces of nature upon our planet. There is a profound message here about how greater life can be found in those who truly understand death. It is not surprising that Louise's remarkable journey has led her to beautiful companionship with today's guest ... BRENDAN RAMNATH. Like Louise he is in his early 30's, but this young man is courage personified. Many people hear their calling but only few are fearless enough to ardently follow it. As Brendan describes, he too is climbing a life ladder, but his rungs are steps along the way that only lead to greater inner joy and an enhanced capacity to love self, life and people. The rungs of his ladder, he calls virtues. His first is AWARENESS. It is high level AWARENESS that allows him to choose his experience in most given moments. He rarely falls victim to 'monkey mind' and its continuous bombardment of distracting messages. Living his virtues of HONESTY and AWARENESS simultaneously, means it is not possible for Brendan to be false, fake, ego in that moment. BRENDAN RAMNATH is walking AUTHENTICITY.Of course, you will be challenged in this episode, but isn't that what A JOURNEY WITH BERNIE is all about? Wait until he explains the value of living without time metrics by turning off the clock on your iPhone or getting rid of your watches. BRENDAN sleeps without alarms and rarely misses an appointment!Heh, this Episode is a thought provoker. It will make you consider that, of which you may not have even been aware.Embrace it. Listen and consider, and you will leave this episode a richer human being. You might even find the time to read two books, so strongly recommended by Louise and Brendan. The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel Van Der Kolk, and Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. Like this episode, both are game changers!Do you want to speak to Brendan and/or Louise directly? Brendan ... +61 481 868 742Louise Bennet ... +61 406 512 389I want to speak to you for sure! Ep 8080. Brendon Nilsson ... Do you allow yourself to be CALLED and HELD by nature?

A JOURNEY WITH BERNIE met Brendon Nilsson on the trail to Everest Base Camp in Nepal. At first, there was a silent frown or two as to why this robust young 34-year-old Aussie and his mate Beau, were walking the Himalayas without a Nepalese Guide. Then we discovered that Brendon is a National Park Ranger, a beloved member of the RSPCA wildlife team, been looking after the wellbeing of Koalas for 13 years, a three-time trekker of Nepal's mountainous terrains, an explorer of Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, India, Japan and New Zealand's natural environments and a proud member of Gundungurra Nation. The man is nature personified. So, you can imagine what this episode is going to ask of you? What should you be learning from nature that can bring you greater peace, calm, and joy to your life? How often should you be seeking Nature's gifts? How does the space and chill time that nature offers impact one's life? What don't we see in country that is known by our indigenous brothers and sisters? What might our lives look like if we too lived by instinct as does the animal kingdom, rather than by laws, policies and perspectives of what is right and wrong bestowed upon us by governance, council and religious frameworks? If answers to the above questions are not flowing for you, then you simply must listen to this episode with Brendon Nilsson. Apply Brendon's suggestions and I can promise you that life will take on a whole different feel and flow. Thanks to Brandon, a new segment was introduced to the show. 'Book of the Episode' introduces you to two great reads Book of Man by Osho who was once described by an American reporter as the most dangerous man since Jesus Christ. Now that means he was making some interesting and challenging noises !!! Our guest Brandon was a bit of a fan! The other book is an absolute classic ... Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom ... It's not often you will hear me advocate to you our listeners that any book is compulsory but imagine me looking you in the eyes right now and quietly mouthing this C word ... COMPULSORY!! Well, it's a COMPULSORY read if you like our guest just loves the journey of discovering more, exploring your possibilities and becoming that joyful lover of life.Brendon is contactable on +61 407 511 820, and of course I, Bernie Kelly, welcome your call, your feedback, your interest in Nepal anytime. Ep 7979. Lachlan 'Chip' Huddy offers proof that this Podcast can turn you into a Spielberg.

Over the last year, your feedback told us here at A JOURNEY WITH BERNIE, just how much value the additional presence of Lachlan 'Chip' Huddy has brought to this podcast. Who else would have greeted our listeners with a turn of phrase like, "Greetings, you hungry Grizzly Bears feasting on the Salmon of Enlightenment". Who else could call upon his breadth of reading, research and realizations to add informed wisdom beyond comparison. Who else could humbly turn his role of co-host into one in which he joyfully became 'the listener's ears', questioning and clarifying our guests into actions that truly added value to all of our lives. Who else could take a amateur local audio product and through masterful editing and productions skills turn it into a truly global offering valued by listeners from 52 countries. This is why in this episode we celebrate Chip's move to become the author and director of a monumental feature film, which means his temporary absence from our weekly show. This is why we have asked him for all of his learnings over the last 2 years, and why we must humbly honor the contributions of Lachlan 'Chip' Huddy to this global offering. So here in Episode 79, Chip leaves us with a description of his own journey, identifying those lessons that have greatly influenced his life over the last few years. As usual, he describes the complex with simplicity in the most masterful of ways. If ever you wondered what the collective influence of all of these wise thoughts, ideas and actions offered by our guests could be, then this is the episode that will 'rid you of your bloopers, open up your lens and reveal a magical world of possibilities'.And as a finale, if ever you wanted to hear what love actually sounds and feels like between two heterosexual great mates, who despite 25 years of difference, were blessed to find each other than the ending of this podcast will enlighten you.So, to Lachlan 'Chip' Huddy, I on behalf of our near 10000 listeners simply say, "Go forth, you masterful Yoda of the Lens. Snap your camera. Call for 'Action' and brighten the globe with your smorgasbord of wisdom, truths and cinematic enlightenment" ... for this is what you have brought to us in different forms over the last two years. Ep 7878. Yvonne Haeaefke - From Communist East Germany to Empowering Australians!

Meet Yvonne Haeaefke, who grew up in Communist East Germany where the authority was accepted as providers of safety, guarantors of comfort and instigators of an equanimous community. However, under such governance, the concept of creating a life driven by ambition and exciting dreams was suppressed. Conformity was the better call, but not if you were born into the Haeaefke family. Fueled by encouraging parents, their only daughter was privately taught to ask 'why' and to be curious about the world. However, it was sensible that Yvonne also be careful about passionately displaying her thirst for learning and articulating creative dreams in public. The regime were not in favour !It was hardly surprising, when the opportunity finally arose, Yvonne joined the chorus who forced the wall between the East and the West to come tumbling down on 9 November 1989. The floodgates of possibilities were now open to Yvonne's love of life. While keen to explore opportunities outside of Germany, one must realise the courage required to even consider going abroad. First, education had taught no other language than German. The world outside was new, daunting and strange. Even to cross the Channel and live in England required a lifestyle foreign to an East German girl who only knew socialism.Wind the clock on 20 plus years and Yvonne Haeaefke is living her second life. This time there is no suppression or cofusion. Yvonne is living her dream in alignment with values and her true self. Her home is Australia whereas a qualified Registered Nurse and Allied Health Professional, Yvonne has experienced a taste of her childhood. So many people battling mental health challenges such as addiction, anxiety, and depression reminded her of her formative years. These encounters spoke strongly and inspired her to recently open up her own private practice. Ep 7777. Samantha Barnett ... You are NOT what you eat ... YOU ARE what you ABSORB!

In many ways this EPISODE 77 with the sensationally enthusiastic, passionate, nutrition expert, SAMMY BARNETT, should be regarded as a cornerstone to the joyful and loving mission of A JOURNEY WITH BERNIE ... and CHIP. Is it possible to develop a solid love for self without an almost sacred respect for our body? While not said precisely in those words, Sammy and this highly informative discussion certainly advocates the value in first learning to be in awe of our most incredible machine. Through her own painful uncertain journey and most powerful discoveries, Sammy Barnett is clear that the way you treat your body is one of the greater determinants of your wellbeing and happiness.Sammy was 11, when she first experienced signs of Generalised Anxiety and Panic Disorder. Social Anxiety, Depression and plummeting self-value were her constant companions throughout school life and early adulthood. Her road to greater health led to the discovery of how food and lifestyle choices impact wellbeing, moods and relationships. Consequently, her passion for Nutritional Medicine was inspired and now drives her daily mission to revolutionize nutrition education, particular in our schools. This is why you are going to hear and understand gem after gem from this International expert. Here is a taste (if you'll excuse the pun) ...It's not just what you eat that is important, it's more about what you ABSORB. Did you know that the trillion plus bacteria in our microbiome, far outnumber the amount of cells in our body? When you consider that intermittent fasting and intuitive eating allow these trillion bacteria to ignite a cleansing detox of damaged and potentially pre-cancerous cells, then maybe it is the healthy balance of bacteria families in our gut that are actually core to our overall health and wellbeing. Therefore, beware of certain anti-biotics, which have the capacity to destroy gut bacteria. There maybe other ways.Value natural food sources rather than processed vitamin and probiotic pills to build a strong, fully functioning microbiome. Afterall, we too are a natural being. The volume of advices that this episode offers are immense. In fact, may I suggest that you have a note pad and pen and maybe the first message you should write down is simply this ... Respect for my body is your foundation for greatest self-love.And for that profound message, you can thank Sammy Barnett.Call Sammy to share your own wellbeing journey ... +61 421 665 889Catch Sammy on Instagram too ... nutritionwithsammy Don't forget A JOURNEY WITH BERNIE ... and CHIP on Instagram either ... berniekelly103And for feedback about this episode, contact Bernie K on +61 412 982 444 or [email protected] wants to say 'hello' too ... +61 410 603 336 ... Ep 7676. Janeen Vosper, the Master Coach Spanning 14 Generations

Janeen Vosper is a born coach but in this episode, we also discovered that Janeen is a natural explorer. Yes, we celebrate her expertise, clearly on display as author of Good Girls Do Sell: The Modern Businesswoman's Guide to Authentic Selling: Vosper. We salute her 30 years of international training and speaking experience, and we recommend you listen to her superb weekly podcast We Are Women, but most of all we introduce you to a woman who just loves to learn, grow and then fulfil her daily mission of inspiring people to start doing what they first believed was not possible. Janeen is a master coach, because she is an extension of her own profound exploration. Janeen advocates that you raise your children as if they were your grandchildren. She suggests parents dilute the heavy-handed guidance, the directing, the demanding, that conditions the child to only see life according to their parent’s shaping. She suggests we give the child more space to discover their true self by offering less influence, in the same way that most grandparents enjoy their grandchild, without taking full responsibility for them. (Consider that in light of the lessons from Hilary Langford and the Enneagram in episodes 71-73.) And how about this for a thought! Janeen suggests we are part of our own ‘ancestral chain’ with traceable scientific evidence that seven preceding generations genetically live within us. Accepting this as truth, it also means that we therefore influence the 7 generations to come. Given that each generation spans 20 to 30 years, Jeneen presents the value of seeing our life with a sense of responsibility for the next two centuries.Maybe our life isn’t as fleeting as we thought? Maybe, our decisions today do carry weight for generations to come? Is anybody thinking Climate Change? Thank you, Janeen, for reminding us that our personal brand can only be seen as solid when we act consistently. We must minimise the surprises when it comes to our behaviour. The stronger your brand the more consistent you have to be! Thank you, Janeen, for teaching us first to see ourselves as human and not as a product of our Australian, European or American cultural CONDITIONING. This woman is a master coach making this episode so very profound. Ep 7575. Andrew Cominos - Once Polyamorous, Now Just Adventurous

Read these six statements. Pause after each one. Consider them. Then move onto the next. You can make all the money in the world, but be the least successful person who ever lived. If you can't keep your word to yourself it simply shows how little regard you have for yourself.Failure is not some out-of-the-blue, colossal sudden event. It usually arises from not doing all of the little things over a long period of time. Love is so wild, it is so free, so infinite in itself, it cannot be defined.Your discipline reflects the love you have for you. When was the last time you stepped into the unknown?Rarely has an episode discussed so many topics in such a hard-edged punchy way. In less than an hour, you will be teased and prodded as to why an Adventurous Lifestyle is somewhat mandatory if you seek to maximise your life. Coupled with Adventure comes the Fun of Playing, another concept that has gone missing in western lifestyles. Our guest, Andrew Cominos will even share with you the pros and cons of a different adventure: Polyamory, the practice of having multiple intimate relationships with the consent of all parties involved. Andrew tells it as it is, because he has been there! The discussion from the 28:52 mark of this episode is riveting. Bravely, Andrew goes into great depth as to how polyamory can work for some and why for most, it cannot. It is a discussion that will challenge many, be convenient for some and will intrigue most.At age 35 Andrew Cominos has already had a tumultuous life, but he has used the lessons of it wisely. His journey has culminated in a rare business creation called Project Remarkable. It is rare because there is no doubt that everything Andrew does in this business is a full extension of his values. You get the feeling that the activities of his business are what he would do anyway, irrespective of the dollars it generates - a bit like this podcast. Like Andrew, we find it hard to call this work!Consequently, you will meet a truly unique sales coach, who believes that business performance has little to do with special skills or techniques but everything to do with the synergy between personal fulfillment and your love for what you do, under the banner of work. So, to help people rediscover or find that fulfilment, this sales coach takes his clients into the world of the wild, into extraordinary adventures that allow them to play, feel joy, and reconnect with their true selves, enabling them to talk about a business that truly reflects that real self. Such business is rarely a strain. When it is congruent with the real you, it is a joy. Stress then is not part of the equation.Perhaps the quote that Andrew delivers in this podcast about the 'purpose of life' best summarises what awaits you: enjoy and maximise the passage of time.If you feel you are not doing this, then stick in the earpieces and dive into this episode.Bernie K: +61 412 982 444Lachlan 'Chip' Huddy: +61 410 603 336www.journeywithbernie.co

Ep 7474. How Are You Serving Community? with Emmagness Ruzvidz

Emmagness Ruzvidzo was a skilled Marketing Strategist capable of building a company’s brand and positioning and her track record in Southern Africa was excellent. So when she, her husband and baby girl left Zimbabwe for Australia, their only thought was, What could go wrong?Well, nothing. And everything. On the one hand, Em’s new personal business is now smashing it as a Marketing Strategist, Coach and Trainer. On the other hand, her journey since arriving in Oz raises many questions about the Australian style of management. You see, Em was a girl born of tribal ways where the building of community was a central focus. Values such as personal connection, seeing the good in all, servitude, listening, ‘tough love’, and valuing people’s opinions defined Em’s management style. She held regular meetings at her home, where her fridge and food were open to all. They were equals, not subordinates. She built productive teams quickly. Her people not only respected her; they adored her. But this didn’t sit well with the rest of the executive team, whose status-seeking, power-laden, righteous, protect-thyself ways clashed with Em’s style…and her results. This episode will question you: Do you build community? Is building community around you even important to you? Or do you prefer a sheltered way of living, where knowing your neighbour is perceived to dilute your own privacy? Does this reflect your fear of connecting with people? If this is you, then you must hear Emmagness talk of the Ubuntu concept: 'I am because you are'. It is a concept that honours and draws from the wisdom of the past, and hearing Em explain it will lift your awareness of the powerful potential for community in your own life.It would appear to me that out of this episode one will come to realise that inner joy and love of life, people and self is impossible without the contribution to and building of strong supportive communities.Emmagness Ruzvidzo: Marketing Strategist, Coach & Trainer, VAKA ConsultingT. +61 0468322800 E. Ep 7373. Chip takes the Enneagram Test

Last week, podcast host Bernie K went under the Enneagram microscope with Hilary Langford. This week you get the same opportunity with Hilary leading Lachlan ‘Chip’ Huddy through the Enneagram maze. The beauty of this episode is that the patterns that determine the way Chip operates in life are so different to those of Bernie’s. There is every chance that you will see yourself in either of these case studies and, by taking onboard the feedback from Hilary, you'll have the opportunity to become more aware of ways to modify your life to produce greater calm and joy.The discussion that evolves about how two contrasting personalities and characters such as Bernie and Chip can work together is a lesson about maximising connection. It is a study of how to partner and an educational message to those who want to create greater teamwork. On the surface, the episodes of the last three weeks may appear to be a little self-indulgent, but in reality they are a message about the power of vulnerability and transparency. A Journey With Bernie and Chip offers you two outstanding case studies to increase your understanding of self by enhancing your awareness of what really happens in this game of life. For more information on the Enneagram contact Hilary Langford on +61 417 797 374Bernie K: +61 412 982 444Lachlan 'Chip' Huddy: +61 410 603 336

Ep 7272. Bernie takes the Enneagram Test

This is an unusual episode. Hilary Langford puts podcast host Bernie K r under the Enneagram Microscope, where well entrenched patterns of behaviour formed in infancy are uncovered. These behavioural patterns still determine the current way Bernie sees and responds to the Game of Life. Yes, he is diagnosed as a number 3, the Achiever and the Performer, but what does that really mean and furthermore what is the potential cost to seeing every day in this larger-than-life way? While Bernie is well recognised for his desire to inspire ‘goodness’, the question will be raised as to whether his altruistic mission reflects an awakened man or one unconsciously driven by his own need to be loved. This episode will reveal.Of course, for you, the take home pay is obvious. In this episode, your're encouraged to use Bernie K as your own case study. Use this robust, revealing discussion to analyse and identify your own patterns of behaviour, which may influence your own perceptions and paradigms of the world you experience. Rarely has A Journey With Bernie and Chip been, so open, so authentic and so real as this one. We are so looking forward to your comments and feedback. Ep 7171. Coach Hilary Langford and the Enneagram

Our listeners love it, when A Journey With Bernie & Chip takes full advantage of the wisdom of the years and that's exactly what this episode does so abundantly. It's a one-hour chat with Hilary Langford, who at 75 years of age has most certainly experienced the fullness of life. She was born in India where she spent the first 7 years and even though that was 68 years ago, she can still recognise how those early years impacted her life to this day.Professionally, she has been a dynamo, where she has led 1000s of teambuilding workshops and leadership trainings for any number of local and global companies in so many countries. However, when it comes to identifying that one coaching instrument in which she is 'Queen', then you need to hear Hilary talk of the Enneagram. The Enneagram is a powerful self-awareness tool that allows any individual to recognise how the events and experiences of childhood helped to mould a pattern of responses that move with you throughout life. These 9 fundamental patterns, which effectively define how one sees and responds to the world, arise from the child's want for acceptance and approval from parents and one's immediate environment. The fascinating learning is that as they travel with us. They can work for us or against us for the rest of our life. Hilary Langford is an expert in facilitating the teachings and learnings that the Enneagram has taught for 18 centuries, when first conceived by a Christian mystic who lived in Alexandria, Egypt during the 4th century. So you can imagine, the value Hilary brings to this episode, as she shares with us how our layer of patterned responses can determine our own capacity to find joy and love for self and others. It makes this episode rich in 'take home pays'.Hilary is a storyteller. She loves to quote those who are even wiser than her (and there aren't too many). Couple this with her high degree of transparency and comfort with vulnerability and you have a listening experience that is engaging and ever so rich in valuable learnings. For example, in the final third of this interview, you will hear Hilary speak of the second love of her life. It is there that you will learn of some beautiful ingredients that inspire true 'treasured love' between dedicated partners. Then there was her discovery of space before busyness and why we are all born with a reservoir of love deep inside us. In Hilary's words, we were born as a gem ... a rare jewel ... a light of love. I sense these may well be the words and phrases you will use at the end of this episode to describe our beautiful guest. This podcast makes reference to a wonderful book which should be on your must-read list: 'Sapiens' by Yuval Noah Harari (ynharari.com) Please visit www.journeywithbernie.co to receive your FREE GIFT FOR YOU from our podcast guests.Chip's Take Home PayThe Enneagram Personality Test (truity.com)Enneagram Type Descriptions - The Enneagram InstituteHilary Langford welcomes your enquiry ... +61 417 797 374So too does Bernie and Chip ... +61 412 982 444

Ep 7070. A Light in the Slaughterhouse - The Father Joe Maier Story Through a Lingwood Lens

As a boy, I used to love stories of Mother Teresa and the depth of her compassion she gave to 'the poor'. I struggled to believe that such a Saint could even exist. Today, A Journey With Bernie & Chip with superb film maker and producer, James Lingwood, will offer you a male equivalent. In this episode, you will meet Father Joe Maier, an Irish-American Priest of the People, who for more than 50 years, has lived with and served the Klong Toey slums of Bangkok providing vulnerable children alternatives to and havens from violence, sex abuse, child trafficking, and prostitution. In the process, Father Joe has empowered Bangkok’s poorest families and communities to believe in their value. He has unified the Catholic, Buddhist and Muslim 'poor of the slum' to see their strength as one community. In return, they love him. That's not quite right, they adore him. He is their Jesus. Sometimes he is a very tough Jesus. These articles will validate the status of this great man.Joe Maier - WikipediaFather Joe, Bangkok’s Priest to the Poor, Thrives Among Fellow Outcasts - The New York Times (nytimes.com)You will read how Father Joe, together with the equally extraordinary Sister Maria and Sister Joan, have administered the ongoing refuge of The Mercy Centre, which has become a hub of grace, love and strength for all slum residents. Thirty-three schools inspired by Father Joe and his team now serve the needs of the slum children. These achievements are but a few. His lifetime achievement award presented by Her Majesty the Queen of Thailand says it all. His story must be told. There are stories in this episode that will strangle your emotions. There are stories in which I lost it. You too will struggle to remain composed. There are stories that will delight you. There are stories here that the whole world must know about, which is why James Lingwood is passionate about bringing a feature film of Father Joe's life into the hearts and lounge rooms of television viewers worldwide. Please watch the short 15-minute documentary Through The Eyes Of Children. It will give you a feel for the power and value of James Lingwood's film to come. Ep 6969. French Films, Jackie Chan and Thai Slums ... The Lens of Life with James Lingwood.

This is an outstanding episode. You are about to experience Life through a Camera Lens ... the Lens of Producer and Director James Lingwood. I asked Google to share with me what it knew of James and in reply, it first sent me this comment ... "There is no doubt that James pushes the envelope a lot further than most people. Throughout the years, I have worked with a lot of people in the production business, and I have not found anyone more professional, focused or creative than James. I have worked with him on the road for over 100 days and I'm so looking forward to the next 100."It was a testimonial quote from a Celebrity Presenter who James directed for months on end. Focused, Creative, Connectable, Driver, Making it Happen, Resilient, Spontaneous, Living in the Now ... You will hear the power of all of these qualities when they collectively fashion, mould and shape a life. This is what high profile actors like Jackie Chan and Geoffrey Rush so valued in James Lingwood. It is also why James has received over sixty film and television awards for his outstanding cinematography and why he is now only one of 85 members of the prestigious International Quorum of Motion Picture Producers in the USA. IQ membership can only be offered on the recommendation of a peer and consists of 80 plus of the world's most awarded film and television producer-directors from 45 countries. Just based on this resume, your appetite for this episode should be ravenous, but if you have the time to watch this short masterful film piece by James Lingwood, then you might start salivating ... https://bit.ly/slaughterhouse-dafEarly in this episode, you will hear of a film called VOYAGE OF THE GREAT SOUTHERN ARK in which James captured landscapes that were 4 Billion years old. Needless to say, James will teach you about the value and benefit of seeing yourself as insignificant. You will hear and understand how French Films of the 1980's sparked within James the power of spontaneity, creativity and innovation and provided a platform for James to explore the world one day at a time. You will hear what deep compassion looks like, when James shares with you the story of Fr Joe, the Irish priest working in the slums of Bangkok. You may feel a tear. This is a rich episode from a guest who in some ways actually lives the title of the book which features in this episode ... The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson ... yet on the other hand, its richness is in the power of James Lingwood to unselfishly share himself, his passion and his values through film inspired by his Lens view of Life.James Lingwood ... + 61 438 883 588 ... Ep 6868. At 42 years, society declared me BLIND and I am glad they did - the Narelle Gatti Story

The learning and the offerings from this episode with Narelle Gatti start with her rural upbringing. Listen to Narelle and you will hear over and over again a recurring theme that simply says ‘toughen up sister … shit happens … and move on’. It is the country way. However, one would have thought that when an individual at the age of 42, is officially declared so 'visually impaired' that all she can see are blurred shadowy movements, that they would experience ‘loss’, a little bit of ‘why me’ and have that tinge of feeling sorry for oneself. I am sure that to some extent Narelle must have had her moments, but no one would know it from the energetic, fully alive approach, that is this woman’s everyday demeanor. This mother of three ‘kicks ass’ and as per her farming heritage, she accepts the challenge and nothing is going to stop her from experiencing the fullness of life. Consequently, she, with her family, her beautiful guide dog and her cane, leave for Europe very soon. The messages of this episode are clear … It’s not what happens to you that determines the quality of your life, it is how you respond and move forward. It doesn’t matter the circumstance, your integrity is uncompromisable. If you want to help disabled or marginalised persons, don’t assume ‘they can’t … they can and most, want you to foster their independence. If you want understand more about LOVE, than study Narelle’s Guide Dog! It is a relationship about ‘being there for each other’, built on total trust and celebrated joy. Three ingredients which Narelle suggests probably has a place in all human relationships as well! Ep 6767. If you want self-love then first shoot yourself with a Taser Gun! ... Ben Hosking

The value of people like Ben Hosking and Tim Alexander (Episode 61) is that they help one to understand why your capacity to assert and your confidence to stand up for what is right is an essential contribution to a world of peace and equity. Furthermore, you can't help but notice hnotice that in people like Ben and Tim, they exhibit such a strong, balanced persona. They instinctively know what is important, and what is trivial. They simply don't sweat the 'small stuff'. This of course means they are less distracted giving them more time, more space to choose joy in their life. It has been such a pleasure to not only understand the value of this quality, but to see it in action. As both Ben and Tim suggest ... it may well be your ability to deliver 'tough love' that actually determines how effective you are in spreading your own 'goodness' and value to others. You will hear this message loud and clear in this Episode with the extraordinary Ben Hosking.Ben Hosking is an 11-year veteran with the Northern Territory Police. To hear his story of one of his first 'call outs' to address a domestic violence incident in Tennant Creek is both enlightening and hilarious given that he 'tased' himself not the perpetrator. It is the way he tells the story, that will so entertain you. However, let not his humorous description of this one encounter hide the fact that you are meeting an extraordinary talent and highly skilled human. Ben Hosking is an expert dealing with High-Risk Domestic Crime and Counter Terrorism. He is accomplished in Dignitary Protection having provided safe environments and passage for Manny Pacquaio during his 'Battle of Brisbane' boxing bout with Jeff Horn, and for HRH Prince Harry and Prince William during their visits to Australia. He has frequently attracted extraordinary assignments offering close personal protection for Ultra High Net Worth individuals and their families. His story of protecting such a family as they played on the beach of a Pacific Island on one of their holiday ventures is delightful. As 'Chip' points out, Ben gives us insights into the lives of the 'rich and famous' and helps us realize that there is little value for ourselves or for them when we choose to idolise.Such a different brilliant episode. For the ultimate in personal security protection ... Ep 6666. Mary Scott ... A Queen of Wisdom and Truth for those starting again!

The name Viktor Frankl is forever attached to the profound book ... MAN'S SEARCH FOR MEANING. If you haven't read it, then you have missed out on the greatest of life lessons. It is a wisdom bible. It is compulsory reading. To purchase the book, simply go online and type in its title or watch this video ... MAN'S SEARCH FOR MEANING BY VIKTOR FRANKL (youtube.com)It was Victor Frankl who said, "We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts, comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms – to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way."Mary Scott could have been an ally to the great Austrian Psychiatrist for she too saw humankind's choice to respond to deeply deprived states. It wasn't Auschwitz, but it was Nauru, a Pacific Island and an offshore Australian Immigration Detention Facility. It was there that she saw people give up and take their own lives. They had lost purpose. She witnessed those whose behavior became depraved in the face of perceived hopelessness and it was there that she also saw greatness in those who refused to let their environment determine their identity. Mary Scott had an experience of Viktor Frankl in action.Mary is a Godsend for so many women who find themselves in the second half of life seeking a fresh start. They have done their childbearing. They have contributed to society and now they seek a new existence, but where do they start? Enter Mary Scott, a trained Psychotherapist and 'Confidence Coach' who teaches them to first manage that voice inside which questions their possibilities. Mary helps them to turn down the volume on the voice that says they are not good enough. In her own words, "What a joy it is to watch them come out of the shadows, to reclaim their power and to discover a greater self."This born storyteller is about to delight, educate and turn on your light switch. Ep 6565. Ladies and Gents... Introducing 'The Routine Champion of the World'... Dane Beauchamp!

This episode is a paradox. We explore possibilities of finding more love for self, life and people with one of the great Australian Muay Thai fighters of our time ... Dane ‘Daddy Kool’ Beauchamp and he certainly lived up to his reputation. Dane in this episode was very 'Kool'. It's so easy to speak about his record in which he won more than 80% of his fights and his achievements in winning Australian and Intercontinental belts are folklore, but his famous victories are not the real story. As Dane himself says, 'It was the dedication to training and routine that earnt the 'kudos'. I reckon most of my training sessions were harder than my fights.'At one stage of his fight career, Dane was so good that no one in his weight division would fight him. He had to put on 4 kgs of muscle without losing his trademark speed and footwork just to find worthy opponents. Changing the shape of his body was tough dedicated work. He trained every day. His discipline was legendary, and this is where Dane offered us so much."Being disciplined is the ultimate self-love."Wait till you hear what Dane has to say at the 20-minute mark about the importance of routine, discipline, effort, energy life and self-love. It's not for me to elaborate on his message, it's up to you to absorb a wisdom so profound. In addition, the metaphor Dane offered comparing life to the continuous mental battle between throwing your own punches while running the risk of being hit hard by life was powerful. The way he explains why attacking life is so much more important than worrying how hard it will hit you is insightful. His reasoning is so insightful. It sort of reminded me of the old Rocky Balboa clip where 'The Rock' had this to say to his protecting, safe and conservative son ... Rocky's Inspirational Speech to His Son | ROCKY BALBOA (youtube.com)It's almost ironic that we could learn so much about love for self and life through a pugilist, but it is Dane's constant dedication to the battle which allows him to understand life so much more than most. Ep 6464. 'Nature is God' by Louise Bennet ... One poem ... one woman ... one BENEFIT.

What a joy it is to bring Louise Bennet back to you, although as you will learn in this episode, the host of the show errs on a number of occasions by Freudianly calling her Louise BENEFIT!! Well, was it a humble mistake or was Bernie sincerely giving Louise a new identity that summarises what she truly gives us? Afterall, your feedback from previous episodes suggests that Louise B has already brought incredible worth to over 8000 listeners. While this episode only covers one more additional poem, the conversation it created is so enlightening. Her poem is called 'Nature is God' and I can honestly say that the insight of this incredible 34-year-old woman might give you the virtual evidence you need to be convinced we are all connected. Louise explains that the plants, the trees, the animals and humanity consume the same air, the same sunlight and same water sources. These elements shape all living things. Whatever is the Force of Nature that created the beasts of the savannah or the fish of the deep seas is the same force that created us. We are all part of Nature. As we look to the stars at nighttime, we see Nature once again on display. It is everywhere. Is it part of us? Does it flow through us. Is it within us? Is it us ? One poem ... one woman ... one clear definitive answer. With the added intelligence of Chip as co-host, this discussion reaches liberating heights which support the Vincent Freeman adage, who once said ... "They say every atom in our bodies was once a part of a star. Maybe, I'm not leaving. Maybe I'm going home". I suspect you will have a question to answer at the end of this episode !!Bernie K +61 412 982 444 ... [email protected] ... Ep 6363. Louise Bennet - Her POEMS Captured Her Cancerous Journey and Now Coach Us About Life!

Episode 60 will tell you the story of a girl, who was sexually traumatised between the ages of 11 to 13. It will explain how her experience inspired a constant feeling that the world was unsafe. The only way, that a teenage Louise Bennet could cope was to combat that feeling by becoming EVERYONE'S PROTECTOR. The problem was that Louise's friends and romantic interests didn't want a Protector. Consequently, her relationships often ended in strain, stress and struggle. She even blames the demise of her young marriage on her overprotective ways, although she is thankful that her married years gave her a most precious daughter. Instinctively, Louise knew that this trauma inspired behavior was suffocating her life. Little did she know that it was in fact destroying her cells. That's what Louise believes. Louise was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. As the photo shows, it has already taken her right mammary. Yet, her response to this arduous, chaotic and painful journey has led to her discovery of her higher true self. She is now a person driven by love as a purpose. In episode 60, you met an ANGEL OF JOY already on the pathway to becoming a liberated person ... and there of course lays the paradox. The learnings from that episode were profound, but little did we know that virtually her entire adult journey has been documented in the form of brilliant, graphic, extraordinary poetry and prose. Each poem extraordinarily captures the state, the fight, the light that Louise was experiencing in that moment. Each poem is a precious gift describing life in that moment. The learnings encapsulated in Louise's writings are powerful and potent. This is a unique episode, in which a young woman shares her most private writings, so that you the listener may discover wisdoms without encountering the potential torment that has intruded Louise's life. Still, the miracle needs to be understood. Why is it that Louise doesn't it see as an unworthy intervention? Her cancer is welcome, as it sheds the trauma of her past leaving her to see the beauty and the love that truly defines her.If you would like a copy of Louise's extraordinary anthology of poems heard on this podcast plus an understanding of what she was teaching us, then simply text Bernie on +61 412982444 or email him on ... Ep 6262. Margarita Stowers - I Once Was Homeless ... Now, 'The Angel of the Street' has fed 20000 of them.

There is a little bit of Mother Teresa in this episode. It was she who understood that through physical suffering, one can enhance their spiritual strength. Consequently, it is exactly how her 'Missionaries of Charity Sisters' live. To call them 'minimalists' would be an understatement. They virtually live as the 'poor', so that they can understand and fully respect the very people they serve. In addition, living without 'worldly conveniences' inspires them to find their happiness and joy from within. Today's guest resonates with that inner journey from suffering to spiritual contentment.Margarita Aunei-Stowers is the Founder and CEO of a remarkable charity called Giv3 Our Time. They feed the Homeless with food, love and hope. After you hear her story and the unrelenting purpose of her life, you will at the least, want to donate, so joyfully I give you access to their website via their donation page ... www.giv3ourtime.com/donate/ ... you must visit it.Margarita certainly knows suffering. She felt suffering when she too lived without shelter in the deadly Vines St, Sunset Bvld and Argyle Ave of Hollywood. That was terrifying. She encountered a deep suffering, when with her fellow 'Homies', she too received the daily gift of 'isolation' from a world that arrogantly walked silently by. Does anybody really care? Who cares? This was a powerful mental and emotional suffering. She suffered every time she had to ask permission to use a bathroom or to enter a grocery store for nothing but basics. This was the suffering of being harshly judged for not having a shower. She experienced the suffering of not knowing how to pick herself up and rise again, of not knowing where to turn ... this was the suffering of 'no hope', which was her existence for many years both in the avenues of Los Angeles and streets of Brisbane.Somehow, someway, Margarita was able to find a pathway out. Maybe it was her faith relationship with God, founded at a very early age, that kept her searching. Maybe it was the thousands of muttered prayers murmured through the trembling lips of her beautiful and believing mother. Who knows from where Margarita's resolve came, but somehow, she eventually found a simple shelter here in the Brisbane bayside suburb of Wynnum. She is thankful.Time and gratitude have now allowed her to convert the sufferings of her past into a deep spiritual richness. Her passion is unstoppable now, as she feeds the 'Homeless' of Southeast Queensland with heart, belief and some good old Aussie tucker, that invites the 'Homeless' to smile, to open up, to share, to solve, as they joyfully feed their undernourished bodies. So far, her data suggests, she and her devoted team have fed 20000 such marginalized citizens so far. For many of them, Margarita has become their Mother Teresa. Her work appears to be endless with the arrival of new persons into Central Brisbane streets at an alarming rate. In her words, we all are suffering a crisis. This is why, she will more than appreciate your donation. It helps. However, more than that she actually wants the currency of your personal energy and time. She wants you to call her and volunteer ... work with her ... even if just for an hour a week. She wants businesses large and small, to offer their goods and actively get involved as part of the solution. She seeks to educate the ignorant ... to help humble people like you and I to understand that all things are impermanent and that 'the people of the street' are really your brother or your sister in disguise. No-one is immune from the possibility of this desolate, isolating, homeless outcome.Prepare yourself for one heck of a ride dear listeners, and as you approach the end of this podcast make sure your phone is handy, because you will want to call or text the mobile number of this 'Angel of the Street' ... Ep 6161. Tim Alexander - Why Love and Aggression Are Brother and Sister!

As we journey towards becoming a more loving human being, every story offers a new consideration. This episode with International Krav Maga expert, Tim Alexander, will be forever remembered for giving us the notion that Love and Aggression not only can co-exist, but in fact may be blood relatives! If we are to inspire greater peace across the human race, Tim would suggest that without the ability to defend and assert, your capacity to love may even be rendered useless. You may have heard the term 'tough love'. Think of parents who must say 'No' to their child when the pressure is on to give them what they want. The assertion is 'tough'. The reason behind a parent's strong stance is protection, security and love of their child. What about the times when the same child sees close friends being bullied in the playground? Do they love their comrade enough to take a stance against the oppressor? The assertive stance reflects the loving connection between two friends. How many times does an injustice call for a voice?Does our want to inspire a loving spirit demand that we speak the uncommon truth? The paradox! Love and Assertion. Love and Aggression. Love and Violence. All part of the same family. This is the message of Tim Alexander, a strong Christian man, who teaches a potent self-defence system called Krav Maga. Developed for the Israel Defense Forces, it is derived from a combination of techniques used in Aikido, Judo, Karate, Boxing, and Wrestling. Tim is one of the world elite instructors. He is so accomplished that his coaching skill is called upon by Law Enforcement, Tactical Shooting, and the Military. As an Expert Level 4 instructor, he is the only person in the Southern Hemisphere with that rank. He is amongst the global best. But it is as a man of peace that Tim explains how the confidence to protect oneself against angry or threatening foes means a greater capacity to meet all situations with a calm, assured and strong mind. It diminishes the need to flee. It reduces the need to fight, but if necessary, it also enhances one's capacity to assert, to aggress with strength, and consequently resolve and facilitate solution. For the first time in 60 episodes of A Journey With Bernie...and Chip, Love and Aggression have found unity. Be prepared to be intrigued. The Book of Joy by Douglas Abrams with the Dalia llama was recommended in this podcast. Ep 6060. Louise Bennet - How do you have Cancer, yet love it ??

It's not very often that you meet AN ANGEL OF JOY. We're talking of someone who may be divinely blessed. One thing is certain. Louise Bennet is a rare human being. As you listen to this episode, you will find it hard to believe how this single mother of the gorgeous 4-year-old Evie could be so joyous, so sustainably happy and so accepting of the vagrancies of life. Louise Bennet is the fullness of life personified, and it is not a brave fascade. It is her discovery ... her mindful and purposeful response to sexual trauma between the age of 11 and 13, the demise of a marriage, the 'consequential' diagnosis of breast cancer and the recent surgical loss of her right breast. We say 'consequential' because Louise is adamant that THE BODY KEEPS THE SCORE. Not only does she strongly advocate the book ... The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma: van der Kolk M.D., Bessel: 9780143127741: Amazon.com: Books ... she knows from personal experience that hanging onto past traumas has manifested itself in cancerous ways. What's more, she is happy about it!! With full belief that other chapters of her life are ahead, Louise feels blessed that her current situation has embedded a lifestyle that fosters inner joy, greater confidence, and a powerful connection with what Louise calls 'Source'. Others might call it Spirit, God, Essence, Force etc. To Louise it doesn't matter what one calls it, the challenge for all of our lives is to be 'the spirit' that lives inside each and every one of us. Having discovered this pathway, it seems difficult for Louise to consider anything else as more important, other than becoming the most loving human being she can possible be and to be that love as mother to Evie. But the most remarkable outcome of all is that Louise is succeeding in her mission. Ep 5959. Brittany Rojas ... A Vipassana Journey from Traumatic Childhood to Hope on the Camino

I travelled to Kathmandu, Nepal last December to trek the incredible Langtang Valley. If you have ever seen the Netflix documentary called 'AFTERSHOCK', you would know this region's incredible story during and following the Earthquakes of 2015 ... Watch Aftershock: Everest and the Nepal Earthquake | Netflix Official Site. I also had another mission ... to participate for the third time in the 10-day silent meditation retreat known globally as VIPASSANA ... Vipassana Meditation (dhamma.org). Supposedly, it is the process used by Siddhartha Gautama to find 'enlightenment' and consequently become the spiritual leader we all know as 'Buddha'. Two hundred participants wondered as I did. Would the ambience and the potency of this VIPASSANA programme be different than other global centers, given that the programme was being delivered in the birth country of 'Lord Buddha' himself. We were not disappointed. The experience was, if you will excuse the pun ... mind-freeing. For Brittany Rojas from Miami, Florida, a Flight Attendant with American Airlines Business Class Operations, it was transformational. This podcast explains how. If there is one thing that A JOURNEY WITH BERNIE ... and CHIP has come to know in its first 50 plus episodes is that life seems to delight in inflicting a traumatic challenge upon all at some stage of their years on this Earth. In Brittany's case, life has possibly been unfair. It has overworked this young lady beyond reason. Her story will be deemed as shocking by some but listen intently and you will quickly move past the tears to periods of joy and celebration, as you hear of Brittany's courage, her fight and her ardent commitment to maximise her life regardless of past chaos. Prepare for an extraordinary story right up there with our very very best. You will probably cry with Brittany, but you will also feel her hope. You will enjoy her too. Brittany is full of life and has some strong advices for everyone, including our politicians and national leaders. It makes sense too! The Camino of Spain has been a contributor to Brittany's redemption and she thinks it should be a prepatory ground for true leadership. You will learn how this VIPASSANA experience is already reshaping her view of her life. She is now seeing that the potent pain of her life to date is just part of her journey ... nothing more ... nothing less. She is thankful for the notion of IMPERMANENCE so crucial to being able to release herself from suffering and being grateful for her many gifts. Be prepared to be inspired. Be prepared to shed a tear. Be prepared to be awakened for this next hour will certainly enrich your life.Brittany Rojas INSTAGRAM: brittany.biancaBernie K INSTAGRAM: berniekelly103 M: +61 412 982 444 E: [email protected] 'Chip' Lachlan Huddy M: +61 410 603 336

Ep 5757. Donna-Leigh Perfect Witnessed Her Mother’s Murder. Now it generates LIFE!

Incredibly, Donna-Leigh Perfect is a profound advocate of GRATEFULNESS. In the lead up to this podcast, I asked Donna-Leigh 'For what are you grateful in your life NOW', she simply inferred, 'I am grateful for the adventure of life. I wake up every morning not knowing what might unfold in any one day ... not knowing how life might tease me in the next 24 hours ... This makes life exciting ... a beautiful engrossing adventure.'This means that her fear of what life has in store is greatly diluted. She is ready to embrace whatever. It also means that she can live so easily in the moment, not needing for life to change, even when the moment challenges her.Donna-Leigh has learnt how to maximise every day. What is truly remarkable is that she has come to see life this way in spite of life dealing her the toughest of cards. Donna-Leigh was just seven years old when she witnessed her father drive a knife into the body of her mother. Minutes later, she watched her father being driven away in the back of a police car arrested for her mother's murder. She and her twin then became separated from her 3 siblings and over the next 5 years she endured torment and abuse in 13 different foster homes. She felt worthless, unloved, abandoned and alone. Circumstances gave her the opportunity to re-join her Father and her siblings in the same home where the murder took place 6 years earlier. It was mayhem, living with a schizophrenic, tortured, alcoholic soul. Donna-Leigh was at his bedside when her Father passed away from alcohol induced health issues. All of these experiences culminated in one momentous night where Donna-Leigh faced with mounting drug dependency, simply asked herself, 'Do I want to live'? She rang Lifeline. In her own beautiful words, what rescued Donna-Leigh was the realisation that her traumatic childhood experiences HAPPENED TO HER NOT BECAUSE OF HER. It was a simple recognition that the events of her life did not need to define her. In fact, the meaning of her past experiences could be reframed to create greater purpose and greater life. Donna-Leigh became a Lifeline Suicide Prevention Counsellor, where she actively played a role in transforming the lives of the abused, the lonely and the traumatized. In reality, her life as a Counsellor, still exists today, but in a slightly different form. She is a world class keynote speaker. Her unique P.E.A.C.E tools and her Resilient Rockstar stage show are opening up the eyes of children and adults alike to recognise ways of handling bullying and resilience. Her children's books are a pleasure, a delight and profound life guidance for all who embrace them. Quite simply, Donna-Leigh's coaching should be a must in every school. Ep 5656. John Coutis - Colourful, Offensive and In Your Face...and You Will Be So Thankful!

John Coutis is the most colourful character ever to grace the airwaves of A Journey With Bernie, (mind you JJ in Episode 34 comes a very close second). He uses the F word frequently. He strongly advised me to stop going too DEEP before we had started the podcast and he will tell you the listeners to embrace being offended. 'It builds resilience and creates a thick skin ... get used to it'. This is the way of the inspirational John Coutis. For all of his 'in your face' nuances, it's ever so easy to admire, enjoy and applaud this great Aussie larrakin. Part of the reason why you will do so is because even before he speaks, John's presence will send you a powerful message. You see, John ‘JC’ Coutis was born with a severe disability that rendered him a double amputee. He lives and moves without legs, yet has developed an unshakeable belief in his self-worth. His confidence is top shelf. Before he even 'let's it rip on you', he reminds you of your immense blessings and infinite possibilities just by meeting him. You can do so on A JOURNEY WITH BERNIE YouTube channel right now. John learnt about our 'capacity for immense resilience' almost from the moment of his birth. He defied medical opinion by refusing to die. Then as a young boy, he welcomed his Father's advice to be grateful for what he has, not what he doesn't. Fueled by a childhood of love, belief, and discipline, John refused to crumble under his handicap and societal pressure by embracing and maximising life, and that is now his message to all. 'Start living life fully with or without your handicaps. We have all got them!'.It's little wonder he has become one of the most sought-after inspirational speakers in the country. Hundreds of thousands per year are enthralled by his powerful messages delivered on stages all over the globe from his trusty skateboard. In this episode you hear him for free. You are fortunate people, but ...Expect to have a mirror put in front of your face. Take a good look. John would say that is your competitor.Expect to squirm. That might be because John fearlessly speaks the uncommon truth. It can make people uncomfortable.Expect to hear stories in which you will feel he is talking about you. He has an uncanny way of knowing what are your handicaps and making you realise them.If you are parents, be prepared for some powerful truths. You may discover you are a Lawnmower Parent. I hope not, but if you are, John wants you to recognise and change immediately.Expect to be offended. Embrace it. This is the way of John Coutis and we are privileged that such a soul exists to hit us over the head and awaken us from our slumber so that we too can appreciate every moment of life irrespective of the fortunes of life. Ep 5454. Marc Nuss Gives 13,500 Reasons to Celebrate DESTINY RESCUE

This episode is one of our very BEST. The background is dark. The primary topic is evil, ignorant and sinister. The victims are children. Yet, the forces that have rescued 13500 children from child exploitation and sex trafficking is one driven by immense LOVE, PURPOSE and relentless COMMITMENT to right this injustice. Open up the website of Destiny Rescue and you will read a remarkable story of Tony Kirwan who overheard a man in Thailand gloating about sex with a child. Picturing children of his own, Tony responded to his immediate calling to create an organisation that would hear the children's voices and free them from atrocious predators. Even more remarkably, 'Destiny Rescue' rehabilitates the children, helps them to see beyond their ordeal and build lives that can add value to their new world. Telling this story in this podcast is one of their 'faithful servants', the beautiful and the compassionate MARC NUSS. It's not often, I comfortably use words like 'beautiful and compassionate' to describe this strong and solid 'Springbok', but Marc is a rare man. The number of times his stories inspired my eyes to water were too many. You will know when I was choking with emotion when my responses softened to unusually quieter tones. The YouTube visual version of this podcast will be fascinating viewing for you.Heh, be assured, you too will struggle to hold it back, when you hear stories of '# 43' ... the little girl picked from the line up by a burly European who saw her as nothing more than a product and the young lady whose face shrivelled with fear when she learnt he paid more for the celebratory beer than he did for the beauty of her diminutive body. These are stories that stir unsavoury emotion but awaken your spirit. In reality, Marc's soul was probably already moulded and shaped some years ago, when he watched a man leave the prison gates of Robbin Island to become the first post-apartheid President of a free South Africa. Nelson Mandela influenced Marc's want to make the world a better place. Now that's a pretty good mentor!Through this 'dare not leave' discussion, you will feel both disgusted and buoyed. You will feel sadness and joy. You will feel delighted that such an organisation led by great people like Marc Nuss exists. You will be inspired by what they as rescuers have learnt about life and people. You will hear that life and purpose are relatives. Even until the day we pass, Marc believes we must be driven by purpose. Victor Frankl and 'Man's Search for Meaning' would agree. You will hear from Marc that our capacity to love has no limits and that by the end of our days, we will come to learn that it really is the only thing that matters.A Journey With Bernie is very proud to bring you this episode. It certainly makes us feel that the podcast is now entering a new dimension. We advocate to you that if you are moved by this 64-minute dialogue, that you immediately visit .... www.destinyrescue.org.au ... you will see the DONATE button. It's a no brainer. If you abhor the thought of children being exploited in any way let alone sexually, you simply must donate, which of course is a 'love in action' example that Marc Nuss calls for in this podcast. Please call Marc 0429 701 729 to show your support and ascertain how you can contributeBernie K +61 412 982 444A Journey With Bernie on Instagram: @berniekelly103

Ep 5353. Reena Augustine - The Indian Motor Mechanic Who Became an Australian Mother Teresa

Reena Augustine is a unique woman of the world in her early 30's. She certainly is not the norm. As a woman of Indian origin, she reminds me of one of the sisters from Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata. They are walking love. Reena is similar, but with two differences. The prayerful life of the Sisters tends to calm them a little. Reena is exuberant and mightily enthusiastic!Secondly, the Sisters have chosen a life of love for one man ... Jesus. Unlike the sisters, Reena doesn't want to see everybody as her brother and her sister, because one of those brothers has to eventually become her husband. Wait till you hear that discussion in the opening of the show. Hilarious!!Apart from those differences, Reena and the Sisters are both LOVE personified. So, from where does her innate joy arise. You know, I am not sure Reena entirely knows, but as the podcast unfolds, you will hear her identify experiences that have entrenched within her this extraordinary abundance of life, love and joy.In her early teens she lost her beloved father and welcomed the responsibility of working to earn necessary monies to support her mother and family. This moulded her service. In her late teens, she leaves her home in Western India to pursue studies as a Motor Mechanic here in Australia. Yes, that's right folks ... a motor mechanic. Have a look at the profile pic and imagine such 'a glamour' performing 'a grease and oil change'! But as soon as she bravely stepped off the plane into a Brisbane Christmas of 38 degrees, she knew she had found a new home. This shaped her courage to be bold. Over the next 5 years, she would ensure that Australia would come to know who is Reena Augustine. That's her message to all migrants. Tell Australia who are you! Don't hide in a suburb with your cultural countrypersons. Embrace all Australians. Reena has and they have embraced her with multiple business awards and recognitions. The little girl from Western India has created her own 'Not for Profit' called Red Carpet Functions. It bridges gaps. It facilitates connection and it gives migrants to our country the courage to embrace their new home. They love her for it.Rarely, do you see one so fully alive every day. Take a look at her Instagram account reenaaugustine - joy abounds! So much so, that she even has doubters that it is real! This she finds hard to understand because for her 'being happy' should be normal for all. Shouldn't it?Maybe it was because her native India gave her so many tastes of death, that she is so aware of never taking life for granted. Her phrase 'wear your best clothes today' is a line that will forever define this Episode 53.I have no doubt that your spirits are about to be raised by this discussion. Through Reena, you will develop a new love ALL PEOPLE, but particularly the elderly and their wisdoms. You may even see the value of a Christmas afternoon at a 'Home for the Aged'. Maybe you should join Reena this Christmas! For sure, you will understand what it means to adopt LOVE as a WAY OF LIFE for that is the way of REENA AUGUSTINE, the Motor Mechanic from India who will give you a joyful taste of 'Mother Teresa' love and exuberance. You are about to become very happy.Reena Augustine and Red Carpet Functions: Ph: +61 401 229 866Bernie K: +61 412 982 444 - [email protected]
