Ep 282282: You Don't Have to be Good at Something for It to be Worthwhile [Hidden Gem]

Announcment: I’m so excited to announce that I am finally turning my Declutter Your Motherhood workshop into an online workshop that will be available for purchase in the next month or so. if you want to get on the email list to stay up-to-date on when the course will be released and all the details to come, all you need to do is text the word WAITLIST to 33777 *** Welcome to Hidden Gems, a special series of the 3 in 30 podcast. This week, we are sharing an excerpt from Episode 174, Why to Try a Creative Hobby (Even if You Think You’ll Stink at It) with Lisa Funk. Lisa is the founder of HandLettered Design and mother of four. She has struggled with depression and anxiety and has discovered a variety of tools that have helped her reclaim her happiness and her mental health, namely through creativity and hand lettering. I love how this takeaway goes along with Alli Roper’s episode that aired on Monday about why to continue learning as a busy mom, and that your brain is not mush. I knew I wanted to air this takeaway from Lisa as more encouragement that creating and learning just for fun is so important. We want that for our kids, and this takeaway gives you permission to want that for yourself as well. And while Lisa focuses on creating with your hands, I believe you can apply it to reading, writing, listening to a podcast, or learning or creating in any way that brings you joy. I hope this excerpt gives you encouragement, permission, or even a laugh as she talks about her love and commitment to dance parties at home, not because she’s particularly good at dancing, but solely because dancing is FUN. Introducing "Motherhood Meets Medicine" Podcast

This is a surprise mini-episode as part of a fun series where I introduce you to other wonderful podcasts that might bless and benefit your life. These shows are all produced by or part of the podcast network that I am apart of, Cloud10 Media. It has been so rewarding for me to collaborate with other podcasters who are working hard to get their important messages out into the world. The show I am featuring today is called Motherhood Meets Medicine. The Motherhood Meets Medicine Podcast is a space that brings all women together. It's for those who hope to be a mom one day, those who are already mothers, and mothers of mothers. The host, Lynzy, is a Physician Assistant in the Emergency Department where she has practiced medicine for the last 12 years. She brings in experts with formal training to cover everything about motherhood ranging from postpartum issues to feeding babies to managing toddler tantrums. This podcast provides candid, informal interviews that you can listen to while you're driving to work, folding laundry or whatever else your busy day may bring. For today's mini-episode, we are airing a clip with an interview from Chemical Engineer and Food Scientist, Erin, or “Food Science Babe” as she’s known throughout her social media channels. As a mom, do you ever feel confused about what you should be feeding your kids? The health and wellness industry can sometimes feel very fear-based, and it’s nice to get a breakdown from a professional on what’s actually happening. In this clip, Erin discusses what’s required to label foods organic and debunking the myth that food grown organically are always safer or more nutritious. You are going to want to listen this excerpt from the Motherhood Meets Medicine podcast, and then head on over to their feed to listen to the entire episode! **Listen to the full episode here, and subscribe to Motherhood Meets Medicine here.

Ep 270270: Simplifying Mom-Life // Chanelle Neilson

Mom-life often feels anything BUT simple. Managing toddler tantrums, managing work deadlines, managing sick kids who call from school and mess up those work deadlines, managing emotional and behavioral needs… Is there a way to just simplify all of this? To cut through the noise and the distraction and gain more clarity around what actually needs to be done and what we can let go? Today's guest, Chanelle Neilson, is going to share some really tangible ideas for us on how to do just that. Ep 268268: More Peace, Less Frustration: The Power of Family Systems // Susie Salinas

I have to admit upfront that I chose today's episode topic as the very first topic we would cover in 2023 for a slightly selfish reason: I chose to invite my friend Susie Salinas to come on the show to talk about family systems because this is the only goal I have set myself for this new year. In 2023, I want to invest some major focus and energy into getting good systems in place for the management of my home and family life: laundry, bedtimes, meal prep, grocery shopping, tidying, dishes, and morning routines are just a few of the areas where the Nielson family could use a serious reboot of our family systems. II am excited to take these challenges one at a time and focus on creating better systems to help them run well in our home. Ep 256256: Why "Unsexy" Elections Matter and How to Get Involved as a Busy Mom // Laney Hawes

I want to thank you for seeing an episode title that mentioned elections and thinking, "Yeah, I want to listen to this. I can give thirty minutes of my busy week to learning more about this." Sometimes easier to put your head down and focus on the to-do list in front of you than it is to learn about politics. Although it might not seem as immediately applicable to your motherhood as an episode on how to manage a tantrum or a rebellious teenager, the political atmosphere and policies in our communities and schools does matter tremendously in our lives and the lives of our children, so thank you for listening in. Today’s guest is Laney Hawes. I have been blessed by her effusive love for people and her passionate opinions on the world. I love learning from her, and I am so honored to share her with all of you via 3 in 30. Ep 252252: Sanctify Your Soul-Care

Announcement: Today is THE day, my friends. For weeks, I have been mentioning that the Self-Assured Motherhood Program, or SAM as I like to call it, would be opening for enrollment soon, and I am excited to announce that doors for enrollment are OPEN now and will close again on Friday, September 23rd. This nine-month program only opens once per year, so if this has been tugging at your heart, please don't wait or talk yourself out of it. The first step is to sign up to attend a free online class that I will be teaching several times live over the next two weeks. This isn't just a sales webinar…this is actually the first class of my nine-month curriculum, so you can get a taste of what the program is like, even if you aren't sure you can commit to the entire program. Just go to 3in30podcast.com/freeclass to sign up, and the first class is tonight if you are listening to this episode on the day it comes out, so don't wait. I will be offering the same class several more times, so whenever you are listening to this episode, go to 3in30podcast.com/freeclass to find out more. *** In honor of the Self-Assured Motherhood Program enrollment opening today, we are going to talk about one of the nine foundational topics that we explore in this program. When I emailed the alumni of the program and asked which topic had had the most impact on them personally, so many of them mentioned this unit- Sanctify Your Soul-Care, and they shared with me super poignant and powerful stories of how they had applied this concept into their lives, so I actually invited three of those women to come on the podcast today to share those stories with all of you--because I think every mom could probably use some help in this area. Introducing the "Minimal-ish" Podcast

Hello friends! This is a surprise mini-episode as part of a fun new series I am doing once a month where I introduce you to other wonderful podcasts that might bless and benefit your life. These shows are all produced by or part of the podcast network that I am apart of, Cloud10 Media. It has been so rewarding for me to collaborate with other podcasters who are working hard to get their important messages out into the world. Today I am excited to share a little bit about the show Minimal-ish. Minimal-ish is a podcast about striving to live with less of the things that don't matter, more of what does, and pursuing intention in every area of our everyday lives and motherhood. The host, Desirae talks about a realistic version of minimalism that isn't just about simplifying our stuff, but also the other areas of our lives like our calendars, routines, mindset, motherhood, work, finances, and everything in between. Desirae is a mom to two girls (4 months and 4 years), a high school English teacher, and has been podcasting since 2018. Her passion is sharing what she is learning on the journey of living with less stuff and more intention, along with making space for others to share their stories as well. For today’s mini episode, we are airing a clip about how oftentimes, clutter represents unmade decisions. Desirae poses some questions to ask yourself while decluttering any area of your home like: Is this item useful to me? Have I used this item in the past in the 1-2 months? Do I have plans to use this item in the near future? Do I have space for this item? Is it a gift? In this clip, you get an idea of Desirae’s thought process for making decisions that we have been putting off, and evaluating what’s really worth keeping. I’m so glad to be sharing this excerpt from the Minimal-ish podcast. After you listen, be sure to head over to the Minimal-ish feed to listen to the entire episode, which I will link in the show notes so it's easy for you to find. So with no further ado, here is a clip from Desirae of the Minimal-ish Podcast! Click here to listen on Apple Or listen in any podcast app!

Ep 247247: How do I get my kids to go to bed?? // Becca Campbell

When my kids were babies and toddlers, we had a rock-solid bedtime routine that my husband and I were completely in control of. We picked our babies up and went through our night-time routine before placing them in their cribs. But now that my kids are older, they push back way more on bedtime, especially in the summer when it stays light outside so late. It's hard for me to know if I should monitor every step of their bedtime routine so I can keep them moving along or if I should give them more privacy and independence. With the new school year approaching, and needing to get back to a routine, I called in a sleep expert to interview on the podcast today. Becca Campbell is a certified pediatric sleep consultant and the CEO and founder of Little Z’s Sleep (www.littlezsleep.com) and The Sleep Sorority. She has guided tens of thousands of families through the exhausting world of getting your child to sleep and is trusted by pediatric clinics and medical specialists across the country. Becca is also the host of the #3 globally-ranked pediatric podcast, Little Z's Sleep Podcast, and her expertise has been featured in outlets like Parents magazine, NBC news, yahoo!Life, and Toddler Purgatory. As a CEO, wife, and mother of two, she understands the importance of restful, restorative sleep, so she’s dedicated to helping families prioritize good sleep. Introducing the "Simple Families" Podcast

This is a surprise mini-episode as part of a fun new series I am going to be doing once a month where I introduce you to other wonderful podcasts that might bless and benefit your life. These shows are all produced by or part of the podcast network that I am apart of, Cloud10 Media. It has been so rewarding for me to collaborate with other podcasters who are working hard to get their important messages out into the world. The show I am featuring today is a podcast that I love called Simple Families, which I have been listening to for several years. The host Denaye Barahona is a mother of two who also has a PhD in child psychology, so as she says in her podcast intro, "you're going to hear conversations that are based in research but more importantly real life." Simple Families is a podcast for parents who are seeking a simpler, more intentional life, covering topics such as minimalism with kids, positive parenting, family wellness, and decreasing the mental load. For today's mini-episodes, I hand-picked an excerpt from Denaye's show to air for you so you could get a taste of her work, and it comes from a recent episode she aired titled "Raising Critical Thinkers" with guest Julie Bogart. There was a segment in that conversation that struck me to the core, all about how important it is to allow people in our families, including our own children, to have different beliefs from us and to know that they are still deeply loved, valued, and HOME when they are with us. You are going to want to listen to every word of this excerpt from the Simple Families podcast and then head on over to Denaye's feed to listen to the entire episode! **Listen to the full episode here, and subscribe to Simple Families here. **Also check out Denaye's guest appearance on 3 in 30 here and Rachel's guest appearance on Simple Families here!
