What does the Hadbast Number mean in Punjab land records? Is it related to an individual’s land or the entire village?
In this video, we explain the importance of the Hadbast Number in Punjab revenue records. A Hadbast Number is not assigned to a specific person’s land. Instead, it serves as a unique identification code for the entire revenue village (Mauza). It helps define the physical and administrative boundaries of a village in official documents such as Jamabandi and property registration records.
While a Khasra Number identifies individual land parcels, the Hadbast Number represents the whole revenue estate. Revenue officials like Patwari use this number to locate accurate land records district-wise and tehsil-wise within the system managed by the Punjab Revenue Department.
Understanding the Hadbast Number is essential for legal land identification, property verification, and avoiding confusion during land disputes, registration, or mutation processes.
