Jeff Satur Talks "Comedy," The Meaning Behind "Red Giant," Alter Egos & "Why Don't You Stay"
EThai multi-hyphenate Jeff Satur joins us in the studio for the first time ever to discuss his latest EP ‘Red Giant’ — his first release sung mostly in English — his creative company Studio On Saturn, the wildly successful show ‘KinnPorsche: The Series,’ and his upcoming show ‘Happy Ending’ a fantasy mystery series he developed as producer, scriptwriter, composer, and lead actor. Suffice to say this Bangkok-born, cat cardigan-wearing, 31-year-old is multi-tasking at the highest level. Wild to think that he almost quit music entirely, and we get into that too. Plus he opens up about his path to now, his fascination with space, the connection between acting and music, how he navigates fame as an introvert (he’s got some alter egos), and that novel he wrote, plus so much more. This interview sponsored by HBO Max! Slayyyter Talks “Daddy AF,” Faith, iPod Music, and New Album ‘Worst Girl in America’
ESlayyyter aka 29-year-old Catherine Grace Garner joins us on the couch for the first time to discuss her third album ‘Worst Girl in America,’ a record steeped in the heavy bass and synth-pop grooves of Justice, Ladytron, Daft Punk, Crystal Castles, The Cramps, Santigold, and Peaches. It finds the St. Louis multi-hyphenate in her 2010 bag. Channeling the hedonism of the era, ‘WGIA’ is hands-down her best record to date. Forever on up-and-coming lists, she’s over it: Slayyyter has arrived. We dive into her early years, navigating Catholic school and religious tats, hustling hard with no plan B, moving to LA in the pandemic on a whim, “Daddy AF” landing on the ‘Anora,’ soundtrack, and why there’s a song on the record called “Brittany Murphy.” Plus breaking toxic cycles, pop culture’s obsession with trauma, orca whales, styling herself, directing er videos, the story behind “Cannibalism,” and so much more. Dermot Kennedy Talks Funeral, Better Days, Fred Again and New Album "The Weight of the Woods"
EIreland’s finest is back on the couch to discuss his third album, ‘Weight of the Woods’ — a record that in part-took shape in Nashville, but is very much steeped in his home country. We get into the nitty gritty of the album, the relationship between sports and music and music-making, that Taylor Swift cover, “Blue Eyes,” J Cole and his hip-hop influences. Plus he recounts his meet-cute with Fred Again and how those two banging collabs came about, he clarifies (and is occasionally confused by) some Irish slang, and so much more. Nessa Barrett Talks Toxic Romances, Hypnotherapy, Buffalo 66, and New EP ‘Jesus Loves a Primadonna’
ENessa returns to the studio for the first time since 2024’s ‘Aftercare,’ back to talk about her latest EP ‘Jesus Loves a Primadonna’ — a collection that sees her zeroing in on the cyclical nature (and it seems endless allure) of passionate, toxic relationships, while sonically pulling from trip-hop icons like Portishead and Massive Attack. We dive into all her influences from cult film ‘Buffalo 66’ to exactly how she got Jesse Rutherford from The Neighbourhood in her video for her song of the same name. Her obsession with vampires to hypnotherapy to on wild night in Vegas (where she almost got hitched). Niall Horan Talks Falling In Love, "Dinner Party," Lewis Capaldi and The Voice
ENiall Horan is back in our studio to talk about his forthcoming album ‘Dinner Party’ — a warm pop record that sees the solo star reteam with production and songwriting powerhouses John Ryan Julian Bunetta and open up about falling in love with his longterm girlfriend. Turns out they met at a dinner party and the cereal box game was involved (for those who don’t know what that is, all is explained). Remember his 2023 song ‘You Could Start a Cult’? Well it’s about the very same muse. The 32-year-old is charming and open as ever and also discusses his winning streak coaching on ‘The Voice’ and the confidence it gave him, hopping onstage with Role Model, his relationship with Lewis Capaldi, his desire to collab with Laufey, his busted knees, and so much more. Luke Combs Talks New Album 'The Way I Am,' Fatherhood, “Fast Car,” and Morgan Wallen
EWe’re thrilled to welcome Luke Combs to the studio for the first time ever to chat about his latest 22-track opus ‘The Way I Am.’ A fantastically humble, funny, and authentic human, we talk to the soon to be father of three about his beginnings, from wanting to be a homicide detective to being a bouncer and playing in bars; getting rejected from the voice to creating a grassroots fanbase and basically becoming the biggest country star there is! Later this year he’s playing three nights at Wembley. That’s 270k people!!We also talk about the truly transformative moments of his life, becoming a dad, meeting his wife (it’s a great meet cute), the epic ‘Fast Car’ cover, bending the ear of Tracy Chapman and then pulling her out of retirement to perform with him at the Grammys. And of course we talk about this record, what’s up with the lack of country at the Superbowl, his “redneck chic” car collection, his watch collection… and yet somehow he remains utterly grounded. Guitarricadelafuente Talks Spanish Leather, Collab with Troye Sivan, Full Time Papi & La Bola Negra
EWe’re thrilled to welcome Spain’s Guitarricadelafuente, aka 28-year-old Álvaro Lafuente Calvo, to the couch, joining us to talk about his killer second album ‘Spanish Leather.’ Like his peers Rosalia and Nathy Peluso, Calvo began his career rooted in the romanticism and traditionalism of his home country — his debut album, 2022’s La Cantera stands as an homage to folklore. With ‘Spanish Leather’ Calvo dives into hedonism, sensuality, and vulnerability. He’s visibly and audibly more comfortable exploring his queerness, a journey that was sparked by his collaboration and friendship with Troye Sivan. He discusses all this plus his work with celebrated German photographer Wolfgang Tillmans, whose imagery perfectly complements the record. We learn more about his self-taught beginnings, his alter ego, his thoughts on commitment and relationships, his debut acting role opposite Penelope Cruz in forthcoming film ‘La Bola Negra’ (directed by Spanish queer writer/directors Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi), and so much more. 3Quency Talks New Song 'Telephone,' Building the Band, Soulidified, and Kelly Rowland
ENori, Brianna, and Wennely — the irrepressible trio who make up 3Quency — join us in the studio to give us the behind the scenes skinny on Netflix’s ‘Building the Band,’ which they won. The spill the beans on what we didn’t see, who they were rooting for, their mindset in the pods and of course their close relationship with Soulidified. And yes Nori and Shade are still together. Why they didn’t wind up as a storyline on the show? We find that out too. We also dig in to the winding path they took to land on the show from stint on ‘The Voice’ and other reality show talent shows, Brianna time on the rebooted Mickey Mouse Club, individual solo endeavors and band ventures, time spent doing musical theater, and how Brianna’s recently passed grandma was probably (definitely?) communicating with her through a TV that was unplugged?! They also talk frankly about online bullying, their unshakable bond, Kelly Rowland, and their streak of singles, each showing off a different facet of their talent and message. For sure we dig into this record, co-produced again by longtime collaborator Leroy Clampitt (Lilly Allen, Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter), and dig into songs like “Complexity,” “Bad Enough,” her favorite, “Healthy Habits.” And which songs did Raye write for Madison? We uncover that too. Piper Curda Talks Hoppers, Disney Channel's "I Didn't Do It," and Asexuality
EPiper Curda joins us on the couch to discuss her biggest role yet: the voice of Mabel Tanaka, the starring character in Pixar’s new film ‘Hoppers.’ We’ll let her explain the plot but her character is an animal loving Japanese-American college student whose mind is transferred into a robotic beaver. Obviously there was a lot of beaver talk. But 28-year-old Curda has a rich and storied history with Disney, starting off as a kid acting in ‘A.N.T. Farm’ and ‘I Did’n’t Do It,’ so Disney lore is definitely a topic of conversation. We discuss how she got into acting, her upbringing amongst five other siblings — all of whom wound up in entertainment, Glory, Riley Major, and Saylor — and who were raised for a time on a military base (her dad grew up on the streets of Korea and went on to be the first Korean-American general in the army). We also go deep on the realities of acting, how during the pandemic and followed by the strike she wound up working a nine-to-five. She’s super honest about her experiences with depression and openly discusses asexuality. Piper is funny, and refreshingly frank. Don’t miss! This episode is sponsored by AlexaPlus. Soulidified Talks "What's Your Name," Building the Band and Advice from Liam Payne
EThey came third in Netflix’s ‘Building the Band’ — but as Liam Payne — one of the show’s mentors was quick to point out, One Direction also came third way back when. The most important thing is that the quartet found each other, and they definitely wouldn’t have if it wasn’t for this latest reality talent conceit: ostensibly ‘Love Is Blind’ meets ‘The Voice.’So meet Malik, Shade, Bradley, and Landon. We find out all there is to know about them, experience on the show and after — what went on behind the scenes, their experiences with Liam Payne, and where their own origin stories. Including Malik’s journey via ‘The Voice’ and ‘American Idol,’ Bradley the busker who went to Berklee music school, Landon the self-described Thrift King who already had prior experiences in a boy band. and Shade’s football moment Of course we also dig into Shade and Nori from 3quency’s romance, boyband boot camp, Bradley and Landon getting their dancing legs, the band name, the matching tats, their latest single “What’s Your Name” (think Boyz II Men meeting N*SYNC), and so much more. Amber Riley Talks Glee, Mercedes Jones Storylines, Dreamgirls & Dancing with the Stars
EThe iconic singer/actor/advocate Amber Riley joins us in the studio to discuss her work with the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS foundation, raising awareness for the HIV Is Not A Crime (https://elizabethtayloraidsfoundation.org/hiv-is-not-a-crime/) initiative which advocates for the modernization of laws because in 30 states HIV remains criminalized! Truly a shocking fact in this day and age. To date, The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation has successfully changed 33 laws across 12 states, but there’s still more to be done. While this is definitely a topic of discussion, of course we can’t have the newly 40-year-old talent (happy 40th!) in the hot seat without discussing her time on ‘Glee’ as Mercedes Jones and where Mercedes might be today. We find out about that pre-‘Glee’ Ryan Murphy pilot that was never green lit, and the bright and brilliant talent Naya Rivera. There’s plenty of questions that go deep thanks to our resident Gleek Kelsey (the tater tot storyline anyone?!).Plus we chat about her pal Jazmine Sullivan (casual), being a ghost singer (and what that is!), her time spent in the UK on West End performing in ‘Dream Girls,’ her game-changing stint on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and ‘The Masked Singer’ (in both the US and UK) — all hail the singing harp. We also find out what’s up with her solo singing career as RILEY. She’s in her YES era and we love to see it! We’re dropping this interview today, the day before HIV Is Not A Crime Awareness Day on February 28th — a significant date as it ties a symbolic bow to the closing of National Black History Month and the beginning of National Women’s History Month – two demographics that are disproportionately impacted by both the HIV epidemic & HIV criminalization. Baz Luhrmann Talks Elvis Presley, 30 Years of Romeo + Juliet, Leonardo DiCaprio and New Film "EPiC"
EWe were beyond thrilled to welcome Aussie auteur Baz Luhrmann on the couch! For 30 plus years he’s been wowing audiences with his fantastical, rich, music-heavy world-building — from ‘Romeo + Juliet’ to ‘Moulin Rouge,’ ‘Great Gatsby’ to his Austin Butler-starring Elvis biopic, and now he’s taking Elvis on an international tour via his new concert film ‘EPiC.’ In the process of creating 2023’s ‘Elvis’ Baz and his team unearth 50 plus unseen reels of footage from Elvis’ heyday, performing in Vegas in the early 70s. Alongside Peter Jackson’s team (who restored the Beatles footage for ‘The Beatles: Get Back’) and a coterie of experts, Baz brought the concert footage and backstage scenes back to life, painstakingly piecing together and syncing audio, and in some cases orchestrating the audio where it was lost. We get into all of that (and the accompanying soundtrack). The whole shebang is narrated by Elvis, in his own, hitherto unheard words, thanks to a 45 minute interview that also lay languishing in the Kansas salt mine vaults with the rest of it. After Elvis’ manager Colonel Tom Parker blocked him from going on international tours throughout his career, the King is finally hitting the road outside of America! And then there’s all the other stuff we talked about: Bowie, Mick Jagger, his love of abiding K-pop (and the genre’s connection with Elvis), his Oscar-winning wife and partner in crime Catherine Martin, 30 years of ‘Romeo + Juliet,’ working with Leonardo DiCaprio as a teenager and then a 30-something, roaming around Graceland when it was closed for business, his upcoming film about Joan of Arc (‘Jeanne d’Arc’), growing old disgracefully and so much more. EEven though Zach and Avan have known each other socially for 16 years, the pair have never sat down for a formal chat, but now the 34-year-old Canadian-British-Indian actor is in the official hotseat thanks to his new thriller series ‘56 Days.’ Playing the brooding, possibly dangerous, definitely tortured Oliver, starring opposite Dove Cameron, the Prime series is very much in the vein of 90s psycho-sexual classics like ‘Fatal Attraction’ and ‘Basic Instinct.’ The chemistry is combustible and we get into that, how he built the character, intimacy co-ordinators, morality gray areas, and more. Plus he chats about his beginnings in acting, how he snagged the role of heartthrob Beck in ‘Victorious,’ and his relationship with the cast to this day. We also dig into his more leftfield creative endeavors including working with arthouse filmmaker Greg Araki, screenwriting legend Charlie Kaufman, and his own screenplays and directing forays. And… his second poetry collection — ‘Autopsy (of an Ex-Teen Heartthrob)’ with its humor and satire, some of which might have been lost on readers. December 10 Talks Reality TV, Simon Cowell, One Direction Comparisons, and Debut Single “Run My Way”
ESimon Cowell — label exec, talent reality TV judge OG, “bad guy,” perma-aviator sporting, tight top-and-high pant wearer etc. and so on — fancies a challenge. He wants to create a new boy band, one that will challenge the omnipotence of K-pop, a band that will put his name back in the cultural conversation. A lot is on the line. He scours Dublin, Liverpool, and London for plucky teen hopefuls. The initial response to his call for auditions is a little meh, but then the judges uncover some gems, albeit ones with strikingly similar haircuts. A thousand is whittled down to under ten hopefuls who battle it out for five spaces in the as-of-yet unnamed boy band and across the six episodes viewers start to really care about the journey of these wannabe stars. Cowell is torn! He ultimately plumps for seven members (in true KPop style) and so we have Cruz Lee-Ojo, Danny Bretherton, Hendrik Christoffersen, John Fadare, Josh Olliver, Nicolas Alves, and Seán Hayden. And know they’re on our couch. We find out a bit more about the septet: where they’re from, previous talent show accolades, what instruments they play, who loves school, who used to be a semi-pro soccer player, who almost pursued rugby full time. And of course we ask about Cowell, working with storied songwriters like Poo Bear and Savan Kotecha (Bieber, 1D, respectively), why Brits are so obsessed with breaking America, One Direction comparisons, squaring up to BTS, and so much more. Remy Bond Talks "Backstage at the Tropicana," Summer Song, Lana Del Rey and Bateau Bateau
ERemy Bond Crashing the golden globes party at chateau marmont - went on her own Remy Bond is a riddle. What’s true? What’s exaggerated? What myth is she making? What we do know is that her debut EP, Backstage at The Tropicana, is a transportive, bewitching collection. It samples Genesis, it recalls dreamy 60s girl groups, and ABBA. It’s Wall of Sound, it’s omnichord accented, it’s brass blasted. It features her breakout viral hit ‘Summer Song’ produced by the elusive Jean-Benoît Dunckel, one half of legendary French duo Air. How did she bag him? Slid into his DMs. This interview is a re-record. We had some audio issues with the first interview so she came back in and we uncovered that the gap in her two front teeth that she professed she had done in England recently, was actually a Sharpie-ruse. We find out about her childhood being raised in New York’s West Village, living next to Sean Lennon, and crashing the Golden Globes recent afterparty at Chateau Marmont where she met someone from Duran Duran who had quite a lot to say about The Weeknd.Plus we talk shrooms and creativity, her creative partnership with her sister Olivia and their time on Master Chef Junior, a stint in a psych ward after an encounter with Mel Gibson, the Japanese sex hotel featured in the ‘Skintight Jeans’ video, her film and music inspirations, those Lana comparisons, that Lana shoutout, and so much more. This episode is sponsored by HBO's Industry S4, now streaming Sundays at 9PM on HBO Max.Stream "Backstage at the Tropicana" ►►https://tinyurl.com/3udwxys2SUBSCRIBE to Our Podcast ►►https://tinyurl.com/48yfe4v5SUBSCRIBE to YT ►►https://tinyurl.com/5n8km55uSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Ella Anderson Talks "Song Sung Blue," Henry Danger, Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson
EElla Anderson has been acting for almost the entirety of her existence on earth. Still just 20 years old, the Michigan born actor and singer started off at Disney and then made the leap to Nickelodeon, playing Piper for five seasons before reprising her role in the movie last year. But in between the sitcom goodness, Anderson has been making a lot of interesting and challenging choices in film acting with legends such as Woody Harrelson (Sun Coast) and Brie Larson (The Glass Castle), not to mention the forthcoming drama Jesus Land opposite Juliette Lewis. Most recently she played Kate Hudson daughter in Song Sung Blue, a film based on a documentary about a Neil Diamond tribute duo — completed by Hugh Jackman who plays her stepfather. We talk about all this, plus acting with King Princess on the film as her stepsister, the nuance of building a character, particularly one based on a real person, how Disney was like boot camp, her parents morphing from classically trained musicians to Detroit techno scene makers, and so much more. This episode is sponsored by HBO's Industry S4, now streaming Sundays at 9PM on HBO Max.SUBSCRIBE to Our Podcast ►►https://tinyurl.com/48yfe4v5SUBSCRIBE to YT ►►https://tinyurl.com/5n8km55uSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Nat & Alex Wolff Talk New Album, Banana Smoothie, Soft Kissing Hour and Acting
EThe Wolff brothers (also once upon a time known as The Naked Brothers) return to the couch to discuss their long awaited self-titled album. Wild to think that Zach and Nat and Alex first met a whopping 18 years ago, so the rapport is set and a healthy roasting is delivered (largely from Alex) throughout. But they also dig into this new collection, which is both a vulnerable look back and a point of reflection. Additionally they discuss how playing Leonard Cohen (Alex) and Spiral Stairs, the drummer of 90s slacker heroes Pavement (Nat), in the films So Long Marianne and Pavements, respectively, influenced their songwriting, the stories behind “Backup Plan,” “Candyspeak,” and working with Billie Eilish on “Soft Kissing Hour.” Plus, the toxicity of child stardom, banana smoothies, fedoras, the genius of Cher, Mark Wahlberg, Cameron Winter, The Rock, Jumanji, cold plunging, the importance of living life unselfconsciously and out of the public eye, and so much more. Joey McIntyre Talks New Kids On The Block, “Stay the Same,” Robbie Williams, & ‘Jingle Bell Wedding’
EJoey McIntyre is a real one. The youngest of nine kids, the youngest member of New Kids On The Block — forget Backstreet Boys, N*SYNC, all that, these guys were first — this Boston-born singer and actor is a creative powerhouse with a wry and quick wit. He joins us on the couch to discuss his new Christmas movie ‘Jingle Bell Wedding’ (out on Roku), but of course we had to get into the NKOTB lore: the group’s near-organic formation, what it was like joining the group at 12, the emotional toll, his voice breaking, going solo (with some serious independent chutzpah), reuniting and woah, those New Kids cruises really sounded like a doozy (just google Joey McIntyre, naked cowboy). We also talk about his friendship with Debbie Gibson and Robbie Williams, his latest solo album ‘Freedom,’ his 2017 Curb Your Enthusiasm-esque show ‘Return of the Mac,’ the live Christmas extravaganza he’s compering in LA called ‘Tinselcolor,’ and so much more.
