S3 Ep 32Netflix, Disney, Walmart!? What’s going on in the world of streaming?
This week Maddy and Sophie are taking a break, and showcasing a recent episode of The Dive. Two reports released this week, one from Britain and a second from America, show just how much streaming services have disrupted broadcast TV. The first, from Britain’s Office of Communications shows how viewing time of traditional broadcast TV has dropped off a cliff, especially amongst young people. The second, from Nielsen, found that in July Americans spent more time watching streaming services than cable TV – the first time this has ever happened. But the whole industry is in a state of flux. S3 Ep 28Why do Lululemon stocks cost so much more $$ than Nike?
But actually, why? To buy one Lululemon share, it would set you back $US300… and maybe we'd just prefer to splurge on a couple of pairs of leggings! Especially when you have a look at their rival Nike - a huge competitor in the activewear market - and their share price is only $US100. So, how does that make sense? Nike is a way bigger company, that sells more things, to more people, than Lululemon. So why are the individual shares for Lululemon more expensive? We explain the reasons and ask ourselves... is it better to buy the $300 share, or the $100 share? Listen to our episode to find out! S3 Ep 23Top companies respond to ruling overturning Roe v Wade
The US Supreme Court has reversed Roe v Wade, a landmark case that gave women the constitutional right to an abortion. It’s easy to shy away from this discussion and label it a ‘political’ issue, but in a world where companies are ramping up their corporate activism, this decision has seen many of the companies we invest in make statements, or take action. If you have the means, we have included some links in the show notes to donate. Planned Parenthood - their mission is “to ensure all people have access to the care and resources they need to make informed decisions about their bodies, their lives, and their futures.” This includes making sure that abortions are safe and legal for anyone that needs this medical procedure. S3 Ep 15ASX Game: Lithium v Green Hydrogen
We're excited because we're checking back in on the ASX Sharemarket game this week! A reminder, participants in the game get to invest $50,000 in virtual cash in the S&P/ASX200, a range of ETFs and a selection of small and mid-cap companies... we first invested on 3 March and we love how the game lets us get a good taste for how the market moves, how your investments are tracking, without having to invest any of your own money. This week we take a little review of how we're going (spoiler - not great) and then throw around some ideas of some themes we're interested in adding to the portfolio - Hydrogen and Lithium.
