White Read Aloud Award winner is publishing his first interactive book called HEY, BRUCE!, adding to the fun of his best-selling the curmudgeonly Mother Bruce series of books for young readers .“One convenient thing about writing stories about a grump is that I can get away with more bad things happening to him before the audience stops laughing and starts feeling sympathy for him,” Higgins told PW. “That’s essentially what the Bruce books are,” Higgins said, “me having ridiculous conversations with myself and seeing what happens.”
