Rabbi Kivelevitz leads a ZOOM class sketching how according to the Mishnah and Talmud the Daled Minim were taken on Shabbas if that was the first day of Sukkos till the Churban occurred. The Rabbi clarifies Rambam's explanation of how that changed resulting in the almost universal not using the lulav on Shabbas in any circumstance. The episode then turns to the custom of bentching lulav in the Sukkah before Davening and the comments of Rav Moshe Feinstein Zt'l ,who queries how the principle of Tadir VeSheaino Tadir seems to have been downplayed.Kivelevitz elaborates on the custom that Rav Elyashiv adopted in the last fifteen years of his life to ostentatiously hold on to the Daled Minim on his way to Shul in the exact manner one grasps them to fulfill the Mitzvah, not in a container, despite how aesthetically pleasing it might be.The Rabbi suggests that two influences were primary in the great Posek's pivot, the Kabbalistic undrstanding of how the four species acts a a vehicle in transmission from Binah to Daas, and the publication of that volume of Rav Moshe's responsum.
