Due to the uptick of anti-semitic attacks again,and as we contemplate our life in Galus during the three weeks-we represent
a discussion Rabbi Skaist and I had about the tension between the African American community and Orthodox Jews and whether the anti-semitic attacks are an indicator of something new and different.
Rabbis Skaist and Kivelevitz discuss whether the horrific attacks in Jersey City and Monsey herald a new more dangerous type of Anti-Semitism or whether this is just a old phenomena in slightly newer garb.The Rabbis debate if soul searching is appropriate and if a new calibration needs to take place on the Orthodox Jewish attitude towards the African-American community.The opinions of the Rambam and the Netziv are dealt with in a 21st Century context.
