S4 Ep 52Groundtable Part 4 "Is Community For Me?"

Welcome to the New Season of Groundtable 2025! We are kicking off this year with a brand new series "Is Community For Me?" Enjoy this last episode in this series- Part 4 of the convo!! That's a wrap and it's a super powerful one! We hope you've gained some helpful tools and Biblical insight and vulnerable commentary, human to human, that's provided you with encouragement to seek community for yourself! Allowing ourselves to share, to love, and invite others in allows our capacity for generosity to expand! Building community takes time, effort, risk, trust, and intention... and it's worth it! God loves you, sees you, and desires the best outcome possible! Brit and I share moments in the episode of pivotal moments which transformed us as we chose community over remaining in lies that kept us trapped and isolated! These are short episodes to strengthen your resolve to not do life alone. The word "community" seems to compel us or repel us. We seem to either run to or away from it. Maybe we've never experienced healthy community or we've never experienced community period. Then, there's the last option. We've had an amazing experience and we will never stop seeking it for ourselves. Unfortunately the "amazing experience" seems few and far between for many. Brit and I talk about what it looks like and what it takes to create and cultivate authentic community and a heart posture towards inviting this into our lives. The truth is that it takes both of us to make it work. Community is preferring, loving, and trusting others while releasing unrealistic expectations of perfection to discover true connection. It's hard to know where to begin! We pray our weekly conversations inspire you to pursue healthy community for the rest of your life. We truly can do and build life together when we decide this is an invitation to do so!   Connect with us on Instagram: Brit Albin: https://www.instagram.com/britalbinart Juliette Dugger: https://www.instagram.com/juliettemarhoferdugger

S4 Ep 48Artist, Haleigh Kellam, Voice Memos Between Friends

Welcome to Season 4 of Yellow Soul! Our first episode of 2025 with Artist, Haleigh Kellam! Our conversation today felt perfectly simple and sacred. Haleigh just released her brand new Album, Journal 3. On Spotify she says, "Everything you'll find here was recorded on my iPhone voice memos at times when I knew I needed to remember what I was singing. God has been very real to me. If you decide anything here, I hope it's that He is a real man with thoughts and feelings towards you that are kind and gentle."  In our time together today with Haleigh shares insight from her childhood, how she fell in love with God, her music journey, and why her Voice Memos Between Friends made their way into what she refers to as "Journals" and I promise it will also make it's way into your heart like it did mine.  Thanks for listening! S3 Ep 47The Power of Cultivating Community with Joshua Lee Flowers, Michael Davis, and Ladarius Robinson

In today's episode I'm joined by a returning guest, singer and songwriter, Joshua Lee Flowers, along with two of his best friends, Michael Davis and Ladarius Robinson. We take a deep dive into the pathway of humility, honesty, and vulnerability in their lives. Joshua leads us into our conversation today as he shares the cry of his heart for a deeper community, "Lord, I really need a community of men who love God because I'm really struggling here." All three men share pivots and tipping points in their journey as followers of Jesus and as friends. Today, we discuss community, family dynamics, vulnerability, and the culture of honor they've cultivated. All three men share their origin stories, how they intentionally built community, and what it takes to invest in building each other up. Ladarius shares a point in his story that he decided to work on himself and how that impacted his relationships. The guys share what being "in process" means to them and how the beauty is found by not proving themselves or attempting to earn his love. Michael decided, "I gotta change something." He declared he was agnostic in high school and then, through a series of events, began to reconsider his decision. And apparently Joshua 'Julio' the 4th man needs to come back and join us! Joshua, Michael, and Ladarius encourage us to not be afraid to ask questions and seek God's face and He will continue to work and bring us closer to His Son, Jesus, until the day of completion. God does His part and we do ours! Scripture References: Philippians 1:6, Philippians 2:13 We’re thrilled you’re here!  Cheers! Juliette Connect with Juliette: All Things Here! S3 Ep 46Living With A Settled Soul Series (4) Groundtable {The Origin Stories}

Welcome to our Groundtable Series “Living With A Settled Soul” In this last episode of the Groundtable series we are continuing to explore the concept of living a peace-aligned life. It encourages listeners to dive into the Scriptures to create a life of freedom and inner peace. The episode discusses what a peace-aligned life looks like, including living in harmony with God, oneself, others, and the world around us. It also emphasizes the power of choosing disciplines and rhythms in life to break free from cycles of worry, anxiety, and stress. The episode aims to inspire listeners to seek a deep sense of inner peace, contentment, and purpose through the Scriptures. Episode 1: Weariness and Taking A Step Episode 2: Digging deep & Choosing To Never Give Up Episode 3: Finding Joy vs. Happiness In The Journey & Cultivating The Joy Episode 4: Digging Deep No Matter What & Deciding No Matter What Living With A Settled Soul: Podcast Episode Summary Living in harmony with God, yourself, others, and the world around you. Knowing you have the power to choose disciplines and rhythms in your life to get unstuck from cycles and patterns of constant worry, anxiety, and stress. Having a deep sense of inner peace and contentment. Being able to handle life's challenges with grace and ease. Living a life of purpose and meaning. Making a positive impact on the world. When we consider creating a life we love, consider the Scriptures tell us, “When we know the truth, it sets us free.” Freedom is a state of being able to act or choose without constraint. It is the ability to live one's life without being subject to external control or interference. There are many different types of freedom, including: Physical freedom: The ability to move around and do what you want without being physically restricted. Mental freedom: The ability to think and believe what you want without being constrained by external forces. Emotional freedom: The ability to feel and express your emotions without being controlled by them. Spiritual freedom: The ability to connect with your inner self and experience a sense of peace and well-being. Freedom is essential for a fulfilling and meaningful life. It allows us to grow and develop as individuals, and to make our own choices about how we want to live. How can you begin to increase freedom in your life: Set boundaries: Learn to say no to things that you don't want to do. Take risks: Step outside of your comfort zone and try new things. Be yourself: Don't be afraid to express your true self, even if it's different from what others expect. Live in the present moment: Don't dwell on the past or worry about the future. Focus on enjoying the present moment. Be grateful: Take time each day to appreciate the good things in your life. Help others: Give back to your community and make a difference in the world. Freedom enters in where Truth becomes the anchor! Remember it's when we KNOW the Truth that we are set free! This is why God encourages us in His Word to renew our minds and if we choose that as our daily discipline, this becomes a rhythm. Our lifelong journey to wholeness is not designed to be lived in isolation. Although life can be lonely at times, we are never alone. Jesus promised to NEVER leave us or forsake us and He is faithful to provide others who reflect His love throughout our lives. We have found a fulfilling life is one that is lived in a life-giving community with others. On that note, we encourage our listeners to grab a friend and invite them to join the conversation with you!    Hang out with us as we share insight around our personal lives, offer imagery to envision a different future for yourself, and challenge you through many lenses to see the endless possibilities God offers. S3 Ep 41Don't Ever Stop Trying with Joshua Lee Flowers

In today's episode, Artist & Creative, Joshua Lee Flowers talks about the day he didn’t feel like showing up, but he did anyways. That one choice literally changed his life forever and shifted how he lives, creates, and moves through life. When we don’t have the strength to keep going, and invite God into our weaknesses, His strength rescues us.  The most important practice in Joshua's life that keeps him grounded is constantly talking to God throughout his day. He shares how to choose a life with Jesus each day and how he's able to embrace the relational aspect authentically, freely, and without shame. Joshua has discovered rest in his life through the kindness of God continuously leading him back into His perfect, unconditional love.   We discover heaven's view of us is so different than how we see ourselves and God doesn't hold our weaknesses against us. When we show up, amid a negative view of ourselves, we experience His love the greatest and deepest. Is there anything greater than God's love rescuing us when we don't deserve it?  Joshua shares his biggest struggle in his life and how love, choices, and community have transformed his life!  We hope this is the best part of your day!  Connect with Joshua Lee Flowers here! S3 Ep 40Phases of Grief, Spiritual Positivity, and Learning Lament with Clint D. Watkins

Welcome to this segment of Groundtable on Yellow Soul. In this episode my Co-host, Brit Albin, and I have Clint Watkins at the table. Clint is a husband, father, author, and full-time missionary. Clint walks us through the process of his own grief in the early stages of loss and beyond. We learn how the edges of his grief have smoothed out, and even though it's still there, through the healing, he's not wrecked by sorrow everyday. Clint got honest about being honest and invites us to not feel the need to edit what others may be experiencing in their own response to grief. Grieving, mourning, and lament, are all holy, sacred spaces we can give ourselves to and know that God will give of Himself with us in the process. God never leaves our story even when it feels like He is nowhere to be found.  Clint shares he really wrote his book, Just Be Honest, because often people believe that faith is being positive, faith is about polite prayers, faith and suffering is just talking about the happy things and silver linings- they're not bad things, but they're not the only things. Actually being honest about what we're going through with God and others is a primary way of faith according to the Scriptures. God pulls us into hope and helps us endure, not by sugar-coating or ignoring things but being honest with Him, other people, and with yourself about the pain you're going through. We can bring our whole-selves to the table with God and He doesn't hold our pain against us! We learn how to navigate hard conversations and how to grieve our own losses while continuing to love and connect with others who are enduring pain too. Suffering and pain are inevitable in life and Clint shares why the Scriptures, specifically Job 42:7, are his True North regardless of where he is in his journey.  Clint takes some time to encourage the hearts of men that expressing emotions and being a strong man, a warrior if you will, are not mutually exclusive. Tears aren't weakness. We learn what was most helpful for him was having people in his life that gave him the space and permission he needed to grieve in his own way. Each person has a unique grief journey and showing up for others might look like just sitting in solitude with them while they weep. Often times we can feel ill-equipped to serve the heart of another human enduring pain, but then we realize it's not about us. If we will show up, God will do what He does best- work through us as a vessel of love.  We learn the rhythms he started with have changed over time, but many he still lives out today. The messy terrain of learning how he and his wife needed to grieve in their own way while also finding healthy ways to heal together.  We all experience pain and grief which is why we believe every human needs to hear this conversation. S3 Ep 39Escaping Pain to Finding Purpose w/Meyta (Brett Edmiston), Artist & Producer

In today's episode, Musician & Producer, Brett Edmiston - Meyta, invites us into the moment, the shift that altered his life, forever. Through this powerful conversation he takes us into the moment, the brutal experience, that led him to where he is today.  Early on, making music helped him escape inner turmoil, but through this harrowing, defining moment, life came into focus, and purpose emerged from this pain! As he uncovered truth for his soul, music was no longer an escape, but the pathway to his purpose. He shares why and how his current #1 song, Like You, was created through a process of surrendering and inviting Jesus into the creative process. He shares, "If we let Jesus into the creative process, He creates with us."     Brett takes us on a deep dive into the shame culture he grew up in and yet, he can clearly see in reflection God's fingerprints all over his story! He shares a conversation he had with God as he heard Him say, "You still don't understand that I truly love you." Brett invites us in to consider that we are the ones who limit the conversations with God.  He shares his rhythms that are non-negotiable, his capacity for more, the practical steps he takes to silence the lies that show up in his life, and all the things that currently bring him joy!     Congratulations to Brett, (Meyta), on your new album, Reverse Psychology, released today, January 19, 2024! S3 Ep 38Groundtable {The Origin Stories} Eating Disorders, Healing Trauma & Undoing The Doing With Dr. Tanda Cook and Dr. Katie Collier

E

Welcome to Groundtable in 2024! With this episode my Co-host, Brit Albin, and I are launching "A Continuation of Wholeness" to kick off the new year. In this first new year's segment two very special guests join us at the table: Dr. Tanda Cook and Dr. Katie Collier! Both doctors share the sentiment that everyone needs to go through recovery because we all have big "T"s and little "T"s "traumas" that affect every cell in our bodies, our gut, our nervous systems along with how they affect our brain development and our neurotransmitters. We all suffer due to most of us walking around with unresolved trauma. It's really getting to that level of healing. It's not just about eating again or gaining weight, it's about getting to the root of why we do what we do and then, once the root is uncovered we need all the tools and the village around us to support us as we walk out recovery and true, full-life integration of successfully living whole. Dr. Tanda Cook and Dr. Katie Collier both agree on their journey's to wholeness it is the most beautiful unveiling and unbecoming of your truest self. This is deep, hard work for every human. In our dialogue today we uncover the reality that every soul needs to be tended to for recovery from micro and macro traumas in our lives. For too long we have minimized what it takes to heal and the healing it takes to live a life of freedom and strength. Through the lens of both physicians, we learn the grit and determination it took as they pressed through the "restrict and binge" cycles and patterns of life that extend far beyond their eating disorders. We learn how to keep showing up consciously and subconsciously to look at ourselves and choose to be whole!    We believe this could be the best part of your day! Thank you for listening friend! S3 Ep 37Build Life Around What Matters

Welcome to Season 3 of Yellow Soul!! In this episode I pause amid my morning run to begin the New Year of 2024 with you in the prayer garden I've become so fond of! I've spent so much time with God there in 2023. Oftentimes tears would fall while just listening to the waterfall and contemplating my own life, other times I was pounding the pavement with prayers for the injustice I knew was unfolding in the lives of family members, friends, and for humans around the world. For 24 minutes join me (with the waterfall in the background & cars zooming by on Main) for some hope, clarity, peace, and encouragement! We are built for the storm and Jesus isn't afraid of the chaos in our souls. Your inner resolve doesn't need to tiptoe around self-doubt, hatred, shame, and anxiety that may already be knocking on the door of 2024 for you. Living in the tension of pain and power isn't easy. Most days it will look like embracing rest as a weapon along with drawing the swords needed to fight for our mental resilience and will to live free! Together, in this episode, we begin by discussing our choices that lead us from longing into belonging, beautifully. There's never been a more perfect time to build life around what matters! S2 Ep 36I'm Not Leaving Until You Talk To Me, With Beau Bonin, Artist

In today's episode I sit down with Artist, my dear friend, and Soul Care Coaching client, Beau Bonin. In this conversation, Beau challenges and dares every person listening to get to know God for themselves! He shares the missed perception others can have of someone who grew up in a faith-filled environment who often think this somehow paves an easier road in life...which is so not the case! Beau shares his personal challenges and the non-negotiable rhythms in his life to support his walk of freedom; journey to wholeness. As difficult as his journey has been, he wouldn't trade the relationship he's gained with God in the process for anything. He shares a physical location he went to day after day at a point of desperation in his story when he told God, "I'm not leaving until You talk to me!"  Beau has experienced a different life since making the daily choice to "put on" a refreshed mind! There was a moment he recalls, a painful day of questioning where his life was headed, when God shifted his pain to power! "Our healing is so much closer than we think," he says, and we both agreed that God isn't watching us go through the process of healing, He is in the process with us.  On Sunday, November 26, 2023, Beau released an incredible work of art as an artist, his brand new EP (Extended Play), called TENSIONS! Find out in this episode how many mockups he did of the song Tensions before the final rendition was done!
