It was on that day that the station hit the airwaves. On November 28 of that same year, the station birthed the WSM Barn Dance, soon renamed the Grand Ole Opry, which remains the world's longest-running radio show. Since its very beginning, WSM has (and continues to) broadcast every Opry show live, along with a daily programming lineup of talented hosts presenting classic and contemporary country music.

©WSM Radio
