As the 2024 presidential contest speeds to its conclusion, Democrat Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump are embracing wildly different strategies. Both are racing to energize the coalitions they need to win the presidency on Nov. 5. Trump’s team has largely abandoned traditional efforts to target moderate voters in the final days before the election. His campaign is focusing instead on his base of fiery partisans and low-propensity voters — especially young men — with tough talk at rallies and media appearances. Harris, meanwhile, is leaning into a more traditional all-of-the-above playbook. Michael Bitzer, political science professor at Catawba College, joined Jeff Hamlin to discuss the race.
