Melanie Shekita, a 27-year career prosecutor, has announced her campaign for Wake County District Attorney. Shekita grew up in Raleigh, graduated from Broughton High School, got her undergraduate degree at UNC Chapel Hill and her law degree at Campbell University. After passing the bar, she joined the Wake County District Attorney’s Office in December 1998. She joined Jeff Hamlin to discuss her candidacy.
