Flash flooding overwhelmed parts of Chapel Hill on Sunday night, catching many by surprise and leaving significant damage in its wake. Two women found themselves wading through waist-deep water after leaving a movie theater, only to discover their cars were likely totaled. Businesses in the Eastgate Crossing shopping center also suffered severe water damage, highlighting the widespread impact of the storm.
