After 45 years and 21 national championships, the most successful women's college soccer coach in history, Anson Dorrance, announced his retirement. Dorrance, who has led the University of North Carolina’s women’s soccer team since 1979, leaves behind an unmatched legacy, with 934 wins and a record of developing legends like Mia Hamm, Cindy Parlow, Kristine Lilly, Crystal Dunn, and Cat Reddick. He also guided the U.S. Women’s National Team to its first World Cup victory in 1991. Tim Crothers, a former writer for Sports Illustrated and author of “The Man Watching: A Biography of Anson Dorrance,” joined Jeff Hamlin on the WPTF Afternoon News to discuss Dorrance’s remarkable career and lasting impact on women’s soccer.
