Ep 23Women of the Wild 2:11 Faith Roberson Preview
Felicia and Faith sit down and talk about all things Africa! My name is Faith Roberson. I am from San Angelo, Tx! I am an avid hunter, fisher, and entrepreneur. I went to Texas Tech University & University of Texas at San Antonio where I got a bachelors in business management while competing in track and field. I then competed in the 400 hurdles at the 2021 Olympic Trials. My goal in life is to inspire the next generation of girls to have confidence in themselves and to GET OUTDOORS!

Ep 22Women of the Wild 2:10 Samantha Bell
Meet team member Samantha Bell. I call the upper peninsula of Michigan home! Growing up here has truly given me an outdoor playground with year-round opportunities for fishing and hunting. What I love most about the outdoors is how it really allows us to unplug from everything, build an appreciation for the natural world and the many species that inhabit it, but also have a one of a kind experience every time you get out. As someone who also is a big proponent on knowing where there food comes from, nothing brings me greater satisfaction than harvesting an animal that lived the most natural life that it could. I enjoy hunting for deer, turkey, and as of this year - waterfowl! It's been an incredible new experience for me, and I only hope to continue to inspire others to take a leap and try new things like I have!

Ep 20Women of the Wild 2:9Megan Denean Part 2
Hello! My name is Megan Denean, I am a Wildlife Biologist at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, MI. I specialize in wildlife management at airports to reduce the number of damaging wildlife strikes with airplanes. I have had the opportunity to work at 7 airfields in 5 countries in the last 8 years! I grew up in a small town in southern Michigan hunting, fishing, camping, and playing on the farm. Ever since I was little, I knew I wanted to work with wildlife. I attended Michigan Technological University for a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Ecology and Management. I didn’t know what I exactly wanted to do so I worked 9 different jobs within the 4 years of attending school to determine what I like and didn’t like about each job. After graduation, I took my first “big girl” job in Kotzebue, Alaska doing wildlife surveys at the airport for the summer. Moving so far away from home was one of the scariest moments of my life that turned into one of the most rewarding experiences. From there I started my travels and have worked with wildlife all around the world from the Arctic in Alaska to the bush of Africa, across the ocean to Latvia, and many places in-between. If there are two things I have learned in life, it is to take risk and be your authentic self. Accept opportunities and challenges that present themselves even if they are intimidating. You never know where life will take you. And always remember, you don’t have to fit a “part” to work or enjoy the outdoors, do what you love confidently as you are.

Ep 15Women of the Wild 2:7 Sam Beland
Sam is absolutely amazing, she’s always one of the First Ladies to sign up for a majority of our trips! Here’s a little about her. Hey all! I’m Sam - born, raised, and still residing in the beautiful state of Michigan. I’ve been an avid lover of the outdoors since a young age, spending much of my youth playing in the woods - climbing in trees, foraging the land and curiously watching the animals and how they interact with their environment. While I was considered more of a tomboy (embarrassing ultimate 90s pic included ), I wouldn’t say that I was, “raised like the son my father never had.” In fact, he was quite empowering while I was growing up telling me there’s no reason why girls can’t enjoy the same things boys like, too. So between sports and burying my head in books, I spent a lot of time fishing Michigan’s beautiful countryside, hiking miles into the deep woods and setting up camp next to streams to catch our food for the next however many days. While the outdoors has been a huge part of my life, hunting didn’t come until later in life. Which is fine because I have the rest of my life to enjoy the heck out of it, especially with a great community of people such as WOTW. Remember you only have one life - so live it to the fullest with a little bit of humor and a taste of the outdoors each day.
