You might wonder why we need to talk about self-compassion in pain reduction in fibromyalgia. What does it have to do with alleviating physical pain? Well, it turns out, a lot. Self-compassion is a way of soothing the over-agitated nervous system, that is amplifying our pain sensation on constant basis. We may not be directly to the part of our nervous system that amplifies the pain. WHen we practice self-compassion, we are addressing our suffering, whatever is the circumstance, and that soothes the nervous system as a whole - including parts that cause or amplify the pain.
