How to live Better Than Rich with Mike Abramowitz, entrepreneur, author, and podcast host

What season of life are you in? What season of life do you need to be in to accomplish certain goals or expectations you have for yourself? Today's guest Mike Abramowitz helps break down the many seasons we all experience in life, and how to best utilize them for the things we need to accomplish. We talk about how to excel even in the seemingly slow season of winter, and how to identify the different seasons. Enjoy this episode. In this episode, you'll discover… What is the key trait to winning at work and at home? (1:03) How does Mike establish boundaries? (8:25) Explaining the seasons of life. (12:00) How to have boundaries despite restrictions. (20:24) Mike's Bio: My name is Mike. And I wouldn't be here today if not for the wisdom my mom taught me.My mom was a superhero in my eyes. No matter what was happening in my life (or hers) she was always there to lift me up, inspire me to keep going and to always lean into my strengths.I was an overweight teen who made the varsity basketball team and my mom used to cheer me on from the stands with encouragement to "use your strength, Mikey!". I didn't understand it then. I do now. See, my mom was diagnosed with cancer when I was in high school. She radiated love, positivity and empowerment. No matter what was happening, she would always make you feel like the most important person in the room when you spoke. It was a gift. A blessing. When I went to college in Florida my mom got sick again and I had to race home to her bedside. I didn't know if I would make it but at the last moment, I did. Tears streamed down my face saying goodbye that day. A mark and impression left. Mom waited for me to be by her side before she passed. I didn't know it then, but I do now. Mom was the one who taught me the strength to fight. The strength to let go and the ability to know when each is needed. After her death, I embraced those strengths. I became the District Executive for Vector Marketing, founder of PB&J for Tampa Bay, and the Founder of G.R.A.B. Tomorrow I travel the world helping individuals unlock more of their potential. Their own unique strengths. To not allow your greatest insecurities to define you but rather to inspire others and use them as the superpowers they really are. I have been blessed to have trained 4000 individuals to sell $14M in company products, launched a passion project to provide 80,000 meals, self published 9 books on various personal development topics, and be a top-0.5% producer out of 2M sales reps in the 40 year history of the company. Who do you spend your time with? with Stephen Woessner, CEO of Predictive ROI

Who do you spend the majority of your time with? Do their values, align with yours? Are they heading in the same direction that you want to be going? Have they accomplished things that you would like to do someday? Today's guest Stephen Woessner opens up about just how important this is. How the people and things that surround your life, truly make a difference in the trajectory of your goals. In this episode, you'll discover… What is the key trait to winning at work and at home? (1:12) When do you know to be patient? (5:50) How Stephen grounds himself (12:05) Your greater story. (17:49) Who you spend time with, matters. (31:31) Stephen's Bio: For nearly two decades, Stephen Woessner has been in the trenches consulting with hundreds of clients and teaching them how to leverage Web 2.0 tactics like search engine optimization (SEO) and social media to expand into new markets, introduce new products, decrease costs, and increase revenues. Woessner is a leading Web 2.0 authority, bestselling author, and instructor at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Small Business Development Center. Woessner is also a business owner and has made costly mistakes along the way. He built one of his previous companies up to a valuation of $10 million and was planning an initial public offering. However, he lost millions when the dot com bubble imploded. This expensive lesson taught Woessner the valuable principle of always measuring the return on investment (ROI) before any action is taken. These lessons formed the foundation of his latest company, Predictive ROI. The company is based on a trademarked Web 2.0 method developed by Woessner. Instead of focusing on increasing traffic to a company's website, Predictive ROI increases the right traffic...the traffic that provides the lowest bounce rate, the traffic that increases conversions...and Predictive ROI measures the increases in traffic and conversions before a single optimized content page is ever created. For example, the social networking aspect of Predictive ROI can increase website traffic by 23 percent and conversion rates by 780 percent. Woessner's practical and tactical training sessions and keynote presentations are exactly aligned with this ROI principle. Attendees have commented that the most valuable benefit is that his processes empower executives, business owners, and managers so they can implement the steps and action plan themselves without needing technical skills. Woessner has been quoted in Inc. Magazine, E-commerce Times, B-to-B Online Magazine, Counselor Magazine, The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Wisconsin Public Radio, and other media for his Web 2.0 insights. He frequently teaches training sessions throughout the University of Wisconsin system including the prestigious UW-Madison School of Business. Woessner is a bestselling author. His first book is entitled The Small Business Owner's Handbook to Search Engine Optimization. The book has been ranked as high as #3 on Amazon.com United States, #1 on Amazon.com United Kingdom, and #16 on Amazon.com France for its category. His second book is entitled Increase Online Sales through Viral Social Networking and was released in March. He is currently writing his third book. Woessner earned his MBA and Bachelor of Science in marketing from UW-La Crosse. Woessner is also a graduate of Black Hills State University and the Community College of the Air Force. He lives in La Crosse, Wisconsin with his wife and daughter. Learn more at www.predictiveroi.com What's Next? Are you struggling to win at both home and work? You're best equipped to serve your former self with Meredith Arlinghaus

How heavily do you rely on the knowledge that God will provide? When you feel a nudge to go in an unexpected direction, how quickly are you to listen? Or even investigate that nudge? Meredith Arlinghaus talks about just that. There may be those moments when we think "No way! That cannot be what God is telling me to do." But when we throw our reliance on Him, we end up right where we are supposed to be. Today's episode may help you to turn on your listening ears, and tune into what God is nudging you to do. In this episode, you'll discover… What is the key trait to winning at work and at home? (1:28) How to have clarity during life's seasons. (3:20) Are you listening? (16:15) Deleting Social Media. (18:25) Meredith's Bio: She was working in a traditional accounting role and felt stifled and burnt out. She was missing out on the best years with her family. And she decided it was time for a change. Meredith decided to take some time off to be a mom and started working part-time for a local non-profit that needed accounting support. In doing so, she realized that her skills were having a huge impact on the organization. Word spread about her skills and she began to scale a full-on outsourced bookkeeping, accounting and advisory business – all while spending more time with her family and achieving her financial goals. But it didn't stop there. Soon, Meredith was serving 25+ clients and didn't have capacity to take on more clients herself despite near-constant requests. These business owners had built great businesses, and Meredith wanted to help them experience the freedom to focus on what they do best. So she had an epiphany: What if she helped other talented accounting professionals break out from the traditional path and do exactly what she had done? And that's when Empower was born. Our mission is simple: Pair busy business owners with world-class accounting professionals so that both can experience the freedom to build a career and a life they love. Ambition, Lonliness, Fear, and Intentionality with Derek Mills, CEO of SquareCowMovers

You are not the sole provider of your family. God is. He has that weight and carries you through it. We control the input, God controls the impact. Today's guest Derek Mills reminds us that our responsibility lies in trusting God for the outcome of the hard work we put in. This isn't easy to do as life, stress, and family pressures may get in the way. This episode will be very encouraging for you if you can relate to these pressures. In this episode, you'll discover… What is the key trait to winning at work and at home? (2:08) Why Derek still has his coach. (10:04) What to do when you feel like everything is on YOU. (15:01) Deleting Social Media. (18:25) Origin Story: If you asked the three Square Cow owners questions like, Why Texas? Why moving? Why 2008? The answer would likely be the same: family. The quest to start a Texas-based, family-owned moving company back in 2008 was simply a quest to bring their family together. That prevailing purpose allowed them to ignore the Texas heat, the seemingly impossible physical requirements of moving, and the worst recession since the Great Depression. In late 2007, their family was scattered and it seemed that everyone was in need of a career change. Wayne, the patriarch of the family, devised a plan. After learning his oldest daughter was moving to Austin, TX with her husband and small children, he persuaded his son, Wade, and son-in-law Derek to uproot their families and head west to the state where everything is bigger. Kicking the tires of several industries, ideas, and businesses lead them to a fateful meeting that forever changed their lives with the idea of starting their own moving company. With just 2 trucks, 3 family members, and a silly name, Square Cow Moovers was born. They launched March 1, 2008, to underwhelming results. However, as time passed, the gears of the small business began to grind, and little by little Square Cow grew. Instead of sudden "overnight success", Square Cow grew by a multiple of one. Meaning, the goal became to move just one more sofa, then hire one more driver, then buy one more truck, and launch one more branch…and so on. That commitment to seeing something through was foundational, and would go on to yield well-deserved success. Today Square Cow spans 2 states with seven branches and hundreds of employees. The family grew, and our herd followed. What's Next? Are you struggling to win at both home and work? Maybe you're crushing it at work, but home life is tough. What are you doing that maybe you aren't showing them, that could help them become better adults? Today's guest Lantz Howard talks about his intentionality with what he shows his kids when it comes to helping others. Not only that, but how important it is to remember why we do the things we do and adjust as our means change. I pray this episode leaves you encouraged, and excited to share more with your kids. In this episode, you'll discover… What is your key trait to winning at work and at home? (2:02) What are some non-negotiables for his family? (3:57) How Lantz was intentional with his daughter, and why he recommends it. (7:20) Leaving the security of a paycheck, to become an entrepreneur. (12:00) Lantz's Bio: I'm Lantz Howard. Disciple of Jesus, husband to Jessica, father of four amazing girls. I've been blessed in life with an amazing family and a career that I love, helping men like myself do the hard work and pursue personal wellness. As an executive coach, I can only be effective to the extent that I start with myself. I've been on a journey to maximize my own physical, emotional, and spiritual health since long before midlife. I remember moments driving my minivan with my beautiful wife sitting next to me and four little girls under the age of 6 in the back. Life was good, but also felt very full. I loved being in ministry, but I struggled with taking on too much and allowing the perspectives of others to cloud my inner compass. My body started sending me subtle signals that it wasn't dealing well with the stress: high blood pressure, heartburn, and a severe bout of shingles. I wasn't burning with purpose: I was burning out. "How the hell am I going to handle all this responsibility?" I wondered. Ironically, I was the one leading groups of men with the same struggles, and they were depending on me to help them find the answers. By leaning into the hard times and choosing to lead with courage, I was able to overcome Impostor Syndrome and craft the life I wanted: a strong body, a passionate marriage, a connected family, and a meaningful career path. Once I stopped letting stress, anxiety, and fear be my main motivators, I was able to experience a lifestyle fueled by joy, peace, and purpose. The best part of my job is that I get to connect with men like me, tenaciously searching for meaning in midlife. They watch those around them spend midlife coasting, relying on previous momentum, or making bad decisions because they sense a problem but don't know exactly what it is. My clients are unwilling to settle for anything less than functioning fully alive. They pursue physical health as a way to add vibrant decades to their lives, and emotional health as a means to build strong relationships and keep growing in meaningful ways. I guide people to maximum flourishing in all areas of life. Learn more on his website. Follow Lantz on LinkedIn What's Next? Are you struggling to win at both home and work? Pay attention to promptings to help you live into your God given power with Stu Grazier and David Gutierrez, founders of Kinetic Men

Are you just as intentional at home, as you are at work? Today I sat down with David and Stu. We touched on intentionality, humility, and trust. Trusting in the process. Trusting in the promptings we receive. Trusting in God. Today's encouragement is to take time to think about the effects of the hard work you put out, that you don't see. You control the input, God controls the impact. In this episode, you'll discover… What is the key trait to winning at work and at home? (1:31) You never know the ripple effect. (7:13) Staying vulnerable, and open to change. (13:36) Which promptings do we follow? (28:05) Stu and David's Bio: When we (Stuart and David) decided to start a business, our early conversations were not about goals for self-employment, profits, or wealth. The initial conversations were about how to create a faith-based business focused on giving back to the Church and community that would enable financial freedom for its customers and team members. Being active-duty military members at the time of The Kinetic Man Mastermind's inception, we wanted to focus on serving those who serve this country, hoping to provide a path to financial independence that would give military members options to continue serving or transition from their respective service, a choice based on desire rather than need. We have a passion for serving, giving, real estate investing, and enjoy the benefits of owning income-producing real estate. On the foundation of our faith and passions, we knew we could provide a superior experience by simply ALWAYS being honest with our clients and our team. The Kinetic Man Mastermind is the result. What's important to you? with Nick Dadas, owner and co-founder of numerous businesses - University Tees, SISU, and others

When was the last time you asked your parents for advice? Today's guest Nick Dadas brought up the fact that despite him being a father himself, he still wants to ask his dad on his thoughts when he is about to make a big decision. His reason? Because he knows that his dad has been through life, and has made a lot of the decisions that he is debating on making. If your parents are still around, consider asking for their opinion. This was just one of the points I enjoyed from today's episode. In this episode, you'll discover… What is the key trait to winning at work and at home? (1:57) How does Nick fight the drift? (2:49) How Nick stays focused with multiple companies. (13:50) Avoiding "more more more." (19:26) Nick's Bio: Like all parents, as our children approached school age we started thinking about education. We wondered if a traditional school would continue to nurture their passion, curiosity, and love of learning. Will it help them become confident, independent, gritty, and self-aware? Will school prepare them for a fulfilled, successful life in the 21st century? When we learned about Acton Academy, we thought 'if that existed in Cleveland, we would definitely send our children there!' We were intrigued by the idea of the Hero's Journey, of learners with freedom to own their own experience, and of a tight-knit community of learners holding each other accountable. The standards of excellence are high, and success is not about completing worksheets or memorizing facts for a test. The goal is bold yet simple: every child will find their God-given calling to change the world. After over a year of prayer and discussion, we decided to use our entrepreneurial, business background to follow a calling to bring the Acton model to Cleveland. We wanted this for our children and for other families that desire a new, innovative approach to education! Please contact us at [email protected] if you want to learn more about starting your own Hero's Journey with Acton Academy Lakeside. What's Next? Are you struggling to win at both home and work? What's holding you back from your calling? with Kevin Goodnight, author of Dadvoted

Are you able to hear if God is calling you to something? Sometimes we can be slow to respond, or not feel ready to take steps towards our greater purpose. Today's guest Kevin Goodnight talks about his struggles when responding to his God-given purpose to write "Dadvoted: Dads Devoted to Discovering their Duty, Direction, and Destiny." Between his inexperience as an author, and struggling with breaking a family pattern, Kevin had to make a choice: Listen to God, or keep doing what he has always done. Many will feel encouraged, heard, and excited to break bad habits after listening to today's episode. I look forward to your feedback! In this episode, you'll discover… What is the key trait to winning at work and at home? (1:14) Why the world needed Dadvoted. (7:30) What did Kevin learn about obedience? (16:39) How Kevin is intentional with quiet time. (21:43) Kevin trusted in God, despite his experience. (31:30) Control the narrative. (34:29) Kevin's Bio: At the beginning of the pandemic in 2020 I was woken up in the middle of the night and heard the Lord tell me, "I'm going to show up big this year." I journaled this but really didn't press into it. At this time, I started keeping a list of things I needed to teach my boys and mentioned once that this could become a family book. December came and I decided to really press into God's promise of "showing up big this year," so I fasted for 10 days to clear my mind and fully seek the Lord. Nothing immediately happened but I didn't lose hope. On December 21, Keeli and I attended a wedding. We sat down at our table with only one other couple. Every other table was packed, but ours. The couple sat on the opposite end of the table as they were very cautious about being in public due to the pandemic. We did connect and started to talk about our families during dinner. Towards the end of dinner, the wife looked at Keeli and said that she felt that one-day Keeli would write a children's book. From there I told her about my vision from earlier in the year that God was going to show up big. She stopped and said, "That's it! You are going to write a book about raising boys and it is going to influence the Kingdom." She said that this was from the Lord and that it would be done. We were overwhelmed with so much excitement knowing that this was a divine appointment. I dabbled with my writing and journaling here and there through 2021 but really wasn't obedient to the calling. In January 2022, I connected with old family friends Bob and Susan and they each gave me advice that stuck. Bob said, "Create a plan and a roadmap and send it back to me." Susan was to the point and said, "Just write the book!" As I wrote throughout 2022, I knew that this was from the Lord and the rest is history. DADVOTED was established and the book is just the first part of this exciting journey! My heart is to challenge dads to truly uncover, understand and fully know their Duty, Direction, and Destiny and challenge them to press into it and live it out! What's Next? What brings you joy and how to live into it with Ann Thompson, writer and podcast host of 'Faith Driven Leader'

When was the last time you were really intentional? Life has a way of being very seasonal, and pushing us to move in directions we aren't expecting. Ann Thompson has had a very successful career. However, she wasn't very happy when she felt God pushing her to move on from a position she really enjoyed. Today, we dive into how she listened to that inner voice, started new in her career, and reflect on just how important intentionality is. Ann is the Host of the Faith-driven Leader Podcast, married with 5 kids, and is intentional at winning at work and at home. Enjoy today's episode. In this episode, you'll discover… What is the key trait to winning at work and at home? (1:37) Active listening, vs. intentional listening. (5:58) Faith Driven Leader Podcast. (10:52) Intentionally making decisions (24:27) Taking a two-year sabbatical. (36:18) God has the night shift. (45:09) Traci's Bio: It was during my 12 years at P&G that I learned about understanding consumer beliefs and behavior, marketing, product development, and innovation. I learned how to manage up and down and across massive, complex corporate hierarchies. I touched nearly every business unit and region as I moved up and across the organization, from Fabric & Home Care, to Hair Care, Corporate Design, and Global Volume Forecasting and Market Mix Modeling - a discipline we re-named as "Integrated Business Optimization" during my tenure. But, more important than any product or team I worked on while at P&G, I learned how to lead with my faith; I fell in love with Jesus and His steady, constant presence, even in the details of my work; and I learned that, driven by my faith, I'm a risk taker and an entrepreneur. Then, in 2007, I heard the Lord was calling me to step off the ladder and into something new. I joined a small, but quickly growing, forward-thinking company providing market research and innovation services to companies like Procter. I learned how to create and sell meaningful projects that would enable clients to learn and grow their businesses. I learned how to develop and nurture relationships with clients who had roles like the one I'd held at P&G. I learned the ins and outs of running a small business. And then I got fired. Financial strain, and a mismatch between me and the future direction of the business fast-tracked my move to the next adventure. A blessing in disguise. Energized rather than discouraged, I seized the opportunity of a small severance package that bought me just enough time to try something new. Along with a business partner, I co-founded The Garage Group in 2011. Inspired by small-company, entrepreneurial spirit and practice, TGG works with large companies to enable them to solve big challenges with innovative new approaches, borrowed and adapted from the world of startups. TGG grew rapidly and my role ebbed and flowed as the business required - from sales, to project design and delivery, to client relationship development, to content and capability creation, to industry leadership, staff development, creating and shepherding culture, finances, and every other aspect of running a small business. I learned a lot from our successes, but even more from our mistakes. In 2019, just before the COVID pandemic hit, my co-founder and I stepped into new roles while we brought in a new CEO to take us to the next level. Within a year, I'd worked myself out of my role, as we sold the business to the next generation of folks from our team. I moved into what I thought would be a short sabbatical. That sabbatical turned into almost two years of rest and reassessment. Lots of writing and dreaming and napping and quieting myself and my own dreams long enough to hear the Lord wooing me into something new. Launching into this new season of writing, advising, podcast hosting, and speaking is a whole new adventure. Walking even more closely with the Lord, I'm ready and willing to go where He leads. I live in my hometown of Cincinnati, OH with my husband Rich and our people-loving Bernese Mountain Dog, Faith. We're enjoying the empty nest and the beautiful stage of parenting young adult children. Our latest side hustle venture is short term rental properties, which have proven to be a great creative outlet, and have given us a beautiful way to welcome folks to our fine city. We love to travel, read, and fan flames of revival in Cincinnati through prayer, worship, and fellowship with others. What's Next? Are you struggling to win at both home and work? Tackle What's Next with Eric Wood, former NFL player and 2x Walter Payton Award winner

This week's podcast has received great feedback already! I was fortunate enough to have Eric Wood, Former NFL player for the Buffalo Bills join me on the 'Win at Home First' podcast. His story is one that I think so many of us can relate to. I know, I know, not the NFL player part, but the disappointment part. 45 minutes before his son was born, Eric got news his NFL career was over! Similarly to many of us, from time to time, he would take his identity to what he did. Who is he if he is no longer in the NFL? What value will he bring to others when he loses the status? I believe this episode can help all of us when it comes to tying our identity, to WHO we are, instead of WHAT we do. Plus he wins at home and in his faith - great conversation! In this episode, you'll discover… What is the key trait to win at home and at work? (1:20) How Eric stays intentional, despite being busy. (2:15) 'What's next' for Eric? (7:03) 'Dad, you sound angry. (17:21) His football career is suddenly over. (24:50) Identity. Why is it so important? (32:53) Eric's Bio: Eric Wood is a former NFL center for the Buffalo Bills where he was an immediate starter, 2 time Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee, and a pro bowler. Eric played his entire 9-season NFL career for the Bills before an unexpected spinal injury ultimately ended his on-field career in 2018. Now, he has a clear direction for what he'd like to do in his post-playing career. You can learn more at www.ericwoodmedia.com What's Next? Are you struggling to win at both home and work? After 4 years at the company, Brad was Chief Operating Officer (COO) and transitioning to CEO and knew he needed help. Which is how we reunite! On this week's podcast, Aaron Walker said the turning point for his life was when he "had a pocket full of money, but a house full of strangers." At 35 years old he was very successful, making lots of money but was never around at home. This caused him to really be honest with himself, and make some major changes. He puts it as "prioritizing his priorities." Now, he leads a lot of masterminds to help men win in all areas of their life. Thanks for listening, I look forward to your feedback. In this episode, you'll discover… What is the key trait to winning at home and at work? (1:09) How do you stay driven, but in a healthy way? (7:24) How do you find out what your 'blind spot' is? (14:05) How do you start to make changes when you realize you need to? (19:50) What you should start RIGHT NOW. (26:03) Aaron's Bio: For over 45 years, Aaron has been a small business owner, committed husband, devoted father, and community leader. He got his first taste of real accountability in a business Mastermind group where he developed genuine friendships and grew alongside Dave Ramsey, Dan Miller, Ken Abraham, and others. He currently serves as founder and CEO of View from the Top where Iron Sharpens Iron Masterminds, business coaching, and events all coordinate to achieve the mission. What's Next?
