The Great Gilly Hopkins is a novel for children about an 11-year-old girl named Gilly who is placed from foster home to foster home. She keeps a tough front but slowly falls for the love of her new foster family. Unfortunately, she sends a letter begging to live with her mother and exaggerates the negative state of the foster home and social services takes action. This book was one of Rachel Teichman, LMSW’s favorite books growing up and Victor Varnado, KSN joins the reading of the Wikipedia page.
